I had high hopes for working with Sina, particularly based on the reviews here. He has a nice design aesthetic and I liked how he moved through the early process. He seemed very professional. Among other things, we were designing our front yard fence and adding a stone cap around the top. I assumed that I would have choices for the stone, and yet when I asked Sina, he seemed put off that I would want more than 1 choice, and said he would "send me" to a stone yard. I was surprised that I would be sent alone to make such a big decision, but I brushed it off. When his team began the project, we hit a small road bump on the first day. The earthquake sensor was triggered on our gas line due to the work they were doing, and unfortunately needed replacing. Nothing major, and while his team did try to fix the issue, we eventually had a plumber come fix it. I suggested we split the modest cost. The next day, instead of discussing that he disagreed with me and trying to find a new solution, he showed up with a check and canceled the job. They mostly completed one task (irrigation), though didn't even fully do that. I texted and called him later to ask that he please complete the irrigation by installing the controls and not have irrigation lines sticking out of the ground. I never heard back. To make matters worse, I realized a few weeks later that a plumber's wrench was missing. I need to change our home water filter and, since this was where his team was working, they may have accidentally taken the wrench. No big deal, but upon texting Sina to get the wrench back, he, yet again, never got back to me. The long and short - I have no doubt the work would have been well done, but working with Sina proved far more difficult than it was worth. read more

Update, July 2024 - we are still very satisfied with the work that Design Scapes did to transform our hillside. We use our terrace practically every day for gardening and relaxation. It's a great little urban oasis and it was definitely worth the investment. A year or so after Sina completed our hillside stairs, we noticed some rust and corrosion in the metal handrails they built alongside our stairs. We notified Sina, and he quickly sent a team out to repair some welds and repaint the rails. They look good as new, and he did not send us a bill. We did 2 projects with Sina at the same time. One was done on time and was exactly to our specification (even though we changed our minds once the project started as is sometimes the case when you start to see it come together). Sina was always available with ideas, feedback and keeping us up to date. The other project was delayed through no fault of Sina's. The material he ordered came in damaged. He took care of it completely and rescheduled his crew to come back once the material was received. I didn't have to fight with anyone over damaged materials and he didn't even ask me to accept sub-quality. He just rejected it immediately and took care of the problem. Both projects were beautiful when finished. I am very happy with the quality of work. I have worked with many contractors. I can easily say that Sina is one of the best. He is amazing because he does exactly what he says he will do... follow up calls, shows up on time, sends detailed work plans, etc. Seems like a little thing but if you've worked with contractors, you know that's rare! I can't express how happy we are with Sina's work. He is extremely professional and reliable. He was always at the job site when needed. And he clearly went the extra length to get our work done. One of the things we needed done was adding mesh to a quarter acre property around the Fenceline. Sina's team made sure to dig down over a foot under the dirt to make sure our animals couldn't get underneath it. He made sure The mesh was tied tightly to the fence around the entire property line. His work was very clean and he did not disrupt any of the plant life. He is extremely knowledgeable about landscaping and plant life.
