Den Defenders Security Doors - Our technician a great job and was very nice! - Chimney Sweeps Near Me - Sacramento, California

On September 16, I open a new Yelp project looking for someone to install a fireplace cover (glass doors, metal screen, etc.). I'm not picky about what kind--I just need something to keep my cats out of the fireplace. Den Defenders responds right away, "We can definitely help with that!" They send a technician named Joseph to my home a week later, and he recommends that I go with custom glass doors. He says he'll send a quote within a few days. He doesn't. Now it's October, and a couple of weeks have gone by with no word from Den Defenders. I try giving them a call. The friendly woman on the phone seems shocked I haven't received a quote yet and promises to have Joseph give me a call later that afternoon. He doesn't. Over the next couple of weeks, I try calling a few times. Nobody answers. My voicemails go unreturned. Fast forward to the morning of November 6, 11:02 a.m., when I get a text from "Josh" at Den Defenders. ("Josh" is in quotes because, as I learned later, these texts are AI generated.) It says, "One of our inspectors met with you earlier this year about your chimney project. Just wanted to check if you're still considering it." 'Well, yes, Josh," I think to myself. 'I *am* still considering it.' That's why I've been calling. I text "Josh" back, explaining that I still haven't received my quote. He says he'll look into it. (Again, while I don't know this yet, "Josh" is a robot and will say anything to appease me.) A few days later, I get another text from Den Defenders. This time: "To qualify for these rebates, your chimney or fireplace project must be completed by December 31st." I think, 'Wow. I would *love* for my project to be done by December 31st. In fact, I would have loved for it to be done already! Alas, I still haven't received a QUOTE.' I call, and I call, and I call. It is now December. Sacramento is steeped in its 15th consecutive day of fog. Temperatures haven't left the 40s in days. It would be lovely to use my fireplace right about now. I am starting to wonder if Joseph is avoiding me on purpose. Beginning to think that I am an incompetent husband incapable of managing even a small project around the house, my wife picks up the phone. Of course, this time, somebody at Den Defenders *actually* answers. (She calls from her phone, which gives some credence to my avoiding-me-on-purpose theory.) Anyway, after talking to my wife, a wonderful gentleman named Steven actually--finally--sends the quote. It's going to be $2,795 dollars for custom glass doors. I'm elated. At this point, I'll pay anything. My credit card is in-hand. But, wait. There's no link to pay the deposit. I call to ask for further instructions. There's no answer. I call again, there's no answer. I leave voicemails. Nobody returns them. I wonder, to this day, if anybody ever listens to them at all. My wife calls again, and Steven picks up on the first ring. He says there's been a problem: apparently, he was "never supposed to send that quote." We ask why, and he's cryptic. He says he'll call us back when he finds out more. He doesn't. It is now December 15. It has been three months since Den Defenders told me they could "definitely" do this project. Our Christmas stockings hang on the mantle, but instead of the brilliant glow of flames flickering through a tempered glass door, all I see is a thick slab of cardboard duct taped across the opening of the fireplace. Desperate, I try calling one more time. It must be a Christmas miracle, because somebody actually answers. I beg. I plead. I am not religious, but I pray. I'll give anything if Den Defenders will just let me pay for these godforsaken doors. I'll do anything to end this months-long nightmare. Rosann, the woman on the phone, is pleasant and apologetic. She tells me that Steven is unavailable. That Joseph is out sick. That she's actually from a different location and isn't quite sure what's going on. That she'll get back to me when she has some answers. Within the hour, I get a text: "After speaking to my team, we are unable to get a glass set for your unit." So now, here I sit. My den? Undefended. My wife? Disappointed. My resolve? Stronger than ever. There *will* be doors on my fireplace, but it won't be Den Defenders who installs them. TLDR: Den Defenders strung me along for months just to tell me they couldn't do the project--even after sending me a quote for the work. Two stars because the people we interacted with were nice enough, but I can't recommend reaching out to this company for any kind of custom project. read more

Anthony, the Den Defenders service person, provided excellent service. He was knowledgeable, efficient, and performed the job within the time parameter set. Although no fault of Anthony, the cost to 100% repair the fireplace required replacement of components that are of significant cost. So, at least for the time being with most of the cold weather behind us, maybe for next year. The fireplace still starts, just requires some time for the flames to really get rolling. Otherwise, the overall service call went well, components, failing identified, and the remainder of fireplace components and surrounding area cleaned as needed. read more

I've been looking forward to having a Viewguard Screen Door installed for a couple of years now. This year was the year to finally do it! After browsing on Yelp for a reliable vendor who provided this type of service we got a couple of quotes and ultimately went with Den Defenders. Eli was the sales rep who came out for our free consultation. He was extremely knowledgeable, professional, and friendly. After going over options and confidently answering any questions/concerns I had he never gave off the vibe to be a pushy salesman. Purely let the product speak for itself. Two months later we finally booked our appointment and had our door installed within a couple of weeks after being quoted 12 weeks out. I was very excited!! Jason was our tech who showed up within his 4 hour time frame, closer to the beginning of that time frame thank goodness! 2.5 hours later we had our beautiful Viewguard installed. Jason was just as knowledgeable, professional, and friendly and made sure to leave his work area spotless when finished. No type of debris or trash left behind. Realistically my rating is 4.5 stars. Dinging a half star due to the hoops I had to jump through just to get my appointment and payment taken by their distribution team. I was promised callbacks then when given the call I asked if I could return the call as I was occupied. The rep's tone sounded a little annoyed. When I called no answer so I left a voicemail. All week no returned call. The one person who saved this review from being 3 stars was Eli. I reached out to him, shared my frustration and concerns, then everything from there fell into place. Thank you Eli for being super helpful and kind! Jason, you did a fantastic job on our door. We continuously keep receiving compliments! read more

