The food rated more of a 3 stars but I'll explain why I rated lower. This was my first time coming here. It was fairly clean and they had a buffet set up. By the counter they also had trays. I wanted to try more than one dish and the young man behind the counter said they sell as single orders only. I picked the goat curry and the bindhi with red pepper. He asks me if I want it in one container and without thinking I said yes. He starts packing it up by stuffing the container 3/4ths full of rice and then half and half with the dishes I'd picked. I realized that I was then being charged for two full orders but getting one order of rice with half portions of my two entrees. With the gulab jamun I ordered it came to around $19. Then when I give him my card he mumbles something about it being $20 something with card. Okayyyy. I know it's my own fault that he managed to charge me for more than I was provided but I'm still cheesed it happened. As for the food, the rice was fine, the okra was a little oily and some pieces were tough, but overall was pretty good. The goat curry was pretty good, the spiced gravy was nice and the meat was soft. Gulab jamun has a very oily aftertaste and the syrup is very bland, no taste of spice. Overall I felt I was overcharged for the quality and quantity of the food I received.

This restaurant is rather non-descript. They have a lunch buffet. I didn't not have the buffet but it looked fresh and tasty.. I order the Chicken Tikka Maasala and the Naan. The Naan is the size of a small country. That's what's up. The chicken was very tasty. And I was satisfied with the quality of the meat, the spices and the overall richness of the creamy tomato based sauce. I'd return. Not bad for Rockland County.

Chicken tikka masala was tasty, creamy and good flavor

Food was tasty but very oily. The dessert at the buffet was delicious and they had gol gappas, but not for the health conscious eater.

Now on to the criticism... the service is not that great, we were seated and given menus, but we had to get our own utensils. This is not really a full service type of establishment, you pay at the register. They could use more efficient expediting, and then things would feel more welcoming. The second thing I was disappointed with, was one of the reasons we came here was for the Masala Dosa. They started off by saying no Dosa and no Biriyani available. We saw a couple walk out because there was no Dosa. We improvised our order to things we weren't too excited about ordering, but both the beef curry and the butter chicken were tasty. The next thing that will prevent us from coming here for dine- in, in the future is the horrible smell in the bathroom and the temperature of the restaurant. We wanted to wash up before our meal, but the smell in the bathroom was gross. It looked clean, but there was definitely an odor. It was 42 F outside and the air conditioning was blasting cold air. I asked twice to shut it off because my kids were freezing and I was cold too, but it looked like all they were able to do was raise the temperature on the unit which helped only minimally. Really good food, but I think they will need to find a way to address some of the other issues

Beautiful music was playing at the perfect volume. We ordered the vegetable pakor as an appetizer, and shared the beef vindaloo medium spice and saag paneer high spice. The paneer was mild in flavor and less spicy than the vindaloo unless you ate a bite of green pepper. This is my first time ordering beef vindaloo instead of lamb so it was nice to taste the flavors that usually are overpowered by lamb. The food came with a big bowl of basmati rice and we ordered garlic and rosemary garlic naan. The rosemary was delicious on its own but I couldn't really taste it when eaten with the vindaloo. Finally, I got a masala chai and it was so delicious, and the gulab jamoon for dessert. I couldn't taste any rose flavor, but it tasted a little different than other gulab jamoons that I've had in the past. Still delicious!

I should have said something at the time. It is false advertising. I also emailed them and I never received a response (yes, I know I can call as well). They have never responded. The people that worked there are kind. They had a good mix of all different foods as well. Honestly, for me, who LOVES Indian food...thought it was not good at all :(. Usually I want to dip my naan in all the sauces and I didn't. If you never had Indian food or tried different places, you might think it was good. The whole table agreed. The food was not warm enough (we got there half hour after they opened) and it just tasted 'off'. I was so looking forward to this and chose between 3 places. I made the wrong choice.

Best Indian culinary experience for my family in a long while. Since I cook Indian food at home, I…read moream quite picky about Indian restaurants, and Mumbai Dreams blew our mind. What impressed us first was their friendly, efficient and thoughtful service. I believe the man who took our orders was the manager. When he learned that I was a dairy-intolerant vegetarian, he informed me that the two veggie dishes I ordered - Bhindi Masala and Smoked Baingan Bharta - both came with heavy cream but they could switch to coconut milk for an extra $2. Then he went down the list of our order to say that some other items also contained a bit of dairy. I figured that I could survive that much anyway. Although the restaurant sign says "creative Indian cuisine", we stayed mostly with the traditional and our favorites. Our order came very quickly. Arriving in a cute mini tricycle, the samosas were surprisingly plump and substantial. Two of those could easily make a meal for me. The Kure Kure Mushrooms were deep fried and coated with creamy seasonings, bus still retained the chewy bite and aroma of oyster mushrooms. The serving was so large, the spices so abundant that both husband and son said they'd resume this dish after our rice arrived. The meat-eaters were extremely happy with the Malvani lamb, while I was just as impressed with the two vegan dishes. Everything was cooked from scratch, retaining the fresh flavor and texture of the ingredients. There must have been a whole pound or more okra packed in the Bhindi masala, which was dryer yet tastier than what I'd experienced elsewhere, a truly honest value. Baingan Bharta is one of my comfort foods, and their version surely met my expectations :-) We loved their creative Rosemary naan, what a delicious fusion of east and west! The waiting staff kept checking our water supply and other needs. The bill was very reasonable. We are sure to come back for more!

I just returned home from a three-hour meal at Mumbai Dreams this evening. Going into the night I…read morehad high hopes for a great experience. We had a reservation for a party of six at 7:00 pm and were promptly seated and given water when we arrived. Unfortunately, that's where things started to fall apart. We didn't see another staff member for about 45 minutes. Eventually, I believe the manager came over and took our drink, appetizer, and entrée orders all at the same time. Our drinks arrived about 20 minutes later, and the appetizers started coming out intermittently after that. Our entrées didn't start arriving until around 9:00 pm, again coming out one at a time. Some people in our group were nearly finished eating by the time others received their food. We had also ordered naan for the table, but it was the very last thing brought out, at a point when some people had already finished eating and no longer wanted it. Throughout the evening, a young woman did keep our water glasses filled, but aside from taking our order, no one came to check on our table -- no one asked how things were going, whether we needed another drink, or acknowledged the long wait. The final frustration came when we received the bill and saw that a 20% gratuity had been automatically added. Considering the level of service -- at one point we were stacking empty cups on the windowsill just to make room for our food -- this felt pretty disappointing. The food itself was decent, but based on this experience I wouldn't return. One suggestion for management: if in-house service is running extremely slow, it may be worth pausing take-out orders so you can properly serve the customers already dining in the restaurant.
