A lot of locals are "hating on" Denny's especially on Grant County Information, but I think it's a great addition to the dining landscape here in Silver City. Although I dine primarily at locally owned spots, Denny's is a nice option for a sit down breakfast. On a recent visit, we were served by Veronica, who was extremely patient with my special requests (grits out before the meal, something a restaurant back home used to do) and no butter or powdered sugar on the French toast. Veronica is a polished and polite server with a bright smile and she made our Sunday breakfast experience a pleasant one. The food came out lightning fast and was just as we ordered it. Dude, where's the decent food you can usually expect from a Denny's? Sure, it's not anything fancy, but it is usually dependably consistent. They were not even close here. I was staying at the hotel next door on a five day motorcycle tour through the area, so it was really convenient and I thought I had scored when I found it in the same parking lot. Boy was I ever mistaken. I was seated quickly enough the two times I went there, and the waitress was friendly and attentive the first visit I made. The hash brown were a complete travesty however, brown and slathered in grease so badly they were soggy. They were cold and looked like they had been scrapped off the bottom of my shoe. I seriously wondered if the cook was screwing with me. When he wasn't insulting me with his cooking he spent the entire time at the counter flirting with my waitress, trying to convince her to leave her boyfriend and shack up with him. It was an interesting conversation to eavesdrop on, but not appropriate on any level as I really didn't need to hear about how good he was in bed. I had also switched my order to the Grand Slam because I didn't want the Super Bird as they were out of tomatoes. I decided to give it a second try a few days later, and the food was much better. Unfortunately I had to listen to a waitress ripping apart customers for not tipping her enough. This conversation between her and co-worker took place loudly across the entire restaurant. It was so disrespectful that it made ME want to tip her badly! I get being upset about a tip, but you have that conversation in private, not across the entire restaurant as it comes across as trying to shame current customers into tipping better. Ok it's Dennys. 5:00 pm the place was empty. Walked in to be greeted by a guy, whom I thought was kitchen help by the way he dressed,who got us menus. But was interrupted by the server Rachel who actually sat us and he just fell upon a booth seat in the lobby laughing. Rachel was very friendly and nice. She explained that they had no ice tea because the machine was broken. The food was just tossed together the cook didn't have pride in his job. There's no music or any noise which allows you to hear everything. Dirty entrance but the rest of the restaurant was clean. We used to love Denny's. Not in Silver City, NM though. Horrible Manager that is as rude and disrespectful to customers as she is to employees. Employees make 3.15/hr and have to rely on tips, so most are just mad at the world. While we were there, the extremely overweight manager sat down in a booth twice with a different plate of food and spent her time sitting and eating while disrespecting employees. We will not eat there again until there is management change. We heard her tell two employees to go to the back to eat food that was sent back, while she plopped her butt in a booth and inhaled food she did not pay for. Started off with a taco Cali skillet. My avacados were bad and I had a hair on my food. So they took it back to make me a new one. As they were gone I noticed the sour cream packet was out of date. They brought me a fresh skillet, the avocados were fresh but they did not put the chorizo in my skillet l, as I asked for the first time. They ended up not charging for it. read more

I chose 1 star out of necessity to leave this review, but it should be 0. The service was terrible and the waitress staff were beyond rude (e.g. eye-rolling, attitude and tone) and incompetent (e.g. 2 trips to table to take an order and 2 or more trips to deliver food, spilling water on floor and me and not apologizing or making any attempt to clean or have cleaned thereby creating a slip and fall hazard). The seats of the booths were not cleaned and very dirty (e.g. food crumbs and oil smears, child's dirty hand and shoe prints). The silverware was dirty, I had to request a clean fork literally 3 times before actually getting one that didn't have someone else's food on it. When the food finally arrived it wasn't hot, the omelette and hash browns were over cooked and overly greasy, and the oil used to cook the food was old and on the verge of being rancid. We waited for 10 mins to be seated even though the restaurant was not busy. We were there at 10:30am on a Thursday. During that time, 3 other groups came in behind us. We walked out after sitting at the table another 15 mins without being acknowledged by the wait staff even though they walked past us multiple times. The food was delicious, however, the sausage that was suppose to be in this skillet was cut in half. Barely tell it's there. Also the bacon, was pretty pathetic. It was half the size of a thick cut bacon. Should switch to thick cut that this thin bacon that shrinks in size once it's cooked. They need to purchase better quality bacon and sausage. Came in for my Birthday Everyday Grand Slam and coffee today. The young lady, Ruth, who was my server took my order right away and kindly informed me the coffee's not included so as to not surprise me later. We've always enjoyed our meals at Denny's. First time we had Melissa as our server and she was wonderful! She made extra sure everything was to our liking, i.e. split the salad, bbq on the side. The ladies restroom was clean, but they still have to work on getting rid of the smell. I think it has to do with the plumbing and not surfaces. read more

If I could give 0 stars I would we sat here for an hour and a half and got no food ended up getting it to go after waiting 45 minutes to just order, then after when we ask to get it to go they were rude about it, there was a total of 3 tables and the other tables got there food way before us after they got here after us.
