Literally have found a hidden gem. This place was empty but the food and service was not bad. The place looked really clean every no one was there. I got the cheesy garlic naan and the chicken Kofta which basmati rice. Literally heaven. I liked how you can choose your own spice level for each dish so that everyone can try different foods with killing your tastebuds. read more

Very sad to report that we had a not great experience here. We walked in to a mostly empty restaurant at 2 and they close at 2:30, so maybe that was the reason? But I did ask if it was ok for us to sit down and eat and was told yes if we order quickly which we did. The butter chicken was very dry and tough, the paneer was overcooked and like rubber - the butter chicken sauce was tasty. The rice and naan were good. Asked for water and was given a room temperature plastic water bottle (on the bill for $.99). The whole thing was weird and we both walked out and basically said "welp, not going back there". I'll give it three stars because it's a small business and the sauce was ok and the naan and rice were good, so maybe it was just an off day. read more

One of the few Indian restaurants around, this little International grocery adjacent eatery serves up some of the classic South Asian dishes while also offering some fusion favorites like Lamb Masala pizza. It's spacious and thematic inside so it's also a good place to eat out. Their service was admittedly limited on the evening we dined in as they only had the one waitress and one chef on site. Nonetheless, we still received our food is an fairly reasonable amount of time. As for the food, it's nothing crazy in the way of spices or ingredients but it's honest and very approachable South Asian cuisine. They've got your classics like Butter Chicken & Naan, a few more traditional curries plus a fun fusion menu which featured the pizza we enjoyed. That plus their lunch buffet makes this worth trying. Whether you live around this area or you're just visiting like I am, I would say stop on by. With a mosque nearby and easy access on your way to the airport, it's a good family spot in a good location. read more

Went here for lunch and it did not disappoint especially when you're doing a pickup order for takeout. The food is really tasty and way better than Mintt!! I had the chana masala with white rice and it was the perfect spice level and we had a salad which was a bit "weird" but it felt authentic to what was on it. The dressing was spicy which made the salad had more heat than your ideal typical salad from an American restaurant. A family member ordered chicken korma and the cheesy naan which they highly loved and recommend. They dislike spicy so when you do put "no spice", they do actually follow through unlike Mintt. Not truly shaming Mintt but since they are near each other, it would be best to go to this place since no spice or low spice @ Mintt's it literally spicy and there is no cut off limit. The service was easy minus there being a $15 charge minimum and parking can be hairy since it shares a parking lot with Goodwill and a small family owned food store. I've been on a curry kick lately so I turned to Yelp to make sure I found the best Indian food in the Burgh. Well, here it is! I ordered takeout, super easy via their website. Prices are super fair for how much food you get. Everything was packaged really nicely (though I would've loved some labels) and the service was fast and friendly. I decided on the chicken briyani as my entree. It was huge and filling. I loved the chicken, I just wish I would've realized there were some pieces of anise inside so I could've asked to have those excluded. I got an appetizer with potatoes, tomatoes, and chickpeas. Oh. Been here several times now and dinner service definitely isn't their strong suit... I say that because the times I've been during dinner, they seem to only have one server working the dining room, while the owner just hangs out behind the counter playing on his phone. It's tough for me, because I value service as much as the food, but I will say that they do an excellent job with their food! I'm Pakistani, so I prefer Pakistani food over Indian food and this place definitely fits the bill! The depth of flavor is present, so is the menu and all the items they have on it! Their roti is on point, Karahi is nicely done, palack has a great texture and flavor too. Only issue with their food is their watered-down yogurt mint chutney, which really should be thicker. Tried Kabab & Curry for the first time this past Saturday. I ordered ahead and when I arrived they had signs all over