Definitely one of the lower quality dennys I've been to, food was good but the service was kinda weird. I had 3 different servers walk by spilled orange juice and didn't even acknowledge it until I said something, food was good but the order didn't come back right I didn't even say anything about that because They had a waiting line, same reason i didn't ask for another maple syrup dispenser seeing as the one they gave me was so old that it clogged the bottle. read more

We were passing though and stopped at Denny's. The wait time for a table was greater than 30 minutes. Once seated, we waited more than 20 minutes to get our order taken. There happened to be 10 empty tables in the area we're seated in, waiting to be cleaned, so the wait time doesn't make sense. Horrible wait time and even worse service!! read more

My wife and went to the Payson, az Denny's on november 22nd 2021 at 10:30am only to witness 90 minutes of incompetence from it's manager. The manager is inept with no management staff skills. We waited over one hour for a meal we were told was never prepared and had no idea when it would be prepared. The waitress tried to remind the cooks to prepare our meal. The manager continued to do nothing to speak with the cooks, and stood around talking and laughing. Not a care for her customers and managerial representative for Denny's corporation. We waited 30 more minutes for our food with no avail and finally got up left wasting 90 minutes of travel time. Again, Denny's should be embarrassed having this manager employed. Avoid this place. My experience here was absolutely unacceptable. To start off, my utensils came dirty I had to clean them with my napkin. I also did not receive my drink until 5 minutes after my food, while everyone else who ordered after me got theirs immediately. When my food did arrive my plate was dirty and i was also given the wrong food. I asked for a single cheeseburger and was given a double with hash browns inside and given the wrong fries. I also was given a half empty chocolate milk and had to ask A SEPARATE waiter to bring me a full one. My hash browns were in fact no where near hot; they were cold. My water tasted like chlorine!! We have enjoyed Denny's in the past, but so disappointed with the rude behavior of the waitress on Memorial Day weekend. Saturday evening we went to Denny's with family. My sister in law asked for a lemon slice for her vegetables and the waitress told her they didn't have enough lemons for the big weekend and could only use them for water. She was very rude and treated her like she was thoughtless for asking for a lemon. She never came back to our table and did not bring us a ticket. So sad about this! read more

It's fine. I don't expect great things but when we go to Payson, we periodically will stop here on our way home. The servers are usually personable, but don't expect to get in and out fast. I think that's my only real complaint. You might get the food fast or not, but something about eating at this Denny's, you've got to have patience. I am not from Payson; But, I am familiar with the concept of Dennys. Its okay food at a price you won't get too bothered over - the business model is one I can usually get behind. Not this time. I was in a party of 3 with my wife and my mother who is now a Payson resident and swears by the friendly smiles at this local Dennys. We were greeted quickly enough and were sat by the seemingly confident Wes. Wes was very polite and never overstayed his welcome. Unfortunately his shift had ended two hours prior and he was working due to some unknown circumstance. Wes informed us our new server was going to be Mona Lisa, and that she was "stellar". How he managed to keep a straight face while uttering that sentence - I'll never know. Mona Lisa was unfamiliar with the concept of familiarity - as in you have to have previous encounters to build a "friendship" ground. She continued being unprofessional by not having the menu known (asking my mother to tell her everything that was included with her entree), not placing orders promptly after receiving them, leaving cups empty, telling awkward and forced jokes (it was fucking awful, who cares about your fish story), and etc. My food came out incorrectly, and our entrees come out before our salads, desert ordered wasn't available and no recommendation was made for what to get instead. Mona Lisa made it a point to show us what other people were eating/were about to eat, what her favorite color was, where she came from, repeat repeat. I will never come back to this establishment. I felt unwelcome, unwanted, smothered, and out-of-place. The food was cold. It was overpriced. Mona Lisa's service couldn't justify her tip - and yet I could tell she wanted more. 666. read more

