4.5 stars. So far I have been impressed with this office and its staff. We moved from SF and I needed to find a great vet office with experienced staff and a responsive, caring attitude. I did a lot of research, read reviews, and researched the doctors to make sure we landed in a good place. It's a smaller practice with experienced doctors and people that love animals, which is what I was looking for. So far we have an initial visit, a yearly physical and labs, and teeth cleaning. I found everyone to be very friendly, attentive, and spending time with you on visits. Dr. Casey is very friendly, knowledgeable, and on top of things. I got a call the next day about my dog's lab results. When we did her teeth cleaning I had several calls, one before the procedure, one after, then as she was waking up, and even a txt from a tech taking care of her. My fur baby is our family, so I need to know she will be well treated and taken care of, and as she is getting older, a great vet is that important. Addressing costs, this is where they lost a star. One, I expected things to be less expensive in Denver compared to SF, but this is not the case. Labs are more expensive here, teeth cleaning as well, and medications. While I didn't go shopping around for what labs and procedures cost in other places, compared to SF it's higher, not sure if this is because it's a small office or there is a markup. Otherwise, we are very happy with them and would recommend this place. read more

Finding a vet in Denver has been challenging, but luckily my friend recommended this place to me. I wish I would have found them sooner! My 15-year old Peekapoo, Lucy, was diagnosed with heart failure and a brain tumor...during her last few months, Denver Animal Hospital not only accommodated me but they were so sensitive and understanding. I see Dr. Rojas but all of the vets there are wonderful. As someone who ran their own dog business and is very familiar with vet care, I cannot recommend them enough. Exceptional service!!!! I wish I could give these folks 10 stars all day.. Dr. Casey and Tech Lena Heard along with the entire staff helped us with the hard decision too put down our beloved 13yo GSP. We originally had seen them for what we thought was an abscessed tooth but was later informed when our pup was sedated that she had an inoperable tumor pushing against her tracheae. Our family was given options and care plans but we decided to end our pups suffering. In just conversing with Dr. Casey and Lena you could see they were generally upset with the situation and they both were so caring and compassionate with our pup and family especially our young children. The care and attention we received has made this our permanent vet for all our pets. Today a few weeks after this whole situation we received a card in the mail signed by the whole staff. My wife and I both broke down and cried as we read the comments. If you are looking for exceptional care for your pet with the most compassionate people in the veterinarian field this is the place for you! Exceptional service and dedication (not to mention almost a third of what we were quoted for dental procedures that included sedation) is what you'll find at this establishment. Dr. Mich at Denver Animal Hospital is the best! When we found out our dog Otis needed urgent dental surgery, we needed to call around and find a vet who could do it quickly. We are SO LUCKY we landed with Dr. Mich. She was kind when I spoke with her about our concerns. Otis is a distemper survivor and we were worried about dangers of anesthesia on his little neurological system. She took the time to listen to my concerns, consult with specialist, call me back directly and work through it together. She did an excellent job on the surgery (he needed to have 14 teeth removed!) and made the follow-up calls herself. She is incredibly empathetic and kind and I never feel rushed when talking with her. She takes our questions seriously for our special needs pup. We have a super nervous pup who does not do well with strangers (especially vets). DAH came highly recommended by a friend, so we signed up for an appointment. Hands down this was the best experience we've ever had at a vet's office. They took extra time to earn our dog's trust prior to the actual exam and were super educational and nice. We all felt really cared for. Our dog even played with a little toy they had in the room, which never happens in a vet's office. We were in there for a joint/ligament issue for one of her legs, and we were relieved to hear about being able to try alternative treatments to surgery. just now NEW What a rip off this place is. First off, I went to my first appointment and was told by the doctor that she recommends a expensive blood panel because she has concerns that my cat has liver issues. She got me freaked out and scared to death. I ended up paying all the money, and then I was told to bring a stool sample. I brought a stool sample within the next couple days and then I was told by the front staff that it needs to be same-day stool sample which they never told me before. I called today to see if I could go and drop a stool sample off and they said that I will have to pay again because it was not within the time period that no one told me about. And by the way, my cats results came back fine, so it seems like the doctor was fishing for money. Except she recommended that my cat get a cardio gram for an additional $500 . This place is a rip off and very shady. It's sad that there are places like this, that pray on innocent animals and their owners. Make sure you get a second opinion. read more

