Our experiences with Dennys in LaVale MD has always been great. We go there a couple times a week. They treat us great like family. They are friendly & have good service there. The waitresses & waiters do a great job! Brooke, Emily & Monica usually wait on us . They are very efficient & wonderful job. Terri, Janna, Vickie,Derek & Wayne are very good too. I'm not going to slam them for bad food. Actually, the food was pretty tasty. Except cheesecake was served in a hot dish. Anyway, the entire time I was there, there was a group of about 4-5 employees talking about other employees right behind my booth where the servers put in their orders. The radio in the kitchen drowned out the music in the dining room. It was absolutely ridiculous. I couldn't coherently hear a damn thing. We were traveling from Ohio to Virginia and stopped in to have lunch at this Denny's. I generally only stop at fast food restaurants during my travels, but I had my mom, aunt and grandmother with me and they all requested a dine in establishment. Their first words when I suggested Denny's was, "Yes! You can always count on Denny's for good food and consistency". That pretty much sums up Denny's. This particular Denny's did not disappoint. Since we'd been on the road for several hours, we first stopped at their restrooms. There are only 2 stalls, so it was a short wait. The restroom was cramped, but clean. We requested seating in their sun room, which they obliged. I don't have a big appetite, so I just ordered an unsweetened iced tea and a cup of their chicken noodle soup, which was more than enough for me. I think I ate for around $5! You just don't see that in sit down restaurants anymore. Sure, you can spend a lot at Denny's, but they also have affordable options for those with a small appetite. Denny's does offer a kids menu and a senior menu for over 55 as well. My mom also ordered a cup of their chicken noodle soup, but also went for a side salad with Ranch and a Coke. My grandmother and aunt both ordered one of their new skillet meals...one got the South by Southwest Skillet and the other ordered the Rio Ranchero Skillet. They both completely finished their meals quite satisfied and happy with their purchases. In fact, we all left feeling good with our choices. Smiles all around! Our service was average; not over the top, but we weren't left feeling like we'd had bad service. All in all, it was good stop and I definitely recommend. read more

Traditionally I would usually put a Denny's at a 3star but going here for a better part of a decade- I can speak to this as a higher end Denny's due to the customer service. Recently they have remodeled and updated things but this Denny's I have been going to since I was little with my parents, drunk on weekends for a late night meal, and more recently- manager meetings while In the area. Over those years - the service has been very good. In the latter years (high school/college/present) the waitress Karen has been the gold standard for customer service. With going here recently she even helps with refills on tables she isn't waiting on. Of course- anything out of the realm of diner food is hit and miss (shocker), but with burgers, breakfast, and sandwiches this place is great. I usually go with the breakfast slams and pancakes etc, but the Superbird, Moons over my hammy, and even salads have been good. I appreciate vanilla syrup added to Diet Coke when I opt for it (NOT WITH BREAKFAST EVER), and how the coffee gets refilled Asap. Will continue to come back when in the area. read more

When we received our food, all our hash browns were burnt. They practically gave us the last of the hash browns that they had set aside which were burnt and did not taste good. The only thing preventing me from giving a 1 star review is our waiter. Our waiter and the service was very nice but unfortunately, I cannot say the same to the food. read more

I along with my family have been coming to this location on Columbia street in Cumberland for over 40 years. We used to drive an hour just to have a cheese steak sub and drive back. The quality of the food has changed over the years but it always ranked #1 with us no matter where we lived. The last few times the food and service hasnt been up to par. Today was sadly my final visit. Their famous cheese steak was just intolerable. I threw more than half of it in the trash. The texture of the meat was soft, more like veal. The meat was grey in color, flavorless, unseasoned, and to top it off, cold. Could not have been more disappointed. Truly sad to see this company go down this way. They are moving to a new location in downtown cumberland. Goodluck making the revenue to cover your expenses with food this bad. I hope you find a way to get back to what you once were. read more

