Wonderful service, ambiance, and food. Happy hour food and drinks, so that was our dinner. Our server was attentive but not overly so. Nice crowd too. I loved all the pretty floral trees inside. Sit on the patio if you can, there are heaters out there and you can see a view of the mountains. I would have preferred the potstickers to not be fried. But they were still served beautifully. Tonight was our 4th or 5th visit to Derailed. Food was ok. Server had a great attitude, but drinks and food came out very slow. The primary issue was that people consistently held the front door open for a long period of time. We were sat near the front door and it was 25 outside. I approached the hostess and asked about the front door and she replied "it isn't us". I told her that I understood she wasn't holding the front door and could she please ask the customers to close the door as they came in. There was little progress. At the end of the dinner I brought this up to the manager and it was evident that she couldn't care less. Most likely our last visit to Derailed. There's daytime and happy hour Durango happy to drain the pocketbooks of tourists, then there's off-season on a Sunday evening Durango where the staff at any local establishment just want to go home or only serve the locals/regulars. Maybe it was my t-shirt or the fact that I walked in alone about an hour before closing time, but my experience last night at Pour House was the latter and I'll never be back. Walked in, got carded (I'm obviously around 50, but whatever, I come prepared) and ordered an "end of the night" cocktail after a not-so-pleasant experience at another nearby establishment (don't get me started there; that's for ^their^ review) ... and was told "we have the right to refuse service so I'm going to decline to serve you." And with zero explanation. Considering the host checking IDs was blitzed and obviously "on something" (as most of the staff at the place was by the state of their pupils), I could see how he wouldn't notice that I was probably the most sober person entering (now leaving) the establishment, but the service at this joint at this time of night could certainly use a little training on what is appropriate. So sorry he didn't want to pour a whiskey after I asked what kinds of bourbons versus whiskeys they had and saying I didn't like Jack Daniels nor any style of Jim Beam as my options, I guess? Nice job at taking someone who used to love downtown Durango during *any* season and turning that person into a billboard of "nope, never again" instead. Might be a great place to eat or visit during the day or early evening, but don't expect the nightlife staff to be accommodating. read more

We were in town and I read the reviews and thought we would give this a try. The building and decor were fabulous! I enjoyed looking around and a trip to the restroom is highly recommended (you will understand later). The service was not what I expected from the reviews. We are somewhat of an after thought. Not much interaction and seemed a little miffed when I wanted refills on my tea. The food took forever. I do mean forever! We waited a very long time and even had to ask where it was. Couple tables who came in after us with larger parties had their food and almost finished before we got ours. The service was good for a bit but shortly after my food was delivered I ran out of beer and the server chose to stand ten feet away talking to a coworker instead of getting me another beverage. I'm on the fence with this restaurant. The food is decent and priced reasonably. However there were many turn offs. The positive: atmosphere is great! I lived the decor and it had both indoor and outdoor seating. The negative: (1) We waited 20 min for our drinks after ordering. Our waiter kept apologizing and said that there were new bartenders that are a little slower. (2) We came as a family of 4 and placed our food order at the same time. However my carbs asada quesadillas came out 25 min after the rest of the family received their dinner. Everyone in my party was done eating by the time my meal arrived. No explanation was given but the waiter recognized it wasn't right and comped my husband's $5 beer. Not my meal which was only $17, not my drink which was $14. He comped the cheapest thing we ordered. Have no expectations if you visit, as they don't know how to execute properly. read more

We had a very enjoyable dining experience at Derailed Pour House. Hostess and server were both great. Decor is enchanting. There is a mix of traditional seating and lounge seating. We were grateful to have a reservation. Extensive and inventive cocktail list, all we tried were delightful. Our food (BLT and flatbread) were both really delicious. There was a musician but thankfully they played to enhance the ambiance and not blast their music so loudly that table conversation is impossible. read more