You know, Denny's was good, especially this Denny's. When I'm needing good coffee, pancakes, and Hashbrowns, this spot has never let me down. I know I can come to this restaurant any time and get great blueberry pancakes, or delicious "Red, white, and blue French Toast," steak and eggs for breakfast! Of course one of my favorites is the mushroom and Swiss burger, and they have delicious milkshakes to go with it (I would name one but they are always changing!). We went to Payson for a 1 day snow play trip. Decided to dine at Denny's before driving back down the mountain to Phoenix. WORST IDEA EVER. It was a 10 minute wait to be seated. This place wasn't swamped, but a steady flow of patrons was noted. 15 additional minutes before a waitress came to see us. At that point we ordered drinks and food. She brought our drinks within minutes. But then never came to check on us. We needed refills. Other tables received thier food that ordered after us. My young son fell asleep tired and angry at me for choosing this restaurant. I had to go to the counter and ask where our food was. They looked on the screen and saw that our food had been "bumped" or skipped actually. Um what? We have been here now an hour and a half and no food? Wow. The man apologized and they began making it right then. A hostess came by to tell us we could have free dessert or comp our drinks. That wasn't good enough, our eggs came and were not cooked. Over easy has a runny yolk, not clear egg whites. Yuck. This was by far the worst restaurant experience we have ever had. It seemed as if we were ignored because we were not locals. I'm spoiled by the Denny's in Chandler near where I live. I love them there. This one..... Its subpar, nothing really memerable, my eggs were overcooked and there were a lot of coffee grounds in my guys coffee, to the point he was spitting them out. I don't often complain but the reason I'm annoyed to the point of actually reviewing a chain location like this is that when I did mention that my eggs were over cooked and that he didnt want anymore coffee because of the grinds, she IGNORED ME. 2 hour drive to Payson this past weekend and we were so hungry! We waited longer than normal because of a large party, no problem. Get our dinner and the eggs were undercooked - almost raw, hash browns half cooked, bacon that looked like it sat out all day. Just dreadful. I asked for them to remake/cook it more and they do. I then hear the cook and the manager making fun of the situation. The manager came to our table and just stood next to me without saying a word... I say hello and he asks what the problem is. I hand him the rock hard piece of bacon and he tells me it's a bit over cooked... my friend also speaks up about her dinner. He says he will take it off the bill. Ok thanks. He walks away and completely removes himself from the situation. That was seriously the weirdest conversation I've ever had. The employees were looking for that manager, Chris Brady #6688, running around inside and out looking for him to discuss our bill. The servers were great and very kind. This is the slowest and worst Denny's ever...... of all time...... They have 15 open tables but not sitting anyone at them cause, a waitress can only work 3 tables at one time. If she stopped wandering off to talk with her friends. Once we got seated, our waitress was amazing. Absolute worst Denny's I have ever been to. Came into town for an annuals softball tournament and wanted a fast and affordable breakfast before we play. We waited for over 30 minutes with only two party's in the waiting room and at least 9 dirty tables waiting to be busted. A party that came in after us was seated before our group of 3. Obviously there is no organization. The host had no idea how long the wait would be nor did she even want to be there. She kept drinking her Starbucks under the desk and at every moment would hide in the side room by the computers. There were also multiple staff members standing around, visiting with one another. I have been dining at this Denny's location regularly for a few years now. The service has always varied, but unless it is very busy at the time, has usually been good. I am always courteous with the servers and tip at 20% or more. But my last experience is the reason for the 2 stars average rating. I had to seat myself and was totally and completely ignored. It was very slow in there so there really was no excuse. The waitress, who I never had any problems with previously, did notice me but made no effort to come over. Not to take my order, bring me water or anything. After about 20min, I decided to leave and eat elsewhere. I did let the waitress know I would not be eating there that evening. I was there yesterday Saturday the 6th of January with my sister, her husband and kids including my kids. It was 8 of us altogether, we got seated right away the waiter got us our drinks and took our order. Then we never saw her again after waiting over 30 minutes my brother in law want to the front desk to check on our food. The lady said it would soon be out. When the food arrived there was supposed to be no cheese on my bother in law plate and there was. Ok I know what you're thinking... it's Denny's. But seriously it has been one freaking hour and we are still waiting for our food. To my understanding, this is supposed to be a fast dine in restaurant but not this one. The lady who answered the phone was very rude and also told us it would be a 20 minute wait. Anthony was our server and was fantastic! After waiting one hour and watching the few others who were sat after us get their food, we had enough and just got up and left. I've never done this before and hate leaving bad reviews but they deserve it. Anthony, on the other hand, kept us in the loop on how it was taking forever and how his manager told him to wait to put our food ticket in. He was confused and so were we as to why we had to wait even longer than we already had. Apparently, there was a new cook and they didn't want to overwhelm him with our four person order. Didn't make sense to us since the 3 who sat down at the same time as us received their food basically right after they were seated. I'll definitely be taking my money elsewhere and advise you do the same. You'll get better service from Burger King than