I would rate this place a 0 if I could. After my visit today I will NOT be returning. I "stopped" the bed early and it didn't actually stop which to my surprise highlighted the filth in this facility. I'm disgusted at the lack of cleaning provided!!! The dust is built up on the floor behind the door and on the door, on the table and under the table, in every corner including the walls. This makes me question the cleanliness of the beds that I use. read more

I haven't been here in almost two years and decided I was ready to get some UV after this ultra-cold winter we are having! The woman working let me know it was her first day at this location, so finding some items (like goggles) took a minute or two, but she was incredibly friendly and knowledgable. I asked, as a person who hasn't tanned in a long time, if I needed to do the Platinum package, and she was the first person to deter me from the package for the lowest one to build up my base tan. This really spoke volumes to me, because she pretty much saved me $50/month and was honest. I have been burned by some local tanning salons (pun DEFINITELY intended), but Desert Sun has made me feel comfortable and actually excited to tan! I have been going consistently since joining last week and every time I have been greeted by someone very bubbly, I have gotten clean beds and rooms every time, and I have always left with a sunny smile on my face. I am really glad I made the decision to start tanning here again! read more

So far using the new spray tanbets is a huge disappointment. There is nothing fun about natural feeling I feel slimy and wet And between going from 1 and 2 I just look like I'm dirty. Will not waste my money again. read more

I arrived at 5:51 on a Sunday and was told they were already closed. Your website and the sign on the door state 6pm. I understand you want to get off but I pay a shit ton for this service and expect to be able to tan during your business hours. Their is literally no excuse for this. read more

I wish I had read the reviews before I spent quite a bit of money on the Platinum level beds. Oh, did I say "beds", I mean't bed. There has been only one working since I started up. I will be looking for another salon next tanning season. I'm sure I will be able to find a salon with fully functioning equipment next season. read more

This is, by far the worst tanning experience I've had. I don't go often, truthfully it's been YEARS. Well, I had a need and got a deal for a month's unlimited tanning so I figured what the heck, right? Over the course of (not even) a month, I was hung up on several times while trying to make an appointment, which is pointless apparently since no one checks and will give your bed away. I had to wait past my appointment time since, as I already mentioned, no one bothers to check and gives beds away to walk-ins. A few of the beds are not in very good shape and I was disappointed every time I was put in one. Some of the staff is slow and clearly more interested in being on the phone. Getting towards the end of my month (and my need for tanning anyways) I called to make my final appointment. I was told that my month had expired the day before. Really? So starting a "month" on the 3rd will end on the 31st? That does not equal a month, especially when the package was "30 days." Not to mention, I had specifically asked when it expired on Monday and was told "two days.' Monday plus two days does not equal Tuesday. read more

Not a fan of this desert sun tan. I purchased a set of tans through a special they were running about a year ago. Since I wasn't living in the state at the time and there wasn't a desert sun near me, I was only using the tans when I would come back to WA for vacation. My last couple of visits went like this: Monday: Called to make an appt, was placed on hold and then hung up on. Called back, made an appt. Came in and purchased three sample lotions since I was told I had three tans left on my package. Tuesday: Called to make an appt, was placed on hold, waited about 2 min., finally the employee came back on the line (didn't apologize for keeping me waiting) made an appt. Before I left I asked the employee how many tans I had left just to make sure. Friday: Called and made an appt. (yay no one put me on hold this time) When I told them my name the employee told me that I didn't have any more tans left. I looked at her like she was crazy. I told her that couldn't be possible since I was informed both Monday and Tuesday the tans that I had left and that I wouldn't have purchased three sample lotions if I only had two tans left. Employee informed me that if I wanted to purchase one tanning session that it would be $30.00. In the end I worked out a deal with this employee but I learned my lesson and will now get it in writing each and every time I visit so that this will not happen again. The spray tanning machine is old and out dated. Water dropped from the top while I was on my drying cycle... which lead to a streaky tan. For $40 I expected a better tan than what I got. The voice on the machine was too quiet and the room was very dark... Would NOT recommend this location for spray tans.... read more

