My elderly mother -- a weekend guest -- loves corned beef hash. Though I hadn't been to Derek's in years, I remember they touted their homemade hash. Based on Yelp reviews, I was hesitant to return. Since moving to their snazzy new location, did this once great hole-in-a-wall fall to the wayside? NO, they did not! First off, if you want an omelet, skip the Marietta Diner. Derek's has different options; I ordered what I guess is their signature dish, "Derek's Omelet" with sausage, bacon, green bell pepper, onions, tomatoes, & topped with cheese. I don't use the term "perfect" often -- but this really is. Too big to finish, I brought half home. The grits are delicious. Better than Cracker Barrel's, which I always liked. The only negative are Derek's biscuits. They need to be served toasted and hot. Otherwise, they're tasteless and dense. My mother gives the corned beef hash five stars. "I forgot to tell them that I like it crisp," she said. But no need. That's apparently how it's prepared. Yesterday Georgia's governor lifted COVID requirements. Too much too soon, in my opinion. But I was happy to see that servers and cooks behind the scene (I peeked!) wore their masks. Regarding the wait staff -- some Yelpers complained about poor service. Management must have taken comments seriously because they were all staffed up with pleasant and efficient people who frequently checked in on us. If you prefer dining al fresco -- generally my choice -- there are three tables out front. You can seat yourself inside or out. Note that the main portion of the restaurant is divided in half, each with its own television. One side aired MSNBC, the other Fox. Derek's not only serves delicious food -- but they're apparently politically neutral. Smart move!

We love trying places we have never visited before. Today we tried Derek's cafe. Great diner atmosphere. 60/70's music playing in background. Great vibe! Service was quick and efficient. Breakfast menu is pretty standard fare. I had the smothered biscuit. Eggs were cooked nicely, the biscuit was ok, but the gravy was very tasty. The grits were good. When I asked if they had cheese grits I received the grits with a slice of cheese on top :). However, once mixed in it was good! My son had pancakes. He liked them ok, however he has a very high bar for pancakes. Overall I would return if nearby. Tasty breakfast diner as you would except.

We were looking for a quick simple breakfast and this was the place! Very simple and classic dishes. Reminded me of eating at home but I didn't have to cook! It's a very diner vibe. Seat yourself and pay at the counter. Our waitress was great even though she was very busy. Not a huge place. We'll go back to try more dishes!

The food was fire, ambiance is about what you'd expect from a greasy spoon. Go for the food alone! Yum.

I would like to thank Derek's Café for consistently providing hearty, fast breakfasts at extremely reasonable prices for #Thankyouthursday! I am a huge fan of their coffee - not sure how they make it so delicious. It is a no-frills diner but always busy when so arrive. Despite the crowd, they serve customers quickly! We need more local breakfast (and lunch) places like Derek's!

After driving past this place for years it was time to give it a try. So I tried a nice Mexican dish because it had jalapeño's and I love them especially fresh ones. It was surprisingly very tasty but the hash browns were not as appealing. Server was very attentive. Definitely a good breakfast spot.

Yes you can believe the hype!! I am not on social media but…read more videos of this spot have been shared with me a number of times! I came for the first time the weekend of Mother's Day. I was told that since it was a holiday weekend they were not taking walk in's. As such, I ordered pancakes to go. I sat in my car and ate it!! The Pancake was perfect. Crispy around the edges and soft on the inside. What I really appreciated is that they were not that sweet. I really wanted to try the platter but it is only available as a dine in option. Today I wanted to have the pancakes from this spot again. I called around 10am and was able to secure a reservation for 12 pm! I was so excited. A few things to note- this place is small. The seating is very limited on the inside and then they have a few family style bench areas outside. It is my understanding that the inside is reserved for reservations and then the outside is where you get seated as a walk in guest. This is just based on my observation and I did not confirm this to be true. Service was top tier. We were greeted quickly and our server approached our table within a few minutes of being seated. Our server answered all of our questions. I ordered the platter and substituted the meat options for friend chicken. My friend also ordered the platter and substituted the meat for extra avocado . I had a matcha latte and my friend had a mocha - both with oat milk and hot drinks. The food came out in decent time and was clearly fresh. To me you can taste the quality of the ingredients . I also appreciate that the seasoning is light and not over done. The grits were creamy and gritty at the same time - some of the best grits I have eaten. Everything on my plate was amazing! I only tasted the biscuit because I did feel like the plate is carb heavy and I did not need all the carbs. My only suggestion would pertain to the matcha. I appreciate the fact that it is not pre sweetened, however it was chunky, meaning it was not whisked long enough. Based on my experience with the matcha I would not order that again. Seasons is worth checking out! I can't imagine that you can't find something to enjoy from their menu.

Inside is lovely and clean with earthy decor and some toys for children by the restrooms. They also have a portable changing table available on request. I sat outside on the patio and they put a fan on me since it was warm. Lovely seats on the lawn shaded by a large tree as well as some deck seating. They have a large menu loaded with goodies. I found about 5-6 things I actually wanted at once but settled not he Veggie bowl and added chicken sausage. My bowl had sweet potato hash, cheese, kale, red peppers, red onion and mushrooms sautéed, topped with two eggs and my added chicken. It was a huge portion and it was really delicious. Perfectly cooked and healthy and loaded - the hash was phenomenal. My waitress was the sweetest and I really just enjoyed a lovely quiet lunch with the patio entirely to myself on a lovely summer afternoon. Couldn't have been better.

The owner had everyone in mind when it came to the food. There's a drink menu for kids and even something for the dogs . I ordered the coconut curry salmon . It was good . It lacked flavor, but I appreciated it for not being overly salty. My favorite meal was the avocado nachos. I have thought of them since my first time eating them. It is one of the most popular dishes on the menu. Ask long as it's offered I will always order it . The parking was a bit tight behind the house . When I arrived , I was very lucky to get the last spot . However , I noticed other patrons were parking next to the Root Canal office . It was an open area that appeared to be a makeshift parking area. There was outdoor seating, by which I saw quite a few people seating there . It looked cozy and no one seemed uncomfortable. As it was my first time there. I elected to eat inside. It wasn't a bad experience, but the home is very small . I can imagine it being congested . But I was there early on a Sunday . The Red Eyed Mule has been consistently recommended as a top-tier place to get a biscuit in the greater Atlanta area, so I figured I'd finally give it a go. I got the spicy chicken biscuit, along with another biscuit on the side with some cheesy scrambled eggs and a side of country sausage to build my own SEC biscuit. First of all, the biscuits are HUGE. They're the ultra-soft, buttery, pull-apart-but-not-in-a-flaky-way type biscuits, which I enjoy. The spicy fried chicken was good on its own, but nothing outstanding. The country sausage was good, too. Don't get me wrong--I liked everything I tried. That being said, I didn't find them to be anything that had a "wow" factor, so I am glad I ended up trying multiple items just in case I was underwhelmed. I overheard a local in line talking about their corned beef hash, which he said was not your typical dish straight out of a can and onto the flat top, which, for the record, I have no problem with. But man am I glad I gave it a go. The corned beef comes in large chunks of shredded pieces, clearly taken from a big corned beef brisket and then mixed in and cooked with small diced potatoes. This was my favorite dish, by far. I'd come back just for that. I also tried their cheese grits, which was better than usual at a diner style restaurant. The customer service was awesome, and I really enjoyed the atmosphere in general. Worth noting it backs up quickly. I got there at 9:02, 2 minutes after they opened, and there was already a line at the door. I'll be back with friends for a dish of corned beef hash and grits, and I'll probably get a biscuit on the side just to enjoy on its own or with butter and jam.
