Deniz Mediterranean serves beautifully presented dishes, but my experience was mixed. The Turkish dumplings looked great, yet had very little meat inside, which made the dish feel flat and unbalanced. The filling should carry the flavor, and it just wasn't there. The sauce was another surprise. I've never said this in my life because I normally love sauce, but there was far too much of it, and it was pretty much flavorless. Instead of elevating the dumplings, it overwhelmed them without adding anything to the taste. This was not a pleasant experience. Other tables that came in after our group of 4 received food and beverages before we even got water 15 minutes after being sat. We were quite disappointed that the servers did not double check with the kitchen before bringing out the food as we asked for plain French toast and Turkish sausage and received French toast with fruit and chocolate and bacon. The person who ordered the food is allergic to fruit and cannot eat pork. The servers gave a look that our table made an error when ordering. There was not any apology for the order error and after 1.5 hours of not good experiences, we wanted to quickly leave. Will not return. read more

Here are our ratings for the foods: Pancake tacos - 4 stars - Pancakes were folded around eggs, cheese, and bacon. My husband said that the tacos were slightly falling apart, so he ended up eating the pancakes separately from the other ingredients. He would have preferred that the bacon be cooked longer to get crispy. Nevertheless, the ingredients were very fresh and tasty. Waffle Heaven - 5 stars - This waffle was a large size, and it was topped with Nutella, strawberries, bananas, caramel sauce, and walnuts. On the side was cream. I really enjoyed the flavors. Mushroom sauté - 4.5 stars - This entree had such a wonderful aroma! It contained lots of mushrooms, green peppers, onions, melted cheese, and some eggs (and no tomatoes at my request). It was similar to scrambled eggs with vegetables mixed in, but it contained fewer eggs. Sausages - 4 stars - My husband ate a few small sausages. I took one bite, and I thought that they tasted alright. My husband gobbled them up. Hummus and pita bread - 4.5 stars - The pita bread was fresh and warm and tasted very good. We would have preferred a slightly stronger flavor to the hummus. Vegetarian sauté - 5 stars - This entree contained eggplant, green peppers, onion, garlic, tomato, and potato, and I greatly enjoyed the flavors. The serving size was so large that I had leftovers for the next day. Chicken kebab - 4 stars - Chicken thighs were marinated and grilled with herbs. The meat was very juicy and cooked well, but my husband wanted a stronger marinade and different sauce. Baklava - 4.5 stars - I received a generous serving size of four pieces. I've been here several times for a small falafel snack, a larger kabob dinner, crepes, breakfast, wraps, and a large catering order. The food tastes like someone just made it from fresh, scratch ingredients according so their grandma's recipe. Not a Sysco flavor in sight. The menu is unique and doesn't look like it was workshopped by a marketing team. Falafel is served on a big bed of hummus and the plate is filled with chopped salad along with pitas. Breakfast was really special, menemen is tasty peppers and tomatoes with eggs scrambled in, the lamb breakfast was so rich and savory, the potatoes crispy. Crepes rival any crepe restaurant with sweet choices for any taste. The kabobs and rice and chopped salad with hummus, baba ghanough, pita, hot sauces, rice and baklava for dessert plus a couple servings of falafel were catered beautifully and made everyone happy. We picked up the order in the foil tins, drove home, and served immediately. The Turkish coffee is short and strong. Regular coffee is good too. Other soft drinks and teas available. No alcohol, not sure if BYOB would be appropriate or not. The atmosphere is cute with cute decorations. The service is sweet, very quiet and casual. Ask for anything you need. These are nice people. Dinner this is the absolute worst restaurant I've been to in the last five years start with the atmosphere. It's a lobby or waiting room of a repair shop. That's all poorly done. They got these furry chairs. Something that you would consider putting on your toilet seat, it's a joke no music very quiet in there. Hear everybody talking now let's get to the best part. The waitress is very slow. Took 15 minutes for us to get our drinks then I ordered lamb shish kebab which is like a signature dish for Middle Eastern. Restaurants medium rare it comes out well done I send it back and they cook it more well done and the salad that they serve with it is all the end cuts at the very end of the lettuce with chunks of the stock terrible. The food was absolutely Horrible. I would never ever recommend this place for anybody and the lamb is poor. cut of meat very difficult to even eat and my wife's dish was just as bad. Great contrast in flavors-- salty cheese, acidic olives, sweet honey, umami from The menemen. Crisp cucumbers fresh tomatoes . Came upon Deniz during our Memorial day travel day and it was such a good find. Came with a party of 4 around lunch. They have a very extensive menu, with even American breakfast options like crepes, waffles, omelettes and pancakes. I opted for one of the Turkish breakfast options - scorched egg/kavurmali yumurta. Our table again got the Nutella nirvana crepes, cheese and egg pide, chicken kebab and falafel. Also got two Turkish coffees which came in a really cute coffee set. Everything was delicious. It was my first time having the Kavurmali and pide. I thought the dough for the pide was perfect. It was still soft but crispy after a light toast the next day. The pide was a big portion so we had some leftovers. The falafel was pretty good too - seasoned well with a right amount of crunch. Came with a refreshing salad and lots of pita. They recently changed their name from Ross Cafe to its current name in order to help the community gain better insight into the type of foods they serve. Their menu is very extensive and filled with authentic Mediterranean dishes. Our server, as well as most of the restaurant staff, are Turkish. Wise decision to tout who they are and what they serve, but I must add they feature a fairly sizeable breakfast menu that is available all day! I stopped by here two Saturdays ago for dinner. My wife and I had been eyeing up Deniz Meditteranean since it had opened and this just happened to be a night that we could eat there. After going to their website, we placed an order through there which ended up being slice life. We had chosen 5:15 PM for when the food would be ready and it was ready at 5:20 whenever we arrived. The inside was somewhat small with tables that seated about 30 