We had a great experience at Denim & Pearls on a Saturday night! One of the first things we appreciated was how easy it was to get a reservation, which can be tough to find on weekends. The menu offers a wide variety of options, making it easy for everyone in our group to find something they enjoyed. The atmosphere was cozy, welcoming, and perfect for a relaxed night out. The highlight of our visit was our server, Drew. He was attentive, friendly, and provided excellent service from start to finish. He really helped make the evening enjoyable. Some table favorites were the pork belly and ahi tuna appetizers, the braised beef short rib farfalle and the bacon wrapped meatloaf (with local Whiffletree Farm meat). Had potential but major misses in both food and service. Food: my pork belly app was over cooked and rubbery. I had the flank steak and ordered it med rare and it was med to med well. Flavors/seasoning were good but major execution errors. Service: don't let them seat you upstairs. They understaff that. It took almost 10 mins to get water and drinks. We observed similar issues with other tables. My wife ordered a second glass of wine that never came. I ordered the spinach side with my steak and that never came either. Fortunately, they did not charge us for these items. At this price point these are not acceptable outcomes. Will not be back here. read more

Enjoyed stopping in local retail places before lunch. Sat in top floor "balcony" outside area. Food: Her rating was a "1" for Eggs Benedict and potatoes stone cold cold. Thomas grocery muffins that were raw and untoasted out of the package were set underneath the nicely cooked poached eggs, Me: Rating a "2" The Recommended avocado BLT was overly mayo'ed and fries tasted like fish (ordered plain fries rather than other options) Service "5" Server had great USA themed fingernail treatments and also because the restaurant comped 50% on her cold dish after offering to replace the dish by both server and manager. Overall: Need to get food hot from kitchen to a multi level establishment. Maybe add a kitchen heat lamp or dumbwaiter but serving stone cold food is never acceptable. read more

We love to drive to downtown Warrenton and this was the perfect place to eat dinner! We sat downstairs and I just love the atmosphere and ambiance. I felt like we weren't back in time to a fancy pub lol. Our waiter was so kind, we have 4 kids and he was like look I am one of 7 kids I got you. We got the pork belly and meatballs for starters. The sauce on the meatballs was so dang good. The coleslaw with the pork belly was its own deliciousness my three boys were splitting it once the pork belly was gone. The short rib bow tie pasta was very lightly sauced in a good way, and you could really taste the short rib. Not a single complaint. Definitely recommend this spot. read more

Service is always really good. Exceptionally limited menu for vegetarians and vegans that doesn't change very often. Salads are generally wilted and unappetizing. If only this restaurant would pay more attention to the food! Farm to table would be great instead of Sysco specials! read more

