What? 5 stars for DENNYS!? Yes, my little Yelpings, it is so and there's a 1st for everything. No Dennys I've reviewed has achieved this mighty merit! 1st off, The hours posted here are wrong. They close at 10:00 p.m., not 8:00 p.m. My food was excellent, and we'll get to that in a second, but what put this place over the top and got that fifth star, was my server, Brice (sp)? This kid is a machine! Granted they weren't busy, but he was taking care of all the customers that were here, and very keen to detail. This guy definitely needs a raise or higher position. I walked in 45 minutes until closing. Now at most Denny's wait staff would scoff, sigh, and roll their eyes and reluctantly show you your way to your table. Brice? Took care of a customer that was paying, let me pick where I wanted to sit, cleaned off my table, got my drink and took my order. I'm a pain in the ass sometimes when it comes to ordering, so I ordered a Cobb salad with salmon, that didn't want any carrots or croutons, and wanted both balsamic and blue cheese dressing. He didn't need to write anything down, told me he would get my order just the way I wanted it, and boy did he!! He came back to check on me and refilled my drink. This is one of the best salads I've had at a Denny's, at least aa really long time. Decorum is your typical Denny's, and one of the cleaner restaurants I've been in, I can say. I knew exactly what I wanted for supper when I knew I was getting here from Jersey. And this is one of the rare times that I was excited and anticipating great meal, and actually got it, with a side of excellent service. Thank you Denny's Brookeville, and thank you Brice for being the benchmark and setting the bar for what Denny's nationwide SHOULD be! My cousin and I stopped in for a late dinner while we were on the road. We were greeted right away by Brandon, our server. I kept it simple and ordered a cheeseburger with extra pickles only and a side of fries. Our food came out not too long after ordering, and everything was fresh and piping hot! The cheeseburger was juicy and not overcooked which I appreciated! My only complaint is that the meat was a bit on the fatty side. The pickles were crunchy & extra sour(just the way I love them). The fries were ok (not amazing, but they did the job). Brandon was very sweet throughout our visit. He even let me take a pic of him. He looks like someone I know. I had to show my friend the pic of his look-a-like. I didn't order dessert since it was already pretty late. The experience overall was pleasant! She took the dirty dishes away without us asking. Drinks were kept full. The only thing I have neg to say is the place needs more staff as it took 10 minutes to get a seat. I was traveling on I-80 west and stopped at Denny's for lunch. It was a little after 1:00 pm and wasn't busy. Five tables were occupied. I was seated quickly. I thought I would be able to get back on the road in good time. Boy, was I wrong. My order was taken after a few minutes wait. I ordered two eggs scrambled, bacon, a short stack of pancakes, and iced tea. I sat at the table without my drink. The waitress was nowhere to be found. 15 minutes later my iced tea arrived. The rest of my meal arrived another 15 minutes later. I understand staffing is a problem in restaurant industry but I was only one of a small number of orders. I should have realized there would be a problem when a customer walked out earlier after waiting a long time for his order. The waitress looked in wonderment with plates in her hand and the customer was gone. I've been to other Denny's while traveling. This experience isn't typical. Hopefully Denny's send in a manager who can turn it around. read more

Sheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet Let's start with what's good. The place was clean and people are employed. Worth 1 star I suppose. Cons: The wait here is longer than at the finest steak houses in Manhattan. The wait would be non-existent if staff would buss the tables quicker. If you sit people and at least have their drinks ready, they forget about the 45 min wait to get their food. That's right folks, moon over my hammies will take at least 45 min - 1 hour plus to get to your table. With terrible service in between. Ordered a coffee, no silverware to mix the sugar. Asked once for a spoon, 10 minutes go by, no spoon or waitress in sight. I walk towards the front to try and retrieve silverware myself where the hostess stand is, no silverware. I sit for another 10 minutes as the waitress wants to have an a riveting/ unnecessary long conversation with another table, I ask again for a spoon. It comes 2 minutes later after getting body language that my request for the basic necessities was such a burden. After 22 minutes, I finally get to stir my sugar in my now cold coffee. Do I get offered to warm it up? Of course not because this place offers service that is below a McDonalds drive thru. Across from me was a couple whom I thought were just hanging out, passing time had received their food order. I had to ask how long they waited as they were there before us! They waited an hour plus for food. (They left 0$ tip, I don't blame them) We would have walked out and we were 5mim from doing just so. Food came out, it's was ok. Complaint was the bread in my sandwhich was drenched in butter, it was wet. Small portion of home fries. Was finally able to get a refill of my coffee when the food came, as it sat empty most of my hour and half Denny's of Brookville adventure. When I went to pay, they had the nerve to ask how my experience was. I said terrible and the hostess said "we've been getting that a lot lately". You don't say? The reviews at this establishment have been crappy prior to covid, i should not have left any tip but I did leave 8%. Never left below 15% in my life. Didn't have the heart to leave nothing. Covid will not be tolerated as an excuse for sub service, terrible wait times and crappy food. Much of the issues would be alleviated if the staff was better managed. I understand they are working with less staff but you also have 50% less capacity. Waitresses and waiters who should be checking on customers or clearing tables run off into the abyss in the back, no where to be found. Whoever the manager is, needs his or her ass out there busting tables as well, seating patrons and filling coffee. Lead by example. Oh and the owner, Denny's corporate would end their contract with you ASAP. This place gives them a terrible name, you should probably be more hands on. Tried going here three times while I was in town first time they told me it would be a half hour before they can get served food so I said that was unacceptable realizing that Covid is still present in our society and people don't want to work... This is a truck stop and they earned one star because the bathrooms are clean; the food is terrible and will result in using those bathrooms. The food wss brought out exceptionally slow because it was burnt. There were 3 other tables and I had to ask another employee for help scraping the burnt off my sandwich. How do you ruin pancakes? Burn those too. If you believe this food is good, you have COVID because you have lost you sense of smell and taste. There is a nice gift shop next door, get a PA tshirt and eat elsewhere. read more

I love the Denny's food chain. But time after time this Denny's quality of food and service have been going down. From the good coming out wrong and overly greasy. Having been a busser, server, bartender, floor manager, and GM, I've had my share of experiences in the restaurant industry. Coming from this perspective, I felt horrible for the employees at this location. The servers, bless their hearts, were doing the best they could, but the place is ran horribly. Management/owner quality control, if it can be called that, is superbly lacking. I feel for the subordinates - ended up tipping $20 dollars on a $20 bill because I felt for them. I have to give 2 stars. 1 star for cleanliness and the other star for their food not getting people sick. If you come here I want to warn you that you will either die of old age or starvation by the time you get your food to come to table. Just getting a table here is hard. The servers love to watch people stand for an hour or more in a torturous line before getting seated. My two traveling partners were craving breakfast for dinner, so we stopped at Denny's. To start we shared the new menu item of strawberry pancake puppies, which is like the traditional hush puppies but instead of cornbread batter it's pancake batter that's fried in balls. Our plate of 10 came out with ridiculously sweet cream cheese icing, and then I requested syrup too. Even though I usually don't go for artificial fruit flavors I think that the strawberry ones might be better than the plain ones since the one-dimensional sugary flavor of the plain versions could be overwhelming, not that our appetizer wasn't already extremely sweet. It was also weird to eat a sweet appetizer before a savory entree, so maybe order it as dessert if you're curious. For my entree I got a scramble with egg whites, potatoes, and vegetables that also came with salsa. I suspected that the vegetables were frozen previously, but I was not expecting a classy dinner at Denny's so was perfectly satisfied with my meal for ~$10. I also have to mention that our waitress was so nice! I can see how serving tired and hungry travelers could take a toll, but she seemed really positive and chill and somehow I really enjoyed being served by her. read more

I normally like the food and service at this resturant. Maybe its because it is in a truckstop but the wait was very long and even after specifically asking for no pickles at all on my sandwich or on my plate, my burger arrived with a handful of then on it. The waitress mixed up our orders even though there were only four of us. My burger was in pieces like the cook chopped it on the grill. I would have sent it back but our waitress disappeared. I ordered a Bacon Jalapeno Burger first thing it would break apart if you tried to eat it the only good part of the order was the fries and sometimes the waitresses can be rude and forgetful.The second time I went I got the unlimited chicken meal. A large group came in unannouced and we were the only people in that section. Ultimately they forgot i got the unlimited so I give this denny's a 3 star. read more

Most of the time this is a well ran restaurant. The kids eat free nights are such nice things to offer and they are Saturday and Tuesday nights. You can get breakfast foods all day or just get a normal lunch or dinners. read more
