Love the salon, great staff, decor and pedicures. But sadly the manicurist ruined my nails by removing gel with a drill. All my nails split to the nail bed. Painful, disappointing and so avoidable. Actually had to wear bandaids at work to cover up some of my nails. I had only been going natural and gel for a year with a salon that used files vs drill so I didn't know better. I do now. I'll be back for pedis cuz it is close to home and I do genuinely love the salon. But never again for a manicure. read more

The good: I had an appointment and was seated right away. I went with the deluxe pedicure (a 10 minute massage, and wax treatment) and it was awesome. I feel like my nails were very taken care of. I got the basic manicure and that was great. It definitely is on the pricier side (for a more luxurious experience). The not so good : I got cut on my finger (t's tiny, but it definitely dampened the experience). It also definitely got busy, so I would recommend making an appointment. read more

I've been here multiple times and it's always a great experience. My favorite pedicure is the rose special pedicure. It is a treat-yo-self pedicure because you get massages, hot lotion, and wax. Under new management! Phuong, one of the former employees, took over ownership and gave the salon a great (and needed) facelift. She also retained all of the great technicians to provide the same wonderful service as before--even better now with the nice touches that she added such as new colors and wraps. Importantly, they are super careful and hygienic--and were this way before covid was even a thing. They're always so lovely and take so much care with every service I've ever had with them. All of my mani/pedis last so long because of how thorough and deliberate they are. I am really happy they're in the neighborhood! read more

Having mixed feelings about this place now. I've been coming here lately primarily because they have good color selection and they're clean but the last 2 times have become ridiculous. I had a gel removal and they quoted me $10. They soaked my fingers in a bowl of acetone which burned and caused my nails to go super thin. They ended up charging me $15. The pedi I had was terrible. She didn't do a good job of cleaning my cuticles and it was shaped funny. Sat here w/ a 5PM appointment which I arrived 10 minutes early for. They didn't work on me until 5:30PM. I came in to treat myself to a manicure and pedicure. It was going to be a nice self-splurge. I had been working on some home improvement projects so I had some calluses. The woman who began cleaning my cuticles spent almost no time on my hands. When I asked her to please spend more time to soften the calluses, she handed me the tool and walked away. I couldn't believe that they were going to charge me to give myself a manicure. When I asked her, she threw up her hands, spoke Vietnamese and walked into the back. It was awful, hummiliating and rude. The owner made a vauge appology. Another cliet who saw this happen was equally appaled. Since I have moved, I was hoping I would be able to call this place as my go to spot to get my nails done, but after my first visit there, I would not go back. The lady who painted my nails did not do a good job. She was in a rush. I needed to get my gel polish removed first, but she did not leave the cotton and foil long enough to soften the polish. When she was scraping the gel polish off my nails, it hurt. When she was buffed my nail, it was too close to my cuticle and ended up cutting me. When trimming my cuticle, she trimmed it too close and too much and ended up leaving cuts on my fingers. 4 cuts out of 10 fingers is way too much. When finish and to show off my nails, I don't expect to be wearing bandaids on my fingers and covering my polish. But I had to stop the bleeding some how. read more

