This morning I has another appointment, I had a follow up & was getting 4 cavities filled. This time I took the prescribed anxiety med they gave me before my procedure. Aside from the traumatic dental incident I experienced as a child, my interaction with Dental On Central on 9-2-21 was perhaps the worst experience I've encountered. The manner in which I was spoken to by "Practice Administrator" Hollie was belittling, rude, uncompassionate, and a violation of my privacy. They not only chose to wait until the time of my appointment to discuss a change in billing, but she also chose to have a discussion regarding my personal health information in front of everyone in the front lobby as opposed to discussing my personal healthcare information (billing, treatment, etc) in a confidential setting. It was a horrific experience to withstand, but for an "administrator" to chose to treat a patient with such lack of professionalism in the presence of others was unconscionable.  She continues to avoid my request to review my previous bill, which they allege they billed for a higher rate than what had been agreed to in the medical billing record. Sadly, this is the lack of respect that was shown to a patient of 20yrs, so I can't imagine how they treat new patients. Dr. Herro was always very kind. I can't believe he is allowing the people he employs to treat his patients in such a disrespectful and uncompassionate manner. I highly discourage anyone from considering this office for dental treatment as long as the current administration is still employed. Giving a one star rating is more than they deserve. read more

I just moved to Phoenix and picked this dentist based off of their website and the fact they take my insurance. I needed a root canal and crown but had delayed it due to the move. I was able to get seen pretty quick and all of the staff were really helpful and friendly. I was really nervous during the root canal but Dr. Twine and his assistant (I believe her name was Coco) kept me calm and I didn't feel any pain. After the root canal I had a temporary crown put in by Dr. J that cracked. I called to let the doctor know the problem and I was able to get my appointment for the permanent crown pushed up by two weeks and was even seen on a Saturday. Before they did any work, they went over the price I would pay after insurance, which was similar to the price my previous dentist had quoted me and seemed mostly reasonable. As of today I've received all of my insurance statements and there hasn't been any surprises. I highly recommend read more

I have been with Dr. Herro's office since 2004 and have wholly appreciated the experience I have had with them. 4 years ago my mother bought me a Groupon and I had my teeth whitened. Recently I had a major deep cleaning (I didn't have dental insurance for 4 years) and my tech (Jessie, a dude) has been fabulous and incredibly accommodating. My family even overpaid for services and they reimburse us with a credit on my account. It was awesome to see. Dental on Central made me an emergency appointment after my filling fell out! Seeing me with-in a week (which is great for central phoenix offices!). The office staff emailed me all my paperwork which I thought was great! Nothing worse than filling out paperwork on your first day. I was seen within 1/2 hour of my appointment time and was greated by the hygienist. Upon entering the room I was offered water and the option to watch TV. Seeing as I don't get to watch daytime TV I immediately opted for Maury. Both my hygienist and Dr. Herro watched Maury with me while my cavity was filled. Being a doctor or a dentist considers to be one of the most humane professions man can acquire, it's where you can help cure and relieve the pain of another human being. I called this office on Thursday 08/08/2019 around noon due to an emergency root canal, as I was experiencing a lot of pain which escalated very quickly in the last couple of days. I told the lady on the phone that I was seen earlier today by my general dentist and he recommended a root canal treatment. She agreed to schedule me at 03:30 PM and told me I have to be there at that time so they will have enough time to do the treatment. Also, she said there are no promises that I will be treated today in case of any reason that prevents them from giving me the treatment. Which I would think an acute infection or some other reason that will truly prevent the doctor from putting stop to my agony. At 03:30 I went there, finished the paperwork and met Dr. Twine who told me that I need a root canal treatment, then I was told to go to the front so they can go over the treatment plan with me. After agreeing on the treatment plan and getting ready to be treated, the dental assistant told me the next available appointment is on the next Thursday. " Are you kidding me?" I specifically told you when I called you because I need the treatment to be done today. She said let me see if the Doctor will agree to treat you today. seconds later she came back and told me that Dr. Twine and his assistant left for the day, and the reason for not working on my tooth today because that I require an hour and a half of work, and it's too late to start with the treatment at this time. So it wasn't because a true medical reason that will prevent the treatment such as an infection, it's simply because they don't want to stay late for extra time. which I would respect if they told me from the start that the chances of me getting treated are very slim so I could have kept my search for an endodontist who will agree to treat me today. As I'm writing this review I'm still experiencing 08/10 throbbing pain in the left side of my face. read more

