Stopped in for some pizza as we were passing through town. This place was recommended by the hotel staff to try out. We went in and were seated right away. They were really busy so it took awhile to get our drink orders in. We all went with the 8" personal pizza with 3 toppings. Surprisingly the pizza came out fairly quick. And tasted really good. The only negative I have is the silverware they provided was dirty with some food still caked on it. Overall good pizza and great prices. read more

I grew up in West Racine so we pretty much grew up on this pizza. The pizza is flavorful!!! The sauce is great and the sausage has a very distinct flavor. Don't expect a classy joint as this is a mom-and-pop type of restaurant. As far as service, yes, the staff may seem a little brusque on the phone. But for some reason, when you are there they are as sweet as pie! I think it has to do with how much the phone rings. They are constantly answering phone calls. The B E S T pizza in Racine! Pizza Burnt, paid for delivery, arrived warm with No Pizza Bag! Could not Eat it! Never Again.

This place used to be my pizza joint that I always went to for many years!!!. But the past couple of years. It's has gone DOWN!!! You wait about ten minutes on the phone to place an order but the waitress put you on hold before you can say anything. And your on hold for so damn long that they forget to get back to you. The service has gotten so slow, like the waitress doesn't give a damn. They're always short staffed. Even the delivery of your pizza takes about an hour and a half. The place never looks clean. Since the two brothers that had it years ago sold it to the new owners. They really haven't done shit to the place or hired better staff. That place was a staple of the west Racine restaurants but now it just a dump!!!! I been going there for about 25 years. And the place just got worse and the staff got less caring. And another thing. Not to long ago the menu prices went up. The PORTIONS GOT SMALLER. The APPETIZERS are EXTREMELY SMALL. Today I got 12 Breaded Mushrooms for $7.95. The SUFEED SHELLS ARE SUPER SMALL. They are the size of an egg. The barely spread open the shell for filling. The shell pasta is still curled over itself. The meat filling inside is BARELY A ROUNDED TABLESPOONFUL. You used to get a "bowl" of soup NOW it is a small "cup" of soup. I paid $22 today and left hungry. read more

I ordered thtee large pizzas and a 24 piece fried chicken for a small funeral gathering. The pizzas were good but when I opened the chicken it looked dark and pumy. it didn't take us long to realize that the chicken was extremely over cooked, dry and chewy. We were shocked that they gave that horrible looking and tasting chicken to us. I was embarrassed because I. hose Derangos because it was close. I hadnt ordered from them in decades. NEVER AGAIN. I called within two hours to complain. I was told that the manager would be advised of my complaint. For my birthday we decided to get pizza and try DeRango's in West Racine. They said it'd be an hour wait. Ok. I showed up at the time they said and was told it was almost ready. After 20 more minutes sitting around I asked what was up and they told me they NEVER EVEN PUT IT IN THE OVEN. And this is after they checked and told me it was almost ready!!! I told them I wanted a refund and they refused to give my money back!!! What. The. Fuck. They offered me a party pizza with different toppings they had there instead of the smaller size I had ordered. I took it home so I'd at least get something out of it since they were refusing to give me my money back. It ended up being some cold and hard thing that was sitting around there who knows how long. SO, after a second god damn trip over there I finally was given a refund. So much for spending the evening with my wife. Instead I spent it driving back and forth and sitting around waiting for a pizza that never got made. Fuck you DeRango's. I will obviously never order there again and I encourage others to go elsewhere as well. I'll get over it, but frankly, at this point this has probably been my shittiest birthday in 43 years. yesterday I stopped off at a local restaurant to chat with fam. and friends and of course eat. I was greeted and taken to the table. it was of my great misfortune that my seating arrangement included a broad view of the cooks-goons. it wasn't my idea of being entertained, none the less i was forced to cope with an array of discomfort during my entire time there. the goons were all males, all Hispanic, they all leaned up on the food board with their nasty arms and backs and starred at me with fixed expressions, toothpick in one's mouth, hand towel in another, all chattering about with grins and laughter in their native tongue. turning their heads occasionally as if it mattered. it would have made anyone, male or female cringe or uncomfortable and I must admit this was not a standard operations act I was ready to say something, but I gave the manager the benefit of the doubt. the reply was. that's what they do, or they're just like that. later on, i was introduced to one of them as one of the boys as if it by some chance was to make some form of retribution. I was not amused. the entire time as i looked up from time to time, they continued with their immature, testosterone emittance male display of dominance. and did not ever give me any sense of respect and or relief. I do stand out as I am not your usual female, so my guess was "they aren't from around these parts" or so they acted as such. every day we wake up with the choice to make this world a better place. no one is precluded. and likewise, everyday robs someone of their rights to be free of persecution, and harassment no matter who you are or what you look like. but the worse feeling that came out of all this that was that not only did the management, not make proper corrections, the ill and noxious behaviors were socially accepted. I was not allowed to voice my opinion due to the sensitive nature of a few staff members. By the way... this isn't about Mexicans, or men. it's about the common place in our social world that all beings are to be treated with respect and served with professionalism "IF you're a paying customer". Now after all the years I've visited this place, now I realize why it's just another originally a great business, now warn down to a bare minimum of nostalgia and grit. nothing more. Some might say I'm picky or just too stiff. I say, if you're a paying customer. all of what the FDA and business promise is due to you. that was the worst 27.00 i have spent in a very long time....never again. read more