Went here while visiting my kids and grandchildren in Warrenton at their recommendation. The restaurant spans several floors and each (as we walked to the roof terrance) had a different vibe. We were with young children, which was not a problem for the restaurant. The bar selections were ample and we enjoyed libations while looking at the menu. The menu is not big, which to me means that each dish is made with love and intention BUT everything, i mean EVERYTHING, sounds so good that i really struggled to choose (it was my last night here; now i know i must visit again soon). The kids were wild for the mac and cheese, and i'm gonna tell you that these kids have eaten a lot of mac and cheese in restaurants all over NOVA and the 81 corridor. They KNOW mac and cheese. SIL got the fried chicken mac and cheese and licked his plate clean. Daughter loved the sriracha honey wings (waiter recommendation) and she and hubby competed over the salad they shared. I was hungry and ordered a cup of andouille, beans, and rice soup. WoW! After the first bite i regretted not getting it for appetizer, dinner, and dessert. Super creamy beans in a rich sauce seasoned with sausage and a puck of rice in the center. Absolutely YUM and satisfying. I followed with the pork medallions served with Brussels sprouts and butternut puree. I was sorry to see only 2 medallions at first, but they were a thick cut and plenty of meat on the plate. A little caramelized and a little dry, but tender and flavorful. The Brussels sprouts were under cooked. I don't want them boiled and mushy, but these were too al dente. I say this, yet i ate them all. There was so little butternut puree on the plate, i thought they had forgotten it. Just a whisper of earthy flavored sauce under the sprouts. The food was great and the mussels and martini specials were delightful. Lunch service was neglectful and adult water glasses not refilled, but the kids' drinks were looked after regularly. My mussels sauce was cleared without asking while I was still planning to dip my bread in it -- I was in the washroom. When I pointed it out to the server they said "sorry" but didn't do anything to correct the situation. The server also took an order from a member of our party and waited until everyone was getting served their meal to tell that customer that their lunch order was 86'ed and they had to wait another 15-20 minutes while the rest of us ate. My boyfriend and I of 2 1/2 years were there for Valentine's Day, and I had the most delicious soft cheese (Brie or Camembert?) and fruit appetizer. Their steaks never disappoint, and the salmon remains delicious as well. The seating on the second floor is cramped but a calmer ambiance than the other 2 levels. The seating on the first floor tends to be kind of noisy some nights. Perhaps my favorite seating is in the basement level, though that can get noisy as well. Came here on a Thursday for lunch with a reservation and got seated right away. Restaurant was not quite busy at all. Service was quick and efficient. We ordered D & P Meatballs--pork, veal, house marinara sauce, Parmesan cheese and toasted baguette. Truly enjoyed that, meatballs were tender and baguette was perfectly toasted keeping the bread still soft. For entree I ordered the Sesame Crusted Ahi Tuna Rare--Iceberg Lettuce, Apple Jicama Slaw, Plum Sauce, Wasabi, Pickled Ginger and came with a side, in which I chose a mixed green salad with ranch. The wasabi sauce that came with it was perfect with the right bite to it, sesame Crusted Ahi Tuna was cooked perfectly and an awesome refreshing light dish for lunch. I stopped by around lunchtime after seeing some tempting oyster photos online, but unfortunately, oysters weren't on the menu once I arrived and was seated. I decided to try the crab dip instead but was disappointed -- it was overly greasy and tasted more like a cheese spread than a crab dish, with very little actual crab meat. I couldn't finish it. Thankfully, my server John was kind and understanding. He took the dip back without hesitation and recommended the salmon instead. The salmon was a much better choice -- flavorful and well-seasoned. My only suggestion would be to serve it with the skin side up so it stays crispy rather than soggy. The overall atmosphere was nice and relaxing. I'd consider coming back to try other menu items, especially if the oysters make a return. read more

Our waitress was very distracted by a table she knew and had a long conversation with them and wasn't attentive like she should be. For example I wanted to try different drinks but she was too distracted and I had to ask for water refill. A quaint little place with multiple floors. The entrance has a very quaint little bar with a tv. I saw downstairs which is very cozy and gave me a cabin type feel. They offer beers, wine and other coattails. Make sure you come during happy hour for good drink specials. I only tried their appetizer menu. We have gone for brunch 3 times now. The first time, I got the crab cake Benedict. Eggs were perfectly poached. The dish came with a side of seasoned potatoes. I asked later if you can substitute the side with grits with cheese. I was told yes. The mimosas were good. Many flavors to choose from. The cranberry I think had the best juice to champagne mix. The next time I got the regular eggs Benedict. One of my eggs was over cooked. The next time I again got the crab cake Benedict. This time all eggs were perfectly poached. My husband got the sausage and egg hash on our 2nd trip. He said it was perfectly spicy. The next time he got the shrimp and grits and said that was equally as good. Unfortunately I didn't have my phone with me during the visit at this establishment on Sunday, July 11th and was not able to take pictures. I had wanted something light and fresh for lunch since it was another hot day, so I decided to go with a Cobb salad, and exchange the blue cheese for mozzarella. What I was served was al plate of chopped romaine lettuce, croutons and mozzarella cheese. I pointed this to the waiter, whom looked puzzled to why I questioned if this was the Cobb salad I ordered. Lol! He was nice but I was just annoyed about the food. Cutting to the chase, waiter explained that there was a new chef, had the salad remade, was told that they don't have mozzarella cheese and what was on the original salad i had was shaved Parmesan, ummm no, but didn't feel like making an argument out of it, so I just said, okay. The so called Cobb salad that was seated in front of me was old lettuce, old small diced cucumbers, sliced cherry tomatoes, a couple sliced red onions, very dried out chopped chicken pieces, an overcooked /old boiled egg sliced in half and to top it off; grated Parmesan cheese and crumbled bacon. That is not a Cobb Salad! And how does one mess up a simple salad! For $17, this was awful and expectations for the chef to not know how to make a salad is unacceptable. I'm not sure the excuse about having a new chef in the reason why, but the salads listed in the menu aren't special or unique recipes to mess up nor the expectation of this type of establishment a patron is served. read more

