Out of both Minion attractions, this one was the better one. My mom is a fan of The Minions, so we wanted to try both out. This was pretty cute, but I didn't feel it was worth the wait. Especially since there were lots of screaming little ones. If it's 30 minutes or less of a wait, I would definitely recommend trying it. read more

This is a cute ride if there's no wait. I hadn't ridden this in years. It no longer has the 3D glasses, but the ride experience was not negatively effected. It's a great ride for entire families. I would not recommend if the wait is over 20 minutes unless you're only here one day and have small kids that can't ride much. read more

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to shrink down to two feet tall, swear your undying fealty to Gru, and love bananas? In short, do you wanna be a minion? This ride is kinda like The Simpsons but not as dramatic or thrilling, and makes for a nice change of pace from the fast paced coasters that seem to steal everyone's attention. After waiting in queue, you find yourself in the sitting room of Gru's house for a brief welcome before being ushered into the lab for an introduction to the minionization process itself. Haha, this was my first ride when we arrived in Universal. It was kinda cute. The wait wasn't too long with the express pass. In fact even with the regular line it was averaging about 45 minutes for this ride, which is nowhere near as bad as some other rides. If you're into Minions or Despicable Me, you'll definitely be into the intro segments with Gru and his daughters. Many of us were laughing so hard at how hilarious it was. As for the ride itself, it was relatively low intensity, but there definitely were some moments. I'd say this ride is safe for those who experience motion sickness as I didn't feel bad at all. If anything the introduction may have dragged a bit long, but otherwise I was pretty happy with this ride being my introduction to Universal. read more

The only issue is that the initial part of the line has minimal theming and decorations however as you get a bit deeper it gets better. Intensity (Low): Mostly a fun 4d ride that's family friendly and not particularly thrilling. However it's still quite fun. Fun (4/5): An entertaining ride with cool themes. The concept is that you turn into a minion and then do some zany activities. The vehicle you're around vibrates and moves around but doesn't have excessive g-forces. This was our first ride of the day on our way through the Universal Studios park, so I guess technically this was a rope drop ride! It was almost a "walk on" - we ended up waiting about 5 minutes and were the second group to go in! It's a very cute ride, very wholesome, definitely family friendly. It's considered a simulation ride I believe, but one where it's a giant theater of seats and you're all looking at the same screen. The theater benches move around and are grouped a little more individually, so it does feel super immersive still! I love it - I love the minions and all their silly antics and I love Gru (GOIRLSSSSS!) and Agnes in particular (it's so fluffy, I'm gonna die!!!!!!). Cute little storyline throughout the ride as well as just being plain entertaining! There was a Gru character meet and greet on our way out, which was an unexpected delight! We didn't wait in line to meet him, but I caught a photo from afar - loved it! Overall, I wouldn't wait in a line for this if it was anything more than a 20 minute wait, but if it's under that then by all means - it's a proper good time! Always come to the Despicable Me Minion Mayhem ride when I am here in Orlando. The lines are usually long as it's one of the first attractions as you enter the park at Universal Studios Hollywood...and who doesn't love the adorable minions! There was only 2 times where I came with no lines... If there are long lines just come back later in the day - it's not worth waiting on for over 45 mins as I did once to come back another day with no lines. This is a fun and enjoyable 3D simulation ride for all ages! Who doesn't love parties?! Despicable Me Minion Mayhem is a Despicable Me ride located in Universal Studios Florida and Hollywood. This ride is located directly across from the Shrek 4D ride. When we had gone on this ride, we had a express pass that allowed us to wait only 10 minutes, but typical wait time during the week of June over the summer was between 40-90 minutes. It's a virtual 3D ride, similar to King Kong, Jimmy Fallon's Race through New York ride. You used to wear glasses, but the ride doesn't require those anymore. There is a mini-pre show prior to hopping on the ride, where you turn into a "minion" yourself. The ride will jolt you up and down through-out. You may get motion sickness, however, the ride does offer you stationary seating towards the front of the room. My daughter really enjoyed the ride. She is a big minion fan! There is a dance party room after the ride and a minion themed store. read more

