Woke up in some pain so made an emergency call around 11am to the Point Loma location and they gave me an appointment for 2pm which I later changed to 3pm. I filled out the paperwork ahead of time and was able to walk right in and see the dentist. There was about 8 people in the waiting room and all of them seemed to be seen pretty quickly. I know they have 8 dentist chairs and possibly more because there was a back area that I didn't see. I quickly got an xray and was seated in the one of the chairs which is more cubical style. So don't expect a ton of privacy. Nurse / assistant came in and got me settled and then the doctor came in and read my teeth charts. After a few tests they diagnosed me and set me up with another appointment in 10 days. I finalized what I needed with the front desk who was super chill. I was skeptical on the quality of service when I saw it had multiple locations but honestly it really went great - at least how they treated me. Now I have to come back and finish my services but I feel much more confident in them. read more

Former patient of 5 years here to tell you they do low quality work. This is an office that thrives on volume I'll preface by saying this office may be good for kids, people who have a fear of going to the dentist, or people who don't require dental work such as fillings, root canals & other procedures. I've always had a good experience with their dental hygenists Dr. Casey is knowledgeable, patient & good at making you feel comfortable. He performed my root canal surgery without issue. His office was able to squeeze me in for an emergency filling a few hours before I had a flight for a week long cruise. I blindly trusted the services provided & office after that. I overlooked low quality fillings that were done by other dentists who no longer work there and other work that was rushed. It wasn't until I moved away and went to other dentists that I truly realized how low quality the work was. Most of what was done at Dental Express has needed to be re-done elsewhere. I'm also frustrated having called their office between 2022-2023 to obtain my past dental records/files from the year prior, and having them completely ghost me If you are prone to cavities or require crowns/root canals, I would strongly recommend finding another dentist. Terrible.. bordering on NEGLIGENT. I had a front tooth chip so badly it was tearing up the inside of my lips, causing bad sores. Next day I called and explained it. It was an emergency of sorts. A dental emergency for sure. I went in and begged them to file it down, showed them the torn up inside of my mouth. They told me to make an appointment..in 2 weeks!!! Since moving to San Diego, I found that Dental Express accepted my insurance and offered easy appointment scheduling, so I decided to have my chipped tooth repaired there. Unfortunately, my experience was disappointing. The dentist initially worked without an assistant, which led to water spraying up my nose during the procedure. Even after the assistant joined, I was still getting sprayed with water throughout. The process felt disorganized, and I did not feel confident in the care I was receiving. They don't even deserve one star. After waiting with my son for an hour and a half (even though we had an appointment) and then another half hour until the dentist checked the X-rays. The dentist misdiagnosed the case, and tried to charge us a very high amount for treatment that was not necessary (over $3500). The next day we took the x-rays to another doctor who said it was something minor at a cost of less than $200. Okay. Let's start with the obvious. THERE'S A TRAIN!!! Every piece of grown man child in me just melted with awe and fascination. I'm here to have a tooth pulled and it's not gonna be pretty. The train helps. I walked into this office expecting to see kiddy toys all over the place because there is a big train outside adverting kid friendly. I was under the impression that it was predisposed to kids. But my tooth is killing me and they're open on Fridays. I walk in to find a very adult waiting room. Not just adult, but for fancy. I thought to myself... "My insurance is barely gonna scratch the surface of what this is gonna cost." The girls at reception were very nice and professional. The music is 80's pop so another fine feature. I'm all about the 80's. My dentist is Asian. I don't bring that up because of anything racial like fewer Asian dentists or surprises to see an Asian dentist or because Asians are better or anything like that. I bring it up because he was hot. He took my concerns about the initial invasion into my mouth with a needle to heart and did his best to limit the pain. That shit still hurt though. Unless I'm already unconscious, a needle in my gums is still the worst. The extraction didn't hurt, but it was still traumatic, The cracking, the pressure,the.. the... the whole process.... just not my favorite thing to have done. Then he starts giving me instructions on after care while in still in shock from the nightmarish event I just went through.... Now he did as great if a job as could be done. The experience was as mild as any dentist could make it. Unfortunately that did nothing for the trauma I put myself through waiting for the moment where the numbing shots stopped working. After moving to San Diego I took some time to find a new dentist. Eventually I took the recommendation of my husband. He said this place was quick and efficient. I do agree. My cap had fallen out so I was able to call and make an appt quickly. Filled out appropriate paperwork via iPad. I got my first set of X-rays via the machine that drops down over your