The many awards won by the Rendezvous in the past. Don't expect to see anymore of these!
    Mike F.

OK, so there are places that are great and places that are ok and places that aren't very nice. This is the first hotel I've stayed at that falls into the "avoid at all cost" category. It's not that it's dirty or uncomfortable or anything like that. The rooms are reasonably clean, there's a nice pool that's well kept up, a common room where you can brew a cup of coffee in the Keurig, etc. Read on for the fatal flaws. My wife and I came out to Palm Springs to join four other couples. We all wanted a reasonably priced hotel we all could stay at that was within walking distance of restaurants, bars, etc. One of the group saw the exemplary ratings the Rendezvous had earned (in the past) and suggested we make it our base for out trip. Indeed, there are tons of great reviews for the Rendezvous and it had won awards from Trip Advisor and such. It appears, though, that the place recently changed ownership and plummeted in quality in disastrous fashion. (And they haven't bothered to change their Business Info on Yelp. Do NOT expect any kind of breakfast, happy hour, or spa service as they do not provide these.) As a matter of fact, forget any review done prior to mid-2021. This place went from 5 to 1 star right around then. A list of the problems: 1) Lack of security. I won't go into this in detail, but anyone staying at the hotel could have gotten into anyone else's room anytime, day or night. Really. Had the hotel not been pretty much completely occupied by our group of five couples, we'd have left before our first night there. 2) Lack of anyone onsite to check people in, deal with problems, ask you how your stay is, etc. They appear to have tried to set up an automated system in which you download a photo of your driver's license and a selfie to deal with the requirement that they ID everyone staying at the hotel. Once that happens, you're supposed to get an access code to get into the hotel. Of course, we didn't. Fortunately, one of our group got that code from another guest. Really. The next day, I received a cheery text asking me how my stay was going. When I replied with a request for another room key, I received no reply. Until the next day when i got another cheery text asking me how my stay was going. (I didn't bother replying to that one.) At no point during our four day stay did we see anyone connected with the hotel except the person who came and cleaned the pool. 3) Smaller problems included concrete floors with no rugs. No creamer of any kind in the coffee area. A laundered but badly stained towel in our bathroom. A shower that didn't work in one of our friend's rooms (they were moved to another room after calling management). In fairness, there were positive. Decent Keurig coffee, a nice pool area with a clean pool and a firepit. Nifty room decor. And that's it. There's a lot more that was completely unacceptable about our experience here/ But when I wrote it up in Word and copied it here, I was WAY over the character limit. Suffice it to say that this place is awful. This is sad, because it looks like it was a hoot to stay at in its heyday, but that day is gone. Bottom line: You can NOT run a business in the service sector without providing service. Perhaps the Rendezvous is trying to run an entirely automated hotel the way that some fast food places are trying to go completely automated. Well big surprise: this does not work. It's a terrible idea and it makes it appear that no one really cares at all about the hotel or its guests. And yeah, room security really does matter. Mike sez do NOT check it out under any circumstances. Adding a quick update to this one. After our stay at the Rendezvous, I was sent a survey regarding my experience there. I answered honestly, explaining the issues I had and the overall poor management of the hotel. A day or two later, I received an email stating that the hotel management was sorry that they did not meet my expectations and that they would be following up with me so "we can better understand what happened and how to be of help". That email came 3 1/2 weeks ago and I have yet to received their followup. What a surprise!! (If I do get a followup someday, I'll amend this to include it.)

    Wonderful rooms!