Dr. Dan has taken care of all of our cats over the past 20 years (Hobart, Figaro, Mandy, Gyzmo, Guinness, Onyx and Gibson). He's a great vet and a caring person. His Vet Tech Karissa is friendly, knowledgeable and a great addition to DAH. We recently had to have our seventeen year old male cat, Gyzmo put to sleep as he was dieing of renal disease. Both Dr. Dan and Karissa showed so much compassion and support during a very difficult time. It's a small practice which I especially like as you rarely if ever have to wait and there are usually not a lot of other animals in the waiting area. Located by Wash Park, Denver Animal Hospital has been my family's vet since I was a kid. Dr. Berman took wonderful care of our family dogs, and then my own fur babies when I became an adult. When he decided to retire, at first I wasn't sure if I would continue to go there but as soon as I met Dr. Tadros I was immediately reassured. She is incredibly sweet, gentle, patient, and smart. She diagnosed both my dogs Pookie and Nico with mitral valve disease very early on, which I appreciated so that I could begin interventions immediately to prolong their lives. She has been wonderful and supportive when I received bad news that Pookie's heart disease had become severe/fatal and also when Carly was diagnosed with cancer. She was unbelievably kind when I lost both of them within 3 months of each other -- an incredibly devastating experience. I put my faith and trust in her to care for the most important things in my life -- my kiddos! I also want to say that I've interacted with the other vets at various times over the past 6 years and they are all great. Women supporting women! TOTAL SCAM I found similar reviews to this about Denver Animal Hospital and am surprised to see this establishment has more than a 2 star review overall. We took our 1 year old dog in to update shots and was told they found a heart murmur while evaluating him. Many vets have a reputation of making an issue to a loving owner seem bigger than it is knowing they will go the distance for their beloved pets. That's how I feel after what happened here. They told me I needed to leave my dog with them for 4 hours because they use a traveling specialized vet cardiologist and they need that 4 hour window for them to come check the dog out.... okay I guess. Here's the kicker though. Apparently we can't be there when he's being seen by the cardiologist and FURTHERMORE, it's an additional charge if we'd like to personally speak with the cardiologist about their findings. I was told by the manager that it's not their policy, it's the traveling vet cardiologists policy. That's taking no accountability and avoiding all responsibility. It's their choice who they use and they choose to contract "one of the best" heart doctors who I end up paying for to evaluate my dog who apparently writes "detailed notes" which supposedly I'm supposed to feel confident in without ever talking to them. Like I said, many vets take advantage of the fact it's very easy to convince someone their animal needs more treatment ($$$$) than is really necessary but then to not be able to talk it over with the physician without paying for a "consult," is beyond me or any medical practices I've heard of. I highly recommend you go elsewhere because this alone says a lot about the businesses ethics and practices. read more

Since Dr. Berman retired and sold the practice, I have found another vet. I used to drive 30+ minutes up from the 'burbs to see him and Karissa, but after they left, I had to move on. While I have no doubt that Drs D'Agustino and Tadros love animals, I do believe they recommend a lot of unnecessary and expensive procedures and tests. I have a dog with low blood protein who looks and acts totally healthy and normal, for years her bloodwork has showed this issue with no other symptoms or problems. Once those two started looking at her, they had me paying for all these crazy expensive tests to figure out the "problem." After I got tired of wasting $$$$ on a totally healthy dog, I moved to a new vet, where we check her bloodwork annually for minimal cost and she remains the same. read more

My experience with Denver Animal Hospital was... just fine. JUST fine. My dog was seen for an initial exam, three routine vaccinations, a heart worm test, heart worm medicine, and I had him microchipped. He also needed antibiotics for inflamed gums. The bill for all this was $285, which I think is fair. He got what he needed, and the folks in the office were pleasant. The "wellness exam" cost $45 and consisted only of having my dog's temperature taken, a few pats from the doctor and assistant/office manager, and my answering a few health questions. There was no "exam" as far as I could tell and I'm not sure what I paid $45 for. I was the one who had to point out the issue with his gums. They took blood, gave vaccines, and inserted the microchip. The office could run more smoothly. I had to call three times before being able to make an appointment. The phone went to voice mail once (during office hours) and I hung up once for being put on hold for a long time. (Though, to be fair, they did ask if it was an emergency and if it was ok to put me on hold.) Because there is only one front desk person who is also the assistant, there were several people waiting while I was checking out. There was a little fumbling around looking for appropriate items and some trouble with the computer and printer which contributed to the overall feeling of not-quite-having-it-togetherness. As I said before, we got what we needed and the staff was friendly. However, if, God forbid, I have an emergency with my beloved dog, I'm not quite sure I'd feel 100% confident and comfortable going back. I mean... I'm crossing my fingers that my microchip information will be registered accurately. read more

