Great customer service. Only improvement would be to have a little more diversity in the ski product line. Too much scooter inventory.

The people that Demo has around are always super helpful and knowledgeable. On any given day you are likely to find the owner around and he'll take the time to help out and always has a super attitude. A couple years back I was looking for a particular year and size of a Burton Vapor and they were able to dig one up for me and give me a good deal on it. I am a big fan of this shop. My wife isn't a big skier so we had to rent some gear. I kept my mouth shut and let them take over and it was such a smooth process. They have it dialed and I would recommend it to anyone looking to do the rentals before the mountain. (A good idea anyway...) I came in on a Sunday right at opening and they were closed for over an hour. We waiting for 1.5 hours and finally left. When we called back to let the owner know, he felt awful! Was extremely apologetic and even offered us a free item off of our list. Such a great shop! read more

I was here two weeks ago and had a very bad experience. Since there has been limited snow fall, they told us they would give us "shitty" ski's and a board because of "rocks on the slopes" however, there are no rocks on the slopes otherwise the runs would be closed. So, we paid $76 for "shitty" ski's and a board, when another person will pay the same for great ski's on a snow day? When we were skiing, the snowboard's bonding were way too short and BROKEN! So, the boarder had to leave that boot UNCLIPPED the entire time which ruined our experience. We tried to receive a refund on the way back from Tahoe and they refused. I will not be going back to this rental spot ever again. read more

I went in there to get some much needed advice regarding some kids equipment. The place was packed (spring break and it just snowed for the 1st time in 2 months). I was taken aside and spent 30 minutes with some tech looking over the settings of last years equipment which we own . I offered to pay the person for their time , they wouldn' t take the money . Huh ? Really ? What incredible service ! I will be back for sure when we're in the market for new clothes , equipment . read more

Wow what a great experience I had at Demo Sport this week! I took my daughter in to rent ski equipment as we were going skiing for one day. We were welcomed right from the moment we walked in. Excellent care and customer service from Steve. He rented us some fantastic ski equipment and toped it off with waxing our skis for the specific snow we were going to encounter. I called on the way down from the mountain to be sure they would be open until the 5 PM time and he said to take our time as he would be there even if we were a little late. The return process was quick and courteous as well. We will definitely use them again. I greatly appreciate the service we received and want to highly recommend this business to others. read more

I've had several experiences with the rude guy who runs the place but have continued to go back because it's conveniently located near me but now I'm done. We just got back from Tahoe where my husband and I realized n our first run that our just tuned boards had the bindings switched and reattached backwards. My husband is goofy foot and they put his bindings on my board facing the wrong direction and my bindings on his board in the wrong direction. We only realized this after we got off the gondola and had to awkwardly ride down like this, risking injury. Last, when we went to fix our bindings we found several stripped screws holding them in place, they couldn't even replace a few screws for us?!?! What a joke, don't go there, there are better places that will treat you much better. read more

I had a purely positive experience at DemoSport. I was searching for a place to buy rollerblades and was initially impressed online by their stock on hand and that it was all marked down to great deals so I paid a visit. I was immediately struck by how intimate and real the place felt - the owner and his one staff member were having a respectful conversation how to get a shipment to an out-of-state customer on time. Steve, the owner, paused to check in with me about what I was looking for. He heard my initial 2 paragraph response patiently, said he though he might have what I needed and at a good price (moving out old stock to make room for new) and asked politely if I could wait while he took care of the other customer. He made that call that swiftly but with total attention, then turned to me for more detail about what I was seeking, then disappeared for a few minutes and came back with 2 boxes, explaining why one of them was likely just what I was seeking, if it fit. Which it did, perfectly. Steve was completely transparent in his sale pricing and I bought the rollerblades feeling like we both won. We also had quite a bit of conversation about other sports equipment - paddleboards, bikes, wake boards. I was struck by how knowledgeable and humble Steve was - the net result being that each sport we discussed was made so accessible. Super helpful staff! the manager took time out of their day to fix my surfboard leash without expecting anything in return,

i took my ski there for a base repair. The repair lasted 2 hours once on the snow. Needles to say i think this place sucks. The patch wasn't even smooth and epoxoy was poking through. You could press it with a finger and see it move. Furthermore the wax they applied was for spring /warm conditions and here it was january,and they didn't even bother to buff that, whatever. Save yourself the aggravation and get one of the better shops in the mountains for tune ups and repair. read more

This review is for the Groupon SUP Tour. Steve is an awesome instructor and just an all-around good guy. He picked a great place to paddle as the shoreline there is beautiful. We paddled to China Beach along the shore stopping at an old Chinese fishing village. It was so peaceful and serene. It's a great activity to do to de-stress and get away from it all. I definitely am interested in doing another tour with him. I highly recommend it! read more