How rare it is to find a place that has a solid five star rating, but Rendezvous deserves it! We've stayed at many of the wonderful boutique hotels in Palm Springs (EXPENSIVE ONES), and this is my favorite. It has everything that we desire and more! More than a hotel, it has a wonderful, charming B&B feel to it. So many sweet details... candy jars in the rooms, complimentary waters, coffee... The rooms - only ten of them - are very beautifully decorated in an Art Deco style. We chose this specific room the Silverscreen room, because it looked romantic to me... it has a large, beautiful jacuzzi tub. We got in late after 6:00 pm (our 3 hour drive became a 7 hour one, UGH), and we were relieved to find very easy parking out front and an easy self-check in. After settling in, we did a little exploring. There are wonderful places to sit around the pool, including a fire feature and jacuzzi. We went to the lounge and found chocolate chip cookies, a pop corn machine, oatmeal, and other munchies some of which we took back to our room. The lounge also has a multitude of dvds that you can choose from to take back to watch in your room. I picked two, and also a book from their library. Now this is why I say this is really more of a B&B because in the morning we were served breakfast from our charming hosts Wayne and David. You would expect cereal, maybe fruit, but here, they really do something substantial .... a three course breakfast! First, a blueberry smoothie with whipped cream (topped with love I'm told lol), a fruit parfait with blueberries and strawberries, AND a wonderful quiche with artichokes, spinach, sun dried tomatoes and cheese. I'm not a big quiche person, but I loved it and devoured mine, and considered taking some of Nick's who had absentmindedly left his within my reach. At 5:00 ish we rushed back to their social hour"/ Happy Hour where we were treated to a nice glass of wine and yummy sweet treats. One of the cool aspects of hanging out in the lounge is the opportunity to meet such interesting and kind folks- not only Wayne and David who work here, but the guests. Maybe we got lucky, but really enjoyed the people we happened to meet this trip. I am going to add more to this review later, but we are so happy with staying here, I wanted to write a review right away. xoxo

This should be a job posting to work at the hotel, cause you will be a non paid employee; like it or not. I choose this spot due to all the positive reviews, apparently there are new owners and things have definitely changed as of 9-9-2021 For starters, it's a bit desolate that includes staff and customers but don't fret as you'll pay the same rate as large hotels like the Marriott in Riverside at $130 per night. Also you can look forward to multiple texts to get you in the door and your work day begins by using the lock-box to get the key to enter the gate, then you'll also get more texts to push button unlock another door to get you into the hotel area and yet another to get into your room. Still no lunch break; you'll need to go back to the lock-box and put the key back in the lock-box for the next person's shift to start. Now that your on the clock, you'll need to sign in on your phone and agree to the regulations and rules plus you'll have to take a picture of your license and a selfie. You get to save the hotel money on paying staff to do all this work for you (wonder if they are even onsite at all or living off Yelp reputations from the prior owner) Now that your in the room, maybe your lucky enough like myself to sub par work done on the room in regards to paint and details. You'll also not have to worry about that pesky clock you need to wake up in the morning but alas the TV volume is soo low, you'll probably go to bed early since you can't hear the TV at 100% volume anyhow. You'll be told they look into it but I wonder if that's another non-paid employee's job cause they never fixed it. You'll also be on a diet, since FOOD is no longer offered due to Covid??? Cause I mean nobody eats during a pandemic right??? All in all if the price was maybe $60; might all be acceptable but soo many other places living on the 50's / 60's old Hollywood theme's, you'll probably find a better place. Side note: Those crowds that cared about the 50's/60's are dying off; so update to more current throw for 80's kids since that will be your new income if you survive.

