Won't fix the issue and won't refund you for them not being able to!! Brought a wallet to get the zipper fixed or replaced. Since shoe and bag repair is their "specialty" i figured they would have enough knowledge and experience to be able to discern which is needed. They retracted my zipper and it lasted less than a day. They told me to bring it back by to which they said it would need to be replaced - fine but now i have to pay for this new service with no credit or refund for THEIR first failed attempt at what should be a simple repair for "specialists". The lady said they don't guarantee their work but i was not told this bogus fine print. This is my first time here - I do not recommend and will not be coming back ! read more

This isn't the Deno's in Highland Park Village but I found it very good and a lot less expensive. The work done my purse and shoes was of high quality. Everything I've brought here to repair has come out perfectly. Some people may find the repairman difficult to understand but he knows what he's doing and I haven't brought anything he can't fix. read more

I rarely change shoe repair shops, however I did and what a mistake! Be AWARE , they accept checks or cash ONLY. I spent 20 mins trying to find an ATM working in order to get the cash to pay for the shoes!! He did apologize for the inconvenience, nice gentleman. read more

I used to work in the area and left a pair of riding boots to be fixed (broken zipper). My company moved me across town and then I seldom came to university park and if I did it was early in the morning or late in the evening therefore never during this business' working hours. This was back in 2017... the owner left me a few voicemails letting me know the boots were ready but after a few years I just assumed he probably threw them away. Well I was in the area after a studio class and decided to stop in just to see on the off chance he had my boots. I told the gentleman in the front I left me boots roughly 3-4 years ago, didn't have a ticket but just wanted to check. He looked bewildered but said he would look around. After a few minutes he came back laughing and said he would always look at these boots every so often and wonder if I was ever going to get them. I will say the shop is a little disorganized but in today's fast and instant gratification society it's sort of nice to help a small business like this one that has a unique presence. The job was executed well and the owner/cobbler was sweet and patient just a little rough around the edges. However it's endearing like a no nonsense grandfather. Jimmy Velis is a superb craftsman and cobbler. I had my Black Lucchese roper boots resoled including new heels. The work was superb! As a matter of fact, the quality of the material used for the boot soles and heel was much better than when they were new! BEWARE!! Brought in a Tory Burch wristlet. The leather loop that holds the strap was ripping. Deno said it would be ready in about a week for $24. Two weeks later we call and he said it would be finished over the coming weekend. We still had no word so the following week we call and He said he was waiting for US to bring the strap?! After he figured it out apparently whoever took my wristlet to fix it left my strap on a bench in a warehouse? He was never pleasant to speak to unfortunately. This man might need someone to answer phones or man the books because he raised his voice and never allowed me to speak regarding anything. He was very rude. The work was nothing impressive, sloppy even and my white wristlet was returned with scratches and black polish all over it. I couldn't imagine if I would have brought something of more value in to have him fix. read more

This is a great place. What do you want from a shoe repair shop? Great work! I dont mind that the owner, an older man, is not so friendly. He's a craftsman, not a salesman. His place is a mess but it's been there forever and dust doesn't lie. He's always done a great job at a reasonable price. Don't go for pleasantries...go for good work. read more

1st time here. Brought a leather jacket to fix a connector on the collar. It was not a snap but a piece that held it on and the man working insisted it was suppose to be a snap. I had all of the pieces that connected the collar flap and showed it to him but he continued to argue that was not the way it was suppose to be....needless to say I didn't leave it there, took it to Rico Hillside Shoe Service off Mockingbird and Abrams and he fixed it! read more

This was my first experience at Dino's. I had a lot of friends who have gone to the Highland Park location but not this one. When I dropped off my shoes on July 23rd I asked for an idea of how much it would be and he couldn't give me a range. Then I followed up after 2 weeks... not ready. I followed up after 4 weeks... not ready and should be ready the next week. Finally, I followed up on September 16th and he said they were ready and blamed me for not reaching out to him. I got to the location to pay and he said cash only. I went to the bank and picked up cash and since I didn't say thank you, he berated me about it being my fault. He let me know he had been there for 51 years and to get out of his store. I was floored by his lack of customer service. I know they are a highly recommended shoe retailer shop, but I would consider other options if possible. read more

This was the worse experience I've ever had with a product. After being referred to get boots dyed it took 3 months to get them. I called numerous times because I was never contacted. I was told by the owner that it wasn't his problem it took so long. When I finally was able to pick the boot up the owner yelled at me to get out of his store and not talk to anyone about this. That he has lots of business and that it's good customer service to never contact a customer. After telling me I should know better and should have come by more often, he decided to take $10 off so I wouldn't write this review. I'm happy to say I'd rather pay in full and let others know of his poor treatment. read more

Jimmy is the best! New soles, waterproofing, stretching new shoes in just the right spots - he does it all. Just went in with some spots on my suede boots (that he had waterproofed) and he showed me exactly how to remove the spots perfectly! read more

I disagree with the previous review. Sounds like work was was never done there why would you take a jacket to a shoe repair place anyway. Been going there for years and have had no issues. Great craftsmanship! read more
