The Ranch Kitchen at Harris Ranch is a solid stop if you're traveling through the area. The food was good, the portions were satisfying, and the whole place has a laid-back ranch atmosphere that fits the location perfectly. One of the coolest parts was seeing meats being smoked outside. It adds to the experience and lets you know they're serious about their meat. If you're passing through and aren't staying at the resort, it's definitely worth pulling off the freeway for a meal. Restaurant Review: Service is not great. It took us about 15 mins to get water from another person (not our waitress) and a total of 20 mins to get our order taken. We were not in a hurry but our section we saw others seated after in a different section and they got their food more smoothly. The section had larger tables but more communication from the person handling our table would have gone a long wait. From the point being seated, it took an hour to get our meal. We got no dinners rolls and our soup came with our meal. At the point of ordering we asked if the soup could be up-charged from cup to bowl and we were told yes. They instead charge us full price of a bowl instead of it being an up-charge (4 dollars vs 10). This should have been upfront and communicated. Disappointing experience and lot of the staffers were just chit chatting by the coffee station. Food for two adults and kids over 100 dollars was not worth it. We will not be returning. My previous two trips here out with my rig, I stopped by for lunch / afternoon tea next door at the Horseshoe Lounge in Harris Ranch. Today since it was packed I decided to get a table at the Ranch Kitchen. Its all the same, menus, servers. So previously having done the prime rib and filet mignon, I decided to go a different route, the Jack and John's favorite sandwich. I thought Id be getting thin sliced NY steak.....wasn't expecting a whole 10oz grilled steak. So essentially this is like the upgraded version of Jimmy John's Roast Beef Sandwich and for 40.00 / sandwich, you're getting your dollars worth in protein. I also did their steak fingers appetizer, drenched in some kind of red wine reduced, caramelized garlic herbs gravy with hints of Worcestershire sauce. Sauce was a little acidic, sour, and I would much prefer if it was like a Lee Kum Kee Branded Black Pepper sauce with oyster sauce base. But regardless, paired with foccacia sour dough, it was more than an Appetizer, and Id say a stand alone meal. Recommendations for those that don't want a big lunch: just order the appetizer steak fingers, and a clam chowder. You'll equally be full. read more

We stop here while we were on the road. They have stores inside and this restaurant and a bar. Their patio is not open so they are not accepting animals only service animals. Our dog is a certified service animal and because of that they were able to give us a table. We waited like 10 min and we were greeted pretty quick. Food is pretty expensive but tasty so is worth the stop. Along with the menu they gave us the requirements of the behavior of the service animal. I would love that they apply same structure of service for people who dine with toddlers and children's that do not behave. They throw tantrums and is pretty upsetting and disrupt the environment of the guest surrounding that table. My dog behave as she should compared to the table next to me who had a toddler who ... well... was screaming and crying .... I hate flies and there were a couple inside the restaurant... We stopped by Harris Ranch and had mixed feelings about the experience. The sirloin steak was actually pretty good--well-cooked and flavorful. However, the prime rib was just average and definitely not worth the price they're charging. For a place known for steak, I expected more consistency. The bread was a letdown--cold and hard, which is surprising given the overall pricing. When you're paying premium steakhouse prices, you expect better quality across the board, especially with sides and basics like bread. Service was also just okay. We waited longer than what I'd consider normal for a dinner service, and nothing really stood out in terms of attentiveness. First time visit for hubs and kiddo. While on our way home, hubs really wanted to stop by and give it a try. Hubs ordered the bone-in ribeye. Kiddo ordered the Top Sirloin. I ordered the prime rib. This is a great place to stop for a family meal when on the road. The service is great and yes it is kid friendly. I had the Tri-Tip Sandwich paired with their house Blonde beer. The meat was so tender and a generous portion. Every bite was delicious and satisfying. I was not a fan of the beans but remember this was just me if you love them beans go for it. The restaurant displays the old work tools used on a ranch such as lumber saws to the yokes used on cattle to pull a wagon or plow. If you enjoy their meats you can pick some up on your way home at the meat shop next to the souvenir shop. read more

This was my first time at Harris Ranch in a long time. This place continues to have great steaks, although the prices have gone up quite a bit since 10 years ago. The fried green beans with the special sauce is my favorite appetizer. The sauce is peppery with heat. The clam chowder was hot and delicious. The steaks were cooked to how we liked them. My first bite was underwhelming, but as I kept eating, it kept getting better. What was the most surprising were the vegetables! They were so simple and delicious. Service is on the slower side. It's seems like the good wait staff have gone and retired. If you're willing to sit through a sea of Tesla owners, you should try this place at least once. read more

