I've been going here since I was a teenager, and they are the best! Dr. Holly is the best!! Surprisingly I am still afraid of the dentist (fillings make me really uncomfortable) I let the guy working on me know that and he did such an amazing job of calming me down and actually over come my fear (almost) of fillings!! I'd like to preface this by saying that I've been to quite a few dentists, and most recently saw one who proposed a $30k treatment plan (invisalign, veneers, 8 inlays because standard fillings won't suffice, a new crown, botox injections in my jaw....). Fast forward to today when I went for a second opinion consultation with Dr. Holly after a glowing recommendation from friends. Turns out I only have 2 cavities which can be filled in a traditional manner. It will cost me a couple hundred out of pocket versus a minimum of $10k from the other dentist to address the cavities, 6 of which don't actually exist. Dr. Holly did additional x-rays to be 100% sure he didn't miss anything and was able to confirm the other dentist was completely scamming me. If you are looking for a dentist with a long-standing practice, integrity, and an exceptional staff, please visit this office. Take it from someone who's been through the grinder! Ed is always SUPER kind and easy going. Sent in by a Nazarene connection. Love his attitude and the way he will make you feel calm and relaxed. My crown was 2k and broke 13 months later. I went to TJ and got it done for $500 from a reputable dentist. Timeline is important here because I have: Eight years and that porcelain crown hasn't had a problem. Great Staff!!!! My family and I have been patients of Ed Holly's for decades! I have never once been able to finish even 1/2 of a magazine article while in the waiting room! I wish they could bottle their precision and customer service with respect to tending to patients almost as quickly as they arrive. I have never laughed in a doctor's office as much as I have in Ed's chair, always up for a good or great conversation, or even a lively debate on taboo subjects such as religion and politics. I'm not sure we've ever completely agreed on either, but those exchanges have been some of the most pure and true i've ever had on those two topics. If you serve it up, Ed will volley it back with humor and anecdotes to spare. He's the best at those horrible numbing needle shots in the mouth! how can ANYONE be the best at THAT?! He listens...I do my research ahead of time, tell him what i want for myself and my children when there are options, and even if he doesn't completely agree, he defers with respect. His support staff, while bringing their own unique gifts and talents to the practice, work hard and each tries their best to accommodate any need one might have, whether it be emotional, psychological or physical. This office has always had the top-of-the-line, cutting edge equipment, and we appreciate Ed's interest in staying current. He is passionate about what he does, but more than that, he is passionate about people, he cares and expects to maintain an office that leaves people with that truth. Dr. Holly and his hygienists are as good as it gets for a dental office. I've been going for years and am always impressed. While I can't say I'll ever love having dental work done, I don't mind it much any more. I also appreciated how conservative in treatment Dr. Holly is. Aboout 15 years ago, I went to one dentist in San Diego who decided I had 5 cavities that needed filling, despite the fact that I hadn't had any before or since. My sole problem is with billing. My wife went in for an exam and that went fine. When she was asked if she need a service, she declined and was billed any way. When she called back to the office to sort it out, she was told that oh well it was what i was told to do and it has already been billed. I have tried to contact the office and to no avail. The woman in charge of billing just snubbed it off and did not try to help out with resolving the issue with my wife. Update: they took awesome care of us. We moved to San Diego in 1997 and Dr. Ed Holly was recommended to us by our neighbor, a prominent surgeon. Whole family has been going to Dr. Holly now for 22 years and we are huge fans. Our son, now 32, was about 12 when he smashed his face with the handle of a pogo stick, blood everywhere, leaving his front four teeth at bad angles. Called Dr. Holly and he said bring him right in immediately and his staff moved scheduled appointments to allow him to save the teeth. Just one example of his care and concern. Best dentist I've EVER been to, and I'm very picky about dentists. He does crowns right in his office (instead of sending them out to have a lab make them) with this special high-tech machine. They're much better than the ones the labs turn out. Mine fit perfectly, straight out of the machine, and didn't even need to be adjusted at all. Looks like a real tooth. You can't tell its a crown by looking at it, and I can't tell the difference in it and any of my other teeth, except that it looks perfect. The hygenists are all great too read more

