We were heading out to Julian and decided to stop at this Denny's for breakfast. We were extremely happy with both the quality of the food and the service. The eggs were cooked as we ordered and not greasy like you find at some restaurants. The bacon was very lean and crispy as ordered. The pancakes were light and generous. Sandy at the Navajo Denny's is the best waitress in America, she's worked there about 20 years and rocks the place!!!

My mother, her boyfriend, and I were going out for her birthday. At first the waitress was really nice and said that because it was her birthday, I can get her meal for free. So I thought okay this is cool. Then when my folks come in and got seated, her boyfriend was racially profiled and our table was ignored for the most part. This waitress was very friendly with a party of 8 two tables down from us and they were all of the same color as her! Then one of her coworkers was about to clock into work for her shift and then she was asked to wait our table because she refused to serve "that black man." We finally got our food literally 10 minutes later. As soon as we got in the car and headed home. The boyfriend got food poisoning and started vomiting and aching all over. If you have a person that you love that's of a different color, just don't have this waitress serve you or don't even go to that location if you don't want to be discriminated and attacked. read more

Normally we don't go to Denny's since I try to avoid chain restaurants but alas while visiting in San Carlos our favorite restaurant was closed for renovations and we had to go someplace close. As always, the portions are huge and although they have a senior menu, its very small so ended up ordering and leaving a good part of my breakfast. Had a omelette with lots of stuff inside. Eggs were a bit overcooked and the hash browns slightly overdone but for Denny's it was ok and at least we weren't hungry when we left. The server was very nice, took our order right away and the food came out quickly but could have been a bit warmer like it was sitting under the lamps for longer than it should have. read more

They just cannot follow instructions. I like going to Denny's, and this location is the closest to where I live. Everytime I've ordered there, they just can't seem to get orders correct. Twice I've dined in and received the wrong order. This morning I called and ordered to pick up a breakfast and specifically asked for well done bacon. When I picked it up, I asked to make sure and they said yes it's well done. I bring the food to a friend who is ill and need foods to be cooked thorough and the bacon was soft, clear, and pink. read more

This location has always been our favorite. The staff, service and food quality. We just did our first take out order during the quarantine and they did not disappoint. Called and ordered because they were having a problem with ordering online. No problem calling though. Food was all packaged and ready in 10 minutes. Easy and quick pickup. our family of four wanted to have a nice meal together before we drop our daughters off at school but unfortunately that didn't happen. Five stars for the service. Our waitress was great. But unfortunately our food was horrible. I couldn't even eat my food. My ice coffee has way to sweet my husband t bone steak was over cooked and over seasoned . My daughter ordered an Oreo milk shake a tasted horrible. And the icing on the cake was the $48.00 for horrible food. I'm hoping we learned our lesson and we will never be back to any Dennys chain. What happened to this place? As soon as my little family of 4 walked in, a hostess/waitress, (don't know, as she never greeted us) looked at us and said, 4 dinning in? We replied, Yes please. She instructed us to take a couple if steps forward so we could be seated. So we did. Then she looks at us and says, A couple more steps forward. We comply. After deducing that she was trying to tell us to go into the back dinning area, (why didn't she just say that in the first place) we proceeded further. My son spots a stuffed animal in the crane machine up front. So as my daughter and I wait for someone to seat us, my son and husband walk back to the front to play on the crane game. The lady waves her hand at them, sternly saying, No! You go back into the dinning area! We should have walked out at that moment. But being hungry, we stayed. We had to ask for my daughters shake 3 more times after she had order it. We had to ask for silverware and our food took 25 minutes to get to us (it was pancakes and eggs). It wasn't busy at all. So what was the deal? This place used to have great service. Should have known it was gonna be bad when Attila The Hun wouldn't allow my husband to spend his money trying to win a toy for our son. read more

Last time my order was all bad and I thought because it was a party of 8. But this time only 2. And our order was so wrong and cold I will never eat there ever again. Manager did not allow us to use our coupon. I asked our waiter and he said yes then when I pay they said no. I don't want to be a Yelper who only writes reviews when I experience poor service. I don't usually write reviews for chain restaurants, but this one exceeded my expectations immensely. I went here on a Sunday morning. They had lots of outdoor seating. All the staff were super attentive, and had their service down to a science. They saw me and immediately pointed us to a table. There was no time wasted. They brought waters in spill proof cups for the kids, crayons, and menus. They took our order and the waiter even offered to split our food in 3 ways since there were 3 of us and I ordered 2 full sized meals. The food arrived, divided with precision, but not skimping on portions, beverages, and sauces all at once. I received the bill, which he asked me to pay indoors. All the people who work there work hard and they do their job well. I truly applaud the way this Denny's is run. It was busy, but they could handle all of the work. I saw coffee cups being refilled constantly too. My kids and I loved it here so much. Thank you for an accommodating hospitable environment. I think you all have the chronology wrong on this one. It wasn't coined Punk Rock Denny's because someone carved "punk fucking rock" into the building, or because of that DK logo carved into the pillar there (I remember that night). Those were things that happened because of what it already was. Most nights it was 15-20 kinds hanging out in the parking lot, occasionally going inside for meals that pretty much consisted of coffee and hash browns or whatever was cheap and could get a table without it being loitering. People would start showing up after going to see bands play or after playing in bands themselves. I'm thinking this was around 1994-1995, and there was a lot going on musically. Nobody was old enough to hang out in a bar and I remember playing bars and then driving there after because I couldn't stay and watch the rest of the show. The group rotated over time, with people coming and going as they grew out of it, moved, or somehow alienated themselves from the rest. Inside jokes persist today (Pirate Pete comes to mind) and when I see someone from that era, there's almost always a conversation that goes back to that parking lot. The place was consistent enough that when you wanted to find someone (and I think we only had pagers back then?) you could find them in that parking lot. The wait staff was incredible, the food was always edible enough to not complain about, and the manager was a little alcoholic man who looked something like if Hitler bred with an otter and he didn't like us much, but he never seemed to get rid of us. I'm not sure when it got the name "Punk Rock Denny's" and the best part was that it wasn't very punk rock at all. That was probably part of the joke. I was in that parking lot the night I turned 21 and I bought beer for my underage friends. That's about when I stopped going there, but it was a good couple of years. I still have a ton of pictures, and I know there's one of me "passed out" on a cop car out there somewhere. A couple of my friends even wrote a terrible song about that place while in the parking lot one night, standing next to Justin's big blue molester van. Just think the Ramones with less interesting lyrics. I signed up on Yelp just to tell you all this because it somehow came up in a google search. Good times. read more