I just started going here and I like it so far. I bought a platinum level package, so I go in a bed that doesn't burn me, which is great because I have extremely fair skin. The staff has been fine, some better than others, but good overall. My only tip is to shop around for your lotions because they seem a little pricey, I found the same $120 lotion on amazon for $40. read more

Make sure you don't leave your stuff in the bed. A few months ago, I left my nice rings in the room and supposedly they were "never found". I went in to tan today, and guess who had my ring on, the girl working there!! I mean really girl, how dumb can you be. Don't wear them to work if you stole them from someone who tans there... If you are young & cute they might give you good deal or good service. But if you are middle aged they don't look at you twice. Depends on who you are, for what kind of service you get... I'm a paying customer too! & it depends on which girl helps you! Some are super friendly & others, it is obvious they don't want to give you the time of day! Went in tonight as a referral and could not believe how dirty the room was. The bed was also terrible. It was hard to close/open and made a awful sound. My husband has been using the gold beds and said that they are fine. But he also used a silver bed tonight and will not make that mistake again. read more

i came in last month wanting to purchase the $30 a month (enthusiast) package. Marissa suggested i pre-pay for an entire month instead (it was about $70 i believe) and she would add on a free month. since i was just starting out with tanning we came to the conclusion doing this would be better so that i could have two months on and see if it's something i'd like to pay monthly for. i bought 2 lotions, she gave me a percentage off of one of them since i was buying two. i had no issues tanning here until today, i call to make an appt and i'm told my month is over. i explained that marissa had added a free month for me since i was purchasing a lot. (i spent about $170 on everything) she just said "no that's not something we do" okay, how about you communicate with the employee who set this up for me instead of turn me away? i spent a lot of money here and for them to either a) miscommunicate with me or b) just throw their hands up and not accommodate me whatsoever for their mistake is not okay. i was supposedly talking to a new MANAGER too. when customers pay for services and are loyal to your company you should probably figure something out especially when you're a manager. i know for a FACT marissa added on a free month for me, because her EXACT words were "let's do this so you can have two months to see if you like it". marissa was really nice, but i guess i'll be taking my service elsewhere. read more

Went once a couple months ago the girl at the front was very rude and I did not enjoy this experience but since my sister and mom both go here I thought I'd come back and give it a shot.. NEVER AGAIN! I walked in and didn't see an employ for ten minuets finally the manager came up and complained about having to work and what she could do for me I wanted to ask a few questions she seemed annoyed and didn't have the time for it. The phone rang and she tried to talk to me and the person on the phone at the same time I told her it was fine she could finish the phone call but she just continued trying to get me to buy a package deal when I came in for the one spray while rolling her eyes at the customer asking question over the phone. Another girl came up and she asked if she could take over which she did and then they tried to match me with colors that I said I didn't want and every time I stated my opinion about what I wanted they looked at me like I was dumb. It was just very insulting the way they were treating me even for a manager! The manager had taken abunch of the mixtures and put them in her car and told me I'd have to pay her 3$ for it after I had already paid! What is going on here? I then wanted my money back after the whole ordeal they then said they could not do refunds so I said it's fine let's just get this over with I followed the "manager" into the back, she then grabs me by the shoulders and tries to 'apologize' holding me there. I told her that her and her employees need to work on professionalism and customer service and that I had been there longer then I intended as is. She then goes to say how it's my fault that I asked too many questions and that's why everything took so long... yeah right. You did not only lose my business but I can guarantee you lost my friends and family's business as well. read more

Avoid this location at all costs. Understaffed, unorganized and not friendly! Bulbs burnt out in the stand up, their Platinum beds are ancient. I would recommend Desert Sun crossroads or Hawks Prairie over this location any day! Don't waste your time! read more

Staff friendly, but, bulbs are not changed, beds not hot, or bulbs out. I prefer the Lacey crossroads location. Very clean, hot heds, bulbs changed regularly, and staff wonderful. read more

I gave this salon only two stars because I arrived at 7:43, requested a spray tan, and was told they stopped doing their spray tans at 7:40 - the bed had already been cleaned. The salon is advertised to be open until 8:00, but I was sent away over 15 minutes before they closed. The gal said her boss requires her to be out by 8:00 and there was nothing she could do. Seems like a lazy policy and a careless loss of revenue. In my business, if someone arrived before closing hours, they would be assisted. read more

