Terrible office staff and customer service. Second appointment with poor service. First appointment I was insulted after asking why I would have to have X-rays done for a second time for the same service. Dental aid states " this is above my pay grade", instead of giving an answer. Manager comes to assist stating I did not need more xrays but after the poor attitude of staff, I no longer wanted to be seen. Second appointment after arriving 15 minutes early we wait an hour an no one calls us in. I ask staff has there been an issue with scheduling they state no but no explanation for why we had been waiting an hour an others that arrive after us received service and left. I was told I would have to wait another 30 minutes with no service. TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE TWICE. We had to reschedule and hopefully we will be seen again. I guess you get what the pay for! This was by far the worst experience I've ever had. I waited for over an hour and was never even called back to be seen. And it wasn't just me--there were several other patients also waiting 45 minutes to an hour with no explanation or communication. I've never been to a dental office where things were this disorganized. I honestly don't understand how business is even conducted here. This was my first--and definitely my last--visit. I initially had an appointment for 3:30. I was called and asked to come in early at 2. I arrived at 2:05 and was left sitting in the waiting area until after 4:30. I had my appointment set for 10am and I waited almost 2 HOURS for a CLEANING. I was infuriated that they kept calling people who arrived 30-45 MINUTES AFTER ME. I walked out after the 2 hour mark. I wish I could give this Southeast DC office a NEGATIVE FIVE STAR RATING!!!!! Last week, I arrived for my appointment and the office was closed. When I called the office I was told "the office had lost a dentist and was now closed on Tuesdays and Thursdays", I was rescheduled for today. I was rescheduled for today. I was never contacted regarding the cancellation of my appointment. I arrived for my appointment today, 15min early to complete my new patient paperwork, an hour later, I asked if there was a problem with my appointment? I was told that "there was a prior patient whose appointment had run over time, could I wait another 20 min"? I WALKED OUT Why wasn't I informed of that at any time? Why did these people have so little common courtesy OR RESPECT FOR MY TIME? I HATE THAT DOCTORS IN BLACK COMMUNITIES HAVE NO PROFESSIONALISM OR RESPECT FOR THEIR CLIENTELE. My hygienic dream team - Dental Dreams . I'm never excited about going to the dentist but it's very necessary when I'm having more issues than Vogue with my teeth . The ladies at the desk are always pleasant and my wait time has never dragged on. Any procedure I'm getting done is explained from start to finish, which ease my nerves , and there's no dragging on with that as well. I hate going to the dentist perodt! . That's why I ended up here. I had to go due to a root canal needed. When I first went I had a male dentist. I felt nothing during the procedure & he was awesome. The second time I went was for my temporary crown I had a different dentist. I felt every poke & I needed more numbing. Two weeks later. My crown was ready. I admit both dentist was very kind & clean & explained everything I needed to do. Now the hype about the front desk that's a different story. My first visit when I walked in the dark skinned receptionist rolled her eyes & said you can go sit over there. Saying it with a messed up attitude. I brushed it off#my freaking tooth hurts to bad so I brushed it off & signed in. I noticed she called everyone else by their last name as ms. Or mr. so & so. Me. Tuh! I was called by my first name & that's it. It puzzled me at first but. Fuck it. I'm here for a hurting tooth. So I'm seen. Boom!. The dental assistant called me by my first & last name. Boom! The next couple of days I get a call telling me the doc wasn't available so I was asked when will I like to come in?. I'm like. When will the doctor be available?. The receptionist replies that up to you when you wanna come in. Im like ok so what dates are available?. Finally she sets my appointment even tho she sound irritated. Even the person sitting next to me in my car heard her tone when I had her on speaker, and they said she sound irritated with you damn. All you asked was the availability wow. Once again. I'm like. I just need my tooth done#focus. Well As soon as I walk in for my second visit. I Sign in. Once again. Everyone name is called ms. Or mr. first & last name called. Uh! All I hear is my first name. Look! Y'all I'm used to hearing ppl being addressed personally perodt as they are trained to do smh, but Even the dentist assistant that called me to be ready to go in the procedure section did that shit. So I said to her y'all only call ppl by their first names only now? Their could be another person with my