It was late on a Christmas night so this beacon of light was a joy to find. Being close to closing on this holiday, we were happy with this nice find. I enjoyed the skillet means sans onions. Hot off the griddle, it was enchanted with a nice wheat toast. Just one person hosting and serving, but it worked out well. The indoor seating is plentiful for a normal busy day. This night, the six tables of customers were together in the front area. As people finished up, the server kept up on cleaning and checking people out at the register. these location is conveniently located close to the I-5 freeway. They have some good values on the menu, such as the 55+ menu. One of the good things about Denny's is that it has plenty of options for everyone. You can order breakfast, sandwiches, hamburgers, salad, steaks, chicken, etc., so it is easy for everyone in a large group to find something on the menu that they like. Our food arrived fairly quickly and service was prompt. The location is a bit old and needs remodeling, however, it was fairly good overall. read more

Very good service and delicious food, especially good value on the 55+ menu. I ordered the scrambled eggs with cheddar cheese that comes with two bacon and sausage. Instead of buttermilk pancakes, I asked to substitute it with their crispy hash browns. Denny's regular coffee is 100% arabica and it's rich and aromatic (free refills, too). Love their coffee. Richard greeted me and was quick to seat me in a booth with a view. He was very kind and attentive. His service was excellent as he gave everyone his undivided attention. Right off of Interstate 5 heading south towards LA and before Kettlemen City, take the exit to the Chevron and Valero gas stations. Several fast food outlets are also open, but it's nice to take a break from driving to stretch the legs and use the restroom. The place is clean and comfortable with air conditioning for relief from the valley heat during Summer. I'll be back again to enjoy another meal at this Denny's location in Coalinga on I-5. read more

Stopped here on our way down to SoCal for dinner since they have Mac n cheese (my kids' specific request) and Harris Ranch had nothing they wanted to eat. While the food was fine (it was Kraft Mac n cheese - my kids' favorite, the seasoned fries was delicious, and our salads were satisfying), this site was sorely understaffed and the service really suffered. We spent over two hours for dinner, most of it was just waiting on everything from being seated, drinks, order taking, and food delivery. Our server was very polite and pleasant but clearly overwhelmed. Even giving us the bill, she told us to go up front to pay, but there was no one there! We just had to stand and wait until our server could come over and process the bill. This is an older building and looked like it needed some repairs and updates. The restaurant was clean, the food was good. We were in and out quickly. No long waits. We were seated promptly, the food arrived quickly. From the time we first walked in , to the time we left was about 45 minutes tops. We will stop here again when we travel through. We did not use the restroom, so we can not comment on that. I was pleasantly surprised by my breakfast here. I had a T Bone Steak and Eggs breakfast. It was a thick cut of meat. It had a lot of gristle on the outside, but it was more flavorful than the filet I had the night before! There was no wait to grab a table and the service was very good. This is for any travelers looking for something to eat, I'd skip this particular Denny's for the Taco Bell if the Starbucks is closed. Most Denny's aren't this bad. The one star is unfortunately the lowest Yelp allows for a rating. We understand we were here on a holiday, we understand that it was busy and they're probably doing the best to get food out. BUT a couple things to notice: 1. Our waitress rushed us into ordering but not in a good way. Again, we understand you're busy but don't make someone order something they are contemplating. 2. We got our cutlery but no napkins. The only way I could get napkins was when we paid at the counter. It wasn't for the lack of asking. 3. The pancakes with the plates did not come with maple syrup. We had to ask multiple times for our syrup. 4. We also needed butter but the butter came with the check and the toast comes dipped in butter. We had to squeeze out the butter from the toast and gave up on the toasts eventually. 5. When asked for the butter, our server was a little snappy. 6. The eggs had fish in them (we had vegetarians in our party). One of the loaded vegetable omelettes had a sausage in them. 7. None of us actually finished our food since each of us had something missing. 8. This stop set us back by 2 hours and we weren't any happier. read more

