I placed an order online from the Denny's website today because it said they were open. Then after I place the order and pay, the restaurant calls and says they are closed because their cooks called out and will refund me. But they end up saying that the manager will make my food for me anyways. So I say thank you, and when I arrive at the restaurant (which is a ways away) the door is locked with a sign on the door saying "closed until 3." I tried knocking on the door, calling, but no answer. I see a worker inside and try to get her attention but she is either ignoring me or cannot hear me. No one bothered to call me and say "nevermind" or "we are closing now so we are going to issue you a refund." Even that I would have understood. But to tell me to come and then just close the restaurant with no way to pick up my order?? Just no response. I don't know how to get a refund from their website and Denny's customer service is closed for the holiday. 0/10 horrible business. read more

I ordered the Chicken Fried Chicken dinner with rice and corn and bread. Both chicken patties were burnt and the bread was burnt and my wife ordered the crepes and hash browns and the hash browns were burnt. I called to complain and was told to call back tomorrow. Sometimes, you get really lucky & get a great Denny's. This one is clean, quick, the food is good.

We went yesterday and were informed that there was only one cook and they would be leaving soon so therefore closing for the day. We would be the last customers to be seated. We weren't sure what to expect, but the cook did an excellent job. The food was only minimally delayed and quality was excellent. Delicious. The manager was very calm and made everyone feel welcome and comfortable. He made sure everyone was taken care of and that everything was running smoothly. He had a great sense of warmth and humor. We liked him so much my husband and I wanted to stay there and pitch in with the clean up. Very positive experience. Ugh. I know it's Dennys and I don't expect 5 star service... but some service would be nice. It's a Sunday morning and my expectations are in line with that... I don't expect fast at all. Angel was at the hostess stand and wrote our name down. She was sweet and funny.... enough that I remembered her name! Took a little bit for someone to take our drink order and at that point we were ready to order but she walked away before we could tell her. So we get our food order going and we are friendly people so we joke... she clearly gave zero about chatting because she looked at us like we were idiots. We order and wait for our food. The food wasn't even good for what you would expect at Denny's. My sandwich had some frosting crap on the side of it... but I couldn't say anything since she never came back. My guy got the loaded hash browns with cheese, onions, and gravy... YUK. Zero flavor in that gravy... it was like paste. Couldn't eat it. Took about 15 minutes for her to bring us our check. We were so ready to leave. Now let me be clear, the place wasn't packed... there were empty seats all over. Maybe they were short staffed... but then tell us so we don't feel ignored. The wait was horrible for the food and I'd say this was because they were understaffed which is not our fault as a customer they also didn't come and take our order in a decent time frame which added to the wait . The menus we received were sticky from who knows what and the utensils had food particles still on them so I requested plastic utensils and will stick to using them from now on. The restroom was decent but one stall had urine on the toilet and the other stalls door didn't lock which made your privacy limited because someone could basically walk in the stall while you're using the restroom. Lastly my French toast was burnt on the sides and it didn't taste good and my eggs had remaining oil or grease from whatever they cooked it in. Just a small additional thing they didn't have anymore honey how do you run out of honey especially in a diner with people who may request it over syrup. Overall the cashier was the kindest. I just moved to Dixon about 3 days ago, today on mine & my fiancé's first day off from work we deceived to get take out for breakfast from Denny's. We called & placed the order & while he was ordering he had the phone on speaker right next me to, as he was ordering he was asked the same questions regarding the order multiple times & when we asked for the woman on the phone to read it back, it was not correct. We made sure to tell her again & her her read it back once more. He went to pick up the order & when I was taking the plates out we were missing a plate of hashbrowns& eggs, I called & the lady told me we got what we paid for & never ordered 2 plates of eggs & hashbrowns. Although we ordered a all American & French toast with hashbrowns & eggs. I told her we specifically asked for eggs & hashbrowns & then the meal all American comes with that as well, so there should have been 2 plates. She told me she knew it was in there & what we ordered we got, then said she wasn't going to argue. I asked her name so I can then contact management & she wouldn't give me her name & put me on hold. In these hard times, she was clearly responsible for servicing an excessive number of tables when we arrived. Just a Dennys. Same mediocre food as other dennys. But in this location I was shocked at the state of the bathrooms. Not just dirty, that happens, but months of neglect. There were actually cob webs covering the stalls like little ceilings. A toilet brush thrown on the ground in 1 stall. obviously not new but I could see it hadnt been used on these toilets for quite some time.. Just nasty. Clean your bathrooms! My brother picked this joint for his after graduation get together. It was 9:30 p.m. once his graduation ended so we knew of course that Denny's would be open. Everyone knows what Denny's is like so I'll focus on the things that sets this Denny's apart. Our group of 8 was seated at three different tables separated a little from each other. I was surprised we didn't get some big round table somewhere to fit all of us. (The place was really empty, too, so that table probably doesn't exist.) Service was good. The desserts have improved in the last 10 years. The caramel apple crisp was pretty good (a little sweet though) and the Oreo cookie sundae and cheesecake looked good, too. Parking is a little confusing - there's a weird back entrance by a little construction. read more

