The food rated more of a 3 stars but I'll explain why I rated lower. This was my first time coming here. It was fairly clean and they had a buffet set up. By the counter they also had trays. I wanted to try more than one dish and the young man behind the counter said they sell as single orders only. I picked the goat curry and the bindhi with red pepper. He asks me if I want it in one container and without thinking I said yes. He starts packing it up by stuffing the container 3/4ths full of rice and then half and half with the dishes I'd picked. I realized that I was then being charged for two full orders but getting one order of rice with half portions of my two entrees. With the gulab jamun I ordered it came to around $19. Then when I give him my card he mumbles something about it being $20 something with card. Okayyyy. I know it's my own fault that he managed to charge me for more than I was provided but I'm still cheesed it happened. As for the food, the rice was fine, the okra was a little oily and some pieces were tough, but overall was pretty good. The goat curry was pretty good, the spiced gravy was nice and the meat was soft. Gulab jamun has a very oily aftertaste and the syrup is very bland, no taste of spice. Overall I felt I was overcharged for the quality and quantity of the food I received.

This restaurant is rather non-descript. They have a lunch buffet. I didn't not have the buffet but it looked fresh and tasty.. I order the Chicken Tikka Maasala and the Naan. The Naan is the size of a small country. That's what's up. The chicken was very tasty. And I was satisfied with the quality of the meat, the spices and the overall richness of the creamy tomato based sauce. I'd return. Not bad for Rockland County.

Chicken tikka masala was tasty, creamy and good flavor

Food was tasty but very oily. The dessert at the buffet was delicious and they had gol gappas, but not for the health conscious eater.

What impressed us first was their friendly, efficient and thoughtful service. I believe the man who took our orders was the manager. When he learned that I was a dairy-intolerant vegetarian, he informed me that the two veggie dishes I ordered - Bhindi Masala and Smoked Baingan Bharta - both came with heavy cream but they could switch to coconut milk for an extra $2. Then he went down the list of our order to say that some other items also contained a bit of dairy. I figured that I could survive that much anyway. Although the restaurant sign says "creative Indian cuisine", we stayed mostly with the traditional and our favorites. Our order came very quickly. Arriving in a cute mini tricycle, the samosas were surprisingly plump and substantial. Two of those could easily make a meal for me. The Kure Kure Mushrooms were deep fried and coated with creamy seasonings, bus still retained the chewy bite and aroma of oyster mushrooms. The serving was so large, the spices so abundant that both husband and son said they'd resume this dish after our rice arrived. The meat-eaters were extremely happy with the Malvani lamb, while I was just as impressed with the two vegan dishes. Everything was cooked from scratch, retaining the fresh flavor and texture of the ingredients. There must have been a whole pound or more okra packed in the Bhindi masala, which was dryer yet tastier than what I'd experienced elsewhere, a truly honest value. Baingan Bharta is one of my comfort foods, and their version surely met my expectations :-) We loved their creative Rosemary naan, what a delicious fusion of east and west! The waiting staff kept checking our water supply and other needs. The bill was very reasonable. We are sure to come back for more!

For the price and flavor it was so worth it. I got two meals out of mine. I got the gyro platter and it probably was one of the tastiest meals I've had in a long time. I thought the chicken was seasoned and flavorful. But by far, the best part was the white sauce. I would pair it with the mango lassi and it was such a great explosion of flavors - both savory and sweet. I will say they ask whether you're okay with onions and raisins in your platter. I liked them but I know raisins might not be what most people prefer to add to their rice. Service was fast. You can either order at the front table or at your seat. They got the food in a reasonable amount of time. The place looks small from the outside, but when you walk in, there's a back room worth of 30 people worth of seating. It's extremely cozy inside. There's also a parking lot right next to the restaurant and also across the street. The lot right next door is kinda small though, so you might need to loop around. Parking shouldn't be a problem and you can get a really good stop if you're lucky.

Since Yemeni coffee and tea options aren't common for everyone, they take the time to explain the menu and answer questions, which I really appreciated. However, the Adeni Chai was the only saving grace of the visit. It was flavorful and well made, but the coffee was a massive disappointment. I tried the Jubani after the staff described it as a delicious light-roasted coffee packed with caffeine, but in reality, it tasted like bland cardamom water with absolutely no coffee flavor or body. It felt like I was just drinking hot spiced water. The atmosphere was also a major issue as there was no seating available whatsoever. The crowd was mostly of Middle Eastern descent and many were incredibly rude; people will bump right into you and not say a word. Even worse was the way some customers spoke to the workers, it was absolutely deplorable. Honestly, who raised you? It was uncomfortable to witness. The dessert selection was even worse. Most of what we ordered felt stale and old. The only thing worth eating was the bubble dessert with cheese because they actually toast it. We tried both the pistachio milk cake and the pistachio dream cake, and neither was impressive. The khattafi in the pistachio dream was the biggest letdown; it was so stale and bland I can't believe they actually put it out to sell when it was clearly weeks if not months old. The basboosa was also a disappointment, as it was a very small square of semolina cake for almost $5. Overall, It is not a good place for coffee or desserts, so if you do go, stick strictly to the Adeni chai.
