My first eye exam was when i was 14 with Dr. Pearson. As a teenager getting glasses i was nervous but recall him making me laugh and feel comfortable. I saw him for many years after until I moved. Very pleased! The employees are so friendly, helpful, and professional! Carrie is wonderful. I know I will love the new glasses we picked out. The gentleman who did my pre-exams (don't remember his name) was also extremely nice and professional. And, I can't say enough about Dr. Pearson! What great personality. He was so on task, very informative, and personable. I could probably have a conversation with him for hours! I was very pleased with my experience there.... I gave this place 2 stars ONLY because the facility is clean and SOMEWHAT friendly. The young blonde at the front desk was rude, and very unprofessional. I was a first time patient here, and my insurance was never asked for. They (she) ASSUMED I did not have insurance, and only AFTER I was finished with my appointment was this looked into. Furthermore, her demeanor was less than welcoming. What kind of business doesn't ask for insurance right away?? Had I known my CIGNA insurance was not welcome, I'd have IMMEDIATELY turned around. I feel gipped, and taken advantage of. I was given a discount for being a new patient, and paid $65 from the $117 they wanted to charge me. I will NEVER come here again, will NOT recommend people to visit here either. This company is SHADY!!! read more

I had to choose another location that accepted my insurance and happen to run into this privately owned business. As the previous client said, it's tucked away at the end of a residential neighborhood near Southern & Rural on the NW side. When you walk in, you immediately notice how the office is so bright and cheerful and I was immediately greeted by someone at the desk. I was greeted by the lovely and friendly, Carrie. I was seated briefly to complete a few new patient forms - easy peasy. The environment was so fun and upbeat as they had their Sirius satellite music playing throughout the office. They have a variety of frames and sunglasses to choose from. Anna, one of the techs, took me back to do some of the pre-tests (how well eyes process light, evaluations, visual field screening, etc). She was so friendly and all of the equipment was very clean and the space was very organized. She then took me into the exam room where Dr Chow greeted me and performed several tests. Loved her energy and professionalism. Totally comfortable and asked her several questions she answered clearly. She explained everything clearly and didn't rush me through. After the exam she took me back to Carrie where she explained copays, options for contacts / glasses and scheduled another day for me to come in for trial fitting for contacts. I'm so glad I found this place! It's comfy-cozy, energetic & caring staff and it's so conveniently close to home! I highly recommend this place for new clients!!! Thanks Desert Eye!!! read more

I just love this place. Everyone on staff is so caring and responsive. Their frame selection is amazing and there are several brands I can't find online. Their recommendations of what would work for my face haven't failed me yet. They are also honest. It is obscenely expensive for me to have my lenses thinned because of extreme nearsightedness, but instead of charging me $800, the staff figured out a solution that wouldn't break the bank. They're also super nice to my daughter when she comes in with me, which counts for a LOT. I fully trust them and highly recommend. read more

These guys were so awesome to me today. Dr. Cheng helped me a lot, and the girls from the front desk helped me sift through their zillions of eyeglass options. I got a couple of opinions from the different people there to figure out what would be best for me. They had fantastic customer service, really took their time with me, and listened to what I had to say. At first, I was a little unsure because the outside makes it look like you're walking into someone's house, but once inside you can see they have a beautiful facility and a fabulous staff. I only went here because it is very close to my house and they had good reviews-nice to see that they were so great!! I should also note that Dr. Cheng was very thorough with her exam, she had a calm and soothing voice so that was very nice. Once she was done, she thoroughly explained to me what's wrong with my eyes, told me about my prescription, when I should wear glasses, and she also was very knowledgable on my autoimmune disease and treatments and how those affect eyesight. I found that really impressive because I have been to MD's who have no clue how to pronounce even the name of my medications...she told me exactly what signs and symptoms to look for should I develop eyesight in conjunction to my Crohn's Disease/Arthritis flares. Great place, modern facility, clean, neat, friendly staff and a very upscale nice selection of designer frames. The only reason for the 4 stars instead of 5 is because my frames were misplaced in delivery and took an extra week before they were located. Not a reason for me not to go back for my next pair, which I do plan on doing so in the near future! read more

I have been seeing Dr. Pearson for the last 5 years or so and I have nothing but good things to say about him! He does a very thorough job, is very personable and really makes you feel comfortable. The other staff has always been super nice and very helpful. I feel no pressure to buy glasses if I don't want to, but they are there and willing to help out when I do want to. They offer me all of the extras and explain everything but I never feel pressured to buy if I don't want to and if I say no, they just move on. Some of their frames are more expensive, but I find that when I do fork over a little more they hold up better and I don't have to replace them as often and ultimately I'm just happier with them. My son (7 years old) recently had his first eye appointment with Dr. Pearson as well and everyone was so good with him. I liked that they talked to him, not just me, and really went out of their way to make him comfortable (he was a little nervous). The lady who helped him pick out his glasses was amazing and didn't seem at all impatient with his indecision. These folks are great, and I encourage you to go down and give them a chance. I don't know what happened with the previous reviewer, but it seems to me that you just can't please some people. I have had nothing but great experiences in the years that I've gone here and I'm sure you will too! read more