Mike provided an informative and helpful consultation when he came out. Although there was a communication hiccup regarding the installation timeline, the team remained respectful, courteous, and professional throughout the process. Now that the doors are installed--with a lifetime warranty--I feel comfortable and secure leaving them open in the early morning to enjoy some much-needed fresh air. While I initially left a review mentioning the communication issue, I want to emphasize that Den Defenders' patience and dedication to customer satisfaction truly made up for it. They clearly care about doing right by their clients, and I genuinely appreciate that. Thank you, Den Defenders! read more

This is an update to a previous post. For fireplace service, we've used Mike's Mobil in the past, now known as Den Defenders. For starters, the customer service rep I spoke with, Chris, was just incredibly professional, patient, and knowledgeable. If it wasn't for Chris's exceptional customer service, I'd most likely would have looked elsewhere. Thank you, Chris, for being such a beautiful kind and respectful voice during our initial contact conversations. Win #1. On the date of the inspection of our fireplace, service technician, Anthony, was welcoming, gracious, extremely knowledgeable, patient with a great sense of humor. Nothing could be worse than having non-communicative techs with a dry demeanor. While cleaning the fireplace chimney, Anthony took the time to thoroughly explain the process, the type of soot and its cause, as well as showing us pictures of the beginning damage the rains are slowly causing to the outside stucco from the rooftop chimney's chase cover. My husband and I truly enjoyed Anthony's honesty, our conversations, and how he went to great lengths to accommodate our needs/requests. Thank you, Anthony, for being so very kind and respectful during the inspection and while in our home. Win #2. Next review is pending, after the work is performed and completed on the replacement of the inside fireplace and chimney chase cover. read more

This is the 2nd time we've used this company, and we'd recommend them! The first time several years ago to install our Viewguard security doors (see my previous review on that- but they still look just as good as Day 1!), and now to clean/inspect our chimney and update our unused wood-burning fireplace to an electric insert! Our fireplace went from drab to fab with quick customer service, on-time arrivals, easy financing options, and kind and communicative professionals who cleaned up the workspace before they left. One Tech, Joseph, did our initial inspection and was able to tell me his findings and recommendations. His written report and proposed work/estimates were promptly emailed for our review. Once we accepted the option we felt the most comfortable with, we were able to book the work only a few weeks out! And there were 2 easy financing options: we chose the credit line of 12 months with no interest. Two Techs, Adam & Bradley, came out to complete the needed waterproofing, electrical work, and installation of the new electric insert fireplace. We are happy knowing our chimney is up to code and protected from getting water in the house, and loving our modern, updated fireplace! Its flames are orange & blue, and you can change how intense they are and how much of each color you want. The embers can change color, or rotate through the rainbow of them. You can just have the look of it or have it blow out heat at a few different speeds. If you're considering having home improvements completed, I'd recommend Den Defenders! read more

We have had our screen door for over a year now. We love the door. It's beautiful and being able to unlock from the keypad makes it extremely convenient. The reason I did the 3 stars is we have experienced a couple of issues. 1. The caps covering the holes In the door (as seen in the picture) has come out multiple times. A couple of them I couldn't find so I reached out to the company. I left multiple voicemails with no call back. I messaged them on IG and got a quick response saying dispatch would contact me after 24-48 hours. I reached out after 2 weeks because I never got a call from dispatch. Finally I begged them to just mail me replacements instead of waiting for dispatch and they were able to do so. 2. The digital keypad that locks/unlocks the door dies frequently and I have been locked out multiple times (usually while walking my dogs so I didn't have the physical key). Once again,I left multiple voicemails (this time over a couple of months) and finally received a response on IG. The person helping me was very nice, but in the end told me the price to come out to assist me to fix the door that clearly shouldn't be going dead as frequently as it does. For as expensive the doors are, you think they would have a better warranty to help with things like I'm having issues with. I cancelled the appt as I was able to get a new lock and install it on my own for much cheaper. I would give them a 5/5 (even with the pricing of the door and wait time for installation) if it wasn't for these experiences. They definitely need a longer or better warranty. read more

I personally requested Joseph to be my technician for this service because of the outstanding service he provided last time. Again, he did not disappoint. He makes sure that my fireplace is safe for me to burn logs prior to my using it. He continues to do such an excellent job of crossing every box to ensure that my entire fireplace is safe to use both inside and out. Having that peace of mind allows me to enjoy the ambience it provides for another season. I also want to give a shout out to Chris, the agent who scheduled this appointment for me. Initially Den Defenders seemed to be the correct choice for our job of replacing our fireplace. After waiting 2 months for the job to start, phase one of installing the new pipe and wood burning fireplace insert, opening the gas line, and outlining the hearth, it went downhill fast. We waited 2 more months before we finally got the glass doors improperly installed and the hearth finished. The hearth is off center from the fireplace. The doors don't shut all the way. The end stone on the hearth was put on backwards. The masonry work was shoddy at best, and the wall began to crack above the gas key plate. I emailed and called and sent pictures to no avail, even though we are under warranty. I finally gave up and found someone else to come in and finish the wall and tile around the fireplace which helped with the uneven lines and shoddy masonry workmanship. Because the hearth is off center, the tile is slightly off as well. Considering the price we paid, it was not worth the time, energy or financial output. I would not recommend. read more
