This Petsmart went above my expectations before the winter holidays. I made an appointment for one of my dogs to have a bath, as I was unable to bathe them as I normally do. They called to cancel the appointment because the groomer had an accident and had to leave work. However, my father was already on the way there with my dog, as I had just broken my leg the week before. Luckily, they managed to fit my dog in for a bath while they were missing one groomer. It was so helpful to have them bathe my dog before Christmas! We have visited this same Petsmart at other times and have had some great service from some of the workers here while wandering around the aisles looking for new toys, treats, or beds. Petsmart has been my "go to" shopping stop for purchasing our frog and betta food. Its near our market so its convenient. I've always considered it a staple but nothing surprisingly WOW about it until today!!! Last month I bought a reptile enclosure kit for my frog that was not super cheap.... and the light fixtures seem to be defective. I figured that I was coming in to buy a new light fixture and bulb, but instead they let me exchange it for a completely new one!! One happy customer! My family and I have been doing a lot of research and preparation on becoming bird owners. We have all we need, just need the bird. My kids have visited this location many times just to see the birds and what's new. We are interested in a conure and asked if it would be possible to interact with it. We've held several before, they're amazing. We were replied to with an abrupt "no he doesn't like people, and doesn't want to be held." Here's a family that could've walked out with a lovely bird, but instead left feeling so sorry for the bird who doesn't get any interaction from the employees at the pet store. Don't you work at a pet store if you like pets? It would've been so nice to receive a simple "oh, are you interested in the conure?! Let me tell you a little about him!" Nope. And I feel horrible for every animal in that store. read more

Really upset with this location and the way they run their business. I called and made an appointment to get my dogs teeth cleaned. When I arrived and unloaded my two small children into the stroller and the dog on the leash, I walked in and they began checking me in. They neglected to disclose that a vaccine record would be necessary to treat our pup. This would have not only been nice information to have but when I asked if there was anything they were willing to do to compensate the obvious inconvenience, they said sorry not sorry. I cannot recommend this place & their grooming services. My shih tzu was in last week and came out with a horrific ear infection. He had bloody pus coming out of his ears yesterday (no vet could get him in) and he was worse this morning. Luckily, I was able to find an emergency vet that got him in today and after taking samples and learning more about his home environment, they confirmed this only could have gone from the groomer. Wendy was the person who was supposed to be taking care of the wash, etc. I've used this location several times & he's ended up with ear problems twice--the first wasn't nearly this severe & we weren't positive grooming was the issue. This time there is no doubt. We will not be going back. My poor dog had to get a shot for pain, IV antibiotics, 2 types of antibiotics to be given at home and had daily allergy med increased to 2 pills a day until this infection goes away. All of this, even after it was made clear that my dog is a service dog and that special care needed to be taken to ensure the ears were dry. I am so upset with petsmart & their groomers. My dog is so babied and I keep one hell of an eye on everything. That this bacterial infection was so rapidly progressing and the sheer amount of pus that was coming from the ears was terrifying & unbelievable. Absolutely do not bring your dogs here for grooming services. It has been a major struggle to find a good groomer in utah, but I'm back at it or my dog will be groomed only at home or when we're in Los Angeles. I never had these horrific problems with groomers there & as a whole, dogs seem to be much more cared for there. Avoid their groomers at all costs. This could have killed my best friend. read more

The groomer I usually book was unavailable so I tried a new groomer Wendy. When I dropped my dog off they told me they were slow so they would be done pretty quick. I told them that my dog sitter would pick my pup up. When he picked pup up they waited until AFTER the tip to complain "you should book earlier for time To kennel dry we had to use two people to dry him." When I called back to follow up they had already closed before 2 pm due to no other appointments. So they didn't need to rush dry my dog they did by their own choice and blamed us for it. On top of that the grooming was terrible. Multiple mess ups and straight up did not trim ears or tail like I specifically asked for. read more

If you get hired here, beware. I was hired as an entry level manager with the knowledge that I would promote to a higher position in about 3 months when someone transferred to another store. First, I was told that I would be making the same wage as the job I was leaving, I was not, like a dollar less. When the time came for the promotion, the manager wanted me for the job, and told me that I would be making over $20. an hour "like 22. -23. an hour" he said. I accepted the job the next day and asked what my pay would be, he said he had to let people know I had accepted the job and find out my wage. About a week went by, I asked every couple of days what my wage was, he never had the answer for about a week. Then he tells me $20. I was surprised it was that low but I wanted the job and kept quiet. I recently gave notice and came to find out, he offered the same job to someone for $24. (a current employee) she turned it down. Then offered it to a new hire for $21.50, she accepted. I don't know why I was told a higher wage, both when I was hired as a part time manager, and later when promoted to full time and a higher level of management. I have 34 years retail management experience and some college education. I know I have more experience than the other two. Perhaps this is discrimination based on my sex, age, size, sexuality or personality. I know I am a nice guy and because of that, I get used, looked over and taken advantage of sometimes. Extremely disappointed in the service we received today. I dropped my dog off at 9 AM didn't get a call until 11 to come pick her up because they could not finish her cut due to her being wound up. When I arrive to get her she is not even bathed and has random shaved spots all over. Which should not have taken two hours. I can only assume she spent most of her time in the kennel before them trying to groom her. In my opinion a good reason to be stressed. What is the point of having an appointment to sit in the back...? I will never be going again. read more