This location has been one of my favorite places to go. Kristin has gone above and beyond to make sure every time I tan, I get what I want. I have heard her EDUCATE other people on all their services. She has allowed me to use her personal lotions to try so I did not waste my money on something that will not work. All the girls have always been so friendly and attentive. I would recommend her and this location to anyone and I have been tanning for years. read more

I wish there was another salon close by, because I would use it instead. I've been driving to Lacey and Tacoma to tan lately but it's a hassle. The girls have little to no personality and don't give you the full truth when selling you things. If you have a discount on your account they won't tell you about it. It wasn't until I went to a different salon that I learned I had these things on my account. They clearly just want to sell you things. I think there's maybe one girl who I like, and the rest make me cringe. They rarely have towels available to clean your hands of tanning lotion and more times than not there's still finger prints all over the beds. I hate this location! I used to go there a lot in high school (5-6 years ago) and it was good. But over time it has just gotten worse and worse. The service is HORRIBLE. Rudest people ever. They either just rant, wanting you to buy crap and then being rude and making you feel terrible if you don't. Or their gossiping and texting on their phones. Seriously, I've been in my room getting ready and heard them talking crap about customers. The beds and rooms are always dirty too. I've seen old sweat/lotions marks in the beds before and will never go back now. I highly recommend you never waste your money here. read more

I first went to desert sun in Seattle had a membership there for awhile, had a discount special $10 month unlimited tanning, can't beat that. So Nov 2014 I walk in they had a special for New client's one month unlimited tans, but I was but s new member, I still got a unlimited month for $35 and then half off a lotion. Ive been going about , every other day, and the manager is super friendly and helpful. Some of the other employee's are as well, or put a good front on trying. Reading other reviews I haven't had any dirty beds so far, this salon compared to the L.A tan down the way. I rather go to desert sun, they have better deals most of the time as well read more

I do not tan much, because I know that my skin doesnt need it... but I feel like everyone there is really nice. The only thing that bothers me is that prices change all the time, and then the girls work on comission, so i can never tell if Im getting a good deal. The Manager Tiffany is the best. She gave me excellent customer service all the way around. I was really impressed with all of the tanning options available and liked the space. Spray tan machine was TERRIBLE! Water was dripping on me the whole time and made me splotchy. You couldn't hear the women in the machine giving you directions. It was out dated and not worth the money. I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone, not even my worst enemy. No joke this place was bottom of the barrel. Do not go here. read more

I liked this place at first. Over the last year the place is going down hill fast. They had 6 silver basic beds and you could tan pretty much any time. 2, 3, 5 are all broken for over a month. 6 is the only one with a fan that works, 14, fan is busted that the bed is unsafe after half way through a full tanning session. They replaced 4 with a "therapy" bed that no one ever uses. I do no think anyone in management cares about this location or If there is a manager at all. I think that they are forcing people to upgrade to other level beds. The last time I was in, they were going to assign me @14 when they NO DARN GOOD AND WELL THAT THE FAN DOESN'T WORK. Tanning should be enjoyable and safe...doesn't seem they care. They care more about selling the overpriced lotions for commission rather than the safety of their clients tanning experience. I am going to cancel my account and go elsewhere. Last visit was the straw! read more

I wish I could give this no stars. I went to the one in Lacey years back and was disgusted by the place as well as the horrible service from the girls. My bf convinced me to go tonight as his referral to try it out as I moved over here on the west side and I currently drive to Lacey to a family owned local salon and he was trying to save me time and money. We were told basically there is no referral of one free tan even though we have the certificate to try each bed once that he was given upon him getting his membership. The girl entered all my info te finger scanned me and then asked what package I was purchasing? NOTHING! I came to give it another chance based on the free tan referral not buy a package. She was rude basically acted like we made the certificate up an did not know a thing about tanning. Nothing! The salon was dirty when we walked in and I'm appalled my bf even tans there! Yuck! And I sleep with this man after lying in their beds. Showers will be necessary from here on out. I will be taking him to my salon where I spend a good chunk of money for great beds cleanliness an great above great service. I will continue to drive 20 min each way several times a week just to have my money be well spent to a deserving salon owner that cares about its customers and salon and community.