the door asking for customers to be patient as they were short staffed. Patient I was and it was worth it. We ordered the Chicken Tikki Masala Pizza, Aloo Muttar, Chana Saag, Tandoori Naan and Ghobi Paratha. Everything transferred very well to home and was reasonably priced. You may be thinking that is a lot of food for 2 people and it was. We really just wanted to try several items off the menu. We ordered them all mild spice. I wasn't a big fan of the pizza but I will tell you the other items were VERY good. My favorite being the Aloo Muttar. Second favorite was the ghobi paratha- be careful with this one because there is a kick to it! Kabab & Curry is an excellent spot to check out. Very important: check hours before heading in, I dove by several times and missed them. I was a lucky winner of an Instagram post, so I won a $25 gift card for Kabab and Curry. Of course, I spent that, and then some (I went a little crazy with the menu, it is all very affordable) it was so worth it! I tried a bit of everything this time, and was pleasantly surprised with how great everything was. My husband isn't a huge fan of Indian food, or anything with spice, but he enjoyed his Malai Chicken Tikka, and my Paneer Tikka Masala was delicious. Veggie Samosa were 5/5 stars. This is my new go-to Indian/Pakistani restaurant!! I wish I could give more than 5 stars! Firstly, this is a family-owned restaurant & all of the recipes are their own. The family's Mom tries every batch of meat that is cooked to ensure it it's quality. Secondly, the menu is huge & there are SO many options. We tried many dishes that I had never had before! 1. Mango Lassi: this mango yogurt smoothie was amazing. The texture was perfectly creamy & thick. We got one to-go too for a sweet treat for later! 2. Samosa Chaat: this was basically a deconstructed vegetable samosa with tamarind and yogurt chutneys. OMG! I never thought to order something like this. It was so good. A tiny bit of spice (1-2/5 level). The pieces of pastry in it stay crispy & didn't turn into mush. The dish is served hot but some of the yogurt chutneys were cold so it was definitely a lot of taste experiences at once haha! Absolutely delicious. 3. Chicken Tikka Masala Pizza: Yep, you read that right. I think this is pizza is better than a lot of regular pizza places haha! It's an Italian pizza crust with their own masala sauce, topped with chicken tikka & cheese. I couldn't stop eating this! No spice to it (which I like). The sauce is delicious and creamy. It's my two favorite foods (pizza & Indian) combined into something heavenly! 4. Lamb Korma: I was a little nervous to try this because I'm hesitant about lamb but wow, I'm so glad we tried this. The lamb was cooked to perfection - tender, falling apart. The flavor of this dish is incredible. We got naan bread to eat with this. One of my new favorite dishes! 5. Naan bread: So delicious! Crispy on the outside & light & fluffy on the inside. The perfect side 6. Pink Kashmiri Chai: this was so different but so yum! The color is awesome it has a subtle sweetness but honestly it was almost like a palate cleanser. This drink is served hot & has pistachios and almonds as a topping. 7. Gulab Jamba: Yum!!! These little fried dough balls are soaked in a cardamom flavored sugar syrup & omg, so good. Light & fluffy, golden brown, and the taste is perfection. 8. Suji ka Hawla: I didn't absolutely love this but I'm so glad I tried it. I think I went into it expecting it to be sweet but there was minimal sweetness. I had to wait a little longer at the restaurant for my take out order from a mix up in the kitchen. After I got home, my chicken curry was a meat dish and something other than curry. This sauce of the unknown dish and the chicken korma sauce were both oily and very small amounts of meat. The spring rolls and the garlic naan bread, however, were good tasting. We had the Aloo Tikka Chaat for a start which is a sweet heat appetizer. AMAZING. The tikka masala is my go to. The best I've ever had. So, this place is definitely the worth the high rating. I had to stop at dollar tree on a lunch break and saw this place and tried for high ratings. There is so much great stuff on the menu, I was a little overwhelmed. I asked for a suggestion and got butter chicken. I also go marsala fries. To be fair, I never have ordered butter chicken. I only use the jarred sauces. But this was fantastic and I couldn't stop eating it. I also liked the fries but would likely just get the butter chicken next time. My family ordered takeout tonight because we saw they recently added Indian style pizza (it's halal