    The Delite Bakery neon sign.

While heading out to Lake View Cemetery my friend wanted to stop by this little mom & pop bakery called - Despi Delite Bakery. What can I say about Despi Delite Bakery? Nice little bakery featuring some traditional Filipino baked goods, as well as traditional Americanized baked goods, & beautifully decorated cakes. So what kine bakery grindz did we pick up? We picked two boxes of Siopao, one filled with chicken, and the other filled with pork. What is a "Siopao"? It's basically the Filipino version of a manapua. Only difference is the filling also has like an egg yolk mixture, mixed with the meats. Very tasty, not too much different from da local style Chinese manapua. We also picked up some rolls, chocolate glazed donuts, and a (custard) Leche Flan. Service here was on point, as the single clerk managing the ordering counter was friendly and efficient. There was quite a bit of foot traffic in this bakery, so it was nice to see a small neighborhood bakery doing well. The next time I'm in Seattle again (if I'm in the neighborhood), garans I'll stop by Despi Delite Bakery to try more of their bakery selections.

Really nice selection of bakery! I wish perhaps they had a few more dairy free options but that's hard to do with a lot of these. The cakes looked particularly good! The lady behind the counter was polite and very efficient. It was quite empty but we were there around 4 on a Tuesday so not exactly busy time. For ambiance there's not really anywhere to sit so it's grab and go! The street parking is a little competitive too.

My family frequented this bakery growing up and not much has changed in terms of quality. They are still serving up large pastries as early as 730am, and their cakes are pretty good too! I will say sometimes the cashiers take their own tip when giving you your change back so you may want to watch for that. Our favorites: glazed twist, chocolate hole, maple/bacon, and pizza croissant.

My favorite spot for sheet cakes and donuts! I've ordered here for years, the sheet cakes are wonderful, favorite flavor combo is ube with coconut filling, they use a light whip cream frosting. It's always a hit at all parties we host, I sometimes buy a quarter sheet just to enjoy when there's no birthdays happening haha. Their donuts are so yummy, love the maple bars, the dough itself is super soft and very fluffy. Easy to eat a ton, so be careful. Only thing I wouldn't recommend is their individual sliced cake. Me and my friend just got the ube slice and coffee slice, they're rectangular, but the frosting was very very stiff, crumbled, and had a fake butter flavor/texture. They were nice about it and refunded the cake slices. But heads up, the individual slices DO NOT taste like the sheet cake. Not the same frosting. Besides that, high recommend their cakes and donuts and fresh breads!!

Mini "ube" rolls - tastes nothing like ube but still delicious. ($4.49 for a bag of 8)

Tried even more items from here and they are ALL INCREDIBLE. And so authentic. The owner is such a sweetheart :) Empanadas, Turon, and Ube Rolls were all incredible, and it's super fresh if you get them straight from the bakery. $11 for all the aforementioned!

My mentor recommended this spot. He aint event Filipino! Had to try this myself. AMBIANCE: Parking: Mainly street parking. We didn't have issues finding a spot. Seating: There are standing tables/counter for a few people. Feels: Beacon Hill is a grit and grind area with some old town feels but up and coming progressive efforts as well. Close to the rail station and other eateries as well. The spot itself is nice, you can't miss it. It' a pretty bright place from the lighting and windows. You're welcomed with the smell of fresh baked goods. Great for a grab and go or if you need to slow down from the hustle and bustle of the Seattle city scene. FOOD: Ube Cake (Recommend) Excellent purple presentation with sneaky wonders. Soft bread, not too sweet and the surprise was the cream on the inside. The icing game was a little too strong for me in my opinion. But overall comforting. CUSTOMER SERVICE: Great! Friendly, helpful, and quick with the service. TL; DR OVERALL: 4.5 Stars. Great! Plenty of selections, reasonable prices, and deeeelightfully delicious. It's nothing special or must but a comforting local bite made with love. For Filipino or usual baked goods, check this place out! #FilipinoFoodMovement TIPS: * This is no hidden gem so come early! * Be sure to check out their other location: https://despidelitebakery.com/

I tried the mini ube bread, fried mochi ball (delicious but super chewy), crossiant, pig in the blanket and apple fritter. Nothing stood out. Tip: Grab a day-old bag if you come early if you don't mind reheating at home

I can't believe how many goodies we got for such a cheap price! You cannot find prices like these in Seattle! They even had Ube malasadas!!! And Ube croissants! I'm a huge fan of Ube and this place did not disappoint. We also tried the yellow bean and pork little ball pastries and they were yummy without being overly sweet! Highly recommend this place! There is a tiny parking lot right next to the building which is also super helpful. Not really any space to dine in.

