This was one of our best dining experiences at this location. This restaurant is really hit-or-miss with food and service quality. I decided on The Campfire Breakfast Skillet, and was this a great choice. Packed full of meat (could have had few more peppers & onions) but tasted fabulous. The potatoes were just the right crispy outside and delectably soft on the inside. At most places this style potato is rock hard or tough on the inside. The eggs were cooked perfectly as well. After hours of being behind the wheel, fighting off road trip exhaustion and questionable gas station snacks, (Sheets Mac and cheese bites were not it) I decided to finally experience the legendary Cracker Barrel breakfast. I pulled in, hoping for comfort food. First impressions? Solid. The place was clean, warm, and had that "your grandma's living room meets country gift shop" vibe. I was greeted right away and seated no wait, no fuss. Enter Kiersten, my server. She was quick with the coffee, cool with my questions, and clearly knew the menu better than I know my own blood type. Props to her. I went with the build-your-own breakfast. The hash brown casserole? Comfort in every bite. The sausage? Spiced just right. And then... there was the ham. Listen, I respect a bold flavor, but this ham came in swinging like it had something to prove. Salty doesn't even cover it. If I'm being honest it was like licking a hand full of Morton salt. Meanwhile, the biscuits crumbled like my will to finish them, and the gravy bless its heart was more of a warm suggestion than a flavorful statement. Stopped by this place when driving back from Pennsylvania. Standard Cracker Barrel set up (tables, decorations, front gift shop). We were seated immediately and ordered. Sadly we waited for over 25 minutes for our order to come out. Wait staff informed us the cook staff had a few people call in sick. We finally received our order. The batter fried pickles were okay. Ordered the meatloaf and it was very disappointing - dry, no flavor. My family got chicken and dumplings and also another major disappointment. No chicken and dumplings were chewy and. It edible. Wait staff said we could return but by that time, we were not satisfied and paid our bill and left. I don't recommend this place if you are looking for home cooked and hearty meals. read more

The Mac and cheese we ordered (two orders) were cold. The sausage gravy and biscuits were highly under seasoned! I had to take it home and season it better. Our server hardly checked on us, but she was checking on her other tables. We had to ask for syrup after waiting 10 minutes. She wasn't a good server at all. Something has changed! The last I ate at a Cracker Barrel was 2018 or 2019. In the last several weeks, my family and I ate at this specific place in La Vale, MD. It is apparent that this Covid thing forced Cracker Barrel to cut corners. The chicken pot pie lacked the chicken. I guess it hasn't crossed the road, yet. The hashbrown they serve was not just cold but now worse than the copycat versions I've been forced to try. Let's just be frank, everything we tried was torturous to the palate. Worse yet, several of us, eating different dishes, got sick and felt miserable for a few days. I don't think it was food poisoning but just horrible food. What is worse is a family member had a different dish there a month earlier and it was lacking the main ingredients. The server was wonderful and he got his nice tip as it was well-deserved. A good server. The place is as loud as ever, so you're not going to have a quiet meal. That is what I am used to. You can't complain about what is normal. Will I be visiting this place again? Nope. In fact, I don't think I'll be eating at another again as I believe the Cracker Barrel as a whole has cheapened everything to the point of creating human misery. read more

Cracker Barrel was absolutely fantastic. I'm not that big on eating breakfast but this place is delicious and is everything you need when your hungry for breakfast lunch or dinner. It has that nice old country feeling when you sitting down relaxing and eating with your family. It's a great place. So I ended up getting the boneless fried chicken with Mac and cheese and fries. Absolutely horrible experience. Waited 13 minutes from the time I was seated until someone came by to take my drink order and the place wasn't very busy. My food arrived before my silverware. When silverware finally arrived, I was left without a knife to cut my pancakes. The pancakes were burnt on one side. Scrambled eggs were cold. The waiter paid little to no attention to my table. Recently built precinct of Cracker Barrel in the Lavale area which I personally am all for. Being from this area any new business should be applauded- period. However, just because you're a new big name restaurant doesn't mean you don't have to work to get people's positive feedback rather than just skate by on name alone. So- what is wrong here? For one the service really has been Luke warm the times I have been in. One trip yielded a 12minute lag between drink order and drink on table - guess it was smoke break time, and another breakfast trip was as tough as the sausage we were served - that took forever, and oh- was cold inside probably from sitting. It's a homestyle food place which isn't my favorite, but aside from the food if you can't provide proper service and the food is so-so, it's worthy of an average rating. read more