I LOVE this pretty little neighborhood nail spa! It's clean and smells lovely. Be prepared to feel welcomed as soon as you walk in the door as a valued client. The owner is so sweet and accommodating and seems to remember everyone's name who walks through the door. My 10 year old loves to come with me, feels free to express her artistic side and always feels pampered and valued as an individual. They pay attention to detail and make sure there are no overhangs so gel doesn't lift and peel easily as nails grow out, which make them last! This is the best nail salon I have ever been to. Not even exaggerating in the slightest. The salon is extremely clean and they're following 6ft distancing. I'm super OCD about nail filing. Most of the time when I leave a salon I feel like I have to file my nails again because they didn't do it perfectly. However, they always take the extra time and effort to make sure everything looks great. I got a design on my nails the second time and it only cost 5$ /nail extra which is super reasonable considering she did the design freehanded and pretty quickly too. This was my second trip to Lavande. I went in for two things: 1. Brow wax 2. Color change on both hands and feet. I had a great experience for the brow wax. However, the color change was really awful and frankly left me really upset. The lady who did my color change did not apply enough coats on my feet. Next, she moved to do my finger nails and the nail polish being too dry (salon provided) had trouble getting the consistency correct on the nails. I ended up with six uneven coats of color untidily slapped on. The coup de grâce was when she began to clean up the nail polish she had applied irregularly to the bottom cuticles. Instead of using nail polish remover with ear swabs or some such she began scraping at my cuticles with her nails. This really hurt. Having done this, she walked away with zero intimation to me of whether I should continue to wait in the same spot to let my nails dry etc.. I won't be back. If you have waxing needs, by all means go here, but I recommend getting your color change/manicure/pedicure needs met elsewhere. read more

She did my eyelash extensions and always made sure I was comfortable. The salon was very accommodating and flexible for my schedule. The other nail techs were very nice as well and always did a great job. They do take walks in but it gets busy so I recommend an appointment. I really should've known better than to go get a facial at a nail salon. The first sign that this wasn't going to be a good experience was booking an appointment. You can't book it online. Lavande has several locations throughout the bay area and amongst the two in SF, only the Carl st. location does facials. It took a couple of phone calls at two different locations to find out about this info. If it weren't for the giftcard I got as a present for this place, I wouldn't have even bothered. To give credit to my aesthetician, she was nice enough to warn me that the extractions will probably hurt, and let me tell you, I've gotten numerous facials at different places, to compare the level of how much this one was the worst in pain. I was in TEARS while she was doing the extractions. I believe in the "no pain, no gain" motto, but no one should go through this much torture. Plus, one quality of an EXPERIENCED aesthetician is to be able to gauge how sensitive a client's skin is. They should be able to pull back and say, "you know what, I'll leave that pimple alone, because I think that touching it now would do more harm than good". I believe that not only she didn't listen, but thought she was right in this case. (well, she was wrong, I had deep brown spots that didn't go away for a whole month!) What aggravated it most was the fact that she didn't know how to use her high frequency instrument. One should use it at minimum voltage with short bursts, touching it to your problem areas with care. She didn't do any of that. I went back to my dependable aesthetician in the East Bay and she couldn't believe the damage that has happened to my skin. I ended up spending more on products and services to reverse the damage that was done . Thankfully, my skin's resiliency was able to recover from this horrible experience. It took more than a month and all that time I had to rely on heavy concealer to minimize the dark spots, and I hate wearing a LOT of makeup. I've purposely waited more than 2 months since I had the facial done before writing this review, to let my anger die down, but most importantly, to report the results after letting my skin heal. Simply put, you should heed my WARNING: DO NOT GO HERE FOR YOUR FACIAL. read more

I find the environment relaxing and I love that they use organic products and have a wide selection of nail polish brands and colors that are very up to date. I've only had consistently good service here. What this place lacks in aesthetics they make up for in being convenient and efficient (at least in my experience). Mani pedis last longer if you bring your own high quality polish, and I wish they'd give a nominal discount for those of us who choose to do this. It helped that I had a $40 gift card to this place. It is clean and relaxing place. They don't have too much chattering going on and request you put your cell phone on silent or off to respect other customers who wish to have peace and quiet. It is on the pricier side of mani and pedi services, but they are thorough in cleaning, cutting, and pampering and polishing - no rush job, not sloppy, and I personally saw them sanitize and clean after people were done. The designs are okay - I didn't care for their simple flower design charged $3 per nail and it was just 2 flowers. Their display showed that they could do more elaborate designs. I like how they use hot towels and warm lotion when giving a massage. It would be an option for me to go to, but no real wow factor for me to go back unless I was in the neighborhood. read more