When talking about a place like Denny's, I feel like the weight of the review and the experience should be placed heavier on the customer service rather than for the food itself. I mean for the most part, we all know how Denny's food tastes - sometimes the meal you have chosen comes out great, sometimes it comes out disgusting - this is expected, at least from my experience and from what I have heard of. Thus, this review has nothing to do with the food, but solely the customer service. When I came here and I think I've been here twice total, but I remember the last that I was there more clearly than the other time. During this occasion, the waiter that we had was the manager of the restaurant, and he was just great. Very attentive, very caring, and did a very good job. We came during a very busy hour and the place was packed - which might be an explanation for why the manager was also playing the role of a waiter. Nevertheless, he rushed around and got around to all of the tables that he was taking care of in an appropriate amount of time. Whenever we asked for something, he turned on his heel and basically ran to go get what we asked. He was very fast, and very caring of all the customers. And that made for a good experience here, despite the food. read more

oh the days of punk rock denny's. it was on a nightly basis i would be here. mostly sit outside, on the newspaper machines. i was newspaper girl to many who didn't know my actual name. i have over 1000 pictures of me and my friends hanging out here. the name came from someone carving 'PUNK F***ING ROCK" in the column out side. it was clearly visible before the remodel, where they took away the smoking and non smoking glass wall, swapped the bathrooms and made everything teal and pink. now it is slightly plastered over, and painted many times, so you can see barely any of it. if you want to look for it, the side of the column facing the street, about 5-6 feet up. elisa, sandy and monica. they are wonderful. best servers you will ever have. sandy is straight up. she punched a guy in the throat for making unwelcome comments towards her. elisa asks you about your life, school, work, family. monica is just one of the most awesome people you will ever meet. she had a kid, so she was gone for a while, and when i stopped hanging out there, she wasn't back yet. when i went back a while later, she was there and it was great to see her again. the food is denny's food. if you don't know about it, then i don't know what to say. this place is great because who else would let us stay somewhere for hours, rarely buying anything but soda? we'd leave everything in there to take a smoke break and come back and our table was still ours. some highlights of my denny's life... - deciding it'd be great to smoke while we eat, so we drove to yuma in the middle of the night to eat at a denny's in which you could smoke in. - after they stopped making malts, my friend bought malt powder, they kept it there for him and made him chocolate malts. - getting hopped up on pixie sticks and running to savon - step into my office... - mike's sad sad car and the number of times we messed with it. the maxie pad cross was really genius - touching jordans there are so many things i want to mention. but it'd no longer a review of a place, but memories of how things used to be... read more

i've had poor service experiences at plenty of denny's. this location, however, changes that pace. i like the staff here. they're quick, they're attentive, they even talk to the regulars about their kids and wives' surgery and such. not only is it a gem in my book because it's =this close= to my condo, but because they've never gotten my order wrong here, which is pretty usual at other denny's locations. my all time fave dish at denny's is the t-bone steak and eggs. medium well and over-medium with wheat toast and a side of hash browns. hell to the yes. for a denny's steak, it's juicy and tender even without A1. and whoever's cooking my eggs is paying close attention cause they came out perfect! all the whites cooked, but the yolk still easy. i've never had a problem with their hash browns either. in fact, regardless of any denny's i go to, they have some pretty damn good hash browns. cooked to a crisp on the outside just like i like it. i'm sure i'll be returning to this denny's. read more

Four of us stopped in just before midnight after helping a friend move. You can't beat Denny's if your looking for a good meal at midnight. Very polite professional hostess greeted us and showed us to our table. Ashley our server was a five star, she was on top of everything making sure we had not only a great meal but a good environment in which to enjoy it in. Having a nicely prepared and delicious meal along with five star service at midnight says a lot about Denny's and their employees, great job and thank you to the hard working staff at Denny's! I got the moons over my hammy with some pancakes and it was so great! I also had the hobbit slam a few days ago its just a build your own slam. The pumpkin pancakes hit the spot. So, basically I just came from a Denny's and I had a horrible experience. It's at midnight yea, okay so the minute I walked in, they were out of a lot of things, supposedly blender was broken but they gave the other customers what they denied us. I am a Muslim and there are about 8 of us yes, I told her to take out any pork and whatnot when we were ordering, and then she brings the food, and it tastes like pork. When I complained, she said that all of our orders had pig fat and what not, after we ate our meal. It was really disrespectful and that just canceled Denny's in general for most of the Muslim community. read more
