Rude staff and they weren't transparent about the charges. I had my plates renewed and it said it was going to be $250 for everything including the smog test. And they ended up charging $13 more, which isn't a big deal but it's my hard earned money and I hate being gas lit and lied to. The whole DEQ testing is a scam anyways, multnomah county is a joke of a place to live. The air quality is pretty decent so it's obviously just a cash grab, among the rising costs of living and homelessness . read more

Found out on October 8th, 2020 they lifted the grace period for not needing DMV Tags on the 1st...... so I've been driving illegally for 8 days!!! Oh dang. Notice in hand, I went to the DMV off of Powell and 181st. They had no check in person. Just a sign. Pull up and wait. THEY ARE NOT TAKING CASH AT ALL. Bring plastic. I pull up, wait less than 5 minutes for the guy in front of me to finish. Pull in. And I'm out with my new Tags and on my way home. I went before 10:00 am.I doubt I was the more than 15 minutes total. Awesome. Now I can start seeing less vehicles with no tags driving like ........ not good drivers. Its been an issue. read more

This place is very efficient. Upon driving into the property you will be greeted by the attendant who clarifies what you need to get done and what you need to have on hand. Once that is cleared, he will ask you what your form of payment will be than let you continue forward with the Gate # assigned to you. After driving forward for a bit, you will turn into the proper gate and another attendant will ask you to pull forward, keep your car running and step aside. (It was pretty chilly- highly recommend you dress warm.) There's this intense wind tunnel that forms.... Afterwards, you will be asked to pay from the kiosk and will be given your printed out paperwork. Very easy, efficient, professional and Covid safe. Everyone was wearing masks, maintained a healthy distance and I was in and out. Very very well done! Thank you for making a grueling process very easy and quick. On 9/9/23 I went to renew my tags. I handed y inspector Charlene my new registration. She ran the DEQ test and said that's $25.00 on my Visa. I said I'm here to get my tags, that's what I handed to yo. She apologized, ran the DEQ test again, and handed me my tags. It showed $263.00 instead of the correct amount of $238.00. She called a lead over who voided out the first test and said I'd get a $25.00 refund on my VISA. After six phone calls, and 16 days waiting for my refund. I spoke with a DEQ manager Tammy, who said she'd looked into it and so had the higher ups? and that my $25.00 refund was being held by my banks 'FRAUD" department? She said they can sit on it for 30 days, and do it all the time.. Called B of A fraud and they said they never do that and they'd open a fraud claim. So here I am sending four pages of documents to B of A. The inspector screws up, DEQ can't figure out how to post a refund, and a manager says my bank has my money.??? Another government agency, with untrained employees and management, and the consumers have to cleans up their messes. read more

Stage are Completely unable to define DEQ specific terminology. What does DEQ mean the car is "not ready" for DEQ testing? Why do I need to buy a computer and internet access to filing out of that they mean? The employees are worse then the stereotypical government workers I doubt they have enough intelligence to do their job much less operating the equipment they are supposed to use- I had to plug in the equipment for them DEQ is a joke read more

Aside from my struggles finding the place (I blame my GPS more than the actual signage), coming here for my first DEQ Test was a breeze! There were only 2 cars in front of me in line, so the wait took about 3 minutes to be helped. Once I got to the actual test, within 5 minutes I had both my test and payment completed.