too!) to the menu and we just couldn't resist driving across town to get it. I picked the Chicken Tikka pizza with masala sauce and it was incredible. We also ordered vegetables korma, lamb/goat korma (the meat was so tender!), biryani, and garlic naan. All of the food was excellent. Since we were driving ~40 mins away I was afraid the pizza would be soggy by the time we got home but to my surprise it wasn't at all. It held up really nicely. My tip for reheating would be to warm it up on a nonstick frying pan for a few mins to crisp up the bottom then drizzle a little water on the sides and cover with a lid for another minute or so to heat through the cheese. Ordered delivery on a whim. I got the samosas, chicken kofta with chana (chickpeas), and kheer (rice pudding). The cost was moderately high in terms of portion per dollar, so I wouldn't say it's the greatest bang for your buck but the food is definitely good. Their kheer is definitely the best kheer I have ever had. It's super creamy, luscious, and indulgent. You can barely feel the rice, that's how smooth it is! I thought they had a fair portion for the pudding. There weren't too many nuts, raisins, etc to detract from the rice itself, which I prefer. Samosas were a great size and moderately crispy, not too oily as well. I think they were a bit too spicy for my taste. However, they had a good ratio of peas and other vegetables to potatoes. The sauce that came along with the samosa was a great balance of sweet and savory, with a little kick and a nice plum flavor. The chicken kofta with chana was the item that seemed a little small for $15. There were around 4 meat balls, which were definitely flavorful and quite good. They were still juicy even after waiting for the delivery driver. It's served with a portion of rice. The mild option still has flavor. I would have liked more chana, though. The ginger was an interesting add to the dish. I believe they add ginger to all their entrees. Overall, I recommend it if you're craving Indian food and are in the Dormont/South Hills area. They have many unique dishes, such as haleem and paya, that aren't available in other Indian restaurants. Prices are just a little high but the quality makes up for it in my opinion. read more

On a scale of documentaries to romances, Kabab & Curry puts me in mind of the book, Behold the Dreamers by Imbolo Mbue. I ordered takeout online, and I was super pleased with the easy online experience. I ordered the Tikka Masala Pizza, Chai, Mango Lassi, and Chana Masala. The restaurant was easy to find, and upon entrance, I was struck by the simplicity yet style of the decor. Instantly, I wished that I had opted to dine-in! The transaction was seamless to pick-up. And WOW, the Tikka Masala Pizza did not disappoint (In fact, this is the second time I've ordered it). The blend of flavors with a heavy layer of cheese was an absolute dream. I stopped here for lunch yesterday, in conjunction with a Yelp Elite event. This was my first time back to eat in this restaurant since pre-covid. I noticed that the menu has changed somewhat since my last visit, and they have also added pizzas to the menu. Another change is that they have discontinued the lunch buffet, and I was told that this is most likely a permanent change. Also, they now have gluten-free items available by request (in my previous review, you can see that in the past, I was told that GF items were not available (my wife eats gluten-free, so previously she was unable to order anything)). Another change I noticed is that they no longer offer glasses of water, they provide bottles of water to drink instead. For my lunch yesterday I enjoyed an Aloo Tikki appetizer (two potato cakes served with a Tamarind chutney), a Chicken Tikka Masala pizza, and a Garam (Hot) Masala (Spiced) Chai (Tea). I enjoyed my lunch, and afterwards, I ordered some dessert, Ras Malai, which was two chilled balls of yummy goodness, served in a sweet, milky liquid, flavored with Pistachio and Cardamom . . . that was an excellent dessert! Overall, I was glad to be back, but am a little sad to hear the buffet is no longer happening (I love buffets), but with the multitude of menu options, I am sure I will be coming back again sometime soon . . . On a Sunday late afternoon, I placed my order over the phone for several menu items, and the food was ready for pickup in about 30 minutes, so I had to leave home immediately to arrive in time! When I entered the restaurant, a female employee walked up to the hostess stand. I thought that she could have smiled a little more and had a more cheerful hello, but she went in