Despicable Me is probably everyone's first stop when they enter the park. Located right at the entrance when you enter. They start at 9 am even though they let guest in earlier. The story for this one was so cute but it was just uncomfortable. You enter a room full of seats, maybe 50 or more and everybody rides together. It's a movement ride so the seats jerk around and it can be painful after spending a couple of days in the park. I wanted to enjoy this one because my kids love minions but we didn't even bother to do the parent swap on this one because nobody wanted to go on it again. read more

Despicable Me is a great set of movies, and I totally appreciate that Universal acknowledges that in making them their own ride at the parks. However, considering the hype around the movies and the icons that minions have become, I'm disappointed in the Despicable ride. That was only accentuated by waiting 60+ minutes to get in. It's a virtual ride that's honestly very similar to the Jimmy Fallon ride. They're both kind of a Mario Kart style ride where you're sitting down and driving some sort of car/ flying machine through a course. The storyline is that every person riding becomes a minion and it's definitely cute. But it's not really anything super special. I'd also warn those who get easily motion sick against this ride. Any virtual ride could be dangerous in that aspect but even for me who doesn't get easily motion sick, this one got me a little. It bumps and shakes a LOT. Not worth waiting a long time in line but if it's ever quick then I'd go for it again! read more

We waited 90 minutes for this ride. 90 minutes. It is not worth it if you need to wait more than 10 minutes. Staff was yelling at various people for not wearing mask correctly and/or not standing exactly on their social distance lines. There is nothing really very cool to look at like some of the other rides. They just have a TV playing with minions stuff on it. When you finally get up there. The experience is 4d. The clip is short though like 2-3 minutes? And really was not anything spectacular This ride seems to be able to accommodate most though. And there is stationary seating available in the room if you are like me and get motion sick. You just need to let them know b4 they assign you to a line cue. This "ride" was really nothing special. Was disappointed. My daughter who loves minions was disappointed. Save yourself the wait and just don't so it. At Park's silliest attraction, you will get a chance to do just that, as you join Gru and the girls in this family-friendly 3D simulator ride featuring an all-new storyline, new animation. The wait time here is typically long. when I entered, I walked to Diagon alley to avoid the rush, now knowing minions ride line can be long too. we came here in the afternoon and it was still 60 minutes wait time, so finally, we came at 4 PM and it was a 20 minutes ride. I guess it is the most popular attraction in the park due to kids and adults (like me). and after the ride, I am sure why. I loved the detail of the cattle pen room they cram you into while you wait.this is the same room which they show in the movies. In the first waiting room, they play a short movie about the minions to set the pretext for the ride; funny like always. Then the second waiting room, very cute. It's basically decorated as Gru's living room resembling the movie. this is one big hall with seats like a movie theatre. you 'll be provided with 3d glasses. The little animation introduction was very cute and got everyone giggling before entering the simulator. The ride itself is 3-d and very cute. you 'll feel you are among minions and part of the mayhem they created. as said, I am a big minion fan and it was a baby smile on my face at end of the ride. This ride is near the main entrance which in my opinion results in the wait time to always be long. At least I've never seen it at 15 mins or less. The bulk of the wait is outdoors but mostly covered. The ride consist of sitting in a auditorium setting and the action is on the large screen with a little bit of seat moving and shaking. read more

Despicable Me Minion Mayhem is a great ride to check out at Universal Studios and it's a great first ride because it's conveniently located right at the front of the park! It's an indoor "show" style ride where your seats will be moving and you are handed a pair of 3D glasses for the 3D experience. I love Minions and this ride isn't anything that gets you thrilled up -- probably aimed more towards the children, but starting your day with this puts you in such a great mood and even as an adult, I always try to check this ride out whenever I'm at the park. It seats a bunch of people at once and because it's in a theater and located in the front of the park, wait time can be a hit or miss, but I highly recommend checking this ride out because it is fun and there are some surprising components of the ride for sure! read more

I love me some minions but all in all - if your wait more than 20 minutes for this ride chances are you might be disappointed! Luckily the line was short and we only had to wait about 10-15 mins to get on. It's basically a huge screen in front of you playing a short clip, while you sit on a car that moves sideways, back and forth and occasional shakes here and there. I don't recommend this ride if your sensitive to motion sickness or 3D visuals. They do offer a stationary seat that does not move and you can just watch the clip. I personally don't enjoy rides like these I'm super sensitive to anything that moves and requires you to watch a screen at the same time. Definitely can see the kids enjoying this ride! read more

