The exceptional precision that Alex brings to every aspect of construction really shows - flush baseboards, trim and walls are flawless; the seams where countertop meets backsplash in the kitchen and where tiles meet wall and floor in the bathroom are immaculate. Working with Alex was a great collaborative experience. He respected my input and perspectives and didn't condescend like other contractors I've worked with in the past. At the beginning of the project he recommended options for the foundation, framing, and drainage, with cost/benefit information that was really helpful to my decision making, and the finished building is rock solid and will always be snug and dry. I heartily recommend E Rodas Construction…read more I hired Emar to do a major renovation of my home (new kitchen, bathrooms, fireplace, deck, windows, doors, HVAC and more) and outside (new fencing, stairs, concrete pathways, retainer walls, and more). It was all completed to a high standard. I have a demanding work life and a priority for me was I did not want to be sidetracked and/or stressed out over this multi-year project; I got my wish. I actually lived onsite (downstairs) during the upstairs renovation. I was strongly encouraged to move out but I've lived in hotels on the road for many years and I know how old that gets soon. Emar and his crew were so pleasant to be around that they made it easy to get my wish and stay in my home. There are so many reasons to recommend Emar but one of my favorites is my designer and I would regularly come up with new ideas, sometimes unusual ones, and Emar never said no to making them a reality. Early on there was a big one, very high on my wish list, that a prior contractor had said no to - unless I was willing to spend an enormous amount of money - but Emar made it work beautifully at a very reasonable price. Even if a solution to implementing our ideas wasn't obvious instantly, he quicky figured out a way to make it happen and seemed to thrive on these challenges. Emar has superior social and management skills, gets along with everyone, and has the respect of his team and his subcontractors, all who are responsive and don't let him down. Other reasons for recommending Emar are: (1) Everyone on his team was highly skilled and the quality of their work was excellent. (2) He paid attention to the little details as well as the big ones. (3) He and his team were honest. (4) They were respectful of my house & furnishings, covering up floors, removing and/or covering up furniture and bubble wrapping my paintings before storing them. Four stars is described as Good and that seems appropriate. The design and planning was great…read more Wonderful insights into materials and structure. They stand behind their work and when anything went wrong they were there to fix it. Buuuut, that's an issue because EVERYTHING went wrong. Not a single subcontractor did their work correctly and all had issues that needed rectifying - ranging from minor to very much not-minor (lots of extensive tile problem being the major ones). Before selling our house I had to have the crawlspace plumbing completely redone as the pre-sale inspection came back with it not being to code. So I ended up paying for re-plumbing as I didn't want that issue holding up the sale. The costs also went up quickly and "invisibly". Essentially we didn't have a sense of how the expenditures were piling up as a dollar figure wasn't ever attached to a change in plan. So, ultimately it turned out well but it was an effort and it dragged on before it was all finally, for sure, done. In a sense I think the overall might be more accurately 3.5/5 but since the final product was excellent and they DID address everything (that shouldn't have needed addressing in the first place but did) I'm going with 4.

My house was built in 1924, and somehow they made it look brand new again which was beyond my expectations. They sanded everything down, checked the health of the wood, and even let us know where replacements were needed. They were also super thoughtful and worked with us on our color preferences and really made sure everything came out perfect. What impressed me most is how detail-oriented they are. Every step (from grinding and priming to caulking and painting) was done with so much pride, precision and mastery. They care and take pride in their work, and it absolutely shows in the end result.