After going to a couple other stores and being blown off cause they didn't have what I needed in stock I tried Demo Sport. The guys at demo sport offered to order what I needed, and offered to rent me a replacement for the weekend, and subtract the rental cost from my purchase. I went out this morning with Steve for a SUP lesson. It was nothing short of awesome! He made sure I felt safe and had fun, but also challenged me. He is a great teacher. Very easy going and patient. I can't wait til my next paddle. I've never skied or spent much time on the snow and now I'd definitely go knowing I have someone as knowledgeable and caring as Steve to show me the ropes. read more

I like to snowboard - a lot - and I've been going to DemoSport exclusively for years. They have a great selection of gear (in lots of sizes), give out excellent advice, and do the best shop work in this business when you need to fill in some gouges or just get a fresh coating of wax. read more

I just took a SUP clinic with Steve from DemoSports and it was AWESOME! He was great! He made the whole experience great. It was my first time trying paddle boarding and he went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable and at east with the whole thing. I would definitely recommend trying this to anyone interested. The whole experience was amazing, Steve gave a great tour which included informational tidbits on local historical sites and other fm fun facts. From start to finish, the whole thing was great! You will leave with a new sense of personal accomplishment and a new friend in Steve :) read more

1 star because of a horrible ski tuning experience. I looked around for a couple days for a shop to repair a bad gouge in my ski base. The patch was ridiculous and lasted half a day on the slopes. It wasnt even smooth, totally ridiculous. There are not many good bay area shops left, and this one is not one of them. So to repair the bad repair i went to the best -granite chief, should have gone their first. read more

I have been going to Demosport for skis equipment for a year now. My children both keep growing - and so I have to go back for larger sizes and to adjust bindings, etc. I have been very satisfied with the equipment that I have purchased. In addition, I know that if there were to be an issue, then the staff will work with me until I am satisfied. And so now I might be treating myself to a ski boot upgrade. Slightly worn high-end boots for 1/2 retail. Can't go wrong! read more

On May 28 I bought a pair of used junior downhill ski boots at DemoSport in San Rafael. I give the store 1 star for telling me an inaccurate retail price for the boots. When I got home and surfed them, I found the retail was less than what they told me. Several places actually sell them new for less than the $119 that I paid DemoSports for their used boots. Called DemoSports same day, explained my dissatisfaction, and was told someone would call me. No one ever called. My bad for not verifying their representations before I bought. I give them 5 stars for trying hard to find my size and being friendly. I liked their service but wouldn't rely on their product representations. read more

Had a BLAST last Sunday! I was a bit apprehensive/nervous about trying Stand Up Paddleboarding (SUP), but I forgot all about it as our instructor Steve walked the group of us step-by-step from where to place our feet to how to paddle...on dry land. Once we got into the water, we all just stood up on the paddleboard...all four of us! ...and off we went! Steve only teaches four people at a time so he can provide help and additional instructions depending on each person's level. Also Steve gave us positive and helpful feedback throughout our lesson and during our "long" tour of San Rafael coastline. Oh yes...when I called to sign up for the lesson, Steve was flexible on start time, taking into consideration of high tide and wind conditions. It was a WONDERFUL experience! read more

I have been a customer at DemoSport consistently for the past 5. I have purchased well over 6 thousand dollars worth of ski equipment from them. While the gear they sell is top of the line, there is one tremendously important thing that the business lacks: an owner who understands what customer service is. Multiple times I have been in the midst of a transaction with Steve and he has lost patience with another employee or customer and stormed out of the store, leaving me there waiting to pay. On the phone he is even worse. I have called him to ask a question about an item I am interested in and been met with either a hostile response or him advising me to look elsewhere because he is "very busy" and "not interested". I find it outrageous that the owner of a sporting goods store can't put aside less than a minute to answer a question that will in the end lead to a satisfied customer walking away with a $1200 pari of skis. On top of the lack of proper customer service, Steve has consistently shocked me by being almost entirely incompetent in regards to the gear he sells. Last year I came in to demo a new Nordica boot and Steve not only tried to send me off with a boot that was a full size too big (I wear a 26.5 and he tried to give me a 27.5), but he also tried to explain to me why he was correct about the sizing and how I "didn't know what I was talking about". I must, however, be fair and mention that Greg is truly what is keeping this business alive. It is obvious that he too is surprised by the way Steve treats customers, yet he is always incredibly helpful. Greg, that second star is for you. Keep doing what you do. Unfortunately I will have to take my business elsewhere from now on. read more

Nice folks, but don't take your skis here for repairs, under any circumstances. My skis needed base repair near the edge (the edge itself was fine). When they were done with the repair, and then gave it their usual edge and wax job, the ski was so base-high, it looked like a spoon. It appears that the ski is unusable at this point, until it goes through a whole base grind. I asked that they fix their repair, by base grinding in the affected area, but they refused to do so, and told me to swap the skis left-for-right, so that I put the bad edge on the outside. Then they told me to give it a try, and if that didn't work, they'd give me a base grind for half price. Nice - the burden's on me, and then they'll make me pay to fix their poor repair job. There are far better shops in the Berkeley and Oakland areas that have technicians that know what they're doing - and would never hand you a spoon-bottomed ski. read more
