Came here for the first time today (Johnston location, I've been to other Denny's obviously) because of the Beetlejuice afterlife menu. I'm a huge BJ fan so I was super excited for the food and the cool paper it "came with" Placed my order online and had good first impressions when I went in. April was the biggest sweetheart and my food was done in decent time. Everything went down hill when I got home after(20 minute drive) to unbox everything and was given the wrong order. Wrong as in it was someone else's. I called to get a refund, basically got the run around that they couldn't do it and I had to contact corporate which made no sense. Then I was told to bring back the food I was given and they would remake my order. This was strange to me but we were hungry and like f* it Get back there and the "manager" who really wasn't the manager was hardly apologetic and was making me feel like I was the one who caused the issue! Y'all gave me the wrong bag! Long story short the order was remade and was done wrong. No Beetlejuice paper, no sauce on the beetlejuicy burger..it was also missing tomato and onion that came standard on it. My Afterlife melt was missing a few mozzarella sticks and the marinara sauce. Such a shame how wrong it all went. The actual manager called me later and issued me a full refund but at the end of the day I just wanted it to have been correct the first time and I would have been a return customer. read more

Love coming here! No matter the time/day, the staff is always wicked nice. The food is good and it's always clean.

It's 6:03am. We arrived here at 5:20am. In the 43 minutes that we have been here it took the staff 20 minutes to get a cup of coffee, a drink, and a couple of waters to our table. The two of us ordered a special... still waiting for it at 6:06am. We came here because no local breakfast establishments were open. Coffee is still empty. Short staffed. This was one of the best experiences we've ever had any Denny's! The server and cook, which was also the manager we're was amazing. Our food came out hot and fresh in a reasonable amount of time. We were seated right away server was very friendly, even though it was like late in the evening. It was not very busy there, which was nice. I got the chicken bacon ranch melt and it was superb. The cheese was melted just perfectly the sandwich was nice and hot and fresh. The other half also had no complaints. Thought it was good. We also got the double chocolate pancake bites, which was something new, but it has like melted fudge chips inside that was also hot and frosting is the right temperature. Jade and I haven't been to this Denny's in over a year and the moment we walked in April saw us she recognized us and called us both by name! She stayed a little late just so she could be our waitress AND she remembered exactly what we ordered last times we were here!! If that's not an A++ waitress then I don't know what is?!? Seriously, we all know what Dennys is and what the food is and its good, but those little personal touches mean SO much to people that I wish more places & servers would take a que from April and the Dennys staff! For some reason my mom loves Denny's but my numerous experiences with this location I am not, anymore. This location is convenient for me in location so I figured I'd try it a couple times and see if my mind changed but it did not. Every time I have come here there's been a huge line, you aren't greeted you're just directed to give your name like a kindergartner. Every time I have come here the person behind the register always has an attitude, every single time. It's like nobody here's enjoys their job. Even when people pick up orders they receive attitudes, and it baffles me. Once your seated you wait around for quite some time before your server comes around and even then they don't seem happy. The food is very mediocre, I never enjoyed it no matter what I ordered. I always get sick right after I eat from this place, so I stopped coming. This just is a miss for me, I'm sorry. read more