people. Its decor was fun though with lots of flowers hanging down from the ceiling in the colors of pink, purple and white. I quickly had my food and was on my way when tragedy struck. Since it was icy outside, I reached for the railing and the bag that was given to me broke. Food went all over. Upon showing the broken bag to the hostess/server, he asked if I had time to wait for fresh. They gave me a time of ten minutes and I opted for it. While it wasn't my fault, I still felt bad and likely would have kept a hand under the bag except for step with the snow/ice. For dinner on this evening I ended up ordering the yougurt lamb shish while my wife ordered the Turkish manti dumplings. My meal was described as yougurt lamb shish served over crispy buttered bread and garlic yogurt and served with rice while my wife's was described as Manti dumplings topped with garlic, yogurt sauce, and oil sauce with mint and paprika. Both my wife and I enjoyed our dinners here but we were on the same page that there was just too much yogurt. My lamb was deliciously seasoned and tender and I sort of wish that I could have tasted it more over the sauce. Then the sauce itself was good as I enjoyed the mix of the red sauce and the garlic yogurt, but as mentioned earlier, I think it was a bit heavy on the yogurt. Last but not least I enjoyed the cut flatbread underneath as it added some body to the meal but I would have been hard pressed to tell you if it was buttered or not. My wife also enjoyed her meal here, especially the filling of her dumplings and only wished she could have tasted it more without the yogurt. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. Both my wife and I really saw a bunch of potential in the flavors, now if there just wasn't as much yogurt. read more

Met a fried here. She got their first and got us a table as it started getting busy. She was instructed to let me know to just park behind here as the parking is very limited. Inside is colorful and full of character. They had a really cool mural painted on one of the walls. Our server was very nice and helped me in deciding what I wanted. I got their manti dumplings as I wanted more of a lunch item. It's a dumpling filled with meat and spices then topped with garlic, yogurt sauce, and oil sauce with mint and paprika. I ordered a Turkish dish as the restaurant advertised to be Mediterranean. However they had plenty of American breakfast dishes. I noticed their pancake tacos seemed to be popular at other tables. My dish was full of flavor and everything I expected. It was served with a side of bread that was fresh and complimented the egg scramble well. This is a funny little place specializing in Turkish food It doesn't have a lot of seating, but it does have table service. I went with the group and we ordered a lot of different things. The baba ghanoush and the pita were very good-the pita was not like that dry stuff Aladdin has. The rice was perfectly cooked. The lentil soup was very tasty and like many Middle Eastern restaurants. It was kind of brothy. Three of us ordered it and it was not heated enough, but they happily heated it back up for us. The Greek salad was inexplicably, served with mozzarella rather than feta and did not have much flavor. Really it wasn't particularly good at all because it was tasteless. That was one of the downers of the experience. We got one lamb PIDE. And one cheese. These were a nice size and had good dough. The lamb one was a little bit short on lamb. French fries were piping hot and a nice portion. The shepherd salad also had mozzarella on it. The menu said fed up and it was mozzarella. We also ordered what look like egg rolls, but we're actually supposed to be feta inside-these were really good, but we did not think they had feta in them either. They did not have any vegetarian meals except for falafel and things like the cheese pide. I wish these restaurants (the smaller Middle Eastern ones ). would serve some vegetarian things over rice. The service was friendly but lackluster, and they brought out dishes as they were ready rather than with any synchronization. This left one person waiting a little bit longer for her meal than others. They have a huge breakfast menu, which I would like to try. Bottom line: the food is good but has some weaknesses one of them being that it is under seasoned. Such a lovely place to dine in! I went for my birthday brunch and it was the perfect place for a peaceful chat over a delicious breakfast. The decor is beautiful. They have a great menu including both Turkish and American style breakfast items. I really liked their coffee, and have never had such delicious scrambled eggs before! So glad we stumbled on this place while out shopping in the North Hills on a Saturday morning. Started off with some Turkish coffee which was small but mighty...intense flavor but not bitter at all. They provided plenty of pillow-y soft homemade flatbread, which was needed to scoop and soak up all of that delicious sauce. It was seriously so good! It is served chilled with warm pita bread. Lots of great flavor and a kick that hits you after a bite or two. I'd come back just for this. My entree was the ground lamb pide. I enjoyed it but I'd probably try something different rather than order it again. (Mostly because there are so many things I want to try). I was given the dinner menu (understandable since I was there shortly before 7) but I was told you can order from the breakfast menu all day as well. The menu consists of many Turkish classics as well as more American items (ex- paninis, waffles, French toast, etc). I tried their Kasarli Pide. Pide is a bit like Turkish pizza. This one came with cheese and egg. I thought it was really tasty! Great portion and fair price. It's cut up into handheld pieces. The cheese has a nice saltiness to it, and the crust is thin (a bit thicker on the ends). The egg was so good on this pide. Added a slight sweetness to it. The texture might be a bit different from other pizza-type foods, but it's delicious! All in all, I really liked my meal. There are so many delicious items, and I think I need to try some more. Once in we met the owner fabulous woman and very kind. we started with Stuffed grape leave and Turkish coffee. The grape leaves were great and the coffee was good (i prefer the coffee served with the soft candies coated with a velvety powdered sugar). We ordered Hummus and Pita as well as a Lamb gyro meat platter. The hummus was fair, tasted as though there was only puréed chickpeas (no garlic, lemon or tahini). The dinner arrived and the gyro platter had good flavor but there were small chunks of meat that were very hard (seemed light it was microwave). Then there was the salad and the lettuce was wilted and brown. It was not my favorite Mediterranean food experience. read more
