I was looking for a place to get a massage while in the Indio area, and was referred to Alicia from La Quinta Healing Arts on the Go. I found La Quinta Healing Arts on Yelp, but my schedule would not work out, so the wonderful person referred me to Alicia. She was great. She is attentive, gives just the right amount of pressure, and massages parts of the body (knees, feet) that other massage therapists ignore. While I would go back to Alicia, the ambiance of the Day Spa leaves MUCH to be desired. You don't walk into a tranquil spa at all!! This place feels more like a small retail shop, with loud music and is really focused on its tanning business. Don't expect a traditional spa-like environment. You won't get that. Also, to be a week ambiance, the massage was more expensive that I would expect. Not sure if the environment is worth $100 massage. If you can ignore the ambiance, and need a massage, go find Alicia! I was a first time customer at this spa, and my visit was absolutely fantastic. I was in town for only a few days looking for a quick facial and was able to find one just in the nick of time. When I arrived I didn't expect a whole lot due to the older building appearance. However, don't judge a book by its cover. This spa has ruined all others, permanently! My boyfriend and I booked an appointment here after comparing and contrasting with other spas nearby and decided on Desert Zen Day Spa because of the massage options offered and price. We were specifically looking for a couples CBD massage, and the reviews were good. So we booked an appointment, expecting just "good" massages. We weren't, however, expecting to each receive the BEST massages we've ever had -- hands down! We've each had pricy services at top resorts and across the world where massages are more sacred, and Desert Zen completely surprised us. For a fraction of the price, and out of a place you may not expect, you walk out feeling amazing. My masseuse, Jackie, really knew what she was doing and worked on areas she could tell were tense even when I couldn't. My boyfriend says that his masseuse (we can't remember her name, sorry.. but it starts with a 'D') was also excellent. We're so upset that we live two hours away and aren't able to come regularly for massages! I'm an avid spa-goer and have been getting massages for decades. I was in town for Desert Tour 2016 and after days of walking and standing and more standing and walking, my body needed some real help. I also rid a motorcycle. Think upper shoulders. I did a yelp search for a local massage spa and Desert Zen came up with some very good ratings. Well... those ratings weren't false (neither is this one). I easily booked myself an appointment with a very helpful and friendly person named Betty. No dramas at all! When I showed up, I found the place to be magnificent! It was beyond clean and new and organized. It was dialed in! My massage therapist, Jackie, greeted me with a very comfortable yet professional yet friendly energy and off we went. Deep tissue healing city! Desert Zen provided just what I needed. My massage experience was up there with some of the best in the land. Not the cheapest, but well worth it. If I were a regular, I would definitely look into package deals to trim the cost a bit. So, if you're in town and looking for a great place to call your massage home... Needed an appointment last minute, was glad they were able to take me on such short notice when my original spa cancelled on me the day before my appointment. This was such cheaper compared to the other one I was suppose to go to, so you really get what you paid for. Everyone was very nice from the front to back, great customer service. I got the signature facial and body scrub with mud. I've never had body scrubs before so I don't have experience to compare to, but it was mediocre, nothing amazing. They rubbed you with salt and cover you with mud, itched a little but my skin did feel smooth after. I have gotten Korean body scrubs before and I think that's much more effective in exfoliating your skin, and entire body. The facial started off well, they did extractions with exfoliating masks. I've had a lot of facials before and normally after all the harsh work they did on your face, you usually finish off with good skin care. Serums, moisturizers, sunscreen, lip balm etc. The facial service here just slapped on moisturizer and called it done. I got an add on service for paraffin wax for my hands, didn't feel any wax.. felt like they just covered my hands with a wet plastic bag. The price is decent compared to other spas, it costed about half of what I was going to pay for at a resort spa. But you do get what you paid for. read more

I have been coming to Desert Zen for a few years now. I usually just pay for a monthly membership as needed and go from there. I have left my lotions behind for months at a time only to realize they're still being held there for me when I come back. The staff is always friendly and the salon is nice and clean. Fun place and nice staff. Weez is owner. They have a sunless tanning booth that is NOT Mistic (crap that the staff can water down). The ladies here are really nice! I went here twice a few years back when it was under a different name... So today was my first time after they updated. I really liked my experience. I got a regular tan. There aren't a lot of places that still provide wipes for when you are done, so that was really nice to see! The prices seem really great compared to some of the resorts out here, so I'm sure people really like that! I love this place! I've gone to Jackie 3-4 times now and she is hands down one of the BEST massage therapists I've ever had (and I don't say that lightly!). Ashley has worked on me once as well & she was great too. Jackie really takes the time to listen to you and work on those areas of concern. I've been there on several occasions for waxing. I get the man zillion and my nose hairs waxed and have ben very pleased with the service. The young lady does an excellent job, leaving me hairless in the places I want to be. My friend and I both had facials and foot rubs. Their prices are good to low. My friend had a better experience than me with Mandy - she felt very well taken care of. My experience was okay, not great. Mostly I think the girl (Amanda? Not sure of name) was just disinterested. My friend and I both had the signature facials which are the mildest ones you can get at this spa. There was no problem with the facials, although 'their' blend of stuff applied to my face didn't smell fantastic (to me). I didn't think the gal who worked on me really was very knowledgeable about massage (shoulders, arms, neck, scalp) as there was nothing special about it and she neglected to massage my scalp and hands which was supposed to be part of the treatment. She also seemed to be wearing inappropriate clothes to work on a customer (fancy boots, sort of dressy clothes), which seemed rather strange to me. That may seem picky but actually someone who is serious about the work they do will wear comfortable appropriate clothes to do their job. I just felt like she wanted to be done and out of there. I have been a customer of Desert Zen for a couple of years and have never left there unsatisfied. I had the pleasure of having a wonderfully relaxing facial today with Jodi. I plan on having many more in the future. I also tan here. The tanning beds are good quality, ALWAYS clean and there is a wide assortment of tanning lotions. We had 4 massages - deep tissue, 2 therapeutic and 1 prenatal massage. The staff was friendly, attentive and professional. The rooms were clean, smelled great, had the perfect amount of relaxing light and music and were private (love!). Really like the questions you are asked to answer (one sheet of quick questions) before your massage begins so you get exactly what you want and all your needs are taken care of. Ashley was my prenatal masseur and she was perfect! I am a little sensitive to pressure during pregnancy (one of the questions on your survey) and she made sure not to do too much pressure but just enough! This was the best service I've had in a long time! Not only were they professional, they went out of their way to accommodate me for a last minute appointment. The place was clean, pleasing to the eye and offered a variety of services. Also, the price is right (important during these covid times). I had a Brazilian wax done by Ashley, and I have to say, she was as good -if not better -than my usual Brazilian wax lady (who is currently unavailable). Ashley made me feel comfortable (these types of waxes are awkward but a must lol), she was fast and efficient, professional and Made my experience better than what I expected. She did wear a face mask and gloves if that's important to you. Ashley is an absolute professional and she is likable, so I'm very thankful she waxed me. I had Nelda for the massage she was Wonderful and knew exactly were I had pain and tension. she gave me some good recommendations and my body feels great since then.