Depending on the location, some Cracker Barrel's have better service than others. The Cumberland Cracker Barrel has average service, and does not serve alcohol. But the Winchester Cracker Barrel has exceptional service and also has a nice selection of adult beverages. read more

Overall great place to stop and have some good comfort food, place is clean and the ambiance is calm at least when I visited the location. Good customer service, waitress was nice and attentive until the end when she got side tracked but beside that she was great. My son and I ate at the Cracker Barrel in LaVale, MD after the WVU game on our way home. We have eaten here before and the food was consistent as it is with most Cracker Barrels. Id say the food is mostly 3/5 or 3.5/5. Its not bad for comfort food. What makes my review a 5-Star was our experience with server, Cierra. She was very engaging, accommodating, energetic, quick, and polite. She checked in on us every few minutes, made sure our drinks were filled, and provided us updates on the status of our food. Some may say these are the attributes of most servers but this was different. My son and I asked her how she is able to maintain such a positive attitude and she said we only live once and there is no need to be down. During a difficult pandemic and stressful environment, Cierra brightened our day and sent my son and I away talking about how she positively impacted our day. So I am staying at a local hotel while working in the area for 2 weeks. As any road warrior should know the hotel breakfast is ok at best. I decided to have breakfast for dinner this evening and my plan was to take it to go. Upon my arrival the plan changed. Since I am working alone and the fire place seemed cozy I decided to dine in. I was warmly greeted by a server Ann and seated. I ordered Moms Pancake breakfast with scrabbled eggs, sausage, toast and coffee. Yes this is my dinner. Knowing this was way to much food I already planned to take some for tomorrow's lunch. The food was delish, hot and pretty fast. Upon completion I was offered a to-go box for leftovers. I really enjoy eating here service cleanliness and food is always good! The only two problems I have are with the meatloaf and the dishes cups and silverware. The meatloaf is great but is always undercooked with pink pieces of raw hamburger kind of ruins it for me. As for the dishes cups and silverware you need to do a much better job cleaning these things! It wasn't like this when it first opened I can rub residue off of the silverware with my finger and smell the dirty plate it's disgusting please do a better job! read more

Had a great experience at this Cracker Barrel. I was on my way back home from Deep Creek and this Cracker Barrel was on the way, so my friends and I decided to stop by. We went today (Sunday) around 12pm and it was pretty busy when we arrived. When we walked in we were immediately greeted by a young lady in the front. I told her we were a party of 7 and she said the wait would be around 25 minutes. Given how busy they were and how many people were in my party, I don't feel 25 minutes was bad at all. Our waitress was really friendly and attentive. She made sure all of our glasses were filled and brought out the food pretty quick. I ordered the homestyle chicken which is only available after 11am and only on Sunday. It was really really really good! The mashed potatoes on the other hand were just ok. It tasted a little plain so I did have to add some salt and pepper. The fries were a little better than the mashed potatoes but still nothing amazing about them. Other than the mashed potatoes I don't really have any complaints. If I'm ever back in that area I will definitely be stopping by! read more

I normally love Cracker Barrel the food is good and reasonable. Today the waitress was in a hurry never listen to you I'm surprised she got half of our order correct. The silverware was terrible they need a new dishwasher . We asked for new silverware and the waitress told us they are all that bad so she brought us plastic utensils. The silverware problem hasn't apparently been solved 3 weeks ago someone else complained. I do hope they solve the silverware problem and the waitress problem will probably solve itself read more

We went to Dinner last night we haven't there in a little while and now I know why. As usual the dining room is soo cold you need a jacket in July, I guess the idea is for you to eat fast and get out, but it also makes your food cold. We ordered the new item they have been advertising on the TV and it was terrible. Beef tips had so much garlic I am tasting it still the next day, chicken tenders over fried but soggy from being held too long and lastly shrimp about the only thing that was okay. My two sides first a side salad very fresh and good, but no time to eat it before they brought the main food. Second greens beans how can you have a hot plate with cold green beans. I ask for apple butter and now they charge .50 for it. It's sad because it used to be a place you could go and have a good meal at a reasonable price, but at $47.84 for two isn't reasonable especially if the food isn't hot or good. Service was about as usual just okay. I also remember when the manager would come by and ask how your food was, but not last night. Think twice before stopping by, it seems like there is more effort put into the gift shop than the restaurant. Another sign is that there wasn't a server in the restaurant that that I recognized from the last visit always a turn over I wonder why. read more