Doesn't follow covid guidelines . Clerk didn't even have her mask on. Had a terrible attitude. Customers who were around weren't maks either. I don't why you would be rude to a customer just trying to pick up a pizza. Couldn't hear my name on the phone so put down different name and clearly could tell she was annoyed with me because of their mistake. I get people have back days but don't take it out on a customer for no reason. I won't be coming back. I reccomend you dont come back either. Called an hour and a half into the wait to be told it's on the way. don't know why we waited another 30 min, but we called back to cancel the order they didn't care said we'll be refunded in 24hours and hung up. Was there yesterday picked up an order. The guy that was cooking the pizza had his mask hanging from one side of his face. Numerous of customers waiting around to pick up with out mask. No one said anything to them. Some of them all up on the counter while the pizzas are being cut. I will definitely not be going back with all this covid still going around. Now DeRango's just may be the diviest dive of all dives. The smell of smoke and pizza will hit you once you enter this place.... remember, this is WI. I have so many memories of DeRango's. I remember being scared to go downstairs to use the bathroom because it was dark and, well, scary! I remember walking here for lunch in high school with my friends Betsy and Colleen. We would always share a small cheese sausage and talk about music and boys while I inhaled their 2nd hand smoke. I remember DeRango's providing 15 party pizzas for my college band when we stopped at my parent's house for a band party while on band tour. And yesterday we decided to make things easy and have pizza for Mother's Day and it was what mom wanted, so that was even better! The pizza is so good here. Thin crust, but not too thin, lots and lots of toppings and tons of cheese, because hey, this is a pizza place in Wisconsin! DeRango's isn't just pizza, though. My favorite is the meatball bomber.... three huge meatballs, slathered in sauce and melty mozzarella, all on the perfect Italian roll. Heaven. I'm telling you. So, if you ever find yourself in Racine, only God knows why, you might want to skip your fish fry and try some great pizza instead! Well's Brothers will always be my favorite pizza in Racine, but DeRango's is a close 2nd and will always be dear to my heart. read more

If you want to kill an afternoon, this is the place! We walked in(3 of us) and barely could fit inside, as we were nearly outside, in the rain. So many were waiting to be seated, I almost suggested going elsewhere. But this place has great food, I've been here before. GREAT FOOD!!! Thing is, once we got sat, it took 10 minutes to get a menu. Actually, one waitress seated us in one place, the other waitress started yelling at us for sitting there. So we waited for them to clear a more appropriate place. By the time we were seated and had our menu, 10 minutes then passed. Add another 5 for the waitress to come and take our order(so far, so good). My mother got her soup about 10 minutes later, which is fine. She did say it was very salty, though. After that, from about 12:50-about 2:00 WE WAITED, and waited, and waited. Other people were getting their food. People who came AFTER us. And we waited. I'd say between my mom getting her soup anhd her order(which came after the others in our group) she must have waited an hour and 10 minutes. That's 70 MINUTES from soup to meal. Not good! The place was busy, but if you're expecting people to come back, don't make them kill a half a day there! read more

