I paid a total of $424.76 for a stove to be fixed; between parts and labor; The technician came like 3 times as usual he wasn't sure the issue was just to keep coming over and over, so the bill could increase every time he comes. The last time he came I told him not to bother because when somebody is inefficient it's a waste of time and money to hire the type of service. I made the mistake of calling them to repair an antique stove that was in my new house ...they said no way could they repair it and it was dangerous so I had it removed which I'm sure they turned around and sold for $$$ no trade in value was given to me .. they sold me a piece of junk used commercial stove for 5200. Ralph promised to repair after verbally attacking me and then called like nothing had happened telling me he wanted to come by and repair it no way was I having this unhinged person in my home ... He buys used appliances for $50 apiece from people who are redoing their kitchen. Fixes them up a bit, gives them a cost of white spray paint, and sells them with a 6-month or 1-year warranty. Seems like a good business model. The problem comes when your machine breaks and you need service. Then you enter a nightmare of missed appointments, poor service, rude technicians, and the process of having to return the unit and get a newer one. Twice I have been burned here by purchasing a washer-dryer that DeMassa said was "a couple years old, 3 years tops" only to find out (by looking up the serial number) that it was 7 or 8 years old. Turns out it is very easy to verify the age of an appliance - something he refuses to do. I'm still in favor of buying used appliances - but I have better luck using freecycle and craigslist. The warranty that Demassa offers is essentially worthless, because you do NOT want his guys working on your appliances. read more

Ralph DaMassa and his daughter Tracey are among the least professional, least reliable, least trustworthy people I have ever had the misfortune to encounter. I wasted two months of precious time to have an oven repaired waiting for them to obtain the parts, and the only thing I got in return was repeated half-truths and promises to complete the job, which they never did. I finally told them not to lead me on anymore, and I went to a competitor, REO Appliances, who were polite, responsive, and who diagnosed, obtained needed parts, and made the repairs within two weeks, all for a fair cost. Had they been honest with me from the beginning about how much trouble they were having with obtaining the parts I could have had the appropriate expectations, but by choosing to lead on with empty promises they made a merely irritating situation far worse, and they have only themselves to blame. The best part was when I finally told Ralph to stop telling me stories he started yelling, so I immediately hung up. Ten seconds later I see an incoming call from him, so I just blocked the number. This guy has serious anger management problems that spill over into his professional conduct. Avoid at all costs. read more

We had a stackable washer dryer unit installed by two guys from GE who got the hot and cold hoses switched. On top of that, the closet space where the unit resided was super tight leaving no room to fix ourselves. I attached a pic of the tight space. We called Demassa Appliance and spoke to Nick who came out right away to fix our problem. I was worried we needed two guys to get the unit out. Nick got the unit out himself with no issue, fixed the hoses, and even noticed the dryer vent wasn't attached properly. The service was complete in 15 minutes. I highly recommend Demassa. Though I was initially happy with the service received with Demassa I can say that I have never been so angry in my life. I had a repair man leave my house at 2:30 stating that he would be right back he needed to get a motor. I called a total of 6 time by the time 5:30PM rolled around and was told there was an emergency which I would have understood if I had been communicated with but that did not happen. I missed a day of work and dealing with my family issues. Now they are supposedly coming here tomorrow morning and I get to miss yet another day of work because of no communication. They left my kitchen in shambles and my dryer in about a dozen pieces on my floor again with no communication. I get to miss yet another day of work and with my family not knowing if they are even going to show up. As a person I can certainly understand emergencies as they happen and I am well aware of that what I cannot accept is no communication and lack of follow through. My husband and I like to purchase from family businesses as we believe in supporting the community. I will never use them ever again. As a person who has a family I can feel for anyone who has an emergency but not to be ignored and dismissed. That is not the way to run a business and this could have been all avoided by just communicating. read more