this Denny's that's for sure. PS. I wish there was a ZERO star review-Not for Dennys itself-but for the server Cheyanne. Not only was her service incredibly rude, but she also then threw my receipt at my face because SHE rung up 3 things wrong. Now I totally understand when things get busy it is hard to keep up with everything, but there was only 2 other tables seated, and she never checked on us once. There were 4 of us total- NONE of the eggs were cooked (they all looked like runny snot) and 2 of us ordered pancakes and asked for syrup 3 times, that we had to flag her down for.. After explaining that the bill was rung up wrong and that NONE of us could eat our eggs (which we clearly left on the table) she rudely said "Well if you would have told me sooner maybe I could have done something" it's hard to tell you sooner if you never checked on us once. Our drinks were empty, our food was awful (which was not her fault, but it is her job responsibility to check on how everything is before throwing the bill), and she had an awful attitude the entire time. I asked to speak to the manager before leaving-which I found out he was the cook for the day so I do understand but that does not excuse the awful behavior she displayed. The woman who helped check out and pay fixed the issues on the bill, and kindly took off the cost of the eggs. I am more than happy to pay for what I ate, but I am so very disappointed in how we were treated here by her. I am not normally a reviewer nor a "Karen" but I could not keep quiet about this situation. I have never been so disrespected before in my life by a server. Poor service never got seated . There was no host the 2 only servers were everywhere . One of them said all seat you in 5 minutes and was already standing there for 15 minutes without been seen then a cook came by and said 5 minutes again that was 39 minutes later yes my kids were hungry and exited for hot coco and pancakes before we got the rode but never got to a table we went back home to Phoenix starving .. I'm new in town and I always try a place 3 times before deciding if I'll go back or not. That being said, I won't go back to this restaurant. Service was extremely slow. On our last trip out, we waited 10 minutes before being seated. The server couldn't remember anything. She kept forgetting things...including us. Our drinks were only refilled if we pulled her aside and asked. By the time we got our food it was an hour from the time we walked in to the time the plates hit our table. (There was only 5 tables occupied) Try keeping a preschooler entertained that long. When we got our food, the portions were small, eggs were overdone and rubbery, and the hash browns were burnt and underdone. The food was cold. It's Denny's, I don't expect very much right off the bat maybe just casual diner style service, but yesterday was hands down the worst service experiance of my life. My boyfriend and I are both servers and we have both worked in restaurants for years, so basically anyone that serves us has a very easy table and will make easy money. Shelby was our server, she never introduced herself I learned this from our receipt. It started off pretty okay, we ordered some stuff to start off with and made it known we would be ordering much more food. She dropped off our appetizers we happily dug in and set our plates at the end of the table for her to pick up on her way by. She didn't. She came back to get our food order, I joked about the amount of food we were eating and she made a sour comment about how she's pregnant and eating a lot too. Am I supposed to be sorry? I'm not sure. Also, a 6 top walks in while she's at our table, and she could not be more bothered by the woman asking for a table. Anyway we place our order, she leaves, plates are still on the table. I waited about 10-15 minutes for the milkshake I ordered to arrive, and when it finally did, it was just the glass. No "little extra" in the tin cup that they are known for and it also says explicitly on the menu. Instead my boyfriend watches her devour the other half of my freaking milkshake over my shoulder. At this point it's a little comical, she made guilty eye contact with him and scurried away. While we're waiting for our food she begins complaining very loudly about the morning shift and how nobody rolled any silverware. Our food arrives, she leaves, doesnt ask if we need anything, I am missing butter and the appetizer plates are still sitting at the end of the table. She resumes her obnoxious complaints about silverware, brings what appeared to be the manager and other server over to see how much silverware was not done, and continued to tell them about the silverware. We're eating our food, the silverware tales finally quiet down and then we hear what sounds like every single peice of silverware fall on the floor. She swears at it, I finally go ask for some freaking butter, she brings it over to our table, apologizes, leaves quickly and still leaves the dirty plates. We finished eating and waited 15-20 minutes for her to remember us only because my boyfriend called her to the table for our check. She never asked how our meal was, even though we were the only people in the establishment until halfway through our visit. She never seemed to have time for us, never looked in our direction. And then when I was paying her and tipped 10% she had the audacity to ask if anything was wrong. I gave her a look and she took 10% off of our bill... Maybe that was for the half of my milkshake she decided was or her... Who knows, she's a terrible server and desperately needs to be trained in the service industry. read more

Just walked out of Dennys restaurant a party of 8. Husband and I took our coffees that we bought from circle k . After they sat us down they told us we couldn't bring our drinks because of there liquor license. We just decided to leave and go have breakfast somewhere else. They don't even have a sign that states you can't bring your drinks in. So we googled another restaurant near by and we found bee line cafe . One they didn't mind us bringing in our own coffee . And the food was awesome . I don't recommend Denny's to anyone if your visiting Payson soon. By the way this is my first yelp review I've ever done . I was so frustrated how we were treated. read more
