We had margs and snackies at the bar for happy hour. I loved my prickly pear spicy marg with a Tajin rim. We relaxed (aka multiple luggage rack trips with all of the valuables from your trunk), walked the property a bit and later came back for dinner. Our meal was fantastic! My southwest Caesar and signature soup were so satisfying. I adore the creative concept of the soup, so clever and scrumptious. Service was excellent at the bar and in the restaurant. The Turquoise Room truly makes the stay at La Posada a perfect one.

History: The Fred Harvey Restaurant group had dining rooms at major railway stations through out the U. S. There still exists a former Harvey restaurant at the Los Ángeles Union Station. From 1930 to 1957 a Harvey restaurant at La Posada Hotel ruled the Winslow culinary scene until the decline of passenger rail travel. In 1961 Santa Fe Railroad gutted the Posada Hotel to make a regional office. In 1997 Allan Affeldt & Tina Mion acquired La Posada from the Santa Fe Railway and restored the La Posada Hotel & the dining room calling it the Turquoise Room in honor of the Santa Fe Super Chief trains running from L.A. to Chicago. The most sumptuous dining car was called, of course, The Turquoise Room. The dining room has windows facing the railroad tracks so trains, mainly freight, can be seen passing by all the time to remind us it is a railroad station. The interior has a pleasing Spanish Colonial or Mexican theme that plays throughout the hotel. I was fortunate to be in the presence of some former Harvey Girls who were waitresses back in the 1950's along with others who were reenacters and wanted to carry on the tradition. Their white smock apron-dress and black, long sleeve inner dress give them a very distinctive almost New England Puritan look. 1) Complimentary Corn Bread: Honey sticky browned top, light golden, moist yet pleasantly gritty, crumbly cake. Slight buttery undertone. 2) Arizona Grown Salad Bowl: It's humongous! Enough for almost 2 people. a) Crunchy, al dente, fresh tasting, fibrous, slightly bitter, long green beans b) Fibrous sweet & bitter, crunchy yet moist golden beet "spaghetti". c) Carrot String: Fibrous, sweet with that medicinal funk. d) Jícama: Crunchy, juicy napped in sweet vinegar. e) Green & Red Kale: Unusual bitter tonic with roughage f) Sweet, airy air popped corn. g) Dried leathery sweet-sour Cranberry h) Starchy, light steamed quinoa braised in a light broth. i) Shiny fried green Kale chip with a nice toasty, Umani. j) Dry textured Tepary beans that also has nuttiness & bitterness. k) Garden mix of soft greens l) Corn Salad of chopped tomato, green bell, red onion, Pasilla chile. m) Avocado: Perfectly ripe, buttery, soft Lemon Tahini Salad Dressing: Nice nutty sesame toastiness from the tahini, citrus gastrique & scent. Thick to coat all the ingredients. 1-2a) Prickly Pear Lemonade: The prickly pear adds a slightly musky fruitiness and a pretty purple pink hue to a rather sweet & lemony concoction. 3) Fred Harvey Pie: Seasonal fruit was fresh strawberry & apple with a nice sugary glaze and was cooked just long enough to soften the fruit but retain a vivid colour. Crust is drier, flaky with a sprinkling of confectioners' snow white sugar powder. Vanilla Gelato. This refreshing, light totally vegan salad revived me on a return road trip from Dallas to see the Total Solar Eclipse to hometown Los Ángeles. 4 stars

This location and restaurant is beautiful. The service is pleasant. The crispy pork carnitas phenomenal. The only draw back is the drink costs and rules about refills for iced tea. They do have seating with great views of the trains passing by the hotel/restaurant

Loved the historic hotel and the food was lovely! My adult son and I each had a great time there. Everyone needs to stay at this hotel at least once!

My husband wanted to stand on the corner in Winslow, Arizona....sounds like the start of a song or a mystery novel. We knew we'd be in the Winslow area around lunch and The Turquoise room shows up on all the lists. While I'm so happy we stopped in and got to see the La Posada hotel, beautifully curated gift shop and trains....the lunch itself was kinda meh. When we arrived they advised they were serving the travelers menu, an abridged lunch menu. Our lunches were oddly spiced, parts of each of ours were good, but all together strange. The tamale served with mine, was like deconstructed corn bread, it was good, but not a tamale. We ordered dessert, because we're on vacation and celebrating a birthday and I have a sweet tooth. Our waiter advised my husband to be careful as his pie might be very hot, it was a strange warning as his pie was room temperature. I ordered the pistachio tres leches, which was pistachio cake on a pond of green cream? It wasn't tres leches. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't tres leches. The standouts here were the library inside the restaurant I thoroughly enjoyed perusing some of the art and photography books while watching the trains go by. I loved the art and sinks in the restrooms. I loved the lobby, the gift shop and the gardens. I'm also happy we stopped in because they allow dogs, and I don't think I could stay in the hotel listening to some of the dogs we heard that afternoon. If you're a Mary Colter fan definitely stop in.

The ambiance is amazing at this historic hotel. The blue cheese salad was amazing with spicy pecans and a bacon rosette. My partner had the shrimp pappardelle. It had a crème sauce that had no flavor. We added tons of salt and pepper but it really was tasteless. It definitely needed more garlic and red pepper to the sauce. I had the chicken mole. It was cooked perfectly so in that sense was good. It had a ton of five spice blend in it. Me, I'd rather have an authentic mole with fruit and roasted peppers and not an Asian Mexican mole. That's just wrong to me. But, the chicken was perfect and the corn tamale that came with it was really tasty. Margaritas were good and so was the staff.

Are small pets allowed ( 10 pound shih tzu)?

I did not see any pets in the restaurant but plenty on property.

    Breakfast all day?

No - I think breakfast is served from 7-9:30AM. Brunch might go a little later.

The inside is even cuter than what it looks from the outside. It is dark but not too dark, and cozy with candlelight, bottles on display, but still casual and not overwhelming. There were a variety of seating options from the bar to high top tables, larger tables, and sofas and lounge chairs. The server and the sommelier were both friendly and helpful. We had the wine tasting flight special which included 5 wines (2 whites 3 reds) and a personal charcuterie. The charcuterie was mostly cheese but also had some nuts and ham. The wines were a good variety and I think mostly from Europe. We also ordered a panini each and both the pesto chicken and caprese were tasty. The sandwich portion was larger than expected as well and overall that plus the personal charcuterie each was enough food for dinner!

We were pleasantly surprised at how nice the space was especially the seating options. The decor is wine time ready to say the least. Our server was super friendly and shared her insights on the wine selection. Since it was our first time we ordered the white wine flight and red wine flight so that we can try a few different brands. We also ordered the white wine board which was perfect to snack on during our time. Everything was nice. We found out that they do have live music starting in March on Fridays and Saturdays. Although we live in Flagstaff we plan on visiting again in March. Great spot to take a few friends and sit in the outside patio to enjoy the weather. Last note is that they have a really nice selection. Don't pass on the AZ wines they are surprisingly good.
