I went in to get a sandwich and the employee was sweeping the front area. She was polite and told me she would be with me in a second. She finished up and put the cleaning items away. I then watched her walk to the sink quickly run her hands under water, no soap and dry her hands. I waited to see if she was going to use soap and actually wash her hands but no she did not. She walked over to prepare my sandwich when I asked if she was going to wash her hands. She asked what sandwich I wanted. You cleaned the floor and didn't wash your hands. Gross! Oil with a side of sandwich. First time here and it was disgusting. I got a pastrami melt and it felt like I was eating straight oil with pastrami. Also horrible service. Came in to worker calling on her phone, she was sitting at a table and did not help me until I came up to her. When paying the credit card machine wasn't working and she just assumed it was my card, it was not. I have always (since I was in grade school) loved Togos' #9; it's just a classic! I ordered it tonight and was not disappointed by the yumminess of the sandwich. At the same time, the on-line ordering menu was less than helpful when I wanted to ask for some additional peppercinis on the side. There is no place at all for any text message within the menu! The only empty text space is the delivery instructions area. I have no idea who designed the web site, but my only thought is that Togo's wants to make the on-line ordering process limiting so that people will come into the store instead (?). Anyway, I still love the #9 and always will, but I really could have used more peppercinis in my sandwich tonight. read more

Total incompetence. I usually stop by here on my way to work. Today they had two staff one a trainee who was training last week when I went. The lady can't seem to assemble a salad or turkey sandwiches. The lady in front of me was growing increasingly irritated while this gal couldn't seem to comprehend a sandwich when the instructions are in front of her. The gentleman waited on me. He was not wearing a mask (the lady was). He had on gloves but kept having to go to the refrigerator opening it with his gloves and going back to handling food. He had to stop and ring up the irritated lady before me. Still wearing the gloves he was whilst making my food taking her card, then handling cash. When he came back to finish my food I asked him to change his gloves after touching surfaces and money he said he had intended to. He was trying to be chatty he was very slow meanwhile I'm looking at my watch I told him to please finish otherwise I'm going to be late for work. The two workers spoke English to the customers but were speaking to each other in a foreign language. Perhaps my last review was a little chilly, but it is brutal honesty. There is still nothing horribly special about this Togo's, but that is also not saying that it isn't satisfying. Because it is. Today I ordered the "Boom boom pastrami" sandwich. The "Boom boom" part means a spicy sauce. It was tasty enough, but not really what I'd qualify "spicy" to be. This has nothing to do with Togo's as a business, but a flood of high school kids came in, luckily after I'd ordered and was seated and eating. I have tried this location three times and all three times this place gave us terrible food. I just bought this chicken sandwich and got home and see this brown and slimy lettuce. The five sandwiches we ordered have wilted lettuce as well. You cannot see how they are making the food or the ingredients they are making it with so you don't have the opportunity to see what they're putting on your sandwiches there's a barrier in front of you. I just realized this today. I asked for no mustard on all of the sandwiches I ordered and every one of them is slathered in mustard. We have been going to the Davis location for four or five years now. Within the last year they have changed owners or management and we've seen the regular staff that we enjoyed so much and that always did such a great job disappear and the new workers/owner/management has gradually diminished each and every time we are there. The final straw was today when I ordered sandwiches online and received a call a few minutes later saying they were out of pastrami. The most popular Togo's sandwich on the menu and they ran out of pastrami. I realize that COVID-19 could possibly play into this however this has been happening prior to COVID19. So I try to order egg salad they were out. Then I tried to order turkey and they were all out. Friday at 6:00 PM they are out of pastrami egg salad and turkey. Not acceptable. They have their most popular sandwiches on the board, but don't be fooled there's a ton of more options on their menu. My favorite is the pastrami (one of their top sellers) and the turkey avocado. If you're here for lunch, I recommend the lunch deal, it's a mini sandwich of your choice and a soup or salad. The sandwich size is perfect and with the southwest chicken salad. I am such a sandwich person and sometimes Togo's just hits the spot. I love to load up on veggies and getting any sandwich "Togo's style" allows me to do just that. Can be a little pricey but the daily special cuts down on the price and that helps a lot. I'll definitely keep coming back here when I'm in the mood for a big, cold sandwich (in my experience, I like their cold sandwiches rather than their toasted ones). I used to love this location. In the last year or so it's changed management/ ownership and the service has really gone downhill. I keep giving this place a chance because Togo's has always been so good. I went in today and the young girl helping me out was not only not very polite, but seemed really irritated with me. She called over the guy working with her and started telling him something in a different language. He excused her and said she was new, which made me think she said something about me. I ordered the soup and mini sandwich combo (which totalled over $7) with a chicken salad sandwich. It took them a while to complete my order which I found surprising because all they needed to do was microwave some soup and put some stuff on a sandwich. Upon receiving the sandwich, I was saddened to find an extremely scarce amount of chicken salad on the sandwich. The bread to sandwich content ratio was ridiculously bad. The soup appeared to be Velveeta with some vegetables put in. As for the aesthetic: if you are going to put up Halloween decorations up, go all out or don't do anything at all. One ghost and several skeletons doesn't make for a spooky atmosphere. And please splurge for Spotify premium. I hear enough ads everywhere else. read more

