My friend and I parked in the REI lot after letting our dogs run around at the dog park. Now it was our turn to have fun. We headed to "DBC" for food and some beers. It was either this or Brider, but I'd already been there before. Turns out DBC just has beer with a food truck out front. Perfect! Because DBC doesn't serve food, we were able to bring the dogs inside. Unfortunately my friend forgot her ID and I already got my beer, so we didn't hang out for as long... Just until we were done with lunch. We're already planning on coming here again. Our dogs had a great time and received many treats and pets. My favorite kind of people are those that love animals. When the weather is nicer, we'll sit outside. Lovely patio with a view of the neighborhood. Lots of places to stop by with the dogs afterwards. Overall if you're living in Denver or simply visiting, it's necessary to have a few beers at DBC. You can even buy cans or growlers to take home. Seems like they have some fun special events. I was in Denver a couple months ago for the GABF, and while there, made a point to also visit as many local breweries as I could stuff into the weekend. I actually popped in here the afternoon before my GABF timeslot, which, pro tip: probably don't do that. GABF was a hundred bucks, and my palate was shot halfway in, probably cause I'd already started tasting earlier in the day. But I digress. Anyway, this was certainly one of the nicer *places* to taste beer - I love breweries like this one, that have an indoor space, but with so many large doors that it still feels like you're part of the outside world. They've got both tons of tables and tons of bar seats, as well as more seats outside on the patio, so they're well positioned for the crowds. Everyone there was super friendly, happy to answer questions, and beer appeared almost instantly after ordering. Prices were totally reasonable - $2-3 for tasters, $6-7 full pours (except the one bourbon-barrel-aged beer they had at the time was $8 for a full pour). And they've got a pretty wide range of beer, from the fairly normal, to the wacky stuff I tend to look for. I did try one of their flagships - I'd been seeing the graham cracker porter and the Princess Yum Yum (raspberry kolsch) at bars and restaurants all over Denver all weekend, but it's more fun tasting from the source, anyway. I tried the raspberry kolsch, and it was a bit lighter than I would have liked, but still delicious (very fruity). Of course, I had to try the limited edition imperial bba version of their porter, which is kinda dangerous - not as bourbon-barrely as I normally like, but was still delicious, with tons of coconut, roasty, super balanced, and didn't taste at *all* like it was almost 10% ABV. Finally, of course I had to try the one super-weird one, a carrot cake blonde, which literally tasted like carrot cake! (It was delicious, if you like that sort of thing.) Though I'm sure that one's long gone, but I'm sure they have other interesting things to replace it, anyway. I wasn't in the market for food when I was here, sadly, cause they also have giant, fresh-baked, delicious-looking soft pretzels for $5, but I didn't try one. Next time! p.s. Wow this place blew me away. Between the beers at Denver Beer Co and Cerveceria (the sister spot next door), I am highly impressed. I knew Denver had a big craft beer scene, wow I didn't know what to expect. We came on a Saturday night and had to wait 45 min for a table. We ordered tasters of: 1) birthday cake blonde - blonde ale where I could imagine tasting the sprinkles from the cake!) 2) white chocolate graham cracker blonde - blonde ale that had hints of marshmallow flavor 3) peanut butter graham cracker porter - fantastic peanut butter flavor. It's not porter season just yet, but I loved this one! 4) queen yum yum raspberry kolsch - delicious, light fruity beer perfect for summer! 5) brandy bock - I didn't love this doppelbock at 11.7% ABV. It was way too strong (as I should have expected) and couldn't finish. Do yourself a favor and check this place out. They've got some fantastic brews under the belt and I wish I live nearby to try more! read more