Madison groomed my 9-month-old miniature schnauzer 2/02/23 and did a perfect job! Thank you! I asked her to be careful not to shave too closely around her anus and bladder and because she listened, my puppy had no problems sitting down and was not uncomfortable for a week waiting for that hair to grow back! And while she was a bit anxious when I dropped her off, she has exhibited no signs of trauma from her recent grooming experience. When that didn't work she walked outside to the parking lot helping me use my Find my IPhone app. PetSmart is fortunate to employ such a kind and considerate person. It is very rare I leave any reviews outside of restaurants. However, we had the absolute worst experience visiting this store. We called ahead to confirm they had male guinea pigs. Drove all the way to this store to ensure we got a male to pair with our already owned male. Well, they sold us a female and we called to figure something out, help with spaying/neuter, exchange, or something. The manager called accusing us of lying and that we already owned the pig and there is no way they would mess up. They had no record of any guinea pig sells that day yet we had signed record of their associate Trish selling us the pig. She aggressively accused us of just trying to work them for a favor and absolute no way they would mess it up. I now have the responsibility of spending $150 to fix the male or female to avoid constant babies. So I'm stuck spending $150 on a $35 pet because this manager and store do not have their crap together. Horrible experience. It's unfortunate to have a "pet" store not care about the animals they sell. It's unfortunate the manager would be so disrespectful to a customer over a $35 pet and when we spent a couple hundred buying extra feed, vitamins, housing, etc for the pig. read more

I don't have any pet friends living with me and yes, this is where it's at now, me shopping at a very specific store for stuff for someone else's aminals...*ahem* that aside, interestingly, there was a lot of empty shelves. Not saying it means anything, just saying. There were probably a lot of exotic creatures, but I'm not in the market to hang out with any beyond the couple hundred or so spiders and centipedes living in my basement, so I skipped that. I was mostly looking for kitty toys (and maybe treats) and puppy treats and figured this place should have everything conceivable. Kitty section is...not huge. Dog section is massive and fully half the store is devoted to that. I would consider being offended on behalf of my feline buddies, but I suppose the place might be stocking in proportion to the respective sizing, dogs typically running much larger. Anyway, I don't do this kind of shopping a lot, so it took me quite a while to get everything sorted. This place gets the bump for recognizing that COVID still exists and having staff masked up, as well as the staff themselves being aces. The feel here, worth noting, is kind of like a neighborhood hang for persons with pets, even on a Sunday night. read more

Honestly just had a horrid experience here. I went in for a simple fish and there was almost nobody to be found, staff and customer-wise. I understand that stores must run lean to make expenses so that is ok. The problem was when one of the employees (happened to be the one I needed to see) finished with his customer and promptly went into the back room. I went to the cashier to ask for some help and she called him up. I went to go meet him but another customer called him away. Ok fine. I can understand that. When he finally came back there was a family waiting for crickets for their pet. Well he let me know that he was going to help them and keep me waiting even though I had been there longer. When he finally came around, he didn't even seem to care I had been waiting there. In all it took me 45 minutes to get a $2 fish. Next time I will find a store that wants to help. read more

Most Pet Smarts are pretty generic and hard to tell from one to the other, but this one seems to be a step above the rest. The store is always extremely clean; it's rare to see an unattended puddle of wee. And the staff is always very friendly. But their grooming staff is outstanding! Extremely attentive and careful. Marsha is extraordinary with our Chihuahua who can be a handful, but also has delicate knees. But Marsha is so good, we never worry. Four stars, instead of five,like because the new grooming booking computer system takes forever to get checked in, where the old system only took a few minutes. read more

They gave me an estimate about how long the appointment would be but not an exact time, then proceeded to tell me I was late and that because of my late arrival my dog would be stressed out because they do not let them out to the bathroom or out of the kennel. So basically admitting to neglecting my dog even though I had short notice to go get him. Like are they aware of the privately owned grooming places that don't even kennel dogs!? I've gone here for years for grooming and have never had an issue until today. We tried booking the new groomer Wendy. I forgot the appointment so granted that was my fault for being late. I tried calling and no one would answer. When I got there (20 min late, again my fault) I found out the groomer was on her lunch break.. at 9 in the morning. They had just opened. She refused to come back to take my dog who had a 4 hour appointment slot and claimed she had an express appointment coming in and couldn't do both at once. Which is odd because mine was scheduled first and overlapped the express appointment anyway. I honestly don't think she wants to work. If that's the case then go find a job somewhere else. I'm extremely mad because they refused to work with me. We had waited over a month for this appointment. I'll be taking my dog elsewhere. This is unfortunate because I've been a loyal customer for 10 years. Hopefully they can find some better groomers. Until then I won't be returning for services. read more

My sister and I had a great experience with an employee (I wish I caught her name) last night that really blew me away. We arrived just before closing time (yes, we were those annoying customers) and we asked for help from a staff member for assistance with live leopard gecko food, since we know basically nothing. I would have totally understood if she just gave us what we needed and got us out of there so she could go home, but instead she took the time to educate us thoroughly, problem solve with a feeding issue and put our minds at ease. I am always running to pet shops to find stuff for my dogs and cat. The staff here have always greeted us when walking in and always offer to help me find what I am there to get. I have found petsmart to be typically more organized than other pet supply shops. And this location should be getting the prescription pet food soon. read more

I have been taking my Morkie here for 5 years. The last two visits were so bad we have been basically asked to not come back. I'm not sure what has happened that they can no longer complete a grooming session with him. I was just told he needs to go somewhere he can be sudated. So I found a mobile dog groomer that does an incr double job in half the time, for less price, and says only positive things about my dog.
