Prices for some items are insanely expensive compared to other Indian stores which are few miles away. Ex: 20LB laxmi sona masoori rice bag is $23 at this store and $15 at Trinetra which is like 5 mins drive away from here. I didn't expect this huge price difference. I have been coming here from 4 years and took so many groceries including sona masoori rice bags and owner also recognizes me as a regular customer. After I got to know about this when I went and asked him, he first of all didn't expect that I will ask him like that and he didn't know what to say. He just offered me for a refund for one bag I took week before which I declined and walked out. Safe to say, I won't be going to this place from now onwards.

Stale Indian sweet ladoo. Avoid it.
    Grease Monkey ..

Stale food with no "sell by" dates on the boxes. I purchased a box of Indian sweet ladoo for my wife today and it was stale and was unfit for human consumption. She was very disappointed. Avoid buying sweets from here that are packed in plastic containers with no sell by date stickers. Wanted to support this local business, but was very disappointed to find they don't care about quality of the items they sell. I suspect they intentionally avoid putting sell by date stickers on food items. What a shame.

The farm sits at 2 acres and boasts a variety of fruit trees, some bee boxes, a small flower garden, and a very well stocked farmstand. The stand has a variety of in-season fruits and vegetables, starter plants and herbs (they had tomatoes and strawberries when I visited in April), and a bunch of locally made and seasonal goods. Not everything comes from the farm, but they source from other farms in the Bay Area and state, and local businesses. They also work with local businesses to use their produce for fun products like jams, cocktail mixers, and dried fruits. They have tours and events at the farm, we got a tour when we went and it was really cool to learn all about the history, see the different fruit trees, and then of course visit the farmstand after and shop around.

I finally got the chance to visit this local fruit stand and it really didn't disappoint. It's…read moretucked away in a really nice, quiet cul-de-sac in a clean neighborhood behind Branham High School on the south side. If you live in the Almaden or Branham area, it's such a cool little hidden gem and definitely worth stopping by. The fruit looked super fresh, though the prices are higher than I expected, more like Whole Foods level prices. I thought going straight to the source would mean much lower prices, but what you lose in price, you definitely gain in freshness. For example, their strawberries were $5 per little green basket (three for $15), which comes out to about $5 a pound. At Costco, organic strawberries are $5.49 for 2 pounds, roughly $2.75 per pound. The giant seeded watermelons were $12.49 here, compared to $6.49 at Walmart. (Suggestions from a visitor) A couple of friendly suggestions that I think would be really helpful: It would be great if they posted online what fruit is in season and what will be at the stand, along with the prices. That way people can plan ahead and know when to make the drive when their favorite fruits are available. Also, there are no signs letting customers know they can go in the back. I only knew because I saw pictures on Yelp. Locals who've been here before probably already know, but as a first-timer, it looked like an employee-only area so I didn't go back there. A simple sign would be awesome, it would bring more people to the back to sit, eat, and enjoy the space since most fruit stands don't have that nice extra feature. Overall, worth visiting if you don't mind paying a bit more for freshness.

As I was pushing the cart out, an employee at the front who appeared to be supervising checkout/customer service, pressed a button that abruptly stopped my cart. The sudden stop caused the bar of the cart to hit directly into my stomach. I am currently 8 months pregnant, and this was not only painful but incredibly alarming. Instead of checking if I was okay or offering any help, the employee walked over and began yelling at me. What's most upsetting is the complete lack of care or basic human decency. I was not moving quickly she could have simply asked me to stop. Using a mechanism that physically stops a cart without warning is dangerous, especially for pregnant women or anyone who may be more vulnerable. I left the store in tears and completely shaken. This experience felt careless and unsafe, and I truly hope the store reevaluates how situations like this are handled so no one else has to go through something similar.

I needed celery for my stuffing recipe and yams for my candied yam recipe. Every fall they get the "Diane Yams", which are the best. They are a dark reddish brown on the outside and dark orange in the middle. They are sweet and delicious. I have never found these yams anywhere else. I buy them from Lunardi's every year. I got the items I needed and headed to the checkout. The line moved fast. The young man helping me was very nice. I went home and briefly looked at my receipt and noticed I was over charged for the celery and the yams. I was actually charged for sweet potatoes which are a pale orange color and they were $1.00 more a pound than the Diane Yams. I called the store and explained the situation. I had to return to the store and get back in line to get refunded. Abby, who helped me with my refund apologized and said the guy helping me usually works the late shift. They should do a little training on the differences between the yams, sweet potatoes and regular potatoes. A $1.00 more a pound is a lot especially when you have bought a large quantity. Now for the celery, I got charged for the blue tagged celery when my celery was clearly a red tag, which was on special. Not even sure how you get those colors confused. Next time I will check my receipt before I leave the store.
