We had a nice visit to Etminan Market. We had walked by there a few weeks ago, noticing that they had a BBQ setup. The owner let us know that they BBQ kabobs on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. We came for an early dinner on a Friday night. We both ordered the kabob combination plate, which was around $23. It comes with a chicken kabob, a beef kabob, and a couple of bbq-ed tomatoes over rice. It was fun to sit outside and watch as our dinner was being cooked. The woman owner also came by, and brought us some sumac to add to our cooked meat, and also a couple of complimentary cookies. It was a really nice experience. Felt very much like I was at a family barbecue, sitting outside and watching the owner grill meat. This market has an interesting selection of Middle Eastern foodstuffs, and I would come back if I were going to pick up some meat for my own barbecues at home. I've been going to this market since last year for when I need ingredients for Persian cooking. The employees are sweet and polite. It seems like there are usually just a couple of people manning the store so they're often in different sections, but if they see that you're waiting at the checkout line or butcher section then they'll make their way over quickly. The store is small, clean, cozy, easy to navigate. Everything is in place and well-organized. So far all of the products I've bought from here (spices, veggies, meat) have been of good quality: nothing moldy, old, or containing bugs (this happened to me at some other stores). A final thing to add, since it was a holiday (4th of July), I made sure to call in beforehand to make sure that they are open. They answered promptly and politely, they let me know that they're open until 2 PM. read more

Last week we bought boneless thigh chicken. While buying I noticed that very small quantity was left in the shelf. Once at home, started feeling a strong smell of the chicken and I suspected that it may be a stock from previous day, but thought the smell woo go away after cooking. Hours listed on yelp say they close at 7 pm, we stopped by on our way back to Sacramento, and arrived there at 5:45, to find the store to be closed. So it was not even 6pm yet, and they were already closed. The hours on their door said they close at 7 pm as well... so I don't know how the market is, but I do know the hours aren't reliable so call before trying to visit. read more

Noelle's Yelp Notebook 2017 Etminan Market is my favorite local Middle Eastern grocery store. Their first location is no longer around because the shopping center where they were located was burned down in a fire - this was rather unfortunate as there were many other spots in the same shopping center we would frequent like Dona Maria and Bibo's. The new location of Etminan Market is much closer to our home and we just love the new location. It's bright and spacious. There are fresh fruits and vegetables, a few organic selections as well. A huge selection of dried goods- flour, spices, canned goods.They have an amazing selection of breads and pastries. This is where I purchase my nazook and raisin cookies locally (short of us visiting these spots bakeries in Southern, California). They will offer Halal meat in their butcher counter (coming soon). They have a deli section separate from the butcher area where they offer sandwiches and sandwich meats - all Halal. If you're looking for dairy, refrigerator and frozen items they have one long wall filled with more goodies than one could ever imagine. My favorite is the Golnazar Persian ice cream - they have regular size containers, ice cream sandwiches and then the large sizes for parties. I like how they offer a good selection of home goods- large pots and pans, tea sets- with cups (very beautiful) and wrapping paper for gifts. They sell kinder candies at a very reasonable price. On my most recent shopping trip I picked up two boxes of nazook, kinder candy eggs ($2.99 per piece), Persian currants so I can bake Shirini Kishmishi and a few other items. I highly recommend this grocery store because it has an amazing selection of middle eastern groceries, fresh fruits and vegetables. The prices are competitive and the customer service is friendly and welcoming. If you are looking for a great goat meat in the bay area, stop by here. Tried meat from three other highly rated halal stores. In every way, their meat is the best. No smell at all. Fresh, tender. With their meat, prepared biryani and mutton curry, both turned out way better compared to all my past attempts. For cooking I didn't change anything except the goat. I choose to go to Etminan market because it's organized and clean. The type of meat sold at most middle eastern stores are used for traditional cooking therefore upon entering the store you might sense a strong meat smell. Edward has organized his store strategically so the weather elements such as sunlight and the temperature difference from the door staying open doesn't affect certain products such as bread. I don't remember ever buying moldy flat bread from Etminan Market. This store can be pricier compare to other stores, but the cleanliness and the quality of product worths the extra money. In my opinion he kitchen tools and accessories sold at this store provide higher quality and upper class feeling. I absolutely love the Hispanic lady working at this store, she's super kind and I love having conversations with her. Wish everyone at store would have a nice attitude. We won't be shopping there any more because in the past few months they've raised their prices so much. They're 40 to 50% more than the other stores nearby. They also don't have the big selection they had before, I wonder why. Their center is crappy. Access to the center & parking is very challenging. They're next to a bar with weird drunk people hanging out in front of the store. At the moment the bar is closed but when they reopen it'll be the same thing. Chuckee cheese on the other side is closed as well & it looks unsafe in the back. If they don't adjust their prices, they will loose a lot of customers. read more

We got Kabobs and warm food from Etminan Market and OMG the ground chicken Kabobs were absolutely delicious, good rice and also the stews (Fesenjan and gheymeh bademjan) was absolutely delicious. We will definitely be back for more! read more

Came here on 7/29 with my husband. This market is very clean and organized on the inside but we tried to get meat from the back and some dude was being so lazy. He was sitting watching tv on one side and we asked to be helped and he simply said it wasn't his area. He lightly called for someone else and no one came so we left. Super rude. read more

Great little market that seems to have just about everything you need for a quick stop. We are crazy about their nazook. They're not like grandma's but they are the best you can buy in a store. We picked up a new tea kettle too, not because we need it but because that's what Middle Eastern people do (yeah, don't ask). We didn't get a chance to try the deli but we did notice that the selection would satisfy even the most FOB customer. If you like imported goods, this is your place. They have reopened newly at this new address. I have visited the new store for the first time. My first expression was "WOW", nice, big, bright, clean and very organized. Potentially new favorite deli, I called asking for a speciality product the day before, and they only had half the amount I needed so they assured me they would have more product the very next day. They got more of what I was asking for and without me even asking they held on to the product I asked for from the previous day AND set it aside especially for me and had it ready for me when I arrived.