First name & would be getting the wrong procedure. She explains to me as we walk back to the section for procedure. That she doesn't call patients by their last name from a bad experience due to ppl getting mad at her saying their names wrong at a previous job experience. I thanked her for explain that. Cool! Procedure done! As I'm walking out. It's so silent that you could hear a pen drop. I hear whispering & soon as I exit to leave. I hear laughter & ppl saying smart remarks. I kept walking. I'm like focus honey. Stay positive.... (Weeks later) Normally you suppose to get a confirmation call to confirm if you will be coming in or not. Nope! I had to call myself to make sure I was still being seeing for my third visit. Confirmed! #Boom! My Third visit. Well. I thought maybe by coincidence maybe things would go cool with the receptionists. I call to inform them I'm there. Yes! To get in. Two. I signed in. I sit down. Lord and behold. I hear. My first name called again. I smh. This lady doesn't like me perodt. Why? She addresses other clients by first & last with abbreviation. I'm like. Think your tooth boo. Your fucking tooth. So I sign my form & sit down. Now, here's the caker with a good slice. Remember the dental assistant I mention before about how she don't call ppl by their last names. Well, lies she told. Tuh! I was able to hear her call another patient by their last name. I looked at her & she turned her head real fast as if she got caught like a deer with headlights on her lmao. I smh. Funny thing is. Y'all even that patient I mentioned name she called. Look, lol even she asked the same shit I did. What's the whole name as she was going back there for her procedure. I was completely agitated. Until 15minutes later I heard an abbreviation with my first & last name called. I looked up & said finally someone who's on their shit. I then was relieved. She even set my appointment up for me with no hesitation & was Very kind & explained so much to me. Now prior to my two other appointments the receptionist & dental assistant (ms. Don't call patients by their whole name crew) & dentists didn't set nothing up with me while I was there. I was like my third visit & this dental assistant was awesome! & the dentist I had. But y'all the look they gave the dental assistant when she set it up & I said Thank you & have a good weekend! & she replied back laaaawd.... Y'all it was a shocker!. I honestly tho will not be going back at all tho. I guess three times is enough. My mental, emotional state is important for my energy than negativity. I called this Dental Dreams location on Tuesday (April 26) to make an appointment to get my teeth cleaned. Please keep in my mind this business was not my first or tenth choice. However, my sister informed it was a Black owned business and I go out of my way to patronize Black owned businesses. So I called to schedule an appointment and was "greeted" by an unprofessional and EXTREMELY rude young woman. She spoke over me, told me when I would come in for my appointment before I could even tell her my availability, and then when I asserted myself and informed her I was the customer and I would give her my availability and then she could suggest available appointment times, she got even more brazen, rude and unprofessional. I promptly asked to speak with her supervisor and she forwarded the call to one of her co-worker and NOT her supervisor. I explained to the rude and unprofessional young woman's co-worker that I would visiting the office the following day to speak with a supervisor to inform the person of the way their employee spoke to a prospective patrons and I would also be writing about my experience here on Yelp. Later that afternoon and woman stating she was the Office Manager at Dental Dreams on Minnesota Avenue, left me a voicemail message requesting I call her back. When I called her back a few hours later, the phone just rang --no answering machine or anything. So I called back the following day (Wednesday, April 27), and I was informed that the Office Manager was out of the office and would return the following day and that they would relay the message that I returned her earlier call. When I asked if they could patch me through to the Office Manager's voicemail, the woman replied that they did not have voicemail service. To make a long story shorter, I never heard back from the Office Manager. I would HIGHLY recommend that if you are thinking about patronizing the Dental Dreams located on Minnesota Avenue, you choose differently. The receptionist and/or person who is responsible for taking incoming calls and scheduling appointments for a business is usually a glimpse into what your future experience with said business will consist of. And as I have documented in this review, if the dental service at Dental Dreams of Minnesota Avenue is remotely like what I experience two days ago when I tried to make an appointment, I will pass, and I strongly suggest that you do as well.