BEWARE False Advertisement!!!!!! PLEASE DON'T STAY HERE... If i could leave negative stars i would this is the first review I've ever left and it truly saddens me to do so. I first found The Palm Springs Rendezvous back in 2019 where I have fond memories and actually had a wonderful experience. Back then the hotel was clean with fresh paint, fresh sheets& towels, clean rooms and hotel grounds were overall well kept with friendly staff to greet you. There was so much charm not only to the hotel but the amenities offered like nightly happy hour with snacks and a delicious breakfast in the morning( which wasn't "continental" but rather substantial). Clearly it's an old place but that vintage vibe can be charming and back then it absolutely was. Unfortunately what was a little gem is no longer that because this place atrociously has gone downhill. I was fully embarrassed because I brought my partner here wanting to share the good experience I had previously and it turned into a disappointing uncomfortable experience. We arrived on 3/18 and were set to check out on 3/20 but left the hotel 3/19 to another hotel where the cost per night was cheaper and accommodations much nicer and actually posh in comparison to the Rendezvous. We would've left way early on 3/18, but we were trying to "trouper through" the experience, but I personally reached my fill around 1am when I wasn't unable to sleep due to being so uncomfortable and Unfortunately it left us in a tough spot as finding accommodations that time of the night would be impossible so we were forced to stay. Sleep what's that because I didn't get any at all due to an impossible to turn off bright light shinning into the room actually all around the property as there was no one on site at all. I was extremely unhappy with the stay at the rendezvous and I will never go back. I've used the test system and emailed the hotel for a refund and I've had zero response. So not only was i stuck with paying for a hotel I didn't exactly stay in but no apologies from the hotel at all whatsoever. The positive reviews of how the hotel is now are complete false advertisement it's actually down right catfishing. Below I will list major issues I had with the conditions of the Rendezvous. I'll the issues are as follows: * A text system to "check you in" rather than an actual person. There was no staff on sight at all * Strong bleach smell upon entering the room (Room #8 the "Silver Screen" Room) The bleach smell remained throughout the entire stay even with all the windows being opened and numerous sprays of perfume and room spray to try and mask the smell. Sadly all throughout the night the smell persisted and actually ended up giving me a headache. * Stained and dirty towels hung up as new in the bathrooms * Blanket on bed had multiple mystery stains as well. * The light in the bathroom was so dim and horrible I could hardly get ready that night for dinner * Overall, the hotel is run down and very unkept.        *sign in front is falling apart and down * paint is peeling off in areas all over the hotel with lots of random unpleasant smells. Falling paint in an old establishment is actually a health hazard as much of the old paint in the past contained led and asbestos       * Found bits of fried chicken within the lounge chairs by the pool which were already covered with stains and dirt * The Jacuzzi was dirty and water was cloudy and made me itchy. After dinner I had put my feet in water but it being dark I was fully unaware of what I actually put my feet into until the next morning. I was utterly disgusted when I saw what I had my feet in the night prior * The lights outside of the room and all around the property were on all night we couldn't sleep, so at 1 am I walked around the property to see if I could turn it off myself but there was no luck. * Left sink in bathroom drained slowly and clogged  * Shower water slow to get hot        * Clubhouse areas with many dirt spots and dangerous broken glass slider. * overheard a convo about the cleaning people being angry they weren't being paid on time and had to front cost to clean the hotel. Well I don't even blame the cleaning people for not following any real cleaning standards because not being paid by a "hotel" contracting you to do so and they don't or not on time is unacceptable.

Oh boy, my first review doesn't seem to have stayed up. This property is ROUGH. We arrived and had issues finding our room as it was around this side of the building and not off the courtyard. The room looked okay by motel 6 standard. Although it did appear the door had been kicked in and had been replaced improperly. (See Photos) After bringing this concern via text because this property has no staff people physically available we were offered the honeymoon sweet which was far worse for the wear than our original so we chose to keep it, just figured we put the piece of a sectional they'd used as a ches in front of the door. Then at 10pm the power went out so we finally decided to leave. While packing up the car, neighbors who lived on the street told us this was a scheduled black out and they'd all been informed by the power company. No one told us. After requesting a refund the text help promptly agreed. It's been almost three full weeks and we have not gotten the refund.

