    Tsoureki French Toast

Anthos is an authentic Greek Bakery & Cafe with everything you could possibly want. I went to Greece on my honeymoon, and this instantly transported me there! They have bakery shelves full of baked goods, desserts, and breads to try! To order, you stand at the counter to place your order and then take a seat for them to deliver your order to you! When my group arrived, there was a long line and many of the tables were taken. My group tried the dip sampler and everything was absolutely delicious. I had the Tsoureki French Toast that was so light yet decadent and complex with flavors. I also got the Loukoumades, Greek donuts. I wish I tried these in Greece and didn't get a chance. They were soft yet crispy. One member of the group got the quiche, which was thick and PACKED with flavor. Absolutely delicious. Another friend got a Croque Madame, which wasn't super special. Overall, this place was absolutely delicious and I cannot wait to try many more of their dishes!

Just a good hang for friends and brunch

I have had the best experience getting off the willow station train and walking over for a nice early dinner. Food was exceptional, Spanakopita with a side salad. Service was great, knowing to walk over to the counter (helpful reminder, before getting a seat.) ambient peaceful ambiance, enjoyable and pleasant to request a macha latte as a drink on this chilly evening.

Anthos is so worth the 30 min drive from the city! I went late morning on a Saturday and it was busy, but we didn't have a problem getting a table. We sat on the back patio which was lovely and quiet. The food came out pretty fast considering how busy it was! The coffee took the longest because the espresso machine had broken down after we ordered, but they fixed it; it was worth the wait! I got the breakfast sandwich with bacon and avocado and my mind was blown. The brioche bun was so buttery and fresh. I ate it so fast. My friend got the avocado toast and loved it, she said the sourdough was great! We both got pumpkin spice Freddo cappuccinos and loved them; not too sweet, perfectly balanced syrup to coffee ratio! We also got some pastries to go: almond croissant, ginger molasses cookie, chocolate chip walnut cookie, baklava. All were so delicious! Definitely one of the best almond croissants in the Pittsburgh region! All the staff were so nice, and handled the busyness with grace!

Loved Anthos! Tried it for breakfast over the weekend and it did not disappoint. Brought my almost 2 year old son with me and they had high chairs available as well. I got the avocado toast and added eggs and ordered him the kids scrambled eggs and added cheese. Absolutely delicious! He devoured all of it and wanted more. All of their breads and pastries look to die for, I have a nut allergy so I couldn't indulge. The staff was awesome about my allergy and notified the kitchen. Will be back next time to sip on some coffee too!

Desserts were pretty good but not out of this world. Food otherwise was the same. I'm not sure if it was because of so much hype that I was a bit disappointed. I do want to give it another try because of all the good reviews. FYI: place is pretty small and you order before you sit so who knows if there will be a table by the time you order.

I always have loved Anthos! It's close by to our home. The staff is always so lovely. I love their yogurt bowls from here. And their coffees are always made with so much love.

Breakfast sandwich, side of lemon potatoes

My daughter is staunch on her anti- brunch take, so I've only ordered delivery from Anthos... up until now! I had a bit of kiddo-free time, so I decided to trek over to this adorable little place for a bit of "me time". When I arrived, it was super busy! The staff was wonderful, and didn't bat an eyelash about making sure that everyone was taken care of quickly and immaculately. I got a brioche to go, but was starving so I snuck a few bites in while waiting on my sandwich. This was probably my downfall. The sandwich and side of potatoes were gigantic! The sandwich had a heavy amount of eggs and two slices of bacon. I also opted to add avocado. While tasty, I am definitely used to a harder bread being used. The bun was very soft and fluffy, and surprisingly held up pretty well to the heft of the eggs. It was a bit messy, but didn't get soggy as would be expected. The lemony potatoes were delicious. I could have just ordered those and been happy. My caffe freddo was so delicious! I would go back just for one of those. All in all, I'm pretty sure my kid is going to be pretty mad at me when I make her come to brunch with me here soon...