I really don't have a problem with coming to these types of establishments because they're giving me exactly what I'm paying for and my expectations are met. Service was very good. I ended up getting a grand slam which is plenty of food at a pretty affordable price. They also gave me a grapefruit juice which was quite tasty. I ended up saving some to make a vodka slush the next day. Overall if I was in the area would definitely check it out if I'm looking for a quick meal. Went here on Veterans Day for the free breakfast and it was packed. The food tasted like typical breakfast chain restaurant. The hash browns weren't good at all. Ok so we all know Denny's is a chain Restaurant. Some have a cool diner vibe, like the one on Hartford Ave in Johnston RI. Since we ate a fabulous meal for Christmas Eve, my kids and I decided to go to Denny's for Christmas Day for breakfast. The place is really pretty and once again it has that really cute Diner vibe with the counters. We were seated quickly at a booth and given our menus. The waitress was super sweet and she said that it was pretty slow but really picked up while we were there. So I ordered the American Grand Slam which was scrambled eggs, bacon sausage and home fries . Everything was awesome my daughter ordered kind of the same thing and hers was awesome as well. My son however ordered a dish that included a plate of pancakes that were called Sticky Bun pancakes. When this plate showed up on the table, I was mesmerized. This plate looked so freaking amazing. I took a bite of it and I really wanted to order a stack of those pancakes just to take home for dessert. It was absolutely delicious. That's what I really liked about the Denny's menu. They have gotten really creative with their breakfast choices as well as the lunch and dinner choices. The place was clean and pretty, the wait staff was very friendly, and I'm happy that we went there for Christmas Day. I think a lot of other people were happy to go there as well, because when we were walking out at around 2 p.m. the place was really filling up. Try that Sticky Bun pancake dish. Stopped in with a party of 3 for an afternoon breakfast. Place wasn't busy but had customers, waited to be seated only a few minutes. After being seated for 5 minutes someone finally came over to get our drink order. I attempted to order an appetizer, but the waitress walked away as I was still speaking. After the drinks came I was finally able to order the appetizer. We ordered our food which seemed to take about 15-20 mins to make and we only ordered breakfast food. The food they brought was half correct. One meal was wrong so we have to wait for that to be remade as the waitress put the wrong on in the computer. My food was half correct and I had to wait for that to come out. Some of the food was hot and some of it was cold. The whole time we were eating employees were sitting at the front counter eating and taking their breaks. So all we heard were people talking loudly and laughing it up, yet sitting across from my kid I couldn't even hear her. The staff were so accommodating, especially Dawn, she put us all at ease letting us know she was vaccinated and had COVID 3 times. What a stellar server too, she was so attentive to all her tables. I came here with my two trans friends. One was dressed up in drag, the other was not. We waited ten minutes once seated and still no service. I had to ask to be served. A party that arrived after us was served, received food and left before us. The food was missing pieces which we had to ask for. The service was awful. There was no attention paid at all. I've been to other Denny's and by far this one is the best one I've gone to when our favorites are not opened or way to crowded. I have to say it was the waitress that made a good experience. The poor woman was waiting on all the tables in the building yet the place was clean except for the woman's bathroom but honestly they are opened 24/7 the night shift should have clean it. We enjoyed the food the cook made everything as ordered. The waitress deserves a raise she was running around like crazy but she still got our order correct and didn't make us wait to long for anything. She also had to cash people out. January 1st 2024 Not a good start to the new year. Went to Denny's on Hartford Avenue in Johnston where I have gone before today was a different story. I've met the manager and I know she is a real hard worker and some of the help are also great but today was not the case, first of all the restaurant was freezing. When I told her waitress, she agreed with me and that's all she did. My wife ordered a coffee and it was so strong. It tasted awful. The breakfast we ordered had the cheese with scrambled eggs and they were cold. We sent them back only to find when we went to eat them. I guess the Cook wasn't happy because there were eggshells in them. They were disgusting. I came here because on my last visit, I had the pleasure of talking with the manager who is very professional and does everything she can to keep the customers happy. I can afford to eat anywhere, but I chose to come here, which obviously was a mistake because of this I will not be returning. no one wants to freeze while they're eating breakfast and send cold eggs back only to find when the new ones come they have eggshells in them. I don't need people playing games with my food!!!!! oh, by the way, pancakes are not supposed to be burnt on one side. read more

The best breakfast in town. Their Grand Slams are fantastic as is the priceing. My husband and I are regulars and their 9 grain pancakes are delicious as well as the strawberry and cream pancakes. You can't ask for better shredded hash browns. There is only one thing that can beat their food and it is the staff. All are super pleasant and accommodating. One stands out above all the others for her pleasant attitude but more importantly her fantastic memory. This waitress goes above and beyond to make her customers feel welcome, special and appreciated. If you decide to stop for breakfast be sure to ask for April she is the best. I've noticed many reviews assessing their lack of service and leadership. We came during a down time - so the service and attention was good. Our waitress had a friendly demeanor and was chatty....her name was Dawn. She was great. I have a couple of observations....1- the specials that they run $2 $4 $6 $8 value menus are very meager portions for smaller appetites. Even the $8 choice leaves you ordering more food. They nickel and dime you as well. 2- since it's a chain the lack of motivation behind the scenes and with management is immediately observable. It seems to lack warmth and ownership. The server who brought our food didn't ask which dish was who's - he brought it out with lackluster passion. It seemed like he wanted to be home on his couch watching Netflix. Their breakfast is good - I'd rather hit up a mom and pop stop where the eggs are piping hot and the bacon is crispy and scalding. They do have gluten free options for my wife and kids eat free on certain days. I've been here 3 times already and this'll be the 1st time leaving a review. Went in for a late meal. To begin with, the service was horrendous. There was one server along with a "manager" that disappeared even though they were busy. The restaurant was full on the one side that was open. She may have left to outside and have a smoke. Ordered a pick your own Grand Slam. A long time later- my food appeared. The eggs I ordered were literally the smallest eggs I've ever seen. Terrible. Get the bill later and see I was overcharged for my meal- pointed out to my server she acknowledged that I was and said she was going to get the "manager" to adjust. The manager rang me up the same amount that was on the check. It was late and I had a long day and didn't want to argue. Complete cluster and I hope someone at Dennys sees this.