A delightful bakery!! :D I'd get there in the morning to take advantage of all of their offerings. Besides for the pictured bread and donut, we also got an ube cookie and a guava pastry. Everything is delicious! Guava could have had more filling and was only filled on one side. Donut and cookie though were absolutely delicious. They had an interesting looking purple drink(also ube??) that I want to try next time . No line when we went, and they'll take cash or card. Also nowhere to sit but we were on our way to lunch so that wasn't a problem. Very nice and helpful staff!

Tried here for the first time as we wanted to get ube dessert. These mini ube bread are good snack milk bread, but nothing special as you don't taste ube. The ensaymada (Filipino cheese bread) with ube was fresh and soft! I'd get this ensaymada again, but don't expect to taste ube. It's there, but you don't taste as much. It's still good though! Service: not so friendly (although there was one lady who was sweet) Ube bread: 2/5 (It's good, but not worth the trip or my stomach space for the repeat purchase.) Ensaymada w/ ube: 3.5/5 (not enough ube nor cheese like the way I remember eating in LA, but this is a good ensaymada in the area.) Parking: plenty of parking No sit down places though.

    Half sheet cake
    Lisa L.

Best ube sheet cake in Seattle! Call at least a couple of days in advance to place your order. If you want to do half ube and half pandan, you'll need to order at least a half sheet with a $5 surcharge. It was $66 as of August 2023. Quarter sheet was $45 as of April 2024. The recommended filling is coconut amongst a number of other options. The cake is always a hit at parties and even for non-Filipinos who may not know what ube is. Besides sheet cakes, they also have a variety of other pastries lined up in the bakery. Check it out if you're in the north Beacon Hill neighborhood.

    Ube Malasada
    Jason C.

I was super excited to try this place. The staff were super friendly, and the baked goods were all delightful. The ube malasada and loaf were both super fresh and perfectly flavored. Everything was very affordable. I was however hoping for more ube paste versus ube cream, but it was good regardless.

The croissant was on the crispier side, especially with the almond crumble on top it was a bit too cripsy for me, but I tend to like soft and flakey pastries so it's probably a matter of taste. There was a TON of almond filling in the middle. I enjoyed the taste and texture but it was too much filling for me personally. I would have liked more croissant in my croissant, so to say haha. The chocolate was slightly dark which worked well with the sweet pastry and filling! Overall I enjoyed the croissant but it was a tad too heavy on the filling and cripsy/crunchy for me.