Unbelievable experience. I got the spicy feta danish which had creamy feta, béchamel, and spicy roasted tomatoes which were juicy and vibrant in flavor. Best pastry I have EVER had. My friend got the French toast which was so soft and sweet with something that tasted like a date syrup, pistachios, and cherries. Also, the best French toast I have ever had. It took about 25 minutes on a Sunday morning to be served after ordering. To top it all of that, the personalities of the workers are fantastic - such sweet and kind people!!! Can't wait to come back! Amazing experience

Anthos is an amazing spot for authentic Greek pastries, breakfast, and lunch! Highly recommend if you're anywhere within a 30 minute radius, trust me, it's worth the trip. We went on a Sunday morning, and while it was very busy, we were easily able to get a seat on the back patio. If you're with a group. I'd suggest getting an array of pastries and small dishes, so that you can sample as much as possible. We honestly couldn't pick a favorite, it's all so good! The waitstaff are so kind and knowledgeable. 10/10 would recommend!

Stopped in to grab something little to eat on the go after my son's hockey game and man the options were overwhelming. All the food looked amazing, I wished I had done more research on what to order because so many delicious options. The workers were extremely friendly. You order at the counter and then can sit down if you choose. Quant cozy little spot can't wait to go back and dine in. Definitely check this spot out if you are in the South Hills.

    Chicken Souvlaki Lunch

Awesome awesome and more awesome. I had the chicken souvlaki lunch and it was so good. The chicken was super tasty, the pita was perfect consistency, and the whipped feta was incredible. The only thing that made each part even better was combining them all together. It was a larger plate than I expected but I couldn't stop myself from eating more even after I was full.

    Greek salad - excellent !

Wonderful little spot with a vibrant, bustling energy. If you go at peak lunchtime, they'll be a long line. I had the Greek salad and it was amazing! For a starter I shared the Tzatziki and Hummus with my friend and they were excellent. All of the ingredients were very fresh and clean. The pita and bread is so fresh and soft. My only issue was not being from the area, parking is a hassle. They are situated on a corner that's incredibly busy with cars and a train track. It felt unsafe and as if there should be a crossing guard. If you park across the street and train track, there's no crosswalk that is a direct shot to Anthos. That is the only reason I would not go as often.

The employees promptly greeted and seated us, and I appreciated that they recommended specific menu items to help me choose. After a reasonable wait, the foods were brought to our table. Here are my ratings for what we ordered: Grilled Shrimp - 5 stars - Several large, juicy shrimp were on skewers and had been perfectly cooked. Sides were mixed vegetables and a mix of rice and bulgur. Chicken Shish Kebab - 4 stars - The chunks of chicken were large and juicy and had a mild seasoning. On the side was rice pilav. Turkish Tea - 4.5 stars - This black tea was a good size and was served hot. Packets of sweeteners were available. The total price was $55 plus tax and tip.

Falafel appetizer was very, very hard and chewy. Even with a serrated knife it was difficult to cut! Shepherd Salad was fresh but was mostly red and green bell peppers. Donor Kebab was over cooked. Dry. Chewy. Tzatziki sauce was fine. I ordered two extra mini-cups of tzatziki to help me finish the donor kebab. (Extra $1). Bread was very good. We were confused as to where the actual restaurant was. There is a sign on Route 8, so we parked there, looked around, walked downstairs, only to find it was offices. We then walked upstairs and found that the entrance was actually on the other side of the building but accessible from the front. It's an interesting place when you walk in. We were quickly greeted and seated. It seemed as though the owner and family were working. The menu was interesting, not real large but sufficient. We had, who I believe is the owner, come to our table and ask what we typically like to eat and then she was making suggestions. We thought she was just being helpful. My wife finally looked at her and said, I'm sorry are you also taking flour order now? She replied well that's what I was trying to do. To me that was a little off putting. We all took her suggestions and ordered. The food came out fresh and warm. It was good. We all tried each others meals. We felt that what my wife ordered was the best. Seeing him still there, working hard after all these years, was genuinely heartwarming. We visited over a busy holiday weekend, and although things were hectic, I couldn't help but feel for the owner, who was doing his best despite his age. I just wish the younger staff had stepped in to help him a little more. The food had some great highlights. The lamb kabob was tender, juicy, and full of flavor, the hummus was delicious, the lemon potatoes were amazing, and I enjoyed the sampler platter with the stuffed grape leaves. Overall, Christos has a lot of charm, history, and heart. I truly hope this Pittsburgh staple is around for many more years.