This was our first night in Durango and unlike our meals in Albuquerque, this place was very good. We started with beer, an IPA for the wife and a blonde for me, both very good. Well, the beginning of this visit was less than pleasant. I had called to make a reservation and was told one was not needed as they were slow this evening. When I arrived about 20 minutes later I was asked if I had a reservation. I explained that I had just called to make a reservation and was told that o e was not needed. I was then told that they were not taking any more reservations and there was a 35+ minute wait. When speaking with the manager, I was told, I. Her condescending voice "This is the restaurant business in Durango." The she (a) told me they don't take same day reservations and (b) if I had called between 3:00-4:00 today I could have made a reservation. (None of this was relayed to me when I called. We ended up waiting outside in 41 degree weather for 30 minutes for a table. Thank goodness the service, cocktails, and food were fantastic! I had a couple of seasonal cocktails, both very good, but the Winter is Coming was amazing. We ordered several appetizers: chicken potstickers (good), goat cheese bruschetta (good), southwest egg rolls (my brother liked them, and a smoked pork taco (amazing!!!). My brother also ordered the Philly cheesesteak and sweet potato fries (fries were very good). Our server was top notch! We had drinks and appetizers - drinks were good the egg rolls were but too spicy for me (low spice limit) the chicken tenders and fries were bland unfortunately- the honey mustard dipping sauce was good though. Stopped in for dinner because of the reviews and food and drink selection. Once seated at the bar, we received prompt service, and two impeccable cocktails. Mid-meal we were asked to move from two seats down at the bar. Normally, I would have zero qualms with relocating but because we were mid-meal I felt that the request was extremely distasteful. I requested to speak with the manager, and turns out that the bartender was the manager. After explaining that the request ruined our experience, the justification was that because she has been behind the bar for eight years that people generally don't have a problem relocating. We wanted to like this place but it just missed the mark on so many levels. We ordered the boneless wings (don't bother.. we actually had them sent back because they tasted like frozen chicken nuggets and were delivered at the same time as our meal instead of as an appetizer), BLT with chicken and the calrese sandwich. Both entrees were cold and just not good. The caprese sandwich did not come with basil or aoli as stated in the menu. The meat portions in each sandwich was pitiful at best. Overall we were let down on so many levels including waiting over 1 hour and 10 minutes for our food along with many other tables. With tons of great restaurants Durango has to offer, definitely skip this place. read more

The aesthetics are great. Magical and intimate. The server was disinterested in serving, and it actually felt like she was unhappy we were there. Drinks took forever and there were 3 bartenders back there. Food also took forever but with the shortage of cooks I can understand the delay, however the food was awful. All the plates lacked skill and understanding of flavor. There is a way to prepare precooked Sysco food and make it taste good, you just need to try a little. I have given this place several chances over the years and the staff are mostly rude and it feels like a girls locker room of cliquish mean girls with private jokes at the customers expense. The mean things said by the bartender with a white stripe in his hair was inexcusable and he should probably find a new line of work if he's going to be that ignorant with little regard for customers. I've been told the owners have heard these same complaints for years but nothing has changed. So I'll look at the pretty lights from their dining room as I go to El Moro, Eolus or any other restaurant within walking distance because they do want my money and will provide all the things you want like friendly staff, great food and drinks. read more

We loved our experience here. They said the wait would be 45 mins (we didn't have a reservation) and they got us seated in 10 minutes. Our server Kendall was so kind, knowledgeable, and friendly. We had the southwest fries and salad for appetizer sooo good!! The tacos were killer and the sandwich was great. Definitely recommend the truffle fries as a side!! The restaurant was fast and tasty. I would give Derailed Pour House a 3.5 star review, for service, but I will keep it at a 4 star review. We were in Durango for the night, to catch the Durango to Silverton Train the next day. We walked around and shopped a little, had reservations for dinner some where else, but the men in the group wanted a cocktail prior to dinner. The ladies met the guys here later, and they said it was recommended from a local. Cool. The set up, and vibe of Pourhouse is excellent. Spot on. We sat in a little nook, that had a couch, and 2 chairs, vintage, and a table that was not just a normal table, made out of hardware to be a table. Very cool. I love antiques. There were partitions made to separate the nook areas from each other. This is a great place to sit for cocktails and appetizers. Craft cocktails are pricey...so this isn't just a joint you come to if you want to slam back a few drinks. You're bill will be astronomical. We started with the eggrolls and fries off the happy hour menu. Our waiter was pretty attentive at first, until I guess he realized we were not going to be ordering more food. He started to pay alot more attention to a table with 2 younger girls and their mothers. More interested in flirting then assisting us in refills or getting our tickets. Which was a little annoying that the service went down hill so quickly. As my husband called it...boujee, but again, cool vibe. I would possibly come back if I were in town for a cocktail or two. Great food at a competitive price. Stumbled across this delightful brew pub/ gastropub and the family was much happier for it. We got seated immediately and ordered a few appetizers, meals and drinks. Everything we tasted was delicious - burger meat was really special (my picky eater son said it was the best he'd ever had!), Jalepeno poppers were great, smoked pork tacos were awesome and the drinks were refreshing. Look closely at their website!!! The website says it honors walk-ins but that's far from the truth I'm a local and I've never been in this restaurant! They advertise at my gyms tv DSC all the time. Brought some OOT friends in to experience the restaurant together. We didn't have reservations we inquired to sit at the bar. But The manger wouldn't let us sit at the bar to have a drink while we wait !!! He told us to walk around DWT for 45 min and he would text us. I told him to look around you have 3 open seats at the bar and his response was " our arses would be in the patrons face ". And that wouldn't work. I've never been to a restaurant that was so unaccommodating , argumentative and insulting! Their are so many amazing restaurants in Durango. This one isn't worth your money or time !!!