Everything was okay when we were seated, it wasn't too busy. After our food was taken our food took a long time , when we got our food it wasnt hot. I got the spicy sizzling dish with the chicken breast. My food wasn't sizzling , it wasn't hot . My mother in law got the Santa fey, it also wasn't sizzling. It worked for me at 6:30 AM on a Saturday. The service was quick, I ordered without looking at the menu and it turned out to be a special $4 breakfast, and it was piping hot. They offered me a to go coffee as my refill on the house. This is how brand loyalty is built. This location could use renovation particularly the restrooms. read more

We woke up craving just a normal traditional American breakfast so we turned to Denny's on Sunday morning. We arrived around 9:30 and not surprisingly, there was a long list of people waiting for a table. We were told the wait was no longer than 15 minutes but it was easily closer to 25 minutes. Not a big deal as they cannot exactly predict those things. Everything felt dirty. The floors, the front lobby waiting area, the vending machine and music machine. We tried to overlook that as there were so many people there. Upon being seated, a waiter greeted us and we asked for water. We are not coffee drinkers so we stuck with just water as a beverage. My husband ordered the grand slam, I ordered crepe ala cart. By the time our order came, we were both out of water. Our waiter practically threw our food down and walked away before we could ask for more water or even silverware. My husband got up to go ask for more water and get silverware. The food was okay. Hashbrowns were a bit burned on the outside and more raw on the inside. Everything else was just fine. It is no wonder we only really like Denny's after a night of drinking! I think this place has good food and a nice & attentive staff. One staff member is normally almost always near the front by the register when you come in and greets you and sees how many people need seating if you have more than 1 person in your party. If there isn't a staff member there, there will be one who will notice you come in and will quickly come to you and get you seated, I like this attentiveness and care already. The food is typical chain diner food, but the atmosphere of the area being in the mountains and the staff's attentiveness, courtesy and appreciation of your patronage to the business enhances the overall experience here. Me and the guest I was there with were seated within literally I think it was 1 minute of walking in the front door and our waitress, Kelley, came over to us to ask about what we wanted to drink. We ordered our drinks and she came back within a couple minutes with them and we were looking over the menu to see what to order and she let us take our time to see what we wanted to order. So we ordered the food and within 10-15 minutes, our food was out and at our table, was hot and tasted great. I got the America's Diner Double, the seasoned fries and a sprite; I thought the burger would not look like the picture on the menu, but I was wrong- the burger was big like the picture, it was also juicy and had an overall good flavor, the fries had a nice amount of flavor from the seasoning on them and the sprite had a good syrup to water & carbonation ratio. My guest got one of the Grand Slam and decaf coffee and enjoyed the breakfast and the coffee, the coffee was fresh too. I also got a strawberry milkshake as a desert and it was pretty good and thick with a nice, rich flavor. I looked at the other milkshake options a little after I got my milkshake and I saw one of them was peanut butter banana and I wondered if the banana in that milkshake was a separate option to get and could be added to any other milkshake, so I asked Kelley and she said they could, with an upcharge, which was fine, so next time I'll try that. In closing: The staff is quick to their guests needs, friendly and appreciating the guests' patronage. The food tastes good, the area and the staff in general enhance the experience being here and I feel like I'm not in a chain restaurant because of the good, more personable service here. I was very hesitant to go to Denny's to dine. I haven't eaten in a Denny's in at least 15 years due to the horrible customer service me and my family have experienced over the years. KEEP READING. We were in town for a baseball tournament and the team came here for a bite to eat in between games. This Denny's in LaVale, MD gave us such wonderful customer service. We were all greeted and seated together and our waiter was top notch! I wish I remembered his name. What stood out for us was that we saw him go outside and help an elderly woman with a walker inside the restaurant. You just don't see kindness and customer service to that extent these days. The food came out quickly and it was delicious! Everybody was so friendly and kind to us. Hats off to this particular Denny's. Based upon the experience we had I'd recommend this restaurant to anyone who's traveling in the area. read more