I remember liking their pastrami sandwich and decided to go for it. I haven't had this sandwich in years but it wasn't as good as i expected it to me. The avocado wasn't freshly sliced like Beach Hut, it was pre sliced and meshed with lemon juice incorporated. They have different daily lunch specials. $5 for a particular 6" sandwich and drink. Sunday is the Turkey Avocado. Which I feel you get a better deal at subway with the $5 foot long. As far as sandwich joints go, Togo's is top-tier. The quality of sandwiches here cannot be questioned. Although Togo's used to be more on the expensive side, they have recently introduced more wallet-friendly items, specifically the $3 Sammie, $4 Sandwich of the day, and $5 Deal of the Day. Although the Sandwich/Deal of the Day is not a "footlong" (but a regular 6"), it is definitely Quality over Quantity. My two favorites here are the Pastrami and the Turkey & Avocado. read more

As far as franchise deli's go, Togo's is second only to Jimmy Johns (at least from my experience...I have so many more delis to choose from though). This review is for all Togo's restaurants in general, I just chose this one because I've been to it more than any other in recent years. I have been coming to Togo's Eatery (and any other name they go by) since around 1985 or 1986 in Santa Cruz. Then through the early nineties in Chico...from there, everywhere else! I started out getting the ham and turkey...pretty unoriginal. Then in the middle nineties, I started experiencing different sammiches. I can honestly say, I've tried pretty much every sammich that Togo's has had over the years. I may have missed a few that have come and gone, but not many. Everyone who knows me well enough, knows that I love all kinds of sammiches, but my absolute favorite is the Reuben sammich. I'm a die-hard. I love many different versions, but the best is the original pastrami, swiss, sauerkraut, and russian dressing on rye bread. Soooooo good! But I'll take or try many different variants...whatever style you're making. As long as it can fall under the Reuben category (I've never tried the California Reuben with turkey meat as a sub, or the vegetarian version). To me, the more "New York-ier" the better! I love marbled rye, meat shaved and piled super high, cheese slightly melted, and the dressing running all over the place. Please don't skimp, I wanna taste it all...and Togo's doesn't skimp (as far as chain restaurants go). The only real downside to Togo's version is the bread that they serve. It's not rye. But I digress (whew)...another of my favorites with them is just a simple cheese sammich. I like having as many different cheeses as I can get on it...nice and thick...with some mayo...and that's it! Togo's is a chain sandwich shop that seems to be dying because I see Togo's that are closing in every city I pass. Known for sandwiches that a little closer to homemade than subway or Quizno's the sandwiches are big and the meat and toppings are plentiful. I gave Togo's in Davis three stars because every time I went there the staff always seemed angry that they had to make a sandwich for me. Typical Togo's, but when you work at a place where the ingredients are in front of you, you shouldn't mess up on an order. What sucks is the staff themselves seem very nice and genuine, but perhaps need proper training (or more focus). Last time I went, I specifically said no mayonnaise, as I detest the crap. (All mayo, not just Togo's) I get home, and there is a buttload of it, even though the sandwich maker repeated to me my "No mayonnaise" request. Today, I joked about getting something I never get, a bigass meaty sandwich loaded with three meats. He even encouraged me to go for broke and get the 9 inch. Fine, why not? Well, I get home, and he forgot one whole meat, so there were only two. So, not only is there a taste missing, but I paid a lot of money considering it is a "fast food" sandwich establishment. I used to not really enjoy TOGO's but then my dad gave me a giftcard. This location is pretty good and they always give you a free drink if you sign into Yelp which is such a plus+! The first time I came by, I ordered the turkey bacon sandwich and it was pretty tasty in the tummy for 540 calories which I thought was not bad at all (especially for a bacon sandwich). My second visit, I ordered the pastrami and omg that was just amazing. It made me crave more and I usually never have cravings for a chain sandwich shop. There is so much flavor and it just hits the spot every time. It's so warm and tastyyy. I always enjoy my food from here and the people are really friendly! read more
