The produce is great, but unfortunately the website is a hot mess, which makes it really difficult to order and make changes. It locks you into a 4 week pre-paid delivery. If you remove items during your subscription, you still pay for those items. If you add on, you pay extra. There's no replies to my emails. Other than that I really enjoy the delivery, but the lack of customer service is a bummer. read more

I signed up online for a Family Farm Share 6 week option for home delivery, to test drive the service, but after my first delivery, I'm so excited that I'm pretty sure that this is going to turn into a long term commitment for us. Here are my impressions: -The website was easy to navigate. -Email communication was great (they even sent me a notification when my order was dropped off at my door)! -They have flexible options for how much you can order/when/pay as you go. -They allow you to designate when you are on vacation (to hold delivery). - I love the add-ons (I got the eggs and bread). -The veggies look and smell great! I order the half family farm share ($16.97) delivered every other week with a super convenient pickup right by my house. I was a bit skeptical to try a CSA again after my experience with Farm Fresh, but I was pleasantly surprised by Freshness Farms. The veggies and fruit look like they were just picked from the tree or plucked from the ground. The half share is plenty of veggies for me every other week, and it actually lasts for two weeks keeping them in my airtight drawer in my fridge. Also, for my second delivery, I received a completely different set of veggies and fruit, unlike Farm Fresh that sent me the same thing a few times in a row. I feel like a chef needing to figure out creative new ways to cook all these veggies I wouldn't normally eat, and now I'm eating more veggies as a result. I've even dropped a few pounds already incorporating more lovely veggies in my diet. I do wish it came with a bit more fruit. With a half CSA, I've received a few mandarin oranges or just one grapefruit so far. So if you expect more fruit, either go for the full share or you can add-on additonal fruit for $5.25. For the Paleo diet that I'm on though, I guess it's more about the veggies anyway! I also just added eggs from Glaum egg ranch to my order, and love that they are organic and free range eggs for $5.77. They were all pretty, uncracked and delicious. To pickup, I just go to my local pickup spot that's actually someone's house, and they leave my share labeled with my name in a tupperware outside. The local pickup option is free with quite a few locations along the southern peninsula to south bay. If there's not one nearby, it's $5 for delivery to your door. If there's something you don't like, you also have the option to specify, and you do this by going to 1) Account, 2) Settings, 3) Change, 4) "Change contact info and mailing address," and 5) Packing Note: And you say things like "NO: White Potatoes, YES: Kale, leafy greens." I know not the most intuitive or modern web site, but they do actually deliver an awesome variety of fresh, local organic fruits and veggies! I can't wait to try their local, raw honey and almonds next. P.S. Checkout their Facebook page too. I love getting fruit shares and veggie shares everyother week! Not only is it the best fruit I can find in the Bay, I get introduced to new fruits and veggies that I would never know to buy. It's all picked and ready for pickup. Last week, we received cactus fruit which I would never buy. It's so beautiful on the inside!! (See pic) Tasting it brought me back to Vietnam. It taste like dragon fruit and a similar color. What a treat on this cloudy Monday morning. The only downside of CSA shares is that I am more reluctant to buy fruit and veg from the super markets now. Its sad when fruit and veg look shiny & vibrant, but becomes a chore to finish. I never thought I will be amazed by a produce business before, but this place has changed my mind. My favorite thing about this business is their quality on their produce and products. I got my first delivery two weeks ago. Great fresh vegetables delivered to my door: Kale, Chard, Spinach, Broccoli, Asparagus, Carrots, Celery and I added a loaf of German Bread from a local bakery and a bag of local fruit (got lemons, grapefruit, oranges). All veggies were organic and all fruit was local. I have signed up for every other week and expect a delivery tomorrow. I added an additional loaf of bread and a few other vegetables for tomorrow. I used everything sent to me, no waste. Everything was in perfect condition and I supported local agriculture and local people. And I did not have to go to a store! Perfect for now. I subscribed because I want to eat seasonal local veggies and fruits. There are a couple