Denny's, everyone knows it for its "Slams" and often it gets a bad rap because the service can be extremely spotty and often terrible. I've never really experienced bad service at this particular Denny's. I will say that I've had different cups of coffee in the same meal that went from great tasting to terrible, that seems to be the norm here. Denny's currently has a new build your own pancake promotion going on right now, but the options are extremely limited, which makes me slightly disappointed because I was ready to let my creativity explode, sadly that wasn't the case, unhappy with the options for the pancake promotion I decided to get a Slam instead. I ordered the Lumberjack Slam, which comes with everything offered at breakfast, ever. Wife ordered the Cheesesteak Omelet, point of note here; the beef inside the omelet has nothing to do with cheesesteaks at all and is actually a steak that best resembles roast beef. Everything turned out great and tasted okay with the exception of the coffee. We often make it to Denny's around 11am, by the time we leaving there appears to be a good amount of people waiting for tables. read more

We decided to go to Denny's which was our second choice because IHOP down the road was closed. We drove to the parking lot it was filled but the restaurant was a little empty. We was seated quickly and we look over the menu because we haven't been to Denny's in a long time. So I ordered the Grand Slam breakfast for myself with coffee and orange juice. And my husband ordered the Grand Slam but pick it yourself and a cup of tea. Our waitress Sarah was nice and repeated the order back to the office and we were satisfied with the order. Long and behold when we got our food my husband order was right my order was wrong. I don't like butter or anything so my pancakes have butter my silverware was dirty so when the waitress Sara came back over to our table we let her know and she apologized but it wasn't her fault it was the people in the back which is the kitchen. But another waiter brought our food while she was at another table. So I told him about the butter on the pancakes and he said he'll bring me another stack out. But me and my husband was talking and he brought him back so fast I said let me look at these pancakes I flipped it over and saw that all they did was scrape the butter off neatly and must have debit with a paper towel or something so I asked my husband to stick his finger in the center of the pancakes to see if the butter was on there and it was. This was so trifling no telling what they do to other people feel when they send it back and my family always tell me never to send my items back but me with my picky self I always find something wrong with something. Okay so when our waitress came back to the table I informed her what they had this and you will see you on my pictures that I had cut the pancakes so I wouldn't get it back the third time so when she went back to the window she hollered at me can I have a fresh batch of pancakes with no butter please. She apologized again before the pancakes came out and then when the pancakes came out she apologized again and again it was not her fault it was the staff in the back. They should've get it right first time. I don't know if We will ever go to back because that was on our way home from Atlantic City and we wanted to have breakfast but I guess this was our second choice. If you send something back change your mind or order something else or just ask for your money back and I usually ask for the manager but I really didn't go that far because it was just butter on a pancake but again that was nasty to send out the same order of Pancakes all they did was straight the butter off don't they know if I don't like butter I can taste it idiots in the kitchen. I am in shock as we just came in as per our normal routine. I just finished work in New York City and came , per my usual , 130 miles and hungry. The server took our order and everything was going just fine. Our server then comes up to us and notifies us that the cook has been here too many hours working and the other guy is new and unable to cook food so we were turned away and sent home without dinner. I came tonight with six other people, we were a party of 7. First off our server sat us at the wrong table so we had to move to a different table. No big deal. Once he got himself together some of us ordered milkshakes and we all ordered water (except one person) . myself and someone else got our water but the five other people waited basically the whole time we were there (after we got our food, probably about 40 minutes) to get theirs. When he attempted to take our order he forgot his note pad and took an additional ten minutes to find it. Ordering the food was fine he suggested other food(s) and informed us of *some sercharges regarding sides and replacements. When our food arrived half of it came wrong, for example, one of our party members asked for no sour cream on their nachos and there was a big fat load of it when the food was delivered, buffalo chicken tenders had no buffalo sauce on them (and then the person got charged for buffalo sauce on their check), etc. Things were just wrong. When we told our server of these things he would put the blame on someone else saying "oh? She didn't bring it?" Assuming we knew who "she" was. When we went to check out, the front desk girl was RUDE until the manager came up then she acted super nice and polite. Also, nobody told us this but they add an additional "service charge fee". The fee they miraculously added only went onto one check adding up to about $15, they neglected to mention this before hand and there was no way to split the amount for each person. In conclusion. Worst experience ever. We went to Denny's on Saturday night. The hostess sat up in a corner booth and walked away. After about 5mins and nothing, no drinks, no acknowledgment from anyone, the manager walked up to the table next to us and started talking to them. He looked at our table and walked away. We figured out what we want and still no one. After 20 minutes of sitting there and everyone walking by us, we got up and walked out. Before leaving, we stopped at the front counter were the manager and hostess were standing talking to each other. We told the manager about the fact that both him and his staff ignored us for 25 minutes. He tried to apologize for it but it was to late. Extremely slow service even when the place is empty. The icing on the cake is a surprise 15% service charge when dining in after 10pm. Not a mandatory gratuity added for large parties...a service charge just for eating at their 24 hour restaurant after 10pm. Did I read on their menu and all their advertising that they are America's Diner? Well most diners I know in NJ are open 24 hours and don't charge a fee for eating there during certain times. So since it seems like I'm inconveniencing them by eating at a late hour, I'll make it easier for them and not return at all. read more