Being somewhat new to town, I relied on Yelp (thanks, Yelp!) for a good yet affordable local place to take my doggy. I read the reviews for Denver Animal Hospital and immediately made an appointment. The building is in a cute, quiet location and the interior is cozy and welcoming. I was a few minutes early but the receptionist led me to the examining room right away (score for no wait!). Karissa was very prompt with the weigh-in and was very nice and friendly. I was the most happy about Dr. Berman, who was attentive and was great with my dog. He took his time during the examination, asked questions, and patiently listened to my concerns. A great little vet if you are looking for a professional and caring staff. Today I had my three dogs in for the works, and after inspecting them and scaling a little plaque off of Diesel's teeth, it was determined that only Vegas needs a full dental cleaning, and of course they all got their shots. They could have easily told me that all three needed cleaning, but instead of up-selling, I was told the truth! Sure, when things are going well with your pet and it's routine checkups and surgery it's easy to love your vet. But what happens when things aren't going so well? I think that's the true indicator of the professionalism and kindness of a veterinarian and his staff. I write this update still trying to cope with the loss of my 14 year old cat, Chloe. 2 weeks ago I noticed my cat was eating less and less and getting very thin. I called DAH to see if they could get me in that day, they could and I headed over later that day. As always, they saw me promptly, and we discovered Chloe had cancer. Dr. Berman and Karissa took the time with me to discuss my options. Upon much consideration I decided to take her home, feed her prescription food and see how it went. Ashley called me a few times afterward to check up on Chloe, as did Dr. Berman. And, for a few days, things were looking up, then last Friday things took a turn for the worse and I made the agonizing decision to put my kitty down. Dr. Berman and staff stayed late so I could be the last appointment of the day and they helped me through the process (I decided I wanted to hold her while they put her down). I cannot say enough wonderful things about Dr Berman, Karissa and Ashley. My one regret is that I didn't find them sooner, they were wonderful to Chloe during the seven months of her being their patient. I know that I'll return to them when I'm ready to adopt again. read more

I called Denver Animal Hospital after adopting a sick kitty from DFL and they got me in RIGHT AWAY for the free exam you get when you adopt. Poor little guy had a temp of 104.5, but other than the sneezing he seemed OK, so I was sent home with a warning to be concerned if he stopped eating or drinking. I took him home, and of course he wouldn't eat or drink anything for almost 24 hours! So I called again and the got me in within 20 minutes of me calling to give him fluids and show me how to force-feed him (pretty awful, but had to be done). Everyone who works there, from the receptionist to the technician to the doctor are all so kind and caring about the health of your animal, I was so grateful and thanked them a million times. PLUS - they did not charge me a ton of money to see him! I expected it to be at least $50, and it was significantly less than that, even though it was basically an emergency visit. Like I said, these people really do care, and will make sure you have a great experience. I am sooooo glad to have found my regular vet here in Denver! read more

We used to take our dogs to Denver Animal Hospital until a few very disappointing incidents. We loved Dr. D'Agostino, but were far from impressed with the other vets. They misdiagnosed our dog's perianal fistula as a constantly rupturing anal gland, despite our consistent inquiries as to whether it could be a fistula instead. It wasn't until we switched vets that it was properly diagnosed, and now with medication our dog has been in remission for more than a year and a half. In another incident, I came home to find my other dog had accidentally grabbed and opened a bottle of Advil from our dresser. I called DAH, told them the name of my dog (they knew her well as she was notoriously afraid of the vet and often put up a fight), and what had happened. They recommended I bring her in. So I made the 30 minute drive down there. When I arrived, they somehow only then realized that it was me who had called. They nonchalantly indicated they didn't even want to TRY and address it themselves since she's a hassle. Instead, they told me to drive back home and pour hydrogen peroxide down her throat on our own. At the time, I was willing to do that... I'll admit, my dog can be a pain at the vet, and at the time I was unaware how time-sensitive and serious the situation truly was. So I made the 30 minute drive back home and tried it myself. When it didn't really work, they told me to bring her back and they would go ahead and try it themselves. So I again made another 30 minute drive back down to DAH with my dog. This is about 2 hours into the moment I walked into the house to find her eating the pills. Sure enough, they were able to get her to puke up the pills, but she ultimately had to be hospitalized at another location for 6 nights and 7 days because of how much Advil had made its way to her blood. As I now know, when dogs eat Advil, toxicity is an incredibly serious threat and every second after the ingestion counts... evaluation and treatment should begin literally ASAP. And in a situation like this, a vet should NEVER be sending a customer/patient home to take care of it themselves simply because the dog is "too much." That is a pathetic excuse, and may end up costing a dog's life when the clock is running. read more