head and rotated. I had only seen this before in Singapore so pretty cool. Then I had to do a few specific ones in the chair. Not as horrible as I remember. I did not choke to death nor drool too much and I think that has a lot to do with how you are being handled. Everyone working here is very friendly. I got a cleaning and my cap re-glued in good time. The chair was comfy. They gave me the tinted safety glasses. Price was great with my insurance. I'm very unhappy with the work that was done on me this week. I hate to say it because the staff were nice people, but it's true. I haven't been to the dentist in a very long time, which is my mistake. So when I finally went they told me after examination that I will need 6 fillings. I trusted them and agreed and set up 2 appointments to get them all worked on. My first appointment was on Wednesday 6/11. I waited about an hour after my appointment time to actually get any sort of work done. I was okay with that thinking the dentist was probably very busy. He got 3 of my teeth done in like 30 minutes. I thought that was great and efficient and went on my merry way. Second appointment was yesterday 6/13. Same thing waited about an hour after my appointment time to be worked on. Again didn't complain, figured maybe I just got unlucky and maybe it was a busy day again, no biggie I'll just play games on my phone while I wait. Again as soon as the procedure started the dentist was done oddly fast. I thought to myself that it almost seemed rushed, but I tried to just trust that maybe the dentist was very efficient. I noticed something was wrong almost right after the numbing shots wore off. 2 of my cavities were without a doubt not filled completely. It hurts. Upon further personal inspection I noticed that one of my molars that previously had a small crack has doubled in size and there is now a second separate crack in it that was not there before my visit on Friday. I'm not sure why that cracked tooth wasn't addressed to begin with. Not only that but I'm almost 100% certain I have 3 other cavities that weren't even noticed talked about or filled. My frustration as you can imagine is overwhelming. How can I see all these problems in my own mirror with my phone flash light, but a dentist who went to school for this cannot? Now I am questioning everything that was worked on in my mouth at this office. I have a very busy schedule for a whole month starting next week and don't know when I will be able to go to another dental office to get these issues resolved. read more

So my dentist retired and I was back out in the world search for "the one". The two most important doctors to me are 1. my dentist 2. my gynecologist. Both are responsible for working with very important parts of my body. Like many, I searched and searched and searched some more. I decided finally to google dentist open Saturdays and called around. The universe must have aligned the stars in my favor as I had the wonderful opportunity of speaking with Whitney, office manager. I had a traumatic accident as a child. I explained my fear and what was currently recommended. I learned during the call that the dentists here do it all! There was no need to go to a root canal specialist, the doctors do this in house! Whitney's confidence in the team of doctors is what sold me.I came in on a Saturday for a cleaning and met the most wonderful staff and Dr. Davis. Dr. Davis took a look and told me I needed less work then prior dentists and no root canals were needed. The honesty, integrity and old school bedside manner and the amazing staff! Recently I visited at least 4 dentists and specialists after tremendous pain that I ended up being hospitalized for. None of the dentists/oral surgeons wanted to treat me. I was finally referred to Dental Express in Santee. Dr. Jerry Hernandez is wonderful. I need 5 extractions including a wisdom tooth, a complex root canal, bone grafts, crowns and partial implants and Dr. Hernandez can do All of it! He and his staff are kind, listen to all of your concerns and they're extremely professional. Their office is conveniently located, beautiful and clean and they have all state of the art equipment. my advice get a pain medication plan before surgery with this dentist office! and make sure if your getting ur wisdom teeth pulled by this place they give cause the don't do it often it seems that you get like 8 days at least of pain meds.... ugh it's just about christmas eve, had all 4 wisdom teeth removed and 2 root canals 5 days ago and apparently it's not uncommon for someone to encounter more pain on day 3-6! it's so strange how these doctors didn't seem to know this...but the messed up thing is i don't have anything for the pain. i get this opioid epidemic thing is serious but so it's getting these procedures and the fact is i haven't been properly taken care of and it's very sad this happening over the holiday and i can't even get a hold of them. just wish the doctor would have the experience to realize he put me in a horrible position. so messed up that i have to go to the emergency room after getting a surgery and not being taken care of afterwards! seriously this is really messed up that this even is happening in america! first they throw pills at us for no reason and now we can't get them at all!! and when i asked the office for something they said that i should go to a pain management doctor if i needed help! and that was 2 days after the surgery! it's insane doctors/dentists can even act like this but honestly this place doesn't usually remove wisdom teeth i bet, so if it was me i would go to a a proper dentist that will manage the pain afterwards read more