Our waiter was very friendly and our food came in a timely manner. The cook mess up 1 of our orders but it wasn't anything that couldn't have been remedied. I have been eating at this Denny's for a while now, and possibly the only Denny's at this specific location. There were good and bad moments I had. The food is good as usual for its price. The service is pretty much determined on who you get. Overall the service is quite average dining in, however when it comes to doing a pick up it sometimes can suck. I had a couple of bad experiences with pick up's. There were times where they forgot an item or they seem to charge so much for what you didn't order. My personal advice to all when doing a pick up, check your food thoroughly before paying. All in all do this for every restaurant you go to. read more

This location has really gone down hill. There has been a steady decline in the quality of service. Tonight was some of the worst service I've ever experienced in a casual restaurant. Dinner started with our server Carlos unable to greet us so another server finally took our drink order (it was 7p on a Sunday-not exactly busy). When Carlos approached he took our food order and we assumed everything would be good from there. This was not the case, one of the meals came out with the appetizer (asked ahead for marinara sauce for the mozzarella sticks-none was brought) the other entrees followed about 10mins later. We were initially brought a sandwich we didn't order and a side of pancakes which we also didn't order. We explained this and Carlos looked legitimately confused and eventually figured out he was serving us another tables meals. Those meals were placed under the warmer for an extended period of time. He said that the quesadilla was still on the grill and would be out shorty, it arrived 10 mins later. To complete the meal we were never brought the refills that were requested and had to ask multiple times for a to go box and the check. This is probably my final visit to this location, it has gone from one of the best Dennys to the worst. read more

I've been going to Denny's at least once a week. The staff is friendly, the location is clean. The Management seems to be really on top of things. I usually get the breakfast items. Worst experience ever at Denny's. First off, 20 minute wait, no problem until people who came in after us starting getting seated. The host was walking around calling names and every time someone was called she walked right past us. Went up to the host stand where the manager TIFFANY CEYLAND rudely told me my party was already called. What did she do for me, a paying customer who has been waiting almost 35 minutes, put me at the bottom of the list again. I should have left then but I have hungry children so we decided to wait it out. Finally got sat. The server, Mike, did his best I would like to say. He told us he wouldn't let us down with our order and I feel completely let down. Another person other then our waiter brought out my food, just mine. Which was a skillet. Two people in our group ordered a skillet but they gave this one to me. One person got food out of 3, why? Can't tell you. So I start preparing my food. When mike comes back with the rest of the food, he says I have the wrong skillet in front of me. The difference between the two are basically jalapeños and spicy sauce. Neither of them had that. So what was the difference? The world will never know. Someone got toast. Rock hard, not edible. French fries, cold and hard. A different manager walked by almost every other table and asked how they were doing besides ours. Rude. Every person was rude, besides our sweet waiter Mike. I always look for cleanliness in the restaurant as well as the service staff, this Denny's passed, now onto the food, three of us ordered nacho's and chicken noodle soup, very good, we all ordered hamburgers, absolutely delicious, I choose broccoli instead of fries as my side, I've have choose broccoli in fine restaurants that could not compete with the way Denny's has cooked and season the vegetable. I could tell the fries were cooked in clean oil, avocado on my burger was very fresh with no brown spots, freshly toasted buns. Our waitress was very nice and took care of all our request, very pleasant and always smiling. I've eaten breakfast at this Denny's many times always great. read more

My wife an I went to the Northfield Denny's on Sunday, March 10th at 12:45pm. Their was only a 5 minute wait. I have been their in the past and had a good experience. However, this time I experienced the worst service of my life. My wife ordered a skilletr meal and I order basic scrabled eggs, sausage and pancakes. My wifes meal came out after 15 minutes. However, I kept waiting and waiting for another 40 minutes. At this point my wife was done with her meal. The waitress never came over to ask if we were happy with our meals or if we needed anything else. I signaled the server, who appeared to ignore me. I had enough and went to the cashier and asked for the manager. The cashier said that he was the manager and that he was not walking around to see what was happening with the customers. As I told the manager my problem, my meal was put done on the table. I then sat down to eat it and noticed the whole meal was totally cold and must have been setting around somewhere for a while. I called the Manager over again and told him about the cold meal had arrived after waiting for an hour. He said that he was sorry and would put another order in and he would cook it personnaly himself. I thought, why would the manager be cooking meals, however, I took him up on his offer. After eating my meal the waitress came over an appoligized. However, she blamed it on the slow kithen staff. I did not argue with her, however, I know the kitchen staff was putting out me on a perfectly fine basis. The other customers around me that had different server were getting their meals on a timely basis with a problem. I also, noticed that 2 other tables with customers had similar problems that this same server and also had the manager called ovver each table for assistance. The problem is that it appears the manager does not care that his server was not providing service to her customers. He seemed to be very complacent about the whole thing.