Ok so it's Denny's. Don't expect much. This one is really hit or miss. Denny's used to be really good back in the day. Now, not so much. It's not even cheap anymore. You can go to outback and spend the same amount of $ for better food. The servers all act like they are asleep and also act like it's their first day. I ordered something with no sour cream cuz I'm allergic. So it came out with sour cream. She asked if it could just be scraped off? Umm no. Not ok. Make a new one. The portions have shrunk but the prices have gotten bigger. It is pretty clean from what I can see. They do give a pretty good military discount. AWFUL SERVICE. We came here on a Monday morning (literally just a few mins ago). The place wasn't even that crowded but the service was slow as HECK. I'm usually a fan of Denny's great service and their everyday value slams but I'm definitely not lovin the service here. This one particular waiter working the left side of the diner gave us the wrong order of the regular slam rather than the everyday slam. In all the other Denny's we've been to, they always knew which slam we were referring to. We got charged $4 extra bucks for two little tiny pieces of sausage. In addition, my sunny side up eggs were COLD and drenched in oil. The lady in the front desk was at least nice about it but the waiter gave us sass that really ticked us off. The food is good when items are available. Service however, is poor and unprofessional. Our server Luz came to our table and asked what we were going to order. As soon as I started answering, she cut me off to talk to the hostess about shift breaks, leaving me waiting to place my order. The conversation between them took a bit. Then we're told they are out of fries and onion rings. This has not been the first time they've been out of major items, we came here a few months ago and the same thing happened. Then as we are leaving Luz was condescending as she dropped instead of handing the bill in my son's hand saying "Sorry for the inconvenience." 3 1/2 stars, rounded off to 4. Wow....whole lot of bad reviews for this Denny's. Maybe it's time to show some love. If I was from out of town and checked Yelp I probably wouldn't come. But since I live in small town of Dixon with not too many options for breakfast we go here from time to time without checking the reviews. Every time we visited, we didn't have any of the bad experiences other reviews mentioned. When reviewing a business it has to be put into context. This is a Denny's so the expectations have to be in check accordingly. It is not Peg's Glorified or even A St Deli but a chain diner restaurant. What matters to me when I go to one of these locations is that the service is quick, coffee hot, and the food is ample and filling. So for this Denny's in Dixon I have checkmarks for all three. I actually quite like their skillets for breakfast, especially the new Ranchero. The service is always good, they regularly check for the refills or bring napkins and hot sauces. If you are looking for gastronomical delight it's ludicrous to even put Denny's into consideration. But among Denny's restaurants I've been to ( quite a few of them), this location is actually quite alright and I have no problem coming back. read more

I finally got the 3 AM Denny's experience. It was pretty damn great considering I had eaten dinner at 11 PM. I ended up getting the $8 deal with french toast, two eggs, sausages, hash brown and a side of orange juice. I love getting the whole package. A little goodness of everything. What's great is that they have a 2/4/6/8(dollars) menu for people of all appetites. Whether you want just some French toast, or you want a bit of all the breakfast foods, they've got it. Our server was also extremely nice and sweet, especially for having to work all night long, hence the 4 stars. Came here around 9 PM with a big group of 20. The restaurant was about 60% filled. I don't know if they were understaffed that day, but device seemed slow. It took the waiters 20 min to get drinks and an additional 20 min to order the food. Food came out pretty slow too. Our order took an half an hour and the servers weren't particularly apologetic. I'll bump them to 1.5 stars since the food was at least warm. I got the waffle slam, which comes with two eggs, and bacon ($10.75). Standard Dennys food, but I'm pretty sure I ate in like 10 min since I was starving after the corn maze~ I'm not sure if I'll return to this Dennys cuz if the service. read more

Came here at around 1 or 2 in the morning on a school night. I'm currently living in Davis, and this is one of the nearest Denny's besides the one located in Woodland. Our waitress was very accommodating, not to mention very funny! My roommates and I ordered a variety of items, everything from breakfast food to burgers and even dessert. The cheeseburger I ordered tasted great along with the seasoned fries. The dessert, not so much. The molten chocolate lava cake was a little too sweet and I felt like it could have used a little more time in the oven. I thought that the ice cream came with the price on the menu but apparently adding a tiny scoop of ice cream to the cost a $1. Not worth it. Best Dennys I've been to waiter was really straight forward no dilly dally and no attempt to make conversation. My food came out in a reasonable time and waiter was quick in getting extra sauces. Maybe people put the bad reviews here because tbh it's a shitty city there's a post that says don't leave your purse in the car in the the entrance. I think the people that give this place bad reviews are probably people that complain about there food thinking they can treat waiters bad and come back and expect to get great service read more
