Wait time wasn't bad. Got seated...would have sat for more than 10 minutes had not one of the galls noticed that we had not been serve. The manager seemed to be lost. He took our order not a server. Came here on family day - it was packed! They were clearly understaffed. The servers did the best they could but the owners really need to step it up with ensuring the place has enough staff. We were seated relatively fast but I saw customers who came in after us waiting for 15+ mins at the door. We waited over an hour for our food, and when we got the food, it was such a disappointment! The T-bone steak was ordered as medium rare but came out as well done and was clearly overcooked and inedible (see photo). The haddock was very burnt. I stopped in for brunch with my boyfriend as this location just opened and he was eager to check it out. First thing i noticed was how quite it was inside even though it was full. We sat down at a booth and checked out the menu. I decided to go with the chicken tenders which came with two sides so I chose fries and hash browns. The waitress asked if I wanted a side of spice toast. I inquired what that was and our waitress said it was similar to garlic bread. Our food didn't take that long to come out but I did notice the man, who I believe is the manager, was slicing bananas for dishes and then rearranging them on plates without wearing gloves. Everyone else cooking had gloves on. The servers weren't wearing gloves but they just carried the plates. Seeing this man cutting and then rearranging the bananas with no gloves definitely turned me off from getting anything with bananas. Our food came and was excellent. The chicken fingers were decent and came with a bowl of sauce on the side which I was pleasantly surprised with. The fries are a thicker cut but held the sauce well when I dipped them. The hash browns was the star of the plate. Crunchy and crispy outside but still cooked inside without being mushy. Great flavor on their own or paired with ketchup or hot sauce. I had diet Coke with it, which tasted suspiciously like regular Pepsi but came with free refills which was nice. Our server was excellent, very friendly and outgoing. You know exactly what you're going to get when you come here. the eggs are going to be average, the hash browns are going to be great, and the pancakes are going to be the best pancakes you ever had. But here's the thing about those pancakes, they can be incredibly expensive if you buy the ones with fruit in them. That said, if you create your own Grand slam you can go pancake wild. You can have any four items that you want and each of those items can be a to pancake order. At that point you're looking at a giant pancakes in the whole bottle of syrup to drown them in. I'm sure a lot of people come here for something else, but for me it's the pancakes. Pancakes all day long. I hear you can even get them at 3 AM, and is there anything better or more dangerous than that? read more

Not my style at all, but one observation is necessary: if the place is busy, you have a less than 50% chance of your meal arriving at the table warm. Went to Denny's for my birthday breakfast and was greeted by the most lovely staff! Ava made sure we got a table quickly when the place was packed and Daniela was the sweetest waitress. We weren't sure if they put the extra eggs we had requested and both Ava and Daniela double checked with the kitchen and made sure we got them, and then some! The manager brought the plate to us and apologized and the plate pretty much had double our order! I'm not a huge fan of Denny's in the first place so I did not expect much. Extremely Slow customer service and a disorganized kitchen. I came in and for 35 minutes have been seated and no one came to at least take my order. So many staff yet no customer service. The manager made eye contact with me and pretends to not see me even though my hand is up. People have been waiting an hour for their food. All they do is try to tell people to leave. My lumberJack order had incorrect items, my avocado salad had 3 thin sliced pieces of avocado on it, dried out salad pieces. u ordered sunny side up eggs and the were not sunny side up, they were over easy. Horrible service, worst experience. We were seated right away which was good. We waited 35 minutes for the waitress to come and ask what we wanted to drink and to take our order. She finally brought us coffee. We waited another 30 minutes for our food. The side of toast we ordered was forgotten about and never brought to us. Food was average, not bad. The waitress did not ask if we wanted more coffee while we ate and didn't check on us to see if we needed anything else. We then waited another 15 minutes when we finally got her attention to bring us the bill. We reminded her to take the side of toast off the bill since we never got it. Meanwhile our table was right next to the entrance and there were at least 20 people standing and waiting to be seated the whole time we were there. We also heard other customers complaining about the wait and not getting things they asked for. The man who seemed to be the manager was pacing back and forth and not attending to customers. Slowly they started to seat people when we were almost leaving. The people there are very unprofessional and not taking their job seriously. The manager sat a family of 5 at a booth that is comfortable for 2 people and will fit 4 snuggly. All around bad experience and will not go back here. Very disappointing. read more

So Denny's has been around for a while. But none in Toronto until a few years ago. Great service, based off my experience and good food. But downtown? Not ideal when driving or if you're not in the area. So when they finally opened the location on St Clair, East of Keele, I was stoked. When we got there, the hostesses were extremely friendly. So the expectations are high... and then we get to our table. The servers neglected tables a bit, some even had an attitude. The food portions were smaller than at other locations. And the final and last time we went was in the early afternoon. No one was there, other than another couple who had walked in right ahead of myself and my group. We got sat. And so did another table right after us. And we waited. The server served the table ahead of us their drinks and took their order. And we waited...and waited... for 30 min without being approached. Neither was the table who got sat after us. The server on the clock walked past our table about 7 times and even looked at us. And didn't greet us. Didn't inform us of coming to us eventually or anything. Mind you, there's only our 3 tables. All 3 people or less. And 2 out of the 3 tables got no tables. We got up and left. That was the last time I went there. And hopefully the service improves. read more

I won't return to the Denny's on St. Clair. The food was standard, but the service was painfully slow and careless. It took ages for the server to take our order, then she disappeared into the kitchen area, and nobody else could seem to help us get our food. A simple meal for a family of 4 (including 2 little kids) ended up taking over 2 hours. Requests, such as gravy on the side, were ignored. We had to stand up and put our jackets on just to get the bill. The server was unapologetic and clueless. The managers were more concerned with putting the chairs and tables in exactly the correct positions on the floor tiles. Unfortunately, I don't recommend this Denny's. read more