Service was pretty prompt with providing water for everyone. We ordered the Ranch Burger ($18.95) and the Cowboy Rib Eye 24oz. ($69.95). The Ranch Burger was good, not too large, and came with lots of great french fries. We ordered The Cowboy Rib Eye medium rare and there were parts of the steak that were pretty rare, plus there was a lot of fat. My main complaint about the cowboy rib eye was that it lacked flavor. It tasted like bland meat. I've been to Harris Ranch before and have had really amazing steaks in the past, but lately, we've been disappointed with the flavor. Plus the fact that the rib eye was expensive, it should have been much better quality and flavor. We got the garlic mashed potatoes, which were good, but would be better with gravy. I didn't care for the cooked carrots, but the brussel sprouts were okay. Overall, the experience at Ranch Kitchen was mediocre, mainly due to the bland rib eye. If I could give this place zero stars I would. Service was TERRIBLE. I came here with my family and we only wanted a quick bite because we have a long drive. We stopped here to charge and that's the only reason why we decided to dine here. I ordered two appetizers, soup, & kid's hot dog. The meal took 50minutes for it to come out. We ordered before the table next to our table and they had gotten their meals before my family. They had ordered full meals while we had only ordered appetizers and soup. We were given a table where the sun was shining and I asked if we could switch but the hostess told me the other table was too large for my party of 4 (the booth I asked for was for 6). Mind you, the restaurant was not full and there were plenty of tables. Ok dining with sunglasses it is. Ordered a french dip skillet, ranch hand breakfast, a kid's cow poke breakfast, 2 OJs, an apple juice, green tea, and a croissant. While the french dip skillet portion size was big, it was very greasy and heavy. It was supposed to have spinach but I only found a few pieces of overdone spinach and there was so little, you could not even taste it. Taste was ok but it needed black pepper. The ranch hand breakfast came with potato hash, but they def give less hash than they used to. We were not given water so we had to ask for a glass of water. We used to enjoy stopping here for breakfast but it looks like the quality and service had gone downhill. Breakfast including 20% tip was just shy of $100. Passed this stop off I5 so many times so decided to try while using the supercharger. Really enjoyed the meal as the steak salad was deemed terrific by my daughter, I loved my Portobello Burger but only had half as someone nabbed the other half. So I nabbed her unattended bowl of soup which had chunks of tender steak. Staff was attentive and personable. Holiday decor was up and made for a very pleasant dining experience. The Bourbon Bacon Jam Burger is worth a trip back to Harris Ranch. My 1/2 pound burger was cooked perfectly (mediim) and came with an amazing bacon jam topping and crispy onions along with a funky, lucious cheese. The letuce was perfectly placed to keep the bun dry. Two nice pickle spears were on the side. The burger came with sweet potato fries that were perfectly crisp. One note: I found buried in my burger a broken off wood "doneness pick"...I'm pretty sure it was not visible when I cut the burger and hoisted half for my first bite. So caution! Yeah, $26 is pricy for a burger. That said, if you're looking for a pretty amazing burger, the Harris Kitchen Bourbon Bacon Jam burger is wortha try!! read more

For some reason I was craving a hamburger, but I didn't want fast food. I know a place (my hunger said) and next thing you know I'm driving to Harris Ranch. I opted for the kitchen side because I wanted quick service. It was just me & I didn't have to wait & was promptly seated. I ordered the portobello mushroom burger. I tried to go Vegan today, but I saw that it was only $3 to add a patty, so I did. In case you were wondering the ratio of fat to lean beef for their beef patties is 80/20. It's not super Lean, mid-level is the best way to describe it. I'm just curious if they have a lean Patti option available since they have their own meat facility. I also ordered a side of their homemade guacamole, and I can tell you it was freshly made. I ordered sweet potato fries as a side & now that I think about it I should've asked what type of oil they used to fry the fries.. maybe next time. My burger hit that craving spot and this hamburger was so big that I had cut it in half and save the rest for later . The Cheese bun added some extra flavor and addition to me adding mustard.. I think I mentioned before that this facility does not do Apple Pay and I did not have my wallet . Luckily for me i know my card information & they were able to manually enter it . Thank you, God for the wonderful memory because that's what I had to do to pay my bill. The ambience was kitchen casual. Nobody's judging you because they know a lot of people stop off the interstate traveling to from Los Angeles to the Bay Area. This place was busy on a Sunday afternoon. On our way home from Souther California is, we stopped at Harris Ranch for dinner last night. We were seated right away, our waitress was very nice and engaging, we never had to ask for a refill. Gave good recommendations and explained the dishes. I say about 99% of the people were travelers like us, coming in for a rest and a meal, clean restaurant, friendly staff. My husband and I both order the Ribeye steak, prime cut. I had mine with a baked potato and veggies, he had his with mashed potatoes, our son had prime rib fettuccine and it was all delicious. After I stopped at Bakery and picked up my favorite Lemon Bars and some cookies. Now I get a lemon bar anywhere that has them so I can try them out, always looking for the best flavor and they have it. This is our midway stop in our drive from NorCal to LA - it's the perfect midway point from where we came from and we went here last Wednesday and got here around lunch time. There's a huge parking lot - you will go to the first section where the restaurants are - there's an adult only area, the steak restaurant and the last one is Ranch kitchen. When we arrived there's a wait but it was only like 5-10 mins. We were seated by the booth and our server gave us enough time to check the menu. Me and my eldest son decided to share the 24 oz cowboy steak and my youngest ordered Jacks favorite sandwich. Food came was served promptly and at the correct medium rare that we requested. Cowboy steak is a bone in ribeye and it was a good portion for sharing. They provided us with an extra plate so it wasn't split for 2. It comes with soup or salad and that one was split - our server did say because it was soup they had to split it. I believe we picked the beef soup (forgot the name) and it had Mexican flavors similar to pozole but with shredded beef, really flavorful. My son loved his huge sandwich - it was open face so technically you can eat the steak separately but he gobbled it up like a sandwich. Meat was properly seasoned and wasn't chewy so I think it's worth to try for the price. Some parts of our ribeye might be a bit too charred for some. Restaurant is casual and comfortable - spacious so it's not noisy and clean restrooms. Would definitely recommend this as a stop in your long drive. Some reviews said the smell of cow dung was present but maybe because we came around lunch and it was really sunny - we didn't smell it outside. If youre looking for more affordable options they have bbq by the gas station. In the menu it shows a split charge but when I got my bill they didn't charge me for it. read more