Disappointing. This ride could be so much better. Why was it reduced to 2D? Did it try too hard to demonstrate 3D effects at the mercy of the product? I realize the Jimmy Neutron attraction was antiquated, at best. IDK, Maybe a true minion fan would enjoy this. In line and queued for 90 minutes, I wouldn't recommend waiting over 30 minutes. Stale material that even the kids weren't amused by. Universal has stated that they "consistently evaluate and refine our Guest experiences," and "are excited for guests to experience Despicable Me Minion Mayhem this way." Sounds suspiciously to me like too many complaints from the 3D haters out there. Possibly it was too much for kids. I'm noticing a trend in attractions reverting back to 2D. The Wizarding World of Harry Potter feature 'Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey' in Hollywood and the Orlando version of Fast and Furious - Supercharged are running 2D. 8/19 read more

Still a well put together show. Kind of sad that they took away the 3D aspect of the show and I have no idea on why they did this since shrek is still has their 3D aspect of the 4D show. Wait times are still high and not worth if times are well above an hour. Best time to go is now since it's still winter and school is back, went around 1 and times were in the 35-45 minutes time which is better. Highly recommend to turn yourself into a minion that love BANANAAAASSS if you like the movies. read more

So much bouncing! This is a cute ride but if you can't handle a lot of movement while watching 3D, it might not be for you. What's crazy is the wait often can get up to 2 hours! People, don't wait 2 hours for this ride. Ride it first thing when you get in the park so you'll have a ten minute wait max. Despicable Me Minion Mayhem opened in 2011 and if you've ever been on Shrek, it's the exact same type of ride. The ride has two pre-shows which are both cute and give you some background on the premise of the ride. You're then taken into the theater and you put on your 3D glasses. The motion simulator ride/theater takes you on a crazy journey with a lot of physical effects like the ever present spraying water Universal loves to douse guests with. I really liked the ride and the story line but man was the constant bouncing bananas! It was fun to experience what it would be like as a Minion though! Despicable Me Minion Mayhem is not a must ride for me, especially if the wait is long. But if there's a 15 minute wait or less, sure thing I'll go for the experience and have some fun! read more

I LOVE THIS SO MUCH! They've updated the line (or I skipped this part last time) and you can watch videos while you're waiting outside. There's minion quizzes and confidential files videos. Once you get inside you're waiting in part of Gru's house. On the shelves are stuff from Gru's childhood, such as his model rocket ship. But you can tell this is clearly set after the movie thanks to the crayon drawings from the girls on the wall and the Iron Maiden up above us that has been childproofed with tennis balls. There's an area at the front for those who can't ride because of motion sickness or pregnancy. I love this because they can still experience the story. You are here to become an honorary minion but the girls want to celebrate their one year anniversary since Gru adopted them (it was so cute I wanted to cry!) but Gru seems to have forgotten. Anyway, you gotta go see it to see what happens but it is freaking adorable and I loved every moment of it. read more

This is my most favorite ride here at Universal tied with Hagrid's Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure. It's kinda saddening that the 3-D isn't there anymore, but still this is the best ride no matter what! Every time Gru points at me on the TV, and when I'm on the in-ride TV after Edith says "Zap 'em Kevin!", I dab every single time. Hands down, this is the best ride here at Universal. I expected so much more out of this ride. I first tried it out a few months after it opened, and the line was INSANE. We waited about 2 hours, all for a less than average ride. I absolutely love the movie, and there was so much hype when this ride first opened. I remember after it was over I thought, "That's it?" I can see how this ride may be fun for little kids, but they failed to make this exciting for a wider age range. Minion Mayhem basically consists of a 3D motion ride. You hop on a vehicle that'll bump you every which way to a screen showing the minions trying to catch Gru's present. That's about it. It's just not worth waiting that long for, and this is usually one of the most popular rides at Universal. Afterwords they sometimes have a "Dance Party" in the exit room, where a Minion will come out and you can dance and take photos with him. The only other thing that can help this attraction gain a star is the set up. The entire ride is built to look like Gru's home. Once you get inside, you can see many memorabilia from the movie and other creative gestures. Even if the line was short, I just couldn't get myself interested to ride this ride again. It's only worth it if you're a crazy minion fan or have kids with you. read more

