The reason this isn't 1 star is because the pizza and pasta were edible. It was very unpleasant talking to the employee on the phone to order pizza. Atmosphere is as fulllll of tweakers and drunk people even at 8pm. They didn't have cutlery and were unwilling to help in this department........... as a restaurant.. Racine has been going to hell the past couple years and Bernie's pizza is right along with it. read more

Cute little trattoria in the uptown area of Racine. Reasonable prices and the service is always speedy and reliable. I will also go on a limb and say they have one of the top red sauces in town, the flavor is savory and to die for. Their menu is concise and serves the basics for Italian cuisine, but all the entrees are top tier. I would rather have a restaurant with excellent quality of their limited offerings over one with mediocre quality but more variety. They know what they do best and they do it well. We are repeat customers of this place and we hope to continue to be for a long time. read more

My husband and I got a large pizza and beers. Beers were good and AFFORDABLE! The pizza seemed a bit raw, the ingredients seemed just out of the fridge/can. The cheese did not go to the edges of the pizza. The pizza was cut up into TINY, and I mean TINY squares. The saving grace was the sauce. The pizza sauce was margarita sauce and it was DELICIOUS. Called up to order a pizza, I wanted some might have some of the other half then I asked them to pinch the pizza dough to let me know where half and half was. The first girl I repeat the first girl told me she would try but could not guarantee that that could happen. She then proceeds to put me on hold because I asked her to tell the cook that she didn't think that the cook could do it. Somebody else picks up the phone now another girl tells me the same thing I said can't you just put him on the phone or just tell him to pinch the dough to let me know where the line was. She thought this was being rude told me to calm down. I've worked back of the house for plenty of years I work front of house for plenty of years my family has been in the restaurant industry for over 40 years when I asked her who she was she said that was none of my business when I told her that I'll talk to the owner she decided to tell me that that was not going to happen and then she hung up. Disrespectful to say the least. Obviously we won't be going back there and I will be getting a hold of the owner and I will let him know that I'm pretty sure that a lot of his business is walking out the door not saying anything because you have bad people representing you. For my father's birthday, we decided to head out to dinner. This pizzeria was one that was in the area but we haven't been to it in some time. The food was very good, the restaurant was clean, and the service was excellent. First, food. The food was pretty good. I ordered the Chicken Tenders and they were flavorful. Fries came along with it and they were good as well. All in all, the food came in large quantities and there was good flavor to compliment. My Rating for this Category: 5/5 Next, the cleanliness. Not much to write about here. The silverware and plates were washed properly and the food was cooked correctly. No bugs in my food either (I have had that happen before). Finally, the service. Best thin crust pizza I've ever had, hands down. Racine has a lot of really close competition for thin crust pizza, but Bernie's always comes out on top for me. Absolutely delicious. I always recommend a 1 or 2 topping (because it's so thin) and I ask for it baked extra crispy. When I am in town, I HAVE to take a trip to Bernie's. I often pick up their half baked pizzas and throw them in my freezer. When I'm feeling generous I pull them out for Packer parties and such- where they always receive rave reviews. We just moved back into Racine and were looking for a good pizza. Being in Illinios has spoiled us as far as pizza goes so we started out by visiting some of the places I used to think were good. Well with our number one place gone from Taylor ave we were at a loss. Bernie's is hands down the best pizza I have ever had. It has real ingredients, and it is homemade stuff. I order from Bernie's now and then and I'm never disappointed with the food, staff or the experience. The pizza is always cooked perfect. A great find in the Racine area. Opened two years ago, this is the more recent incarnation of the founders of Mike & Angelos. Located right off Rt 20 and Lathrop, it's easy to see and has a parking lot right in front. A small dining area, but a nice little mom & pop place which is welcoming to the whole family. The menu is similar to that of M & A's with a few little additions. My husband ordered the Italian Beef with Cheese. It was OK, nothing spectacular, but a good basic Italian Beef. I ordered a dinner salad, which was your basic fresh house salad. We then ordered a Large Pineapple & Ham Pizza. Oh, so yummy! We almost ate the whole thing right there! Being from Chicago, I do prefer the deep dish pizzas, but these pizzas are awesome! This is now going to be the place we take guests from out of town. They have a cool desert menu which includes these awesome brownie bites, which is what I got to eat. Little squares of brownie deep fried with ice cream and strawberry sauce. Also available... cobbler, cheesecake, choco cake and sundaes. Service was good. No complaints there. We were looking for business cards though and they didn't have any. Good but still not up to the standards set by Wells Brothers, in my mind far and away the best pizza place in SE Wisconsin and one of the best I've ever been to anywhere. Friday night fish fry (Friday only) is pretty decent. Lots of perch, some Italian bread, choice of a pasta side and some cole slaw (not enough). Unless you really like packing away the calories, 1 order will serve 2 moderate eaters quite nicely. It is a place I go to when I am in that part of town. But if I have to get into my car and drive to pick up a pizza, it is to Wells Brothers despite my living on the far north side of Racine and WB being on the far south side. read more

I live in Seattle, but have had family in Racine for many generations. Every time I'm in town, I have get Bernie's pizza at least every other night. Their thin crust pizza is the best I've had outside of Italy itself. The service is also exceptional. I have nothing to compare to on the west coast. After almost 50 years going to Wells Brothers while I was in town, and watching the neighborhood get rougher and rougher, I was thrilled to have Bernie's open. Awesome pizza! read more