I have been going to Dr. Holly since 1988. He is the absolute best dentist hands-down. He tells you the truth about what needs to be done. He's had the same office staff this entire time and that says a lot. The office is immaculate and Dr. Holly has a way of making it relatively painless. They truly care about their patients. My husband was terrified of going to the dentist...had put it off for years. He now goes in regularly to see Dr. Holly. He still doesn't love it, but he feels comfortable with Dr. Holly and his assistant Sharon. I have many friends who also see Dr. Holly. There is nothing that I like better than efficiency. I went in for a scheduled tooth cleaning. The dentist discovered two cavities. Rather than force me to make another appointment and miss another day of work, they took care of it right then. I felt minimal pain. It took about an hour, and then I was finished. I've now been back to Dr. Holly for many other procedures, and I am still absolutely thrilled with how great he's been! He's very chill & hilarious, and he makes dental work (which I've always dreaded) something I actually don't mind anymore! Honestly, I've never been this happy with a dentist, and I've seen LOTS of dentists in my life. If you live in San Diego, you should be seeing Dr. Holly for all your dental needs. I can't imagine that there is a better option for dental work out there. I came to Dr. Holly's office after having a few bad experiences with other dentists in the San Diego area. I was very pleased that the office was able to take me as a new patient and on fairly short notice for a bad tooth ache. Immediately after getting to the office I felt very welcomed and cared for. The very friendly and funny staff at this office was top notch in every way and was readily available for any questions or concerns that I had. Meeting Dr. Holly was a pleasure as he was very friendly, funny and attentive to my issue. After my assessment, it was determined that I needed a root canal. Everything Dr. Holly and his staff did was explained in detail and I wasn't left clueless about anything being done to my teeth. The entire experience felt like first class and I was even given a set of headphones with music to help drown out the sound of the tooth drill. Throughout the entire procedure they made every effort to ensure that I was in good shape and not in pain. In conclusion, I would highly recommend this dentist to anyone in need of quality care. I felt more like family than a patient or customer during my visit. Dr. Holly and his staff are obviously very passionate about what they do. I don't particularly like dentists (who does?), and had an absolutely terrible experience with a DHMO dentist last summer (tried to charge me $2,800 for cavities that didn't exist!). I finally bit the bullet (no pun intended) and decided to try again, and upon many recommendations made an appointment with Dr. Holly. It was amazing! The staff was friendly, the facilities were clean, the service was professional, and he was everything I was hoping to find in a dentist - someone who doesn't just stick a piece of metal in your mouth and charge you money for it, but who actually explains what's going on, and doesn't gratuitously cause pain. I moved my parents down from the SF Bay Area and they were having difficulty finding a good dentist. They were referred to Dr. Holly after my dad has been suffering from a toothache which other doctors could not remedy. Dr. Holly did a complicated root canal on another tooth which he determined could be the problem and sure enough after the root canal my dad is pain free. Dr. Holly is amazing! His work is gentle, he is patient with those of us who are nervous about dental work, and he always thoroughly explains what he is doing and why. After several years with him I made the mistake of switching to a dentist in East County who was in my insurance network, thinking I would save money. When the new crown fell off (after only 3 months!) and the bites weren't right, Dr. Holly took care of me right away and never blamed me for temporarily choosing a different dentist. dr. holly is an absolute genius! i just had a root canal 2 hours ago and i can say it was almost pleasant. not entirely pleasant, it was a root canal after all. but he is patient and gentle, and truly a master of his craft. i have spent many years as a patient of dr. holly, as well as three generations of my family. recently, my insurance changed and he is no longer covered under my plan. but when i needed someone who would do outstanding and kind work, i went back to him and paid out of pocket. it was worth every penny! read more

I have been going to Dr Holly for well over 10 years. I moved to Washington State for about 3 years and had to use other dentists. They even commented on the nice work he did on several of my teeth. No other dentist even comes close to his skills and his personality is amazing! He is the ONLY dentist I feel completely comfortable using. I have been trying to convince him that he can't retire until I am gone from this earth, as he is irreplaceable! What a blessing!