others out there but this is the ONLY ONE I found that is TRULY LOCAL, TRULY SEASONAL, and is a well-run local small business. The competitors all seem to be "big box" CSAs (didn't even realize that was possible lol) that's are not really all local or seasonal. I got the 1/2 veggie share every other week. I started Freshness Farms after having tried BOTH Farm Fresh to You and Planet Organics and Freshness Farms blows both places out of the water. PROS: - VARIETY: Different size bags - depending on your need. You can have fruit/veggie, fruit only, etc. - ADD-ONS: are amazing - Esther's German Bakery Bread and Snacks as well as Glaum Eggs (which are cheap!) You can even add on extra fruit! - JUICING BAG - this is an amazing big FILLED with tons of juicing fruits and veggies. HIGHLY recommended - CUSTOMER SERVICE is AMAZING. I have been dealing with Nasim since I started and she has been nothing short of amazing. Whenever I had issues with a bag (something missing, etc), she took care of it right away. I've never had customer service that was to the level she provides. - QUALITY: Nothing is ever old - everything is fresh and taste delicious. CONS: The only thing I can think of is their web system is a little old compared to others, but they're working on that now. Once they finish that they will be 100% perfect. BOTTOM LINE: I highly recommend Freshness Farms, I've searched everywhere for juicing bags and very few companies provide them. Plus, for the amount of fruits/veggies you get plus the add-on options, it really is the best value around. You can look around, but I'm sure you won't find a better value. Currently I am doing a juicing bag and a fruit bag with extra fruit and eggs as add-ons. For about $60/week my family of 5 (2 kids under 4 years old) have more than enough - I go to the market maybe one or twice a month to get things I don't get in my bag. We receive the small bag each week, and it's a really nice selection of fruits and veggies for 2 people. (We did our trial with the large bag, and it was too much for us.) The customer service is superb; I really like that you can choose the weeks you would like delivery and easily go online to do a vacation hold. My favorite part about this service is that I know that the produce is from local farms and super fresh- which means it's healthier for me. The recipes included in the bag each week are really helpful if you don't know how to cook what you've gotten. Also really great- the eggs and honeycomb (YUM!) that you can add for delivery. About a year ago a gentleman randomly walked into our office and dropped off a tiny basket of fruit, compliments of Freshness Farms. At the time we were using another vendor that was okay. And then moved on to another vendor (a well-know grocery store) and then finally we gave Freshness Farms a try. Let's say if we could we'd order more every week. This vendor is reliable, provides excellent produce, delivers dairy products to us and did I say consistent & reliable. This week we got the green plums, so delicious. The cucumbers and avocados add a nice variety including the guava fruit and other not so common fruits when in season. Love the baskets. They use to partner with a German bakery, wish we could get more of that freshly baked sweet bread, cheese sticks and homemade protein nut bars. Highly recommend Freshness Farms. read more

I've been using Freshness Farms for corporate fruit basket delivery and have been very impressed by the quality, customer service and caring way in which the business is run. It's so rare to work with a company that really seems to care, but they do. I'd used a different company previously & had a bad experience (bruised fruit, late or missing deliveries, billing issues). But since changing to Freshness Farms, it's been amazing - employees have been consistently happy with the product, I get the invoice via email and the deliveries arrive when they're supposed to. Nasim is such a pleasure to work with and easily sets up corporate accounts. Our delivery request was very complicated and involved 50+ sites, but they pulled it off without a hitch and with a smile. I signed up for a half vegetable delivery and service was helpful and friendly. Even half was a generous amount and vegetables seemed fresh and healthy. There was a fair amount of seasonal variation like fava beans, fresh peas, fennel etc, which I would normally not think to buy myself. Just received our first "share" from Freshness Farms. We have been happily anticipating our first bag of farm fresh produce for that past week and we were not disappointed! I can't believe we didn't try this sooner! With our lives so bombarded with work, there is never a time that we can get to a Farmers Market. As it turns out, this is an even better solution! For