Our visit at Palm Springs Rendezvous had some great things and not so great things. I'm really on the fence about this review for reasons you will see below, so I think a 2/5 is fair. Upon arriving during check in time, the gate was locked and we had to call to have someone let us in. We met Aurilia who is such a down to earth lady. We have no complaints about our hosts Aurilia and Anthony - they were fantastic and quite honestly the redeeming part of the visit. Both were cheerful and accommodating and made sure we were well looked after for breakfast time. Breakfast at the place must be booked the night before, and they try to work around any allergies, food intolerances and dislikes. Breakfast is a complete surprise until you are served - which I guess can be both bad and good. The complimentary hot breakfast portions are HUGE, in fact we had planned on eating lunch the two days and skipped in in lieu for an afternoon snack instead (yes, we were that full). While breakfast was good, the items are definitely not something I would normally have or order. We prefer to go a lot lighter in the morning. My husband loves sweets, and I love savory, so the alternating sweet and savory breakfast was a good compromise. The location is decent, and we had chosen this spot because we thought it would be nice and quiet for sleeping at night. There was unfortunately a perpetual traffic sound in the background which made it hard to sleep. The bed was ok, not the most comfortable, nor the least comfortable. The air conditioning worked well. The fridge/freezer was so incredibly noisy, again making it difficult to sleep. The room was clean-ish. It wasn't super clean, and it wasn't dirty. There was glitter all over the floor that seemed to track everywhere, there were faint stains on the bedding (it's not that it was dirty, it's those pesky stains that don't come out). The shower has a shelving unit with obvious rust, the clip to make your housekeeping choices was rusty as well. If you are looking for a nice hot shower, this is not the place for you. The shower is quite small, and you have to run the hot water tap only, which takes nearly 10 minutes to heat up (I'm not joking, I'm really not). The "hottest" the shower gets is just above luke warm, and don't even get me started on the lack of water pressure. The property wasn't full of guests, so I'm not sure why it was so hard to get hot water. The toilet has a slight running issue, but thankfully it only causes a faint noise. We did like the options to have the room fully cleaned, left alone or just the essentials. We did choose "just the essentials" during our stay, which was ok. The card indicated a basket would be left outside the room with fresh towels, water and treats. We did get the towels and water, but there were certainly no treats, so I can't vouch for those. I'm not sure if they still do the evening manager's reception as other reviews seem to mention - no one told us about it when we checked in and we didn't seem to notice anything like that during our stay. The grounds themselves are funny - the palm trees are beautiful, the pool is pristine and perfect. Unfortunately the rest of the grounds are in need of a massive overhaul. The stools and tables are tired, along with the raggedy outdoor carpet around the grounds. A fresh coat of paint would do the place well and the bar area is in desperate need of help. The sliding door to the breakfast area really should be replaced, it's definitely on its last leg. Fixtures around the the place look tired, and again a replacement would really spruce things up. Parking was ok. It was free, uncovered and unsecured. Unfortunately on our way out, there was a big amount of bird poo on the car, so we had no choice to hit the car wash before heading out of town. You can say this place has charm and it's supposed to portray the 50's era, but that also doesn't mean it should feel run down either. It also doesn't mean a hot shower should be an unrealistic expectation. I am hopeful the new innkeepers will turn this place around and give it a little more life it so desperately needs. We will keep our eye on an improvements, but in the current state I can't confidently say we would return. We have experienced better accommodations in Palm Springs for comparable pricing.

MY CATALYTIC CONVERTER WAS STOLEN HERE Catalytic converter ("CC") theft has been on the rise in the state throughout the pandemic. It's an easy form of income for thieves to make money on the precious metals inside. It's stolen via the open space beneath the undercarriage of your vehicle. On 09/26/21, I became a victim of this crime on the Rendezvous property. As a result, this left me and my girlfriend stranded in Palm Springs for an entire extra week while the auto shop sourced additional parts to complete the repair successfully. ___________________ In this process, the property owners and management originally made NO EFFORT to reach out to me regarding the incident NOR any form of apology. It wasn't until 09/29/21 AFTER I posted the original review did they reach out to extend full compensation for the two nights I stayed, plus a certificate to stay there another night some other time. ___________________ I became a prime target for this theft because the property parking lot has no outside lights-giving the thieves complete cover of darkness to do the job. Additionally, (no fault of the property) a wall on the main road encloses the parked cars from view from the street. Furthermore, should I want to serve justice to these thieves, no cameras face the outside of the property though there is a sign claiming that there is. FALSE ADVERTISEMENT. Overall, this is a warning for individuals who expect to park safely at the property. YOUR VEHICLE IS NOT SAFE. For images and video to consider: https://bit.ly/Rendezvous_CC_Theft ___________________ As for the actual review of the property, I stayed in #9 (Stagecoach). Generally, it's much more warn down than the photos suggest (as you should expect). Here's a list of other cons to consider: - The entire property (entry, pool area, common spaces) is littered with tiny gravel from the parking lot; when it makes its way into your room, it's a problem to get off. - The toilet is extra sensitive, and there was no working plunger. It would often become clogged despite following instructions. - Worn appliances-many with treatable rust. - Overall not completely clean. The pool needed treatment and cleaning. All the pool seats were cloth and had weird stains. Once these seats were wet, it made them not suitable for sitting in. - Staff: the guy who fixed our toilet brought in a plunger and let the waste water drip all over on his way out. DiSGUSTING. He did not offer cleaning it up. Pros: - Located not far from the downtown. - Quiet, not many people there (probably for a reason). I will NEVER recommend this place to anyone. And certainly not to you if you've gotten through this review. LOOK ELSEWHERE!