We've been going for years and they have really great pizza but tonight the failed us. We picked up our pizza at about 7:15 pm and when we opened the box the pizza had several slices missing from it. We took a picture and called right away and was promptly told it was our problem. @0 years we'vw been going here but not any longer. After being treated like that we will be going else where. I have going here for 40 years and will NEVER GO BACK! My wife and I went to have a pizza. We sat at a both, the place was half full at the time. We waited 10 mins. before the waitress brought us menus and took our drink order. That we understood, because there was a large table she was waiting on, what we did not understand is the other 2 waitress were talking to a table of 2 men 10 feet away from away from us the whole time, and never even bothers to even look our way. Well 45 mins after being there, and have had one cup of coffee, with no offer for refills, the pizza arrived. We asked for more coffee, the waitress seemed upset that asked, even though our cups have been empty for 20 mins. by this time there were only a few tables with custmers and 3 waitress, mostly standing around talking to each other. We finished the pizza, and the waitress was walking by, and I asked for a refill of my coffee, she said just a min. 10 mins later she came back with coffee, we said forget the coffee we will just take a to go box. 5 mins later we got the box, she said she had to add the ticket up. 10 mins later we were still waiting for the check. We go up to the register to pay still not having a check. The waitress come over slowly from talking again to other employees, and the adds the check up. I state to here she should have done that 10 mins ago! At this time she starts yelling at me she was BUSY, which was true she was busy not doing here job! I get my change and leave 2 pennies as a tip. She picks the pennies up and throws them at me overhand. I talked the owner after. and he seemed not to care at all, I WILL NEVER GO BACK! read more

First off, I had been a fan of this place for awhile until the horrible customer service I received recently. The pizza that was delivered was not what I ordered. I called immediately, after waiting an hour and a half for delivery to tell them it was wrong and request a new, correctly made pizza. The manager informed me that I ordered it wrong and it was my fault despite me telling her I had ordered this pizza several times before and knew how to order. She then YELLS at me and sarcastically says, "of course then it must our fault! I can remake it for you but I'll have to charge you." Seriously? I will never order from them again. Ordered 2 cheese burgers and medium pizza. I was told 30 minutes and waited 1 hour. Get home and discover they gave wrong pizza. Brought it back and waited another 30 minutes for the correct pizza. Burgers were made from Frozen patties, fries soggy and not fully cooked. Manager on duty wouldn't even acknowledge me after bringing back pizza. One of the workers says to me...do you think you are the only one ordering pizza? Everybody wants pizza. Excuse me for expecting an order to be correct and ready on time. I used to frequent this location every weekend as a child but, in more recent years there have been 3 separate negative things which have made me decide not to go here any longer. I gave this review 2 stars because they do have some good menu items and they have some reasonable prices. I originally stopped going here after the cook used the restroom and DIDN'T wash her hands! Another time I had ordered fettuccine and much to my dismay, discovered that there were cigarette ashes in the sauce. Years later, after management had changed my family and I received really rude service from a waitress that didn't even wait on us. We weren't being disruptive she was just very rude. I'm still not totally comfortable with their health code enforcement even since things have changed. This used to be my dad's favorite local place to bring us to and now I don't even want to step foot in here. Shame. read more

Ordered from here last night after not having been here in quite a few years. Ordered the lake perch dinner. While still on the phone I was put on hold so they could get my total and all I hear is "f" this and "f" that between two workers and "next time you answer the f'n phone." Couldn't believe what I was hearing. The perch was average at best...breading was bland and plentiful. Not worth ordering from here again. When I went to pick up my dinner, the place was empty except for one party sitting in the dining room. Service was terrible on my recent visit. First, we waited half an hour to be seated though we were looking at empty tables the whole time. When we were finally seated, the tables were still dirty. A lady came and wiped the tables with a towel so sour my family began to gag! We had to ask them to get a clean towel and wipe it again. The pizza came out missing one of the toppings we ordered and it took about an hour to get the pizza. I can cook a Jack's pizza in 15 minutes so, what's up?
