I would give zero stars if that were an option.
The female staff members were very kind and professional, and I have nothing negative to say about them. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said about Dr. Williams.
From the moment Dr. Williams entered the room, his demeanor was cold, impatient, and unwelcoming. He did not even greet me or my children. During the first examination, he mumbled a question to my son, and when my son politely said, "Excuse me, I couldn't hear you," Dr. Williams appeared irritated that he had to repeat himself.
What happened during my other child's procedure was completely unacceptable.
My son had three cavities, and I decided to have them treated that day. Before starting, I specifically explained that he becomes extremely anxious and uncomfortable with needles and medical procedures because of a previous lengthy hospital stay. Dr. Williams was aware of this before beginning.
My son was given laughing gas to help him relax and was connected to a breathing monitor. He was scared and crying a little. Instead of showing patience or compassion, Dr. Williams appeared frustrated and annoyed with him. He told me, in an extremely rude tone, that he could not work on my son if he was going to keep holding his breath. I explained that he was not intentionally holding his breath--he was crying because he was frightened. Dr. Williams continued insisting that he was holding his breath.
The nurse applied the numbing gel, and shortly afterward Dr. Williams administered the injection. My son immediately became more distressed, crying harder and grunting. I questioned why they had not waited to make sure he was sufficiently numb before giving him the injection. I was told the gel was "fast acting" and that there was no need to wait.
When my child cried out and appeared to be in pain, I stood up because, as his mother, I wanted to make sure he was okay. Instead of reassuring either of us, Dr. Williams yelled at me that I needed to sit down or he was "NOT" going to continue the procedure.
That was the moment I realized this was not the type of environment I wanted my children receiving dental care in.
When the procedure was over, my son looked traumatized and completely distraught. He didn't even want to look at me. Watching your child leave a dental procedure that frightened and upset them to that extent is absolutely heartbreaking.
Dr. Williams may be a dentist, but in my opinion, he should not be practicing pediatric dentistry. Being a children's dentist requires much more than knowing how to perform dental procedures. It requires patience, compassion, communication, and the ability to make frightened children feel safe. I saw none of that from Dr. Williams.
And unfortunately, this does not appear to be an isolated experience. I am aware that I am not the only parent who has had a negative experience with Dr. Williams. Hearing other parents describe similar interactions with him makes this even more concerning.
Children should never be made to feel like they are a problem simply because they are scared. Parents should never be yelled at for trying to comfort or protect their child.
The female staff members were wonderful, but unfortunately, their kindness cannot make up for the way Dr. Williams treated my child and me.
I would strongly encourage parents to do their research and read the reviews carefully before choosing this office for their children. My son's emotional well-being matters more to me than anything, and after this experience, I will not be returning. read more