My first impression of this place wasn't the best - it was so crowded on a Saturday afternoon, so I just left. Came back on a Tuesday night, though, and it was much more chill. It was the perfect experience for a transplant and her visiting friend! There's even a "Greetings from Denver" mural right outside for you to take pictures with and round out the local Denver experience. I can see why this place is so popular because the beer is top notch. I've had the Princess Yum Yum at other Denver institutions, including the 1Up in LoDo. They have a really good sour beer, too. I'll be back to try all the other ones eventually. When it isn't too crowded, you can check out the board games toward the back corner of the bar area. There's also usually a food truck right outside if you get the munchies. Or, you can order a pretzel from the bar. I wish I had appreciated this place a lot sooner, but I really was turned off by the crowds. For so much available seating, including outdoor seating, there still doesn't seem to be enough. 5 star location (both inside accommodations/seating and convenient spot in Denver). Denver Beer Co. has one of the best taprooms in Denver! On beautiful days they open the doors to combine the indoor and outdoor seating. Even on hot days, the brewery has misters to spray water down on the patio to keep you cool! If I could give 4.5 stars, I would--the only thing holding this brewery back from my standpoint is the beer. It's good, just not my favorite beer. Denver Beer Company was by far one of my top few choices for breweries in Denver. I love the feel of the blossoming neighborhood, and the atmosphere was very welcoming, open, and casual. They have several choices for all different pallets. The Incredible Pedal is a refreshing IPA with a floral aroma and a refreshing taste on the back end. The Graham Cracker Porter was a nice way to round out the trip. I'm not a big porter girl, but this was a sweet slow sipper. You can't beat the location and the name. As an early brewery and one of the only in north Denver for a few years, DBC was an awesome spot with a nice patio and convenient for those on this side of town. The run club was a nice way to meet people and exercise too. As the brewery grew in popularity the beer quality did not. Nor did the service. As an early supporter we loved coming in and hanging out, playing games, and tasting something new. Lately, and believe me, I still come back and try and give the benefit of the doubt, the service and beer is not worth the convenience or comfortable patio. Many bar staff seem like they have four other jobs at any time, one is not serving those of us standing and waiting. And my latest attempt was their Belgian white which was sincerely the most disappointing attempt at the style, I would've taken a Blue Moon over their craft beer in any circumstance. If you haven't been before, check it out. If you only slightly enjoy beer but location and an energetic ambiance are more important then you'll have a nice time here. But if you're looking for solid craft beer there are other spots nearby that will be better choices for you. read more

Wanted to experience Cerveceria but felt like it was a front to get more people into Denver Brewing Co. Customers can't sit or order anything inside Cerveceria and instead the Denver Brewing Co is the main building. You are able to order Cerveceria beer but not within their building. First off, I loved this place until today. My friend ordered a beer and brought it to the table. This table had holes like a tire rim. He had one sip of his beer and then it slid into the ridge in the table and shattered as he tried to save it from falling. The beer glass sliced his hand so deep he needed stitches. The male bartenders proceeded to give him a dirty rag and cut him off saying it was "their decision". Mind you this was the first beer of the night. All they could do was CUT HIM OFF AND GIVE HIM A DIRTY RAG. Don't go here unless you want to cut your thumb off and get cut off in the process. SO disappointing. read more

Avoid this place like the plague, they are prejudiced and ableist. I have a friend who has had a stroke and talks slowly and wobbles as he walks and the bartending staff (mostly a woman with very thin hair in a ponytail who conveniently refused to say her name when asked) automatically assumed he was drunk and refused to serve him. At this point in the night, he was about 3-4 beers in and not drunk. When we approached her and explained why he spoke and walked the way he did, all she said was "well how would I know that?" and refused to admit any wrongdoing on her part, she was callous, unresponsive and insensitive. There were other people in the bar at the time that were yelling and spilling drinks, nothing happed or was said to them. This was clearly a case of prejudice and i once again advise people to avoid this place like the plague. read more