If you enjoy a chaotic waiting room experience, then this place is for you. I arrived early for my appointment, and after half-hour after my appointment was supposed to begin, I went up to the receptionist who just looked dumbfounded at me. During my wait I was treated to loud music coming over the speaker alongside even louder children's TV show, with a little drilling sounds in the background. It surely didn't put me in a relaxed mood to see the dentist. There was no apology for being late -- or forgetting about me, which I believe is what happened. Last Friday, Jan 26, 2018 I went to Dental on Central to get a catscan to see if I have enough bone for an implant. I know most people don't like going to the dentist and I was only having a scan however I have to comment on the great staff. From the front desk to the woman who did the scan they were so great. I was told I might have to wait a few minutes since they were short staffed (it was Friday). Then the woman who was going to do the scan came out to apologize for the wait but she would be with me in a few minutes. During the scan she was very cheerful and gave me great instructions on how to hold my head etc. Actually I only waited 5 minutes. They are great. read more

I understand that my review is old but it is because we are still dealing with a horrible job that was completed on my daughter's teeth. In 2017, Dr. Maropis recommended veneers for my daughter as she had a temporary filling for a broken front tooth. He told us that it would look better for the four front teeth to be done. We agreed. The whole process was a nightmare. The temps would fall off all the time and when the permanents were placed- they too have fallen off at least 8 times. The blame game was the best part of this whole mess. My daughter was to blame; she ate something or did something to make them pop off. I know a lot of people with veneers that have not had these problems. I finally took her to a new dentist and they said it was a crap job. So bad that food particles got behind them and we have been battling that. We are now in the process of capping one tooth because my daughters anxiety of having a front tooth pop off during work or school is just too much. I wasn't going to write the review but she is in a dentist chair right now crying over the mess this guy did to her teeth. Best part is he isn't even at Dental on Central anymore. A 2500 job is turning out to be double or more. You just shouldn't have to chase providers for good and guaranteed work. I would never go back or recommend them to anyone for anything. read more

I went to another dentist and found out that a piece of my wisdom tooth was left in my mouth after they took X-rays for another procedure. The way the gum healed I was unaware that part of it was still intact. I had at least 3 X-rays after the extractions and not a word was said about the tooth still in my mouth. I contacted the Tatum and bell office and was told I would be put in touch with an oral surgeon at the central office to correct the mistake. This was FOUR WEEKS AGO. I have still not heard anything back. I don't feel that it is my responsibility to forward up and find this to be extremely unprofessional. I have since had the tooth removed and it was completely rotted. Now I have had to come out of pocket twice to pull the same tooth. I spent over $2,500 with this office to perform various procedures and am extremely dissatisfied and disappointed. read more

This office is worse than the Karen's I deal with as a barista. I have literally been trying to get an appointment for my wisdom teeth to be removed for OVER A YEAR! My mom & I have been calling and always get sent to voicemail. When they do actually answer, they tell me that they can't schedule because the person who does that specific dentists book isn't there and to call back another time or that they'll give us a call (they never do). The first appointment, they literally scheduled me on a SUNDAY, the second one I didn't know it was just a consult. My error on that one but what really pissed my off was that I went to that appointment by myself as an 18yo knowing damn well what I needed for my own body. I waited in the room for about 20 mins, the assistant and the dentist were looking at a year old x-ray from when I had a cavity (THAT THEY REMOVED AND KEPT AS A TROPHY) and had the audacity to start telling me that I should've brought my mom, needed to schedule an appointment for that cavity, get a referral from my ortho (WHICH HAS BEEN SENT ALREADY!!!) and made me get a new $50 x-ray. I have braces so I should've been at the next stage of my journey over six months ago. My orthodontist has contacted them with a referral twice now. The way they handle their office is embarrassing. I just want my wisdom teeth out. It's not that deep ANSWER THE PHONES WITH PROFESSIONALISM INSTEAD OF SENDING THEM TO VOICEMAIL. read more