The line can get pretty long here, and honestly the ride isn't worth too long a wait. We have the pass holder option of fast pass after 4 pm so we were on in less than 5 minutes time. Definitely worth it! Once you're inside the theme really begins to kick in. They have some cute movie type props and the intro video is fun. The ride itself is a car that seats 4, with a pull down lap bar, for safety. You'll get 3D glasses to wear. It's much like any other 3D immersion styled ride. The seats move, water blasts, gas comes out...that type thing. NOTE: You can meet Gru and a Minion after the ride, or if you cut through the shop! Great photo opp! Overall: A A fun ride, but don't kill too much time waiting in line here! read more

This ride is very much like the Shrek 4D experience. It's a theater type seating where you are assigned to be in a certain row where the split begins and expected to move all the way down to fill all seats so that the maximum capacity can be filled with every cycle of the movie/ride. This ride basically simulates you becoming a minion and the ride and motion is not that intense but more geared to probably around the same audience that would enjoy Shrek. It's a more updated same type of humorous animation but in the same type of 4D environment. If you enjoyed the Despicable Me series this ride would be enjoyable since the entire Minions theme is what it's all about. The lines also have screens and a variety of things to keep you occupied while you wait. Most of the lines seem to be snaking outdoors so there's less chance to cool of if you needed it as opposed to say the Mummy or MiB where the lines are mostly indoors with AC. read more

I loved the movie, I loved the minions, and I loved the ride. Unless you have the Express Pass you are going to have to wait...and wait, but the kids will have a blast. When we saw he line we were a bit worried it would take forever, but it moved quickly. They did a good job of breaking it up so there are two parts to the ride. The first is a little movie where Gru is recruiting you, and the second part is the actual ride. If you like the movie, you'll like this ride. It isn't scary, but between the 3D and the bouncing cars it feels like a real ride. And you get a bonus as you're leaving...there are minions outside the ride doing a dance routine...be ready to take pictures! I love the Minions... read more

BANANA!!! MINIONS! I wanna be a minion! Banana! Yes, since this is new the lines are ridiculously long. Once inside you are ushered into two different rooms and shown two movies. Basically, you are being recruited to become a minion! Gru is explaining the rules and criteria. It's funny and cute just like the movie. The minions steal the show though. The ride itself is set up in a huge theater in a communal setting where everyone sits in a car and you are thrown into a simulated movie on a large screen in front of you. The cars move and bounce around and you feel as if you are on a roller coaster with the minions all doing crazy stuff and funny adventures. It's actually really fun, and if a fan of the movie will enjoy it. Be a MINION! It's so FLUFFY! read more

Do this ride first or second (other ride being Transformers), because the line can get ridiculously long ridiculously fast. It was 70 minutes by 9:18 a.m. Say what?! Who doesn't love minions? They do a great job providing videos of minions while you wait in line. It is a fun quiz about what a minion would do when put in a certain situation. The result is always hilarious and cute. The ride itself is a lot of fun. However, it is A LOT of bouncing around. Minions are just super bouncy. It is really cute and enjoyable for the whole family. After the ride there is a fun dance party where you can dance with minions and see yourself on screen. read more

The loopy adventure of turning into one of Gru's minion. Line for this ride is quite a long wait but consist of fun 'Despicable Me' props. Since we didn't get the front of the line pass, we were waiting for 90 mins and watched the video that's been playing on loop for the 200th time. Would definitely considered doing this ride early early or late late in the day. It is good for all ages with the option of 3D simulation as well as the stationary (non-moving viewing). This ride has twist and turns and a whirlwind of unexpected surprises. I enjoyed it because I love the Minions. Would recommend for the kids. If you are not a fan of the Minion and kiddie humor, I would say, you can skip this ride. read more

The ride wait normally is min. 45 mins. We lucked out that we stayed on premise and got in an hour early so no wait the second day we were at Universal. My bf was even shocked how fun and cute the ride was. Definitely a lot of fun. I'd highly recommend it for any Minion fan. read more