They have so many yummy options, but I settled on a mushroom and Gruyère pastry and an earl grey blueberry cruffin. The mushroom and Gruyère pastry was SO good!!! Buttery flaky layers of dough with a strong earthy mushroom flavor and savory cheese - an absolute umami bomb. We ate it the day after and threw it in the air fryer for a couple of minutes, and it was so delicious. The cruffin was huge! Topped with a delicious light Earl grey cream that wasn't too sweet. It was filled with a blueberry cream and was definitely very filling. There's a lot of sugar coating it, as is standard with cruffins, but it's a nice sweet treat. Definitely coming back for the mushroom and Gruyère pastry and to try their other delicious flavors. Their supreme croissant flavor switches often and we can't wait to try the next one! Through several visits: Baguette, Large ($7.95) - Great baguette with bubbling golden exterior complete with the perfectly baked crust even after waiting 3 hours before cutting in and eating. The interior has the perfect moisture level and is delightfully soft and chewy. The taste overall has a deep developed flavor. This is a great baguette. The only problem - the price. I can find ones for half the price that are maybe 80% as good as this one. (5/5) Seasonal Biscuit ($4.50) - This biscuit definitely isn't Southern-style. It's more of a drop biscuit, combining a relatively soft and tender interior with a nice exterior crust, without any flakiness or layering. The interior is almost cake-like in texture and crumb, and is plenty moist. They add plenty of fresh black pepper inside. It's distributed very evenly, giving a peppery bite with every mouthful. Parmesan is added to the top of the biscuit before baking, giving plenty of umami and richness but only on the upper layer. (4/5) Green Vinaigrette Cafeteria Style Pizza ($6.25) - The pizza is kept under a warming lamp, so it starts getting a little dried out after I assume a couple of hours spent there. I do love the base though - it's focaccia-like giving a really crunchy dark golden brown crust underneath, which supports the toppings. The pizza slice has lots of structural integrity and doesn't flop over. There's a base of fragrant concentrated tomato paste-like flavor which is topped with a very even layer of cheese. Since it's warmed rather than freshly baked, the cheese starts congealing a bit. The cheese is peppered with parsley, garlic, and a bunch of mustard seeds, giving a special zing. The toppings go all the way to the sides of the pie, making it great for people who dislike crust. Even though it's cafeteria style pizza that's kept under heat lamps, I quite liked it. I wonder if I can get a really fresh slice if I get there right at 11AM when lunch starts. (5/5) Chocolate Croissant ($6.10) - Great lamination with a very aesthetic honeycomb pattern. Baked on the harder side, causing fantastic crispy flaky layers to flake off, but also creating a darker golden brown character that is on the verge of bitterness. Nicely buttery soft and chewy interior. Chocolate is a darker variety, probably somewhere around 70%, so it has a pleasing balanced sweetness and chocolate flavor. It's not typical baton, instead seems to be a section from a bar. Still warm and melty even through I didn't eat the croissant until ~30 minutes after purchasing. When cooled down further, some red fruity notes start appearing, so this seems to be be pretty high quality. (5/5) White Sourdough ($12.60) - Now this is a loaf of bread. Superb crust, probably 2 or 3 times as thick compared to competitors, creating a supreme crusty bite with a chew approaching a hard crunch with almost caramelized molasses notes on the bottom. The interior is moist and tender with a pleasing slight sourdough tang. It's a superb piece of craftsmanship. (5/5) Kouign Amann ($5.80) - This is another heavier bake with some acridity development on the top surface. Unlike many other bakeries where the kouign amann is basically a differently shaped croissant with sugar glaze, Sea Wolf's version feels more in line with tradition. The crumb is denser and richer, more like brioche. There's interesting black speckling inside which I believe is due to the inclusion of espresso powder given the mild coffee-like flavor. The crust is again baked hard, but it's lighter and not as flaky as the croissant. They sprinkle just a bit of salt on top of a very light caramelized sugar glaze. It's not very sweet and I didn't find it too salty unlike some other reviewers. (5/5) Plain Focaccia Slice ($4.80) - Good quality olive oil, some salt sprinkled on top to boost the flavors. Light and airy interior, but the exterior is a little wan, being more light golden brown and lacking some good crusty crisp especially on the fried bottom. Quite oily. (4/5) Sea Wolf gives out free sourdough starter, which can be requested from the cashier. Since picking it up several weeks ago, I've gone through several feed/bake cycles for making sourdough focaccia. I've visited Sea Wolf 3 or 4 times in the last month. That's a testament to how high quality their pastries and breads are. I think the only thing stopping me from visiting more is thanks to the starter I got from them fanning my baking instincts. I bake so much now that I don't have any need to buy their bread! Note: Sea Wolf charges a 3% credit card fee. This is not noted on their menu - it only appears in the POS right before paying. Kind of sketchy. Bathrooms - Single unisex room

I will note that I haven't tried the breads, but as a non-morning individual, I do appreciate that they do tend to still have many items available even later in the afternoon (~1-3PM time frame). You will have to find street parking, but I've never had too much trouble in this neighborhood even on the weekend. Butter Croissant (3.75/5): I'll admit I'm insanely picky with my croissants and I think Sea Wolf's is just okay. I want a stronger crisp on the outside, something that almost shatters and makes a mess when you bite in, but the inside has a nice chew. Kouign Amann (3.75/5): I had a really fantastic time with this my first time picking it up, they have almost a crunchy sugar caramel crust on the outside with super buttery pastry inside. Unfortunately, my second time picking this up ended up being a miss, just stale and much to dry. Cinnamon Roll (1/5): The raisins are a nice touch, but this was awfully dry. Even the caramelized crus on the outside couldn't save this and charging extra for cream cheese frosting on top of a dry dough is criminal.