I'm leaving 3 stars for this review based on past and current visits. We've been before for brunch mostly and each time was a good meal. Tonight however was bad. Ordered a sea bass special. Fish came out raw. Asked for it to be cooked more which was done promptly. However when it came back out it was still terrible. Worst preparation for fish I've ever had. My daughter offered her chicken which she order to accompany the fettuccini Alfredo which was also inedible. All this said the sever noticed I did not eat the fish after "fixing" it and removed the meal from the check. Thats good but the specials were to benefit a young man with health issues and now we have situation where I had a terrible meal and this young man does not benefit from the purchase. read more

Will absolutely never step foot in this establishment again after the classless way in which my family and I were treated while attempting to enjoy a Saturday brunch. Mind you I've been to this establishment many of times with family, friends, date nights etc. My young (4.5 & 3 year old) children are big into their "dress themselves" stage, which nine times out of ten I'll support. Today was one of those "dress themselves" days. It was also a day in which my daughter chose for us to wear matching jackets and my (one of a kind, hand made) Stetson. We walk in at 1130am to the main floor completely empty with the exception of the 4 top next to the host stand, which was occupied by servers sitting there socializing. Not a soul was at the bar, nor were anyone waiting to be sat. There was ZERO noise from the (typically) noisy upstairs area. In fact, there was very little movement at all. The young, blonde male host asked us if we had a reservation, which we did not. This usually is a non issue as at most our wait is typically 15 minutes. He looks down and horribly pretend plucks at his tablet and states the next available opening for a 4 top is 1245. I say "uh... ok? nevermind" knowing it is 100% bs, but not caring to even engage. This is until the lovely (sarcasm intended) host states.... "IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A CHEAPER OPTION, MIGHT I SUGGEST..." Which is when I officially realized it wasn't that they COULDN'T seat us, they just didn't want our business because we didn't fit their bougie "style". I told the host his statement was absolutely in poor taste, to which he just shrugs his shoulders. I guess my children and my "ensembles" didn't fit this new Old Town "flair". My hat alone cost more than this kid makes in 3 months. My jacket and boots would take another 6-9+ ... but clearly we need a "cheaper option" for me to take my 25+ percent tip to. Our server was very good. The food overall was nice. My dish of Butternut Squash was flavorful, but the brussel spouts were practically raw when they were supposed to be roasted. Our biggest reason for giving a 3 star was the staff started cleaning all around us during our meal at 7:45pm. There were other patrons sitting eating as well and it was very disruptive and not very appetizing to see a person sweeping and carrying large trash bags around the room while eating. Warning to all who enter! I have tried this place numerous times now, giving it the benefit of the doubt. After all, it's hard to leave negative reviews on small town resturants! But after TRYING MY HARDEST to like this place, I'm convinced that the small town owner must seriously NOT CARE about his resturant at all? Or at least never visit there in person to oversee the complete and total chaos taking place. For one, the bartender with short brunette hair is always wasted. The last time; she didn't even put in our order after we gave it and we waited 45 mins until she asked us if we wanted food. We were there probably 3 whole hours just to try to get a burger. This time, the burgers showed up with NOTHING ON IT. No lettuce, no tomato, nothing. When I inquired about it, we got attitude, and a wholly unsatisfactory response. They should've at least comped our meal. Meanwhile 18 year olds in skin tight leggings are falling over each other trying to get everyone's orders in as the place is always packed ALTHOUGH I CANT UNDERSTAND WHY! They're usually loudly gossiping about something unsavory in the corner too. I'm convinced this resturant is owned by private equity or a massive corporate conglomerate because NO WELL MEANING small town business owner would allow these things to take place! Visited Denim & Pearls, again yesterday. Had lunch with my best friend visiting from out of town last week and again yesterday with girlfriends from high school. Made a reservation since this is a busy eatery and we were seated promptly. The service and food were very good. Nice vibe in this restaurant and ample parking behind the building. We went for brunch this past Sunday. We made reservations via Yelp which I would recommend, but some folks did walk ups and got a table as well. The brunch here is no joke. Everything is good. First time visiting Denim & Pearls. We came for Mussel and Martini Monday! The options of mussels were nice (garlic, chorizo, blue cheese and bacon, and a tomato based flavor). All were good. We also tried the cilantro lime wings, meatballs, and mango & goat cheese fritters. All were very good, would order again. The martinis weren't particularly my vibe, but they did taste good.