After a long drive from San Diego, I reached the Harris Ranch Resort and immediately headed to the restaurant which was closing up as it was a few minutes before 9pm. They agreed that I could dine and treated me like I had arrived at a reasonable time. I ordered the open-faced Steak Sandwich and the sweet potato fries. It was the perfect meal. The steak was perfect. I was so glad I took the waitress's advice and went for medium rare rather than medium..." because you can always cook it more." I do wish the sandwich had a top bread and the lettuce wasn't shredded with a vinegarette, but the tomatoes were fabulous and the meal was great. Super steak! House wine was great too. This was my first time actually visiting and eating here and it will be my last. The place was clean and the staff was friendly though. Our waitress was helpful and attentive but the food was disappointing to say the least. Their gazpacho soup was apparently pretty good and the salads looked ok. The sandwiches (Tri-tip Sandwich, Ribeye Sandwich, Ruben Sandwich and Hamburgers) we ordered were cold and underwhelming. All of the food was not warm and the fries were cold. For the price they charge for their meals and all the good things I have heard I expected a well made meal served hot or warm at least. One of the people in our party had been their several months ago and they agreed that something had changed and they would not be returning. Of course their meat market and Country Store looked good. Stop by and buy a steak but I would skip this restaurant. Maybe their Steakhouse is better but after what I experienced today, I am not willing to chance it. Great place to stop for breakfast on our way to Santa Barbara, never been. I honestly didn't realize it was a hotel (Harris Ranch) when we first walked in. Place was actually very clean, nice decor. We got there as soon The Ranch Kitchen opened for breakfast and we were sat right away. There is a very strong cow smell outside but it didn't smell inside the restaurant so didn't really bother us. Service was quick, we got our food fast for having already a small breakfast crowd. I personally had the Ranch Hand a breakfast, a basic breakfast with Bacon, eggs and some country potatoes. I added sourdough bread with it, should have tried the muffins though as I saw them on someone else's plate and they looked great. My food as simple as it was, still amazed me. Hit the spot, eggs cooked perfectly, bacon crispy...loved it. My wife had the Avocado and Egg Toast, she received the eggs Poached, but afterwards tried it with scrambled eggs and she loved it better that way. She enjoyed her meal too. This was the first time ever trying Harris Ranch. I've always heard about it but never been. Was headed to SoCal and came here due to a car in our carpool needing to charge so while charging we ate. The wait was about 10 minutes to be seated, after be seated we ordered. Food came out within 25 minutes of us ordering. I ordered the breakfast sandwich made with tri tip (cooked medium) & my egg over medium instead of scrambled. Egg was cooked to perfection, when I smashed down on the top bun the yolk oozed out. The downfall of having a perfectly cooked egg on a sandwich is it falling apart on the first bite. The reason it fell apart is due to this 3 pieces of thick sliced tri tip that wasn't cooked as requested (it was actually cooked medium well) because I couldn't bite through it. I ended up taking the other 2 pieces off and eating it with a knife and fork and eating my sandwich with just the egg, cheese, and bread. My son ordered the breakfast burrito and looking at his plate a lot of some kind of liquid came out of it when he bit into and it ended up being a soggy burrito and falling apart to the point where he tried to rewrap it and eat it. read more

We shared our t-bone steak meal, and everything was brought to the table already divided. The portions were more than ample. The cherries or cranberries and the pistachios in the salad were delicious, but the raspberry dressing was not appealing to me. It was my husband's favorite, however. The rolls melted in your mouth and were so fresh. We were surprised that the meal also included broccoli and corn on the cob as well as the baked potato we ordered. A huge dish of sour cream and butter balls was more than enough for any spread we wanted to use. The meat (cooked medium) was exceptionally flavorful and tender. We opted not to have dessert as we had indulged earlier in the day. We found the pricing to be very appropriate, especially when sharing meals. read more

I stop here whenever I drive by. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Some of my favorite steaks. The staff is always friendly and everything on the menu is top of the line. I decided to order the prime rib burger which is priced at $39 I asked for it Medium and when I got the burger I was extremely disappointed.