the back to bring out a male employee who made lots of conversation with me while I paid. Here are my reviews for the individual foods: Chicken tikka masala pizza - 4.5 stars - By the time that I arrived home, this pizza had gotten cold, so I popped it in the microwave to warm it up. I had not previously eaten this flavor of pizza, but I really enjoyed the chunks of spicy chicken on top of cheese and the crust. What a wonderful way to combine Indian food with traditional pizza! Vegetable samosas - 4.5 stars - These samosas were a large size. The crust was perfectly crispy. The filling of potatoes, peas, and spices was very flavorful. Garlic naan - 5 stars - This naan was slightly thicker and denser than other restaurant's naan. It had many chunks of fresh garlic on top. Chicken butter - 5 stars - My husband does not like spice, so I requested a spiciness level of "mild." The cooks did a great job of making the sauce mild but still flavorful. The chunks of chicken were large and non-fatty. Chicken biryani - 4.5 stars - I had requested this spiciness level as "mild," and the cooks again nicely balanced the flavors of chicken, rice, and spices. Had a nice, hearty lunch here with some friends. My one friend really loves Indian food and this was a nice meet-in-the-middle place for us to get together. We were encouraged by all the positive reviews we had seen. We ordered a couple of different naan breads as appetizers. These were pretty tasty. For entrees, we got a couple of curry dishes, and my picky friend ordered his own plate of lamb. Everyone enjoyed their lunch, the flavors were there and the spice level was pleasantly challenging. After seeing the "Indian pizza" photos all over Instagram, I finally made it to Kabab & Curry Restaurant & Grill. I recommend going with a group so you can share several dishes. I went with my 4 with other people, and it was fun to try new things! Once we admitted to the owners that we typically order the same few items at an Indian restaurant, they gave us suggestions of things they thought we would like. We started off with the Samosa Chat which is like a disassembled samosa. They are vegetable samosa over chana masala (chickpeas) with fresh tomatoes, onions and home-made chutneys (mint and tamarind). We compared them to Indian nachos lol! So delicious and I will definitely order again! The rest of our group tried the Chicken Seekh Kabab which was a Succulent cylindrical kabab, made from ground chicken seasoned with herbs and spices, grilled on a skewer in the traditional clay oven (tandoor). They said the meat was juicy and tender. The Aloo Tikki were also great! They are potato fritters, mixed with herbs and spices, and baked using a traditional punjabi griddle (tawa). I liked dipping them in the mint chutney. Then came out the sesame naan and garlic naan. I preferred the garlic, but both were awesome. I like knowing that everything here is prepared fresh when you order it. It was absolutely the freshest Indian food I have ever eaten. On to the pizza! We ordered a half chicken tikka pizza and half paneer tikka pizza. The dough was soft and chewy, but crispy on the bottom. The sauce was my favorite part. It was tomato-y, but had all the Indian flavors you expect and love. It was VERY cheesy, since it had paneer tikka, mozzarella and provolone cheese, with cilantro garnish. The chicken tikka was a hit and everyone really enjoyed it. (We obviously had a full on feast). Next came the entrees! I tried the Fish Tikka Kabab after the owner recommended it. The dish was 4 salmon fillets marinated with herbs and spices in yogurt, and grilled in the traditional Punjabi clay oven (tandoor) served over a bed of rice. It was fresh and healthy and I loved the flavors! My friends and family loved the lamb biryani: Boneless lamb and basmati rice which are layered and cooked together on slow-fire, for optimal blending of flavors and herbs, and then sealed and steamed to release maxim aromas and mature flavors. The owner explained how they layer the dish. Other highlights were the chicken korma, and dahl lentils. You can pick the spice level - we went with a mild to medium. If I order by myself next time, I will order a medium level. For dessert, we shared the rice pudding, gulab jaman and chai. Drinking the chai while eating the creamy and sweetened rice pudding was a treat. Overall I obviously enjoyed this feast! I also felt comfortable because the restaurant is spotless. The restaurant interior could use a bit of attention but it's clean and the booth seating is comfortable. The staff are always friendly and the food comes out quickly.