Everyone at Denver Animal Hospital is great! They treat your pets like their own and really go above and beyond to make sure everything is going well with your animal. I've taken my dog there for her regular check-ups and shots as well as when she was sick. After she was sick they called to make sure the medicine was working and that she was feeling better. Better service than my own doctor! Then just today I got a call from them letting me know that my specific type of dog food that I buy had a recall on it. I would have never known about it and could have potentially poisoned my pet had they not called me! Definitely the best vet I've ever taken our dog! read more

I blame this hospital for the untimely death of my cat. Our 5 year old cat was urinating and defecating outside of the litter box, which was not normal for him. We looked online and learned that this is generally a sign of some sort of problem and to take the cat to the vet. We called and the receptionist told us to bring him in. We did. When my wife brought him in, the vet was seriously scared of the cat. Our cat was a bit ornery with new people, and I understand, but a veterinarian should be comfortable with ornery cats. The vet did not touch my cat. He looked at him, asked where the litter box was, and said, "move the litter box. He is fine. Here is a printout from the dumb friends league on getting your cat to use the litter box." Then he left us to pay the $70 bill for a printout from the internet. He knew nothing more than I had learned in five minutes on the internet. He scammed us, told us we needed to come in, then gave us a printout. I was disgusted, but happy that my cat was going to be OK. Fast forward one month. My cat wakes me up howling on a Saturday morning with blood coming out of his penis. We take him to a different vet, and it turns out he has stones in his urethra and his bladder was about to explode since he could not urinate. After $700 of attempts at removing the stone, the only option left was surgery for another $4000. Unfortunately my wife and I simply could not afford $4000, and we had to put him down. All in one day. We listened to Denver Animal Hospital, thought he was fine, and then he was dead. Had the initial vet done any testing, taken an x-ray, even looked at the cat, I believe he would be alive today. Instead, we went to Denver Animal Hospital, got scammed, and wound up having to put an otherwise healthy 5 year old cat to sleep. And we had the pleasure of paying them $70 for doing an internet search and printing out information from a website. Thanks. I myself will never be back and can only hope that other pets meet the same fate due to incompetence, greed, and laziness. read more

Dr. Berman and Staff are great. I have a hairless cat and a pug and both of them are comfortable with the doc and the office. Dr. Berman listens to me as the owner and also knowns about the animals I have because he genuinely cares. Their hours/days work for me (M-F around 8am to 6ish) and I have even seen the 'sub-vet' I'm not quite sure if she is a Vet tech or another Vet but she fills in for Dr. Berman from time to time and she was great. I have even had 'after-hours' care as my cat cut his paw pretty badly on a friday night and Dr. Berman called me back within minutes to help me figure out what care was necessary. I can't say enough great things about this office - oh wait one more! They play pretty nice music while your'e in there so you're not just sitting in silence holding your animal. read more

This is the best vet in the metro area! They helped us through the end of life anguish and challenges of our elderly cat. During the time of Covid, other vets would have had him scheduled out two weeks when his situation was clearly urgent. After calling four other vets and not having success, I called the Denver Animal Hospital and they fit me in that day. They stabilized my kitty to the point where he could have possibly lived another year. He lived another three weeks of quality life, romping in the garden, stealing food behind our backs and giving us boatloads of affection. When it was time to put him to sleep due to an unfortunate incident that put him into crisis, we could not have asked for more caring, capable or gentle staff. All of the staff were wonderful, but Dr. Adaska, Christy and Debra are stars! I will never take our fur babies anywhere else. read more