I definitely loved it here. It's super cute and relaxing my favorite things were the pools and of course the bath in our room. Outside area can be a little unsettling but it's because it's by apartments, peoples homes. But I felt like it was secure and safe. I wish they hand the breakfast but I believe because of covid they didn't. But they did have w coffee and tea. Great little retro get away and themes rooms I definitely recommend!

Beautiful and delicious quiche! Gourmet breakfast included with stay. Lovely

This is an incredibly special boutique B & B! If you want to escape and step back in time, this is your place! Each room is themed after a Hollywood legend or a legendary piece of CA history. You are transported to a different era. A relaxing happy environment with special details that elevate the experience. Happy hour is offered to guests each evening between 5-6pm and includes a classic cocktail served in a martini glass. An appetizer of the day is then served. You can sip and savor in the adorable lounge/breakfast room with fireplace (when appropriate, it is the desert) and soak in music of Frank Sinatra and other classics playing in background. (Sigh) Each morning you are greeted by a gourmet breakfast (chef's choice) and a refreshing homemade fruit smoothie served from a champagne glass and topped with whipped cream. It brings a smile to your face! One of the much appreciated details is the bedding! Wow! The beds are SO comfortable and THE SHEETS! These are special sheets! They are so luxurious! You just melt into their velvety softness. They are available for purchase in lobby. One other detail is the homemade brownie & cookie bites provided as an in room snack! Yummy, much appreciated little touch! The staff was outstanding! Friendly, hard working, accommodating and helpful. If you want a special getaway in a historic little boutique hotel that's quirky but wonderful, this is the spot!! Tip:for best rate: book directly from their website

We just returned from a glorious 4 day, 3 night stay. We were treated like royalty, from check in to check out. The service is impeccable. The attention to detail was spot on. The vibe here is perfect for people who appreciate the small things- like complimentary chocolate covered strawberries poolside, welcome glasses of wine and snacks upon arrival, and an amazing breakfast ( please check out my photos!). It's quiet, but not too quiet, the pool and jacuzzi are open 24 hours for thoughtful guests. 24 hours!!!!! Where do you EVER see that?? Loved that. They have fun floats and pool toys. My boyfriend and I got up to 200 volleys and we are pretty proud lol. The whirlpool soaking tub was my FAVORITE part, and it works perfectly and never ran out of hot water. THE ABSOLUTE BEST PART. And it needs to be mentioned that 8 out of their available 10 rooms have these whirlpool tubs. The website should emphasize this, because this commodity is not easy to find. The location is a bit of a distance from downtown, but we rented electric bikes in town- they were easy to use, went super fast, and we scooted around town checking out the mid century architecture, and using them as transport to catch dinner down town. Trust me, this is an option you don't want to miss. Lastly, the hostess was such a pleasure. She won't be in your business, just offers a helping hand whenever you need it. We left both of our phones poolside ( too many whiskey slushies) and they were safely returned to us. This was my second visit, and we will undoubtedly visit again. Please check out my pictures with descriptions, this is a highly recommended experience.

    Family friendly? Kid friendly?

    Not family or kid friendly.

Planning to go during July... Do the rooms have air conditioners, as well?

Yes, the rooms has a very quiet air conditioner, I was very pleased.

Anyone know what time breakfast is served?

Thank you for the inquiry. Typically, breakfast during the weekdays is at 9 am, and weekends you have a choice of seating at 8:30 am, 9:00 am, or 9:30 am. Again, thank you.

How is the guest policy? Can they still use the pool and hang out outdoor patio?

Guests can visit but the facilities are for the paying guests of the hotel.

    Is there a pool bar?

No, but you are more than welcome to BYOB and use our plastic glasses by the pool. There is a liquor store just up the street walking distance.

It says to save 10% click on the "check in"button, but we live 2 hours away and it won't allow me to check in. So how can I save 10% or get a promo code if we are staying out first time?

You can call them directly and let them know or you can mention your yelp check in on the day you arrive . They don't charge you until the end of your stay anyway.