I have been going to Desert Eye for many years. Dr Pearson has seen me all but last year when I saw Dr. Cheng. Both doctors are excellent. The exam process is very thorough and the staff is very competent and helpful. I cannot say that I have ever enjoyed seeing doctors as a whole but this is one of very few exceptions. I always enjoy my visits and it is one of a few medical offices that I have need to visit that doesn't raise my blood pressure just to walk in the office. My wife and I have been going to Desery Valley since Dr Hatton was practicing there. Even after we retired and had no insurance we still went as the prices and service are hard to beat when considering both. The one thing that stands out the most is the Dr's and the staff actually care about you as a patient and as a person. read more

Just last week I was in the office to see Dr Pearson and received excellent service. I have a hard time finding frames I like. The office staff worked one-on-one with me and helped me to find a very nice pair of frames. It was less than a week and I was able to have my new glasses. Dr Pearson has been my eye doctor for years and offers great personal service everytime I go in. He has worked so hard to find me the perfect contacts for my picky eyes. read more

Just picked up my glasses with the (maybe?) polycarbonate lenses. The lenses are still thicker than my previous lenses with the same prescription, specifically the new lenses are thicker throughout the lens not just at the edges which are considerably thicker. Furthermore one of the lenses has unequal grind marks all around the edge with a chip and deep grind at the bottom. So customer service is bad, the lab they use is inferior and the prices are high. read more

This eye Dr is the best I've ever been to. The wait time was minimal everyone was friendly and the office was gorgeous. All of the staff I encountered were happy to talk with me. The Dr was friendly and did a quick but thrurough evaluation of my eyes. The best part and icing on the cake was Griselle. She was the associate who helps you pick out your glasses at the end. They have an assortment of high end frames but also some that were more affordable for a preschool teacher like myself. She was so on board with my budget and was so helpful in picking out frames. She looked at the shape of my eyes, my skin tone and how the frames complimented my natural features. It is so great to meet people who are amazing at their jobs and love what they are doing. We ended up finding an adorable pair that fit right into my budget. Love this office would reccomend it to anyone and everyone! read more

Let me start by saying that my husband and I have been seeing (no pun intended) Dr. Cheng for years and she is a very professional and nice doctor. However, Desert Eye as a whole is a logistical nightmare. They ordered glasses for my daughter and first they were back-ordered by the manufacturer, which I understand is not their problem. So they ordered another pair in a different color so that we could get her vision corrected in the meantime. I called two weeks later to check on the status of the frames and it turns out that they were never actually ordered. Once they were ordered, it took 3 weeks longer than expected to arrive (no one communicated with me or notified me about anything during this time). After they finally did arrive, they emailed to let me know we were "all good to go." So we took our daughter to pick them up. Turns out....they never ordered the lenses. Why would I order frames with no lenses for my kid who was just told by your doctor that she needs glasses? A week later we went to pick up the frames and lenses and they did not correctly complete the insurance paperwork as they promised (in writing) that they would. Lack of communication on their end resulted in a lot more work on my end than anticipated. Not worth it. read more

If there were a possibility of writing a zero star review I would have done so. I have never been treated less like a human being and more like a dollar sign in my entire life. I was in Arizona temporarily on business and had an appointment with Desert Eye so I could get new contacts in my short stay in Tempe. The appointment went well enough. I called two times to schedule my follow up appointment after being told it was unnecessary to do so and it could just be finalized over the phone. I never heard back from anybody at the facility and moved back to my home state of Wisconsin. I recently tried to get new contact lenses and was told I was unable to because Desert Eye would not finalize my prescription. I spoke with several different people at the company and nobody cared that I was no longer in state and that their office was incompetent in returning my initial attempts to schedule my follow up appointment. Long story long I am being held captive by an eye care facility that has no interest what so ever in the welfare of their customers. It is sad when the Medical Industry puts the almighty dollar in front of the patient. A complete waste of money as I now have to reschedule an appointment with a Dr. in Wisconsin. I have never posted a bad review on anything in my life and it saddens me deeply to have to now, however, normal people being swindled out of their money and time is completely unacceptable and unfortunately typical of today's medicine. Needed an eye exam and Desert Eye had good Yelp reviews. They were able to get me in the same day I had called which was nice. I arrived for my appointment about 10 minutes early and filled out paperwork but was called back for the appointment about 25 minutes passed my appointment time. The office is one of the most aesthetically pleasing offices I have seen. The only negative of my experience was when it was time to choose frames at the end of the appointment. I had gone to the appointment on my lunch break wand was called back late so i was short on time. I still wanted to browse the glasses and come back maybe the next day to purchase. One of the women sat with me and asked if I would like to look at frames to which I responded yes. She then asked me, "Well are you actually going to buy any today". To which I responded I would come back within the next day to buy. She then said, "Well maybe just browse around on your own and when you are ready to buy I can help"...Not sure if they work on commission here, but that was off-putting. Other than that, I would say my experience was enjoyable. read more