I like this place! It is one of few places that is dog-friendly and the outdoor area has a lot of space to sit as long as you are okay with communal tables. I join the Tuesday run club semi-regularly and there is always a good turnout for runners as well as normal patrons. Beer is good. I like the juicy freak, princess yum yum, and they had this awesome white chocolate blonde for a bit, but didn't have it the last time I visited (10/08/19). :( Love sitting outside here! Today it was my 4th time at this brewery but it was my 1st time with my 4 month old golden retriever puppy. I was with a friend that had a goldendoodle and they were playing under our table and like I mentioned, my puppy is only 4 months old and started barking to get my friend's dog attention to play with him. This man approached us and said "can you make your dog shut up he's annoying". At first my friend was in complete shock and had no reaction to him. 30 minutes later I hear him yelling across the bar again to tell my dog to shut up. The place has the perfect name. The location, up the street from Proto's Pizza and Paris on the Platte, is perfect for the Platte River Valley and Highland neighborhoods. It's just a short walk from LoDo. I have nothing negative to say about this establishment, save they could use some delicious brewery edibles made available for the patrons who are there enjoying the beer. But there are often food trucks nearby and they serve Bavarian-style pretzels and dipping sauces. I would like to see more. The business is spacious, being housed in an old auto-truck-van repair company building called Gear-Up Auto Inc. Parts of the bar are built around the hydraulic jacks. They also built other parts of the décor around pieces of old equipment. Plus there is a large patio to enjoy the wonderful Colorado weather. This is Dill dressing, and the name should reflect it. Ranch has connotations of southern heavenly creamy buttermilk with flavors that perfectly pop out of your mouth with every dip, this is nothing of the sort. Other than that, place rocks. This place was dope! They have so much seating and a huge beer selection. They have a huge bar and then all of these tables both inside and outside. It reminded me a lot of the smaller pubs we have here in Tucson but with this amazing sprawling space to sit and visit with friends. We purchased some merch here too and Scott was so kind and helpful :) I had a sour and an IPA, both of which were delicious. We sat outside and played catchphrase and just laughed. Stopped by here whilst walking downtown and it was a nice surprise! Definitely want to come back. They happened to be having a cookie and beer tasting which we decided to try (see picture) and it was a good experience. All were really good except the peanut butter beer. I don't like peanut butter in general, but I gave it a try because, why not, ya know? It's probably my biggest regret the whole weekend. From the smell and taste, I kind of want to fake a peanut allergy. That's why it's a tasting, though. I have been wanting to try this place for god knows how long. Former co-workers, friends and fellow yelpers have raved about this place and it was a Saturday afternoon with my parents and sister, that finally brought me here! Here is the breakdown: 1. The tasting room was huge, spacious and open. I love the old garage feeling, especially with the garage doors leading to the patio. I'll have to come back in the summer and take advantage of the perfect spot to sip on a brew. 2. The staff is beyond friendly. After picking a table near the bar, I was greeted by a young woman who poured our 8 beer sampler for us, all with a smile. 3. The Graham Cracker Porter and Hey Pumpkin Ale were our favorites by far! super creative names and flavors :) 4. Food trucks are parked out front, or station themselves there for the day. Currently it's Chilie Billie, and although I didn't sample anything, it looked delicious! My friend even broke her beer glass and the employee cleaned it and replaced her beer which we appreciated. I visited The Denver Beer Company as part of the Denver Gourmet Food Tour of the Highlands, what a vibrant place! Even though I can't drink due to my alcohol allergy, I did sample/sip three of their beers, a light, a medium, and a dark brew, all tasted fresh and handcrafted! (excuse my terminology, or lack of...) Our host brought out a homemade soda for me which had the label "Colorado Cola" and it wasn't half bad, given it was made with beet root sugar. And drinking a soda from a dark amber beer bottle was pretty fun. The place was PACKED! So much so that I wondered if there were lots of cops surrounding the area just waiting to see if they bust people for DUI, lol. But I mean it in a good way because the place is real fun, everybody seems to be in a cheerful mood. The chairs are colorful, conversations are loud, beers flow non-stop and I enjoyed the semi-open atmosphere, as opposed to a typical night club scene with music blasting too loud and space too confined. This is more airy and free here. I'd recommend it to any beer lovers! read more