under $25 we got a dozen FRESH delicious eggs, a huge head of romaine lettuce, spinach, purple kale, a large butternut squash, celery root, 2 big daikon and super sweet mandarins and apples. I am confident that I would have paid at least that much at the local store - probably more. PLUS, it's a little bit of surprise to see what they have in store for you. You might get to try something you would never have thought to buy in the past, like daikon (Asian radish and quite delicious). Customer service has been excellent so far. VERY personalized service. TINY local company - LOVE that! It's all about feeding the body in the healthiest way possible! Eat MORE fruits and veggies free of pesticides and locally grown. :-) My only complaint, which isn't really a complaint about the company, is that I sadly got in at the very end of the season. My fault. :-( So alas, I only get 1 more share this year and then have to wait until February, when the season starts over. On the plus side, we are out of the country for some of that time anyway. I started getting produce from Freshness Farms a few months ago when my company partnered with them. It is incredibly convenient to get my weekly fresh produce delivered right to work and not have to worry about shopping for it on the weekend. It's also very affordable and a great value. It's nice to have the variety of vegetables that I would not normally buy. It's also great to be challenged to come up with new recipes and use for everything. I opted to purchase 'extra fruit' with each of my weekly deliveries. However, I am disappointed in the quality of the fruit lately. As strawberries are in season right now (summer), the fruit it typically strawberry... which I love... but the quality is sub par. I have been throwing half of the fruit away immediately upon inspection because it is too mushy to consume. When I sign up for my next 6 week delivery cycle, I will definitely not be getting extra fruit as it's been a huge waste of money. I feel like Goldilocks when it comes to CSAs. I am on my 3rd one, and while I've always liked the experience nothing quite fit right until I found Freshness Farms. There are only 2 of us and we are not vegetarians, just a couple that likes eating fresh and seasonal and to reduce our meat consumption. We both also really love fresh fruit. Here is why Freshness Farms is perfect for us - The half share gives us a reasonable amount of food to cook through in a week without having waste. This was something I was really feeling guilty about before, even when I was splitting our half share from another farm with a second couple. - There is good week to week variety so we do not feel like we are eating peas every week for 6 weeks (they are delicious, but it gets old). - The quality of the produce is excellent. - I love being able to add extra fruit, and that the fruit that I get extra is different from the fruit that is already in my veggie share. - Everything is online so any changes to the subscription can be made at any time. - Ability to add fresh farm eggs (at any time). Again it's just the 2 of us so we probably need a dozen every 3rd week or so but as long as I add a few days before delivery, it not an issue. Also available - honey, baked goods (including GF option). - Lots of delivery locations and an option for home delivery for $5 extra a week. Love love love!!!! I love Freshness Farm's vegetables. The vegetables are superb. Words to describe are: crisp, sweet, juicy, nice fragrance, crunchy. Not only they FRESHLY pick the ORGANIC produces, but they knows how to grow or select the TASTIEST produces. Even though I go to Farmer market every week, I still get their 1 or 2 bags of Farm Share every weeks, eggs, bread and snack and sometimes fruits. They also deliver very healthy bread and snack for me, so I don't have to drive all the way to get Esther bakery's products. I rely on them to get fresh, organic and free range eggs also. I hesitated to use a produce delivery because I did not think we would be able to eat all of it. When I saw the 1/2 bag option and that I could add a loaf of Esther's Bakery bread, I was sold. I really look forward to my weekly produce delivery from Freshness Farms. With recipes included, I have no trouble finding creative ways to prepare the local, seasonal fruits and vegetables. My kids loved the spinach and strawberry salad we made last week, or the potato salad with arugula, radishes, and celery. I've been getting fresh vegetable/fruit deliveries from Freshness Farms for 2 1/2 years and it has transformed my family's meal planning! I've learned to cook with whatever bounty is in the week's delivery (they include recipes plus the internet is a great source!) and love the double benefit of eating better and supporting local farms.