I had an appointment to have my teeth cleaned at Dental on Central this morning. The actual dental clinic (including waiting room and examination rooms) is very comfortable and welcoming - and the staff at the front desk are helpful. Michelle conducted the actual cleaning. She is great! She is super gentle when measuring your gums and during the cleaning. She is also incredibly nice and has good conversation which makes the cleaning go by even faster. There are televisions in the examination rooms. This is the first clinic in which I have seen that in the rooms. I could catch up on Good Morning America - that's a plus. Dr. Jejna performed the final check. He is good and thorough in his job, and he is also very nice. Firstly, this dentist has changed locations, he's now on the other side of the street. We went here for my husband who has Congestive Heart Failure. He needed clearance from a dentist saying he had no infections, that way he can be listed. This dentist refused to check and tell my husband if he had or did not have any infections. He insisted that in order to do that my husband had to pay for all kinds of other things. He claimed he needed a crown, deep cleaning and redo his fillings before he can tell him if he had infections or not. Yeah, I know sounds ridiculous. If you did not catch the ridiculousness, Dr. Herro wanted money from my husband for work that he did not need done. Totally disregarding the fact that this man needs a new heart. Fast forward to six months later. Hubby goes back again and this time he tells him he needs to have his wisdom tooth pulled out (he had those pulled out in the Navy) and new things were added to the list. Dr. Herro clearly trying to get more money out of my husband. Here's where it gets interesting. My husband's insurance (AHCCS) agreed to cover the expenses since they understand the urgency of a man needing a heart transplant. They only needed the Dr. to give authorization to say my husband NEEDS this work done. Dr. Herro failed to cooperate with my husband's case worker. Refused, by his action of negligence to sign the authorization. Finally my husband grew tiresome of him not caring and ignoring him and the case worker and requested they find a new dentist. His case worker called the dental office on Indian and 19th Ave called Phoenix Dental Center. They got the authorization and scheduled my husband for the next day and it was done that quick. read more

If you are afraid of the dentist but realize you need to find a way to go this is the place to go. All of the doctors, techs and staff were gentle and kind and never made me feel bad for being afraid or for the state of my teeth they just did everything they could to help me. They offer options when it comes to making you comfortable from simple laughing gas to full sedation. (I needed IV sedation to even think of getting through the work I needed and they were gentle and kind in setting everything up.) It's only a day after I had a massive amount of work done and I have very little pain and no facial bruising, despite having a surgical extraction, root canal and other work all done at once so that I wouldn't have to have multiple sedated visits. I also noticed they work with children and those with intellectual disabilities and they seemed just as kind and caring interacting with those patients as they were with me. read more

Eduardo was absolutely wonderful - I had a bad experience at my last dentist and this was like night and day! I have already recommended Dental on Central to a couple people as a result of the great experience I had. Staff was super friendly, Eduardo was professional and gentle - he didn't have a vendetta against my gums which was awesome! Dr. Herro was a quick hi and bye but I'm fine with that since my teeth didnt have major issues. DON'T GO TO DENTAL ON CENTRAL! My daughter needs a root canal. We were referred by our dentist to see an endodontist at dental on central. After calling for an appointment they learned what insurance we had and said they couldn't see us for several months. When we told them we were referred by our brother in law who is a dentist, they gave us an earlier appointment that was only a month and a half away. After coming in for her appointment they said that they wouldn't do the root canal that day, we needed to schedule another appointment. But of course they didn't have any appointments available for another month. So after waiting two and a half months to have a Root canal done on an 11 year old with an infected tooth, the day of her appointment finally arrived. Only before we were even called back to see the Dr. The office manager called us into her office and said that my daughter needed to be sedated because they wouldn't be able to get her numb. When I explained that my brother in law was able to get her numb, and already removed most of the nerve, the office manager said "I don't think this is going to work" so I said "okay, may I please speak with the Doctor? When the Doctor came in he said that she needed to be sedated because she couldn't open her mouth wide enough. But he had never seen my daughter, or checked to see how wide she could open her mouth. How is sedating someone going to enable them to open her mouth further? unless they dislocate her jaw! They Clearly didn't like our insurance so they kept pushing our appointment back, and by throwing in an anesthesiologist they could make more money. I'm not willing to put my daughter to sleep under sedation unnecessarily so that they can make more money. This practice of putting someone on sedation when they don't need to be is illegal (insurance fraud) and should be reported to the dental board. My wife is a dental assistant and is well aware of how these cons are scamming the insurance. read more

DOC has treated my daughter terribly. We simply tried to reschedule an appointment, due to the fact that she stayed late after school in tutoring, and a receptionist named Stefanie literally told her that 'she is not able to reschedule'. Later, after we called back, and demanded to know what dentist was refusing to reschedule, the connection was "lost". Eventually, she back-pedaled and called back and left a voicemail stating she had scheduled an appointment on my daughters' behalf.