We totally understand there is a shortage of staff at all the eating establishments due to the pandemic, certainly took that onto consideration when going to Dennys today. We had a party of 6, seated in the garden room since there were no tables available to seat us , we sat at two tables...not a problem. The was one other couple in the area. Our waitress even recognized us , my husband and I went on Sunday the 4th for breakfast, service slow, food good.... understand.. Today, however, our orders were taken and we seat there for 1 hour ...still NO FOOD. Meanwhile , the area had filled with customers and they arrived after us AND GOT THEIR MEALS...... hmmmmmmmm needless to say, with 2 younger children we left money for drinks and left. This place sucks ass had a argument within the first second we walked in and somone fell with a bunch of food while waiting on somebody

first off we got there and standed there for a good 10 minutes before we got seated then we finally got seated and waited another 10 minutes just for our drinks. The man then took our order and we both got the sirloin steak meals. i ordered mine rare with red skin potatoes with out gravy and onion rings. She ordered the same but wanted her steak well done with red skinned potatoes and corn. They come back with our food and at first glance I did not get my onion rings I got cut up potatoes and they put gravy on my potatoes. She didnt get her mashed potatoes they gave her the same cut up potatoes. I then told them I did not get what I ordered so they brought my plate back to me still no onion rings and the guy looks at me and goes "are you happy now?" My food was extremely cold and she got rare steak when she asked for well done. This is by far the worst experience I have had with a restaurant. Please don't come here. Horrible table manners and extremely bad service. read more

Well quite honestly I was very pleasantly surprised! I am never one to suggest That we go to Denny's for breakfast, but I guess yesterday I was up for the dare. At some point they remodeled the store. I cannot tell you when exactly because I honestly maybe go there one time a year. However, this new look, was very inviting and made me think hey if everything goes well I think I might want to come back here. And guess what. Everything went very well. From the time we were greeted at the door to being seated to having a drink order taken and to finally meeting our waitress who took our breakfast order, each member of the staff was on point! My husband and I both ordered omelettes. Mine was made to order with egg whites. The food came out in such a timely manner, I was blown away. Our breakfast was delicious and honestly I will probably recommend to my husband that we go there again next Sunday. read more

This Denny's is ok. You have to keep in mind that it is Denny's and not a 4-Star Restaurant and you get what you pay for. Before the remodel I took all of my nieces there for breakfast and somewhere in the middle of eating a roach fell out of the ceiling onto our table...which of course makes kids scream. Manager says we can just leave without paying for anything and says they just can't seem to get a handle on the roach problem and that the exterminator was there the day before and probably stirred them up. Did I mention the broken electrical outlets in the walls completely exposed? Fast forward to the current post-remodel.....Nice decor. Same food....ok for a small town I guess. The reason that we will never go back again is that around 8 or 9 pm a guy drags a huge bucket of mop water out from the back and sits it near our table and starts mopping all around us. The floor was not in the least dirty but the mop water and that mop definitely were. It stunk so horribly that everyone stopped eating at every table in the area and watched...waiting for him to move it away. I summoned a waitress and asked her to get him to move the big bucket of dirty water away from us as several in our group were getting asthma symptoms from the odor. She informed us that the floor has to be mopped whether it's dirty or not but did get the young man with the mop to move it a few feet away. Subsequently the guy stood there and argued with her request and exclaimed loudly that it was ridiculous and then gave us the death stare. We could still smell the odor from a few feet away and the dirty water on the mop which he was now spreading all over what appeared to be an already clean floor. We got our food wrapped up and left. Never again. Thank goodness the inhalers were in the car. read more

Um no. I've been to many a Denny's and this one comes in last no questions asked (totally didn't intend for any of that to rhyme!) The menu after 10pm seems highly limited compared to every other Denny's I've been to. Typically, I actually don't mind Denny's food but the food here was seriously lacking and bland. I tried to explain to those I was dining with that "no really, Denny's is usually much better!" but this one did no justice in making them believe this statement. The only plus was the service. Our waitress was very attentive and checked on us about every five minutes. If only management paid that much attention to the menu and caught up with every other Denny's franchise in MD that's 100x better. read more