From the moment we arrived, though, La Serena Villas made us feel completely at ease. The customer service was truly impeccable from check-in to check-out. Every staff member we interacted with was incredibly kind, welcoming, and genuinely pleasant to work with. When we arrived, we were immediately offered a prickly pear champagne beverage. After I mentioned that I'm allergic to alcohol, the staff instantly offered me a lavender lemonade instead without missing a beat. I'm usually not a fan of lavender-flavored drinks at all, but this one was so surprisingly delicious that when I checked out, I actually asked if they sold it. They don't, unfortunately, but they were kind enough to offer me another glass as a parting gift, which was such a thoughtful touch and perfectly captured the level of care and hospitality throughout our stay. The villas themselves were amazing. Everything was pristine, beautifully maintained, and spotless. The overall vibe of the property was quiet, peaceful, and deeply relaxing, which made it feel like a true escape. I genuinely enjoyed every moment I was there and am already looking forward to booking my next stay. La Serena Villas delivered an experience that felt both luxurious and personal, and I would absolutely recommend it to anyone looking for a beautiful, restful getaway.

The property is small but quite nice. Pool is kinda crammed in there, with fewer chairs than guests should the hotel be sold out, and it's right in front of the restaurant, putting your swimsuit ass on display for anyone looking to dine. But there is a spa past the "guests only" sign, away from the pool, so that's at least an option. Rooms are spacious and beautiful. Reminded me of a casita. Shower is huge and has great pressure. Pocket doors all around, nice. Hot tub in back is killer and having a fire pit next to it makes the backyard lounging even more inviting on a crisp night. Free breakfast is full of solid choices. Not-free food and drinks are good but, holy hell, is it overpriced. I hate that we're at a place where drinks are $20 on average for alcohol that hasn't been getting more expensive. I just drink less so good for me, I suppose? I got a surf & turf for $55 and it was flank steak and about 15% of it was fat. It came with three shrimp. Sad. Excellent service. Everyone was polite, accommodating, pleasant. No complaints there at all.

Very unfavorable and unexpected experience at The Monkey Tree in Palm Soring…read more Parking location was uncomfortable. Everything was dimly lit. General hotel layout was nice, felt vintage and was a refreshing twist. Room layout was interesting, tv was placed in front of the couch so you can't watch tv in bed. When first entering our room: 1. The two ceilings lights either flickered or did not turn on at all. The room was pitch black until we PLUGGED IN the closet lamp. 2. The bathtub was not clean, there were hairs. Bathtub was paint was chipped and the faucet was leaking as well. 3. The kitchen utensils were not clean. Forks, glasses and even the roll of paper towels were found dirty or used. The extra rolls under the sink were unwrapped. When coming to our room a few hours after check in, calling customer service (calling three times) took more than an hour, just for us to be told that the lighting and cleanliness issues will be solved in the morning. Was really looking forward to the experience but upon our first few hours, we felt unwelcome, uncomfortable and turned off of our whole stay. Especially when faced with the lack of cleanliness in the restroom, if our bathtub could be so apparently dirty, what else could they have missed? We were forced to spend the first few hours fixing up our room before starting to feel comfortable. This meant scrubbing the bathtub, washing every dish and checking every surface. With the lengthy and detailed check in process, we were really expecting a quality, travel worthy experience. Instead, it felt we were greeted with an unclean, uncomfortable welcome. As guests, it was made obvious to us that customer service was not at the forefront of our experience. Having decentralized customer service (through phone numbers and apps) made us feel so unattached from the actual experience.

I knew my gate code and room number prior to arrival. Upon arrival we were greeted by a very professional, enthusiastic and personable receptionist Linda. Then walked to our room as well as entering together, service above and beyond. Being adults only allows pool and hot tub to be enjoyed 24/7. The room was spotless and we even had complementary beverages and snacks. Beautiful landscaping and so many hummingbirds flying around! The staff was very friendly and attentive... :) Spent a lot of time in the pool, which is a little small. I do think that it would be great if they could provide water in the kitchen or by the pool like some other hotels do instead of having to go to your room to get water especially since it is so hot outside! The room, however, is somewhat subpar, i've definitely stayed in nicer rooms! The bathroom is small.. i would equate it to a motel. AC worked which was great. The room also had a fridge and a microwave, which was also handy.. The "breakfast " was ok as well. The hard boiled eggs we got were not good. It's basic so do not expect anything fancy. Cereal, bagels, yogurt. I did love that there was a coffee maker in the room! Would probably stay here again if the price was right...
