So when I got back to Austin, my wife booked appointments for both of us at the Swish office we have visited in the past couple of years. I shared with Swish I was told to see a dentist soon. Well trust me, that the worse thing I could have said. Now all of a sudden everyone jumps into action mode, taking all new x rays and cbct (which is a fancy X-ray). I looked it up. Their findings were alarming. I now needed 3 crowns and the fillings that go under the crowns plus 3 additional fillings. Why didn't the other dentist in NY say anything to me about all these problems? On my wife, she suddenly needs a deep cleaning and possibly some fillings redone because they are leaching.(their words). They tried to force us to schedule immediately and wanted to start my wife's deep cleaning that very day. We told them that we both had to return to work but then we were told they would not have another appointment available for several weeks to do a deep cleaning. We left there unsettled and I contacted a friend of mine who has a brother that is a dentist. I sent him a copy of the X-rays and he said he couldn't see anything other than the 1 tooth that needed just a filling. My wife went to another dentist and was told she only needed a basic filling. Who are these people? Why would they attempt to do such aggressive dentistry if it doesn't exist?

Which is amazing! I also recently referred my husband to pop over here after he had such severe mouth/jaw pain after Thanksgiving and had to go to urgent care and turns out he had a tooth abscess. He was able to get seen immediately and they were able to accommodate him as a new patient! That's unheard of! My husband's previous dentist he chose, Buttercup Dental, down the street (which we both got confused with for half the last year thinking we had been going to the same dental office ha!) didn't seem to care/ wasn't able to make the scheduling happen until later in the week. I also was able to get my fixed retainer rebonded, in and out, and at a practical price instead of having to go to an orthodontist who would've charged ridiculous prices. The assistant was kind and professional, but the dentist was not particularly friendly. My partial was sent back and forth to the lab multiple times, yet the person making the adjustments didn't see how it fit in my mouth until the end, which made the process feel ineffective. As the appointment went on, I felt increasingly rushed, and the focus seemed to shift toward replacing the partial rather than fixing it. I ultimately settled for a fit that was still unsatisfactory because I didn't feel comfortable asking for further adjustments. Cleanliness was also a concern. After disinfecting my partial, the assistant repeatedly handled it with bare hands before giving it back to me to place in my mouth, which felt unsanitary. Overall, I left feeling disappointed and uncomfortable. While the assistant was pleasant, the dentist's demeanor, the rushed experience, and the handling of my dental appliance mean I won't be returning. My rating: 2 out of 5 and that is being generous.

I was in the chair for 3 hours while the doctor kept leaving me to work on other patients. She did this 3-4 times. When she got to the build up for the temporary crown, some of the anistetic had worn off and she had to give me another shot to deaden it. When she got to the build up, she seemed to be in a huge hurry to get done. Needless to say, I was not happy. Although I am not the type of person to complain and make others feel bad, she didn't give me the feeling of giving me the attention necessary to finish in a timely manner. I'm afraid that I made a mistake in choosing this practice for my dental needs. UPDATE: I wanted to update my review. I received my crown on my tooth and, today, I felt very much like a valued patient. The Dr and her staff really made me feel valued and they showed me how kind and professional that they are. I wanted others to know that my issue may have been a one time issue. Nevertheless, I was very appreciative of them.