Also not prepared to remove our door to allow the fridge inside, no tools for that. Company owner defends them, says dropcloths aren't his responsibility. Not terribly pleased with the service I received. After advising on the phone that I had a foreign oven I was told that a repair would not be an issue. A representative came over did a diagnostic and said, "Not a problem, I will be able to handle this." Some of the burners were not firing and need a new module he explained. He tried a few things out but nothing worked and advised that he would have to return the next day with some spare parts. After trying some spare modules nothing worked he reassembled all that he had taken out and said he would have a more experienced technician come to take a look. Unfortunately for me, the component was not put back correctly and as soon as I tried to use the oven the module malfunctioned leaving us with an oven that was no longer able to heat up. So i started with a few burners on the range not firing up right away and finished with an oven that didn't work as well. They had sent the more experienced Tech, and the first words out of his mouth after just looking at the range were, " We cannot fix this, we should have never said we could" To put it simply, i asked for a small repair on the burners, they broke the entire unit and I was forced to purchase an new range unit. My washing machine was not working so I called Demassa. They were to come on a Friday between 10 -2. At 1pm I called to inquire if they were still on schedule. I was told they should be arriving a little after 2pm. At 3:30pm I was still waiting and called and left a message inquiring if they were going to show up that day. Finally after 4pm the repairman called to say he was on his way. He showed up around 4:20pm and within an hour had the machine working. He was knowledgeable and nice. Communication and expectation setting definitely could be improved. read more

Had arrangements to have my washer and dryer picked up and paid for (a small sum), but at the last minute, on that day, was told that I wouldn't be paid until the units were inspected (and maybe not at all) and that I had to pay to have them taken away. The owner called me a couple of times and kept changing his story in an attempt to try and smooth it over, but they never came. I don't know if they sell good value, but don't expect to sell anything to DeMassa. At least that was my experience. read more

Buyers beware: They request a $75 cash fee upon delivery, which they sometimes negotiate down to $60 cash, separately from the service transaction (which can be paid by credit card). I live down the street from this location and unfortunately have done business with these people 3 times in the past 3 years (2015-2018). 1) They came to repair our 1 year old GE dryer, told us the repair cost wasn't worth it and sold us a used but slightly larger and supposedly better but nonmatching Maytag dryer. 2) The GE washer stopped working, they came to repair it, same story, they told us it wasn't worth it to repair the washer and would sell us a used but larger and supposedly better GE washer. Upon delivery of the washer, they found out that the new washer did not fit in the previous space so the laundry door could not shut. They said they could replace the washer with one that fits at a later time so that I could at least wash clothes in the mean time. 6 months later, they finally call to deliver the replacement washer. Each time they come, they demand $60 cash "delivery fee" even though it was their fault the first washer did not fit in the first place! Spoke with owner Ralph DeMassa and he explained that his employees must be paid separately in cash for the delivery labor nonetheless. Feeling stuck, I agreed. I've used this company several times for repairs around my home. In the 90-degree heat of yesterday my central air-conditioning shut down! I called Ralph at Demassa Appliance who told me they didn't work on HVAC but he'd try to help me. Not only did he contact someone he knew to help out, but the guy arrived within an hour, fixed the unit and charged a very reasonable fee. Today, they called me to see how everything turned out. Stay away from this dishonest business! Amongst all kinds of services we've used during the years, this company is the worst, not only are they incompetent in the type of services they provide, this is a very disorganized business - they can easily lost track of appointments they made and mess things up. What's making things even worse is that this is a dishonest shop, the owner Ralph DeMassa tells lies in broad daylight, and make up stories in front of his client all the time. We had an aweful experience: we once went to them for a fix on our stove, they took away hundreds of dollars from us, promised they would come back with parts, but never did. Then once we followed up, they denied everything and we start getting into this never ending argument which never got resolved. As a busy working family, we gave up in the end, but we'd want to use this word of mouth to call out this dishonest business so that never again would other people fall into the same trap as we did on this dishonest service provider. read more