Okay. Denny's was right next to our hotel. Tired and just wanting dinner we ordered via phone call. Manager was very nice. We ordered a club sandwich with fries and a philly with a salad. Oh and cheesecake because we were on vacation lol! My husband walked to get it and came back with no salad. But the dressing was in the bag. I called, the manager was very apologetic and when James went to get the salad we paid for he was given a runt of a salad, shook his head and walked into the rain. Manager followed him and insisted on on upgrading my salad to a Real salad and sent him with an oj and apologized again. With that said, he did all he could. This is the thing, club sandwich was fine, fries were inedible, Cmon Cookie, even you wouldn't eat those! Philly was not very good either! My salad, after all was done, was the best part of our order. So, props to the manager for trying to make it right. The first thing when you walk in it's hot inside? AC was not working properly? Then I ordered ice tea and it was old and nasty! I ordered the chicken fried steak dinner and got 2 two inch pieces of bread , maybe a teaspoon of mashed potatoes and gravy? And maybe a teaspoon of macaroni and cheese? We stopped to get breakfast at this specific location and I was a bit skeptical after reading the reviews... but I am so glad we did! I came in with a friend on Sunday, July 1st around 12:30 PM and we could immediately tell they were short staffed, but trying to make it happen. About half of the tables were full, which made sense, because it's in a remote area off the 5 near a few gas stations. The gentleman bussing the tables saw us waiting to be seated, as the sign said, and said they'd be with us in a minute. After a few minutes we were seated. I noticed I could get a gluten-free English muffin and that made my day. I ordered the Grand Slam with a GF English muffin, scrambled eggs, bacon, and fruit. My friend ordered a Cobb salad with grilled chicken and balsamic vinaigrette on the side. Although there weren't that many people there it took quite a while, like 20 minutes, to get our food. The whole stop to get gas and eat here took exactly an hour so that says something because there was no line at the gas station and they are both close to each other and the freeway. When our food arrived my friend's food was great and mine appeared great, but the eggs and bacon were not even slightly warm. The eggs were cold and the bacon room temperature. I tried to eat it as it was but the eggs were so gross I had to ask them to please just put the plate in the microwave for a little bit, which they did. So, our food was good, but the service was not what it could have been in the way of speed. Everyone there was nice though and helpful so my friend and I will definitely be returning again! Both of us remarked as we left that it was a great place to stop for a bite to eat and a fill up on gasoline and we agreed that we should stop there when we are driving by the next time. Very poor customer service from the supposed manager "jasmine" who failed to give any type of resolution to a very minuscule problem regarding their malfunctioning claw arm game. She initially refused to come talk to me about the machine that stole my dollar and after coming out following a second ask came out and basically told me it's not her problem and to call the maintainer of the game in their lobby. Won't be going to Dennys moving forward as this problem could have easily been mitigated with minimal effort or customer service. As someone who managed restaurants my entire adult life this issue was something that shouldn't result in negative guests experiences. read more

Dirtiest dine in restaurant I have ever been to. Let's begin with the bathrooms, the floors are sticky and the smell urine perforates the room into the restaurant. I had to look for my own highchair as there was only one waitress and she was busy. I spotted the stack of high chairs and the first one I grab is sticky, dirty, and still had food on it. The busboy asked me if i was ok, I let him know I was looking for clean high chair and he just responded "ok", without offering to help or clean any of them. I decided to go with a booster seat. At the table, our drinks were brought to us. One glass of orange juice had dried up milk on it. So gross! There was a fly around us, my husband swatted it with a kids menu and the fly landed on the window sill, where a spider was quick to devour it. I look at the window and there is many fly droppings. The place is disgusting. If it's this dirty outside can you imagine the kitchen. The establishment takes advantage of the customers as they know they are one time diners. We stopped by this location on our drive back home! It's literaly in the middle of nowhere, But after a long drive, the Server Leonardo greated us in such an energeric way we felt welcomed. Leonardo was running the place and tended to our needs. Food was good like your average Dennys nothing special. We made an unexpected stop at a motel last night right next to this Denny's and they were close enough to order breakfast online and walk over the next morning. I only knew they were short staffed because (1) the food wasn't ready and (2) I overheard a conversation the employees had in the back. Although it seemed as if there were only three ladies working, no one complained, they were upbeat, friendly and just lovely. Being short staffed is not really a new concept at a restaurant that is practically in the middle of nowhere, but the positive attitudes and friendliness of the staff more than made up for the delay in receiving our order. I couldn't imagine anyone giving these ladies less than five stars when they showed up for work, did their jobs well and were happy to do so. Plus, the food was just as good as any other Denny's we've ever been. We would definitely go back and tip higher next time as well. read more

They close at 11pm. Which is not, in fact, 24 hours. The only excuse to eat Denny's is because it's the only thing open. It's the one thing they do right. Especially in places like this where there's nothing around along the highway. So when google says you're 24 hours, and your app says you're 24 hours, maybe you can find it in your heart to correct those times so people don't waste time in the middle of the night trying to pick up an order. Denny's is not necessarily reviewable but this trip down the 5, we stopped in and had the pot roast with mashed potatoes and gravy and it was so satisfying. It had a long roasted beef flavor and thick gravy. The chicken noodle soup was thick and hearty perfect after a stormy drive. The rest rooms were clean and there was parking right in front of the restaurant. We ate and paid $21 before tip and were in and out in 35 minutes. The only knock was the coffee was weak weak weak.
