I would give this place a 1 star for service but 2 for good food. I really was debating on whether or not I should leave a comment but I think it should be said, I couldn't get the name, but he is a light skin man with a very bad attitude that can be noticed from a mile away. My dad came in to get seats first, so I'm guessing the light skin man greeted my dad, while I came about 10 mins after, so I didn't know that vibes yet. So when I come and sit at the booth with my dad, the waiter comes and starts to take our order, I then noticed the negative energy and attitude right away from him. He brings us our first order of soups and my dad asked him a few times if they had soup spoons instead of tea spoon for our soup, then the waiter starts talking to my dad like he's dumb, then brings two different spoons (that weren't the soup spoon) and displays it in his hands to my dad (and stupidly asks my dad in a very mean tone) are these the spoons? My dad kindly says no. So after a few more of orders and few more of his attitudes, our last order was my dads two ice cream scoops, and when the waiter brings the ice cream and dozes away , my dad picks up the spoon that came with the ice cream, and what do you know, it's the soup spoon. We asked another waiter if our original waiter knew what a soup spoon was, and explain to her the situation. She then comes back and apologizes basically for him and says that he is sorry. lol we don't see him anymore after that. So three things I do want to point out from this experience, 1. be aware and mentally prepared of a light skin coward who's attitude is worst than a women's. 2. Not all of the waiters are mean here. And 3. Their food is not that bad, so I'll give em that part ( a thumbs up ). The reason for 4 stars vs 5 stars is we were standing by the entrance for 3 minutes with no hostess to greet us... I ate here late last night / early this morning. I ordered the Santa Fe skillet. It was delicious. Came back in for a late lunch, but there seemed to be a lot of flies in the place. I saw one couple eating, and it looked like the flies were doing bombing runs on them as they tried to eat their food. I noped out of there without ordering. We stopped in on our way through, excited to get breakfast for dinner. Service lacked big time. The manager walked around shouting the names of the employees and telling them they had tables or what to do, but I didn't see her do much (just shout). The waitress might have been new, so I'm not going to say much, other than she needed work. She didn't know what our meals included and to ask how we wanted our eggs. Order came out missing major parts. Waitress didn't notice and no other staff did either. We waited forever for the food and even longer for the missing parts. So, it's Easter Sunday and you find yourself in downtown Winslow. It's time for breakfast and nothing is open. What to do? Headed for the truck stop since we knew something would be open. Turns out Denny's was hopping. Normally we would avoid eating at Denny's whenever possible but since our choices were limited this is where we ended up. They were pretty busy, but we still got seated right away. The hostess was super nice and our waitress was also just as great. P had the pot roast sandwich, E had the chicken strips (with a side of biscuits!) and I had a prime rib sandwich. All of the orders were just as we requested and the food came out pretty fast. Mine came out so fast I almost burned my mouth! All the wait staff was happy to be there, attentive and almost bordered on being too nice. Coffee cups never got a chance to be half empty and other drinks were refilled without asking as well. To top it all off, the waitress came by with a bowl of Easter candy for E to pick from. That's really above and beyond. This was really an enjoyable experience especially for a Denny's. If we are ever passing through the area, we'd stop by there again. read more

Went in at 8pm for dinner after a long drive. Tired and hungry, there was no host to seat us even though there was a sign that said to wait. We waited quite awhile. Finally after being seated, we were waited on. Salads and sandwich. The first salad came quickly. The second about 15 minutes later. The sandwich finally showed up 35-40 minutes later. No explanation. The waitress never checked back with us. When the sandwich finally appeared, it was on white bread not whole grain. The excuse- the cooks burned the toast. Haha. My friend ordered dessert. Big mistake. Another half an hour we were ready to cancel and go. Don't know if it was bad management, or chaos with the cooks. It's a Denny's not much to say. Food is ok, portions are small service spotty.

I get that service during Covid is adapting around the restrictions.. social distancing causing limited occupancy in seating and staffing. But there was NO excuse for the disregard the manager had for the customers waiting and being served. Through no fault of our server, the food took nearly an hour to get to the table, missing items.. but the worst thing was watching our server James trying to serve, bus tables, cashier and sit incoming customers...all the while the manager would stroll in and out or just blatantly stand off on the side watching this man run himself into a stressed out sweat! At one point he even politely asked if she would step in.. she said 'no'. Nobody could find our ticket as we were checking out, (he also was our cashier) she was so done with it she told us ' just have a nice day'. While another angry customer reamed James at the register. Terribly disappointed by this Denny's location. I understand it was a Saturday morning but that's no excuse to be totally ignored by not one, but two employees at the hostess station. I walked in with my wife and young daughter and waited at least three minutes for someone to greet us. One woman, whose name I would give except that her name tag was blank, never looked at us as she got three menus and went to seat another party. Another older woman, a hostess, also came over but totally ignored us. After feeling invisible for a prolonged period, we bolted. I don't want to read an excuse that "it was busy